What's up with the Symbol key on the keyboard? If I press it while anywhere in a web page it opens the character screen. If I press the key while typing in a url or while posting in a forum (when actually needed), the symbol screen rapidly pops up and disappears instantly. I tried multiple times but it still wont stay open. The first time I tried to use the symbol menu, I needed the square brackets for BB code. It somehow froze loading of any existing page graphics and I had to kill the browser. Is there a fix for this so I can actually USE the symbol selector while browsing the web? Broken on delivery...sounds like Windows Mobile lol.
Me either!
Hi all
Me either! Symbol pad only shows up momentarily.
Bad!!
Cheers

ME TOO...!!! I noticed mine wasnt working while texting...its rather annoying
Don't know how helpful this is, but it works on the latest Fusion ROM with Opera 9.7.
Still on WM6.1. How Compatible is this Fusion ROM with VZW & MMS? Is it worth upgrading? I have downloaded 2 different builds of Opera 9.7 only to find one version crashes on certain web pages and the other version totally cripples my stock version while becoming unusable (kicks me back to the mainscreen clock). I know this is mainly GSM section but I figured this hardware key is common on all TP2/Rhodium handsets.
I haven't tried the key in messaging yet but I will check now that it has been mentioned.
---------------------------------------------------
Confirmed. Symbol key activates symbol menu with no trouble while in messaging. Must be an Opera Mobile problem.

Hi all,
I've done a search, but I cannot find a solution for my problem. I've been using Opera Mini a long time and I had no problems on my HTC Wizard. I've recently been using my Dash more, and I have used Ricky's ROMs and Kavana's. I finally tried to Synchronize Opera to get to my bookmarks, and I ALWAYS get the message that Authentication Failed (in either of their 6.1 ROMS). It appears that I can't login to any sites. The only other unusual behavior is that if I go to live.com I get some foreign language, as if though my regional settings are off (but I checked and they seem to be US English and other sites are fine). The key mappings appear to be right as the letters and numbers show up okay, but I cannot log in to any site. It appears as if it is some sort of forms or Java error, but I dunno, those are only guesses. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Can anyone else "Synchronize Opera" with these ROMs?

I may be wrong since I don't use live.com, but I thought it's normal to be in a foreign language? On opera mini, which version do you have, the unsigned or signed version? I'm assuming you have 4.1.
I don't know about live.com - I didn't notice it until after I had this problem, but searches have given evidence others have seen similar behavior. Anyway, the version is 4.1 as you guessed. I have, btw, determined it is an input issue of some sort but I cannot figure out why or what the long term fix is. By going to a form in Opera Mini and then holding down ALT+SPACE, a menu popped up which allowed me to switch from x9t or whatever to abc, and I was able to log in. It appears to not hold over a reboot, though.
The behavior is really, really strange. It acts like it has the wrong keyboard mapping in Opera mini, but switching back to mobile IE the keys all match properly.....
Hello
I installed my eT9_Full keyboard layout on my Mobile and it doesnt seem to be working anymore, it was working fine lastnight and i turned it on and some keys dont seem to be working correctly.
Instead of having to hold down the FN button to get the numbers, they automaticly work without holding it down when you press them which means i cant use W,E,R, S, D, F, X ,C, V for letters.
Also the T9 little icon isnt flashing back and forth where it used to where the battery icon is.
any help would be great
**Update**
It all seems to work in MSN correctly without any problems at all, but in Internet Explorer and text messages is still has the same problem, it seems like its only actived when it wants too??
Have you presses FN + SPACE and chose ABC in a text input box?
That doesnt seem to do anything while pressed in the text message box writing area.
Im using the Kavana’s 6.1 ROM
Well it does work if i use it in MSN then i can choose and select with one i want to use, However in Internet explorer and text messages that option doesnt happen

Pipped to the post that was my next step
Will still have to do the FN + SPACE as the phone starts in predictive.
So I still use my aol webmail account (webmail.aol.com) and am having a issue on my g2. For some reason I cannot scroll to the right or left when logged into the webmail. This is a problem because I cannot see the entire email since it overlaps the screen view. Rotating the phone sideways helps a bit but doesn't fix the problem at all. I never had this issue with my G1 and do not have the issue using Opera mini browser (dolphin, full opera, and stock browser have the problem). My question is, is there anything I can tweak to that it will come up correctly? I've already swiched the user agent setting but nothing seems to make a difference. Thanks!
Also, if I open a message and hit the provided back button, it just reloads the messaged, does not take me back.
Over the last few days, the forum has been unreadable with Firefox (on Win7). Every forum page constantly reloads. To be able to scroll, click a link, or anything else, I have to click the "stop" button. And I even have to time that just right or it either still reloads the page again, or it stops before it loads any content so I just have a blank white page. I did not update Firefox between the page working and not working correctly. I have since updated it, but no change. I have killed all of my add-ons (just NoScript and a couple web development based add-ons) and it still does it.
I can browse the forums in IE, but even there I notice the "xda" logo on the IE tab flashes between the logo and the reloading circle symbol.
Is it just me, or is it something with the site? This is the only web site I'm having any problems with.
All fine here on Windows 7 and Firefox.
Once I load an actual post (such as this one) the reload issue stops. It only happens on the levels up from this one.
mother ****ing win
Yeah it was giving me issues too but in ubuntu, so I went to look for another browser.
When I stumbled upon this:
I have been having the same issue. I read a few days back that someone thought there were issues with NoScript in Firefox. I wish someone would respond and fix or suggest a fix.
In the meantime, I either use Chrome or switch back to the 2010 theme for XDA in Firefox, and they work fine (though I would prefer the 2013 beta theme if it were working).
On my other phones, when encountering a free public WiFi access point that requires Username/PW (e.g. airport, library, court, misc Guest access points), the default browser would launch a "Sign-in to Network" page. On the G4, it bypasses the browser (although you can see it open it for a split second to a blank page) and goes into a default Android sign-in screen. The downsides I have noticed:
- Browsers can auto-remember the log in info, this default Android one doesn't.
- Browsers seem to reliably find (and load) every "Sign-in to Network" page, but the default one sometimes just shows a huge red locked icon. I went to a library and court the other day, and it showed this big fat red icon.
So my question is: Is this something we can bypass or disable and allow the browser to handle the sign-in process? TIA!
If it helps, here's a sample screenshot. This is of my work Guest network. Notice it's not a browser screen.
Anybody have any clue?
No help but I've got the same issue on Nexus 5x but the common issue is the Cisco sign in page. Remember sign in works on all other network sign in bar the Cisco site.
