I have just upgraded to WinMo 6.5 and, although, it runs pretty smoth, it eats up to much RAM. I have disabled push internet, opera staying in memory, etc, and it still uses (without anything else running) 41% of RAM. Starting and ending programs rushes up the RAM usage to above 50%. Applying RAM Sweep and/or cleanRAm does not bring back all the (dis)used RAM. Are there any other ways to clean as much RAM as possible? In WinMo 6.1 my average RAM usage was 35 to 38%.
you could try using Timor.8 rom.. has everything stock from european version.. has optimize for low usage of ram... smooth and stable, and after i use cleanram, i wait awhile for another use and everything seems to settle down and drops back down.. you should try it
hey I was wondering myself, how much total
Storage and Program rams do you have?
I am using the timor.8slim rom and I am having
Total: 184.41 MB
In Use: 103.30
Free: 81.11 MB
I am just wondering if the total is normal? I thought it had more?

When I reset my XDA Orbit it stars at about 20MB RAM available.
If I open and immediately close say 3 programs it sinks to around 10MB RAM. No programs are open and i've run memmaid and pocketmechanic pro, RAM reclaim etc... but nothing seems to be able to free RAM. I have to soft reset again.
Any ideas??
remove un-needed programs (memmaid and pocketmechanic pro, RAM reclaim etc... ) lol
and any others you dont use, or could do without. Try and keep it as clean as possible!
lol I wish,
but being serious I only installed memmaid and procketmechanic to try and solve this RAM issue.
I could undertand if apps were running but after closing all it just seems unable to free the RAM back up
Try Oxios Hibernate
Thanks I've just tried Oxois Hibernate/close apps and it makes a small improvement maybe 0.5MB max but still nothing like the 21MB I start with. I understand some will just get swallowed up in the main system files but its seems ridiculous to lose 10-15MB???
I am thinking to tweak my Universal to 128 MB, but what exactly is the benefit?
I think the speed will go up because the os can put files in the ram but it is really noticeable?
Thanks
Fritte
Apps like Opera and Navigon will greatly profit from more RAM as they eat our measly 30 MB free RAM (best case) alive. You might see more speed on previously slow tasks like opening the Windows folder if the ROMs cache settings has been tweaked to suit the available RAM. But other than that programs just give you a message once you run out of memory and as there is no page file no slowdown occurs.
Hi I"m regular visitor of this site. I wonder why even if I just put the TP2 on it start with 69-72% ram use.
How will this influence apps (like medical software) that I 'd like to use in the future?
Thanks in advance
Mine idles using about 40% after a soft reset then levels off at around 50% after a few hours of moderate usage. Such high idlle usage is a bit strange... Do a soft reset then take a look.
mine levels off at about 65% when idle. But i have t-mobile branded version. So could be there bloated software using extra ram. Can't wait for hard-spl so i can at least flash the latest stock rom
USA T-mobile Tp2 idles at 55% after running Cleanram.
i only have the 256Ram though, not the 288.
Thanks for the replies. I also have 256 ram. These are huge differences I must say.
I'll try the soft reset.
Thanks
mine used to show 256mb of ram, after a ROM update it shows 288mb. mine is an unbrand version
Thanks Mcspikesky, Looks like I have more ram available after the soft reset. For a second it leveled at 40%, but now it's stay 53%. Feels better though.
Thx
44% on my TMO TP2 with bluetooth headset running. I haven't done anything to it, but I am on an unlimited call plan so I don't have the 'Favs' on the home screen.
Mine is on 288MB RAM. When it starts it uses around 40% then shift to 53% then stay there unless I use any other programs. The most I went is 85%.

