Call Screen Issue - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Okay, I need some help please. When I make a call from the call screen, put it up to my ear, the phone will go back to the home screen. This happens regardless of the length of time I hold it away from my ear. The is very frustrating when you need to enter numbers on the key pad or use the other options you have. Anyone know how to fix this?

Mmm, to short, so typing on a little bit
Same problem here, so if somebody has a solution...

I notice the problem on the Sprint version but on the ATT version I do not have that issue. Anyone have any advice?

I have the same problem on a HTC Touch Pro2 WWE (europe)

Fixed
Go to settings and select lock, change "prompt if device is unused" to 0 minutes. I had it on 2 hours. Creates some other issues, like requiring you use a password often, but at least it doesn't go back to the home screen while you are in a call.

If this issue is related to having the Simple PIN lock activated, then the solution is to deactivate the security lock. This is really aggravating when the PIN lock is Exchange-server enforced (some employers insist that the phone has security).
Personally I can understand your frustration as I found this was particularly annoying.
More information about this (and related Home Tab issues) here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=82944
The problem has been reported as a bug to HTC, and it has been fixed on the official ROMs that use Windows Moble 6.5. See here: http://forums.wmexperts.com/showthread.php?t=175297

Keylock turns off on SMS reception

Hi
on my new Orange SPV m2000, i configured the keylock to lock everything but the power on/off switch. But.. when i receive an SMS, an eMail or when Pocket outlook wants to connect to the GPRS network (and wants to show me the little bubble saying that i'ts about to do so) then the keylock is being turend off (=the SPV is being turned on) and i can use all the keys and the touchscreen.
since i often receive SMS when my phone is min my pocket, i don't really like this kind of behaviour..
doesn't anyone have this problem too? to me it seems like a basic windows mobile problem the way things are being made... or is it just a configuration fault of mine?
any help is appreciated...
cheers
pascal
Same prob with XDAII
Don't want to hijack your thread... but i'm having the same problem with SMS.
But also, every time i receive a phonecall, the phone unlocks, and does not lock itself again. So if i have the phone on silent, it unlocks in my pocket, and then my phone starts calling people by mistake until i lock it again.
I enabled the lock all buttons except power button option but this doesn't work. The only additional software i have running on the phone is TomTom2 and Towa's patch if that makes any difference. ROM ver 1.60.50.
Any solutions? I may otherwise have to get rid of my trusty XDAII otherwise
Thanks!
Sorry, I dont have a solution, but my phone does the same.
Its as if the phones were designed on a desk, and no one bothered to try them in the real world.
Ashby
Hmm... I don't have this problem on my XDAII and I don't think I ever had it. What ROMs are you XDAII peeps using? Standard UK O2 ROMs like me? (I'm up to 1.72 now.)
Wonder why my XDAII wouldn't have this problem but others might, unless it's a ROM problem.
This is a known problem with the Blue Angel, but not with the XDAII that I've heard of.
hi
i think there is alternative way to minimize problem. you can set your password for your phone, then when there is incoming call or message, even though it will unlock all button, but before you use it, the unit will ask you password. so at least you will not miss call anyone anymore.
I'm having the same problem with my Pda2k.
I've disabled all but the power button. And I do have a password on the device.
I've had the following scenarios happen;
Scenario 1:
Every time I receive an SMS, the device powers up, waits for the password - If I don't hear it it then proceeds to stay on and drain the battery.
It just doesn't seem to go back to sleep.
BTW - the unit gets very warm...
Scenario 2:
Even when I do hear it, I often find that the unit is frozen - ie I try to type in the password, the asterisks show on screen but it seems nowhere after that. I'm running Pocket Plus, which has had problems with HTC devices - but I'm not running the today plugin at the moment.
Soft Reset is the only option.
Tom
Yes, i think we are all in the same boat here. The problem is that the device wasnt designed to be in your pocket (I know.. I know.. Pocket PC). Problem being, on recieving sms/mms/call the gsm part of the device sends the wake siganl to the O/S, causing the device to power on.
The simple solution as mentioned above is to lock the keys (password) but again as mentioned this can cause alot of power loss because the device will not sleep if your leg keeps trying to enter the password (in your pocket). I'm guessing that why so many people tend to use the belt clips with these devices. :?
I'm sure it will be in the next feature request so that only the LED indicator will change and flash if chosen but until then we all have to look like geeks with belt clips.
If anyone knows of a registry hack or app that can stop the wake signal form annoying us all the please post.
Workaround
Hi there,
Same problem on my 9090. But I had this on my former crappy iPAQ 6340 too.
Here's a workaround which works for me:
Go to "Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications"
then select tab "Notifications"
in the "Event"-dropdown select "Messaging: New text message" and uncheck "Display message on screen". Uncheck for "Phone: Voice mail" and "Phone: Missed call" too.
BTW: The warming device is just a feature: you don't have to buy a pocket hand warmer in winter!

