1st post. New here, and should be finally getting my Touch next week, after years using vintage palms phones (Kyocera 6035->i500.) looks like lots of great work done by people here (and other similar boards) and I'll try to avoid making too many noob questioning posts...
There's been some great collaborative work over on the Polaris board resulting in early .cab and Rom versions of manila 2d ported from the opal. Looks like the future for Diamond like interfaces.
The polaris is a close GSM cousin of the vogue. I know that the .cab should be usable, but any current work on developing a rom or kitchen using manila 2d?
Its already on here please do a search before you make a new thread.
yea all the big cheifs are busy working on getting it fully functional so weve have much to look forward to especialy with wat ever vetvito puts out
o and welcome to xda

, Can't count how many times I've seen people write responses like this on boards (although not usually directed my way.)
I do not believe it has any thread here in the Vogue forum. Maybe I am missing something, but I searched back quite a bit. What is wrong about asking specifically about development of this for the Vogue?
There is a huge thread in the Polaris forum (which i was referring to), but the Polaris and Vogue are not the same platform. That cab likely will work, but I do not expect a Polaris rom to work with on a vogue, although porting it should be simple enough for someone more knowledgeable than myself.
Again, I apologize if this has been covered in another thread here, but I do not want to bother someone about a vogue in the polaris forum.

Thank you. I assumed this forum (Vogue upgrading etc.) was the right place to look for a new rom for the Vogue, as I had been following along in the analogous Polaris upgrading forum. I will look at the forum you suggested.
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173
Not only is development and hacking clogged up by numerous threads all just regarding themes and theme issues but so are all the sub forums. So why not have a specific section just for themes? I think that this would tidy up the entire site, for example tf3d themes are now spread across quite a few forums and there are loads of wallpaper threads in every forum, development and hacking is starting to fill up with titanium themes.
So my idea is to have a new section....Themes and UIs ....everything together, multi device.
What do you think?
Not sure if im blind or just missed it...but you didnt explain where you wanted it. Im thinking your talking about the dream forum b/c I am in there a lot, but I read it and said nah b/c there is a theme forum. You have to specify where if you want some assistance .
Thanks for the reply I actually meant an entire new forum devoted to themes and UIs for any device in the main section right here at the top.
Any Mods got an opinion?...bump....this has to be the quietest place on xda devs.
You might want to consider reposting in this thread.
I agree with the skins theme forum, well, maybe not completely. A sub forum should be more than enough, not a full section dedicated to skins.
Also, what exactly do you mean by UI? If you are talking about things like M2D, PointUI, IFonz, etc... those things really are part of Dev and Hacking (more D than H), but they should be there simply because they are being developed/ported/made by other site members who rely on the feedback, knowledge, and expertise of other developers to debug and complete their apps.
Just my two cents.
I agree completely. Would help the site and the user. Users would be able to find themes more easily.

Yes UI=User Interface, I know what you mean, developement does belong in D&H but it is overflowing with UI stuff at the moment, stuff like M2D would still get developed and supported, just somewhere else. I think it would be one of the busiest forums on the site and that a new forum would unburden Dev and Hacking leaving it free for all other development.
With a dedicated themes section it would be great to have a few things like a dedicated photoshop tips and questions thread and a place where people could share all their custom graphics and knowledge in one place.
Well, not a lot of votes, but there does seem to be a bit of a swing.
Please if you do view this thread you might as well vote, it does not take very long.
Vote added...nice thread.
+1. Perhaps a sub-forum of Dev & Hacking would be nice, instead of a seperate section itself.
I think it is a good idea
that will save time and keep out the interruption thread what take our attention if we are searching for themes and UIs only
Makes the site more arranged
you have my voice
Connect the Devs
Thanks to everyone who has voted so far.
Another point that occurred to me which I have not put too clearly to date, is that not only would all the themes be in one place, but so would all the theme developers! Which to me seems possibly like the biggest advantage of all, to help connect all the theme developers from across all the boards, now that would be good to do.
good idea...clearly people like this and it should be implemented into the website
now we should vote on where in the forums it should be.
New section or under dev/hacks or somethin?
vote added.. separate section would clear up Themes/Skin Developments frm Software Developments and make navigation easy!
Good idea !!! I'm for it.
Windows Phone 6.5
Windows Phone 6.5 themes are where it's at now; are you planning on heading that direction?
@ Black C5, yes definitely wm 6.5 themes are huge in development and hacking right now. If I had my way there would be a sub section of the Themes and UI's section dedicated to WM 6.5 themes with a big sticky near the top linking to all available widgets and add ons etc. I think that dev and hacking is the right place for widgets since they fall into the catagory of software development but themes don't, if it's mainly graphical it should be in the hypothetical themes and ui's section.
What next?
So how many votes are needed to make this happen? and how do I/we go about making it happen?