Mine is a Singapore unbranded (updated ROM) and the RAM usage is whacky.
Right now, i am at 71% with nothing running.
This has been an issue i have been watching as i think we are getting duped a bit here. Some users (me included on occasion) have not had enough free RAM to run a GPS app like IGO8 - this blows..!
On soft reset, 30 to 40mb of RAM gets used for ....who knows!
Consider this, from a potential 288mb, you have less than 60mb to actually run any apps, did i say it blows? Will be really interested to see if 6.5 will handle any differently.
Cheers to all.
Jabberoo
on standby after softreset i have these tasks running in background,
NK.exe / filesys.exe / cprog.exe / device.exe / gwes.exe / shell32.exe
manila.exe / connmagr.exe / CommManager.exe / tmail.exe (every 5min.)
RSS HUB.exe (every 1 hour)
DataStorage---------------ProgrammStorage
All 285,82---------------------188,21 Mb.
in Use 14,87--------------------62,40 Mb.
Free 270,95-------------------125,81 Mb.
i have killed some Tasks witch runs in Backround,
like the 2 Opera.exe files / PushInternet / ZoomBar / repllog.exe (ActiveSync i dont use/like this) /
deleted all files on AutoStart(BTTrayCT a shortcut in Programms and start Bluetooth when needs)
in all,
after softreset 30 % +/- then it go`s down
on stanby 63208 Kb. +/- in use 23-25%
and the device runs very fast...
Mine's around 58%... (with 288MB Ram)
Using TaskManager, I have these processes running which I don't think are necessary. How can I kill them permanently, and is it safe to do so?
CommManager.exe - 151 kb memusage
JBlendDaemon - 63 kb
I also have these in the startup folder: HTCStartUp & PKG which I'm not sure what they are for. Found this in an old TyTn2 thread though...
pkg.lnk:
shortcut to pkg.exe. Psst don't tell anyone, it will run any application named "pkgautorun.exe" located in \Storage Card\2577 then the system will automatically delete pkg.lnk. Safe to delete.
HTCStartup:
shortcut to HTCStartup.exe. Read/Update/provide system status (Bluetooth, Calltimer, etc). Don't delete this shortcut.
Did you guys delete these?
so im running Jackos OldSchool WM 6.1 ROM for the sake of RAM, running 120mb on fresh start but what i noticed is after listening to music for about 2 hours and leaving the phone sit for an hour its at 109mb without any programs running....whats the cause of this?
i noticed with 6.5 ROMs as well
unsure of the reason. but.
why not try cleanRAM app?
free. and cleans up ram space.
Hey XERO, just to be sure, you're saying that over that time the amount of available memory drops by about 11MB, correct?
It sounds to me like the music you're listening to was loaded in RAM but didn't get unloaded when you closed the player maybe? I know that music eats RAM in that way...might just be best to try the cleanram sweep like sh4d0w suggested
Clean ram like like the other responses say. you can schedule it to run at a schedule or you can run it when you feel you need to. you can get it here>http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333
thats still decent memory left. clean ram will wrk, but its always going to fluctuate. even when not in use. as long as it dont drop below 50mb, u good..lol ull be clean ramming all day trying to get it to stay at the startup ram mem left...lol some other ones that might help is Clear temp or advanced task manager. advanced task manager will show u every process running. u might be able to find the culprit there.

Can someone clear up something im tryna figure out? The rhodium has 288 mb of ram right? I was wondering why my phone says max ram is 185 and only about 90 free ram left with all programs closed. On different roms it would say 136 free with all programs closed. In xandroid it would slowly decrease as if its leaking to nowhere even when i close all programs. Is this normal for android or does my windows build effect the ram in android?
To clarify my question, im asking why is it so low in winmo and is it normal? Also is it at a normal level in android and does winmo's reading of ram affect xandroid? Thanks
Nobody knows? Well could somebody tell me what their max ram says and is it normal? Mine says 186 with 90 free
I am using the stock AT&T rom from this past August. I show max ram as 187 and typically have about 92 megs after a soft reset. I have gotten it as high as a little over a hundred depending upon what I run at startup. That extra RAM under the 187 is being used by the OS and by HTC. Sense is a real memory hog but if you are at 90 I am guessing you have Sense turned off. The Start menu uses 10 mega itself.
Thank You! All I wanted to know lol. So mine is normal phew. I use titanium energy rom. Didn't like sense ui or touchflo3d
