Hey all,
Can somebody confirm that they have had the Uni working with the AKU_3.2 VGA files in the ftp site and jwright's 3.2 ROM?
I've been running the i-mate default ROM on VGA for almost a year now and decided to switch over to the new 3.2 ROM a few days ago. I don't use ozVGA but use the registry hack straight up with the VGA files and VGA system apps.
But for some reason, I can't get all my icons displaying. I've run sdkcerts countless times, hit the power button waiting for 5 seconds before soft resetting, done multiple reboots changing up the order of sdkcerts and vga file copying... I just can't seem to get it to display all the icons correctly.
I know that I'm missing my volume and my cel reception indicator on the top bar at the very least. I CAN see my wifi icons, clock and magic button icons. On another post I found somebody whose screenshot matched mine and the suggestion was to install the AKU_3.2 VGA files again. I've done that alot.
Any ideas would be appreciated. The Uni is significantly better at VGA.
Thanks.
Hmmmm, something strange is definitely going on... I've installed the original ozVGA cab now and even that has not worked. Same problem, it's not loading the top bar icons.... just like if I had not installed those 96dpi resource files into the Windows directory.
Can anybody confirm or deny that ozVGA works with the AKU 3.2 rom?
And mvrTrueVGA is the winner. Why it seemed to work and the other didn't is beyond me...
So I've compared all the files that mvrTrueVGA installs to the VGA files that are supplied in the AKU_2 zip. Essentially, they are all different (which honestly doesn't say much) but there are some interesting additions.
There are new files.
mismde.96.dll
trares0407.96.dll
Plus two interesting things. First off, I was using Total commander to search for all files that were *.96.*
It found two other files which had some interesting properties...
rires.96.dll -- this file I can see on my pocket pc but can't see it through activesync explorer
shellresapps.96.dll -- this file I can't copy from the PPC to look at it. Activesync complains that it cannot convert it.
Just some interesting info in my investigations.
Hi,
I wanted to try out VGA myself. Would it be too much to ask for a step by step instruction list for "beginers"? Attached files would also make it wonderful.
Thanks very much.
Me too wanna try vga with AKU 3.2 if it's totally safe .
www.jaml.com/MvRTrueVGA/
seems safe to me.
Been using it for a while.this is literally just a cab install, it even puts a toggle link in start>programs
pretty idiot-proof, Even I managed that one....

Thanks for the tip. Yes, VJ's Phone app works like a charm. What is the purpose of the other link that you gave us with the registry changes?
It would be nice though for the power settings to be seen as normal as possible.

Thanks very much. I did not even notice those. Keep the suggestions coming. VGA seems better now even though it is still small.
I copied the files: power, backlight, and microphone mui's to my SD card ran them and got a nice looking files without distortion, I copied the files as suggested to the /Windows folder and did a soft reset. But if I access the power, backlight, and microphone through the Settings Tab, I still get the old distorted image. Is this the way it should be? Am I doing something wrong?

Did you run the .0409.mui exe first? Then copy to Windows? Then remove the trailing .exe from the .0409.exe files? It worked perfectly for me.

Hello.
Firts of all sorry for my bad english.
I know that there is enough applications like this, but I've decided to write my own application, as a beginning for learn embeded C++ and mobile devices development. So, because this is my first app. in such domain, please don't punch me .
May be "power manager" sounds hard, this app. do exactly the same as per example psShotXP, namely:
- turn off the screen of Your device
- put the device in suspended mode
- soft reset the device
- turn off the device (HTC devs.).
- turn on/off wifi
- turn on/off phone module
- turn on/off bluetooth (make discoverable/invisible)
- switch phone bands Auto-2G-3G
You also can create 4 shortcuts to the program with parameters:
0 - turn off the screen of Your device
1 - put the device in suspended mode
2 - soft reset the device
3 - turn off the device.
4 - turn on/off phone module
5 - turn on/off wifi
6 - turn on/off bluetooth
You can change the images of backrounds button separator and buttons, they will be located in "Images" folder after install. With one restriction: now the buttons are black, so if you change the back of main program, consider this ...
Remarks: To close the main window you must tap anywhere outside the buttons or in space between buttons. Also to close additional windows tap the Close button or empty space of window.
P.S.
Discoverable/invisible mode for bluetooth is working on Microsoft stacks, on broadcom is to be developped (works just on/off bluetooth)
P.S. Supported screen resolutions: QVGA (240x320), Square (240x240), SquareQVGA (320x320), VGA(480x640), Square VGA (480x480), WVGA (480x800)
Regards.

Hi
Works fine on Touch Diamond 2. Thanks
I am myself a developer and I was looking for a way to shut down the device from a shortcut. With the keyword "PowerOffWarning" from you I finally found the solution.

About "turn off". I've tested these only on my Touch HD, and i've used the functionality of this device owerOffWarning (when you long-press the power button). May be this will work on Diamond too, i do not have them...