Well To put it bluntly, This isn't a democracy so there is no magic number of votes that will make this happen.
this may happen if and only if the Admins decide that they want to do so.
However that's not to say this is of no use, the admins like to give the people what they want. But don't think that they will automatically create this section just because you got x amount of votes.
When the time is right, and they decide, then it will happen.
I am posting this only because I am sick, as many of us are, of searching through 10 forums/sub-forums, polls and bountys just to get the information on updates to Android running on our TP2's.
Please vote!!!
Doing this to hopefully get the attention of the mods.
bump
Any other takers?
I voted. I wish all applicable phone forum groups would have an Android sub-forum in them. It would surely clean up the forums a lot!
i definately agree that we should have a sticky for this, would make things much easier to have everything in one place, a one-stop forum for all that is android
87 page threads can be a little tough to sort through too. Hopefully having their own forum will allow them to decompress a little and let noobs like myself get a better idea of the progress without investing enough time to read war and peace. +1 for an Rhodium Android subforum.
no, I like searching in umpteen different places. 4 10.00%

I dunno this survey question seems iffy
I would definitely like this - there needs to be more threads for Android on Rhodium as things develop, and they need to be kept together. A sub-forum would fit the bill perfectly.
great idea!
I think a subforum would be a great idea...
You could say the same things for any of the more popular WM ROMs too though, e.g. threads with thousands of responses are out of hand and very hard to manage.

Yeah, what this guy said, + the Android sticky; [email protected]
I think what we really need is a mod to close all the Android threads. Then someone who cares about keeping stuff up to date (Read my vote as reefermattness) start a new thread.
I think it is becoming cumbersome to try to sift through all of the threads and post to see if anything has been updated on the XDAndroid project. It would help a lot to see it all in one sub-forum. It would help to clean up the other Rhodium forums also.
Everyone keep up the great work and keep showing all of our support for Android for Rhodium!

I think bringing it to the attention of the mods may help things. Because there is so much development why not have a sub forum to weed through instead of getting it mixed up with the great Roms that are listed in this sub.

Android 1.6/2.0 on the HTC Rhodium
just joking around with you guys. Also, just want to give you guys couple links that is working for me (the above and my signature)
i think it is still too early to request an adroid subforum...first get everything to work...then request it
since not everything works
anyway this subforum isn't called "wm rom development",but rom development..so it is totally reasonable that such threads go here
so please triplecheck before you request something...

Except it's not a ROM yet, so I guess it shouldn't belong here. And it's not an application so it shouldn't belong in the Apps sub-forum either.
So let's call it Android Development!

Imagine having to sort through a 797 page thread.... *cough* NRG *cough*
I do agree that we should have a subforum here though, because I never know where to look for TP2 Android port updates, and it seems like if i do find a dedicated thread, theres someone saying to check "the other thread" for more information on one aspect or another... It would be great to have it all in one place!
Hello,
I cannot find anymore some very useful informations on WIKI, like, for example, the incredible useful collection of links to the cooked ROMs for each device, ordered by developer and date... The page of "Reconstructed ROMs" is empty and I think the amount of the useful links for different topics of each device was decreased.
As a real life example, I am currently looking to flash another, better and more up-to-date ROM on my Kaiser, but, without the collection of ROMs previously available for my device on WIKI, I don't have any overview of the current ROMs and it makes the choice pretty difficult
Would this situation be improved in the near future, or it's planed to remain like this (new vision)?
Thanks in advance for any answer!
Conrad
As part of the migration of the wiki we had many pages to move, (myself moved 500+) and the rest of the team moved many more. Inside each page there were more links to other pages and going through and moving every single one was VERY time consuming. Ill see if i can locate that page and move it over for you.
Thank you very much for your answer and your helpfulness, Captainkrtek!
Sorry, I understand that this migration action means a lot of work and, if I could, I would also help as much as I could. My post was in no way intended to accuse somebody... It would be a great help for me and I think also for many other members of the forum, if you could find again the collection of links to the cooked ROMs, in this case related to Kaiser.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Best regards,
Conrad

ALL CREDIT GOES TO SWM5126, I am simply bringing it to the attention of HD2 devs. Please be sure to thank SWM5126 for his work.
Found this in the Android Software Development forum.

Hopefully this will help get ICS to us nice and quick. Knowing our device (and awesome devs!) we'll probably be running ICS before most other phones do!

Please no more ICS thread for every single new feature/fix ! Just post in the most popular ICS thread...
Argh, touchscreen worked correctly even in my test build, we don't need this.

Yes this sticky is a mistake but I do find that with the work being done on various kernel these days, the kernel's threads being sticked is a good idea. Once they've all come to a mature state, it will be time to unstick them I guess...
Just trying to get the word out, I felt that this was a very big development and therefore warranted a thread, mainly for the devs. On that note, NRGZ28 felt that it was important enough to be stickied, and he's always been one of the top developers on the HD2, so I'll take his word for it
Let's keep XDA friendly and informative, as it's supposed to be
On that note, anyone been able to use this succesfuly on the HD2?

I think OP is trying to point out that the port is no longer necessary. I didn't look at the fix nor the port so I don't know what the difference is - but less change is better, right?