Hi.
By "PowerOffWarning" I want to say, that when You long-press the power button on device it seems that a program PowerOffWarning.exe (wich You can find in \wndows dri.) is launched, and You can see the message box "Power will be turned off ...".
This is not my discovery, this is a standard HTC feature ... and a found it here

Sorry, but ... why you are doing this ... You don't need to copy the program into windows, You can do this of course, but ... I think there is no need for ...
And about PowerOffWarning, I repeat that this is a HTC program, not mine, and if in \win. dir is no such file, the renaming of SVMPowerMgr to PowerOff will not help.

Hi s. virtan
I've the following problem and i hope you can help me:
Your App is running great, but when i click on "turn off device" the screen stays on. For a half second the screen is black an returns to powermgr-menu.
Any idea what's the problem?
Ralfi.
Hi Virtan,
I have installed your software, but found the when I pressed and hold the power button for my Diamond 2, instead of showing the power off warning, your menu pop out. And if I uninstall your program, I cannot power off my device, because the program is looking for the SVM Power Mgr.exe.

If yes, the You should remove[rename] the Long_Power.lnk from \windows dir.
Sound strange Your situation, because the cab does nothing else, than copy the Svm Power Mgr to the program files, and a shortcut to program in \windows\start menu\programs, that's all, there is no other locations ...

alright, thank you very much.
i have a feeling that if we learn how to use this, many amazing skins can be made for our excaliburs.
I have downloaded it...initially tried to use it to make a preliminary of my Horizon Skin (which i hope to release soon). I found that it isn't (for me atleast) worth the effort.
Maybe I am just a super-noob with it, but I found it confusing and hard to actually design panels. It didn't work by the basis of centering the main panel or putting the active panel at the top...it was more like the screen was all active panels and I would have to scroll to each one. I found it annoying, but that is my take.
If someone can figure out how to efficiently use this program, then i saw more power to them, and maybe i will try this program again.
A few notes:
-Always exit correctly, sometimes it gives an error the next time starting
-Be sure to put your Bronzeres.dll in the WINDOWS folder there (it'll add some images)
-You can replace the default background
-I think putting the cmhomeres.dll and cmhomeres.dll.0409.mui (or whatever the second is) adds some text too.
-Make a backup of your registry and put it in the windows folder, then load it (It'll enable the use of the DLL's)
Good luck! I hope to see some good progress

It actually does we just didn't name it that, but WM6.5 has suddenly become CHome and will be the reason how much users will know it as that.

But anyway the only way to get it is to flash 6.1 or 6.5 not available as .cab.......

On your phone go to the start menu then to Accessories, and then click RESCO REGISTRY (that is where it is on my phone). Get to the point where you see only HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and HKEY_CURRENT_USER or something like that...it is the highest you can go. Select all of those and select "export registry" (DONT FORGET TO SELECT ALL OF THEM). I kno the program doesn't use all of it, but it is safer that way (in my opinion)

Hmm...haha, I never got that far (didn't have the patience)
I would suppose there is a way on the FILE menu to save the CPR. Do so, then copy the CPR file to the Windows Folder on your folder.
Two notes:
1-The CPR file MUST be named (in this case for simplicity) titanium_320x240.cpr
2-BACKUP YOUR OLD ONE THAT IS ALREADY THERE!!!YOU DONT WANT TO LOSE THAT ONE!
Best of luck!
I don't know the exact name of it, but the grey screen that tracks events. Shows you your battery life, new messages and such. It basically lists system events like new voicemails, IM's....etc.
Now when click on the top icons I get the regular connection bubble, new messahe bubble...the big grey screen doesn't come up any longer.
Only thing I installed today was the WiFi Router cab. I uninstalled that to see if for any reason that could have caused it but nope.
Notes: I am using AT&T's TP2 (Tilt 2) on Stock Rom
Edit: HTC Notification Manager service...that's what I am talking about
In your favorite registry editor, go to HKLM/Services/NOTIFICATIONMANAGER
Look for the key named Dll, and make sure that the value for that key is:
"NotificationManager.dll"
Be sure that the key is correct Uppercase and Lowercase as it is typed here.
If that does not fix it, I really don't know!

Ya that is set correctly. I downloaded "FdcSoft's Task Manager" to see Windows Services screen and saw that the service is set to auto but it was stopped. I started it and its working but when I reboot the phone, its stopped again...
Is there a way to use MortScript to start a service? Cause if so, then I can just drop a script in the startup folder...

1st you need a registry editor (i use the one included in sktools)
2nd under "hkey_local_machine" you'll find a folder named "software". in this folder there should be the folder "OEM" and in there the folder "voicecommand".
3rd in the "voice command" folder you create a new "string" (in the sktools reg explorer you press "action>new>string". there should be a box where you should be able to enter a name for that value... name it "path".
beneath there should be another box where you can enter the "string value". in this box you write "\Programme\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe".
then press "ok", do a soft reset and this should be it....
i hope my discription was correct, cause i don't have my phone here right now and had to write it by heart.
good luck

thanks alot for that... ill give it a try tomorrow or monday.