Or use a 3rd party software like the ones described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=15573

i-mate PDA2k Phone hangs when Password is enabled.

Hello
I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction.
I have enabled the simle 4 digit password on my BA.
On an incoming call the screen becomes available to allow me to answer or reject the call. Normally when I press 'Answer' I can take the call. Then the password prompt will be on the screen.
The problem is that about every second or third call the password challenge won't show up, but the phone application is shown. There is no exit button in the top right corner, I can't make calls, I cant switch it off. The only thing i can do is that I can receive further calls.
The only way to get out of this is by soft-reset.
This happened with the original ROM. So I upgraded to 1.40 in the hope that this would fix it, but it didn't.
I have searched a number of forums to see whether other people have similar problems, but couldn't find anything.
My PDA2k is stock standard, with the only addition being Adobe's PDF reader.
I would appreciate any suggestions to solve this problem (apart from not using a Password challenge), as I'm sick to death of having to reset the device.
Thanks in advance.

disable touch screen answer

I am having a major issue with my HTC TP2, if I get a call even with the screen locked (off) and phone locked it will auto answer.
This can be an issue in a business environment. I am not particularly fond of the thought of clients being able to listen in when I am speaking with other clients or attorneys.
Do any of the flashed ROM's eliminate this issue? or can someone put something together that would require more than just a tap on the screen to answer?
I will have to roll back to my previous phone if I cannot fix this issue, and I am really digging the capabilities of this unit.

Maybe you have activated the auto answer function in phone options?
Start the phone application, select Menu, Options. Take a look at the the last but one page.

Tilt 2 freezing when locking phone...

Has anyone else had the problem with the Tilt 2 freezing when locking the phone? It doesn't happen all the time; but every so often, it freezes on me and I have to reset the phone to get it to work again. I haven't come across a solid answer for why it does this, so in the meantime I've reverted the locking mechanism to the Windows classic version, not the Windows default version that comes set on the phone. I do like the idea of the sliding unlocking mechanism, but I don't want to deal with the freezing. Is there a fix for this problem?
You are not the only one. I was wondering if it was S2U2.
I have been leaving my phone unplugged over night the past two nights to get a feel for the battery life. When I go to wake the phone in the morning it was either a blank screen or just the title bar before it froze. I had to reset to get the phone to work again.

I've had bad experiences with S2U2. I had installed S2U2 on my 8525, and I ended up having to do a hard reset. One day, after having to power down and restart the phone, it just wouldn't load. It got stuck in start-up mode. I don't plan to use S2U2 again. I'm not sure if the slide mechanism that comes standard with the Tilt 2 is related to S2U2 or not...
I am wondering if it is a conflict between the NEW WM lock slider and S2U2. I have a corporate exchange, so I have to use the PIN access.
I have the PIN set to appear in one hour if not in use. However, when using the WM slide locker, it ALWAYS reveals the PIN pad. If the PIN access did not appear after every WM slide locker, I would use it.
I changed the settings in for the WM lock to use the classic - thus eliminating the WM slide to unlock.
I will leave it OFF the charger tonight and let you know the results tomorrow.
Switching to WM Classic for the lock screen seems to work.
The screen did not freeze when I went to turn off the alarm this morning.
So the solution to use S2U2 is to change the Lock screen on your device from Default to Classic.

Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, I've done the same thing: switched from default to classic. Thanks again.
Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I too had this problem right out of the box. I switched to the Windows Classic as prescribed. However, this prompted me to get out the hand held drill and put a small hole right in the side of the back cover. I found myself having to battle the back cover every time I needed to soft reset, plus I noted the stylus needed to be removed to properly seat the back cover upon reinstall. Now I simply pull out my stylus and stick it in my hole. STOP IT!

Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I just recently purchased the HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T on 02/15/2010 and for a few times I can successfully use the screen lock and unlock feature but then it stops working and I have to go press the soft reset button. This is constantly a problem now. When I try to go and unlock my phone it allows me to move the little lock icon to the left or right but the screen remains locked.
I appreciate the suggestions to dumb down to the Classic mode but this is not acceptable for a brand new device. I hope HTC comes out with a hotfix for this soon! We need to make this issue known to HTC so they can begin debugging immediately. Or do I have a defective phone and I need to return my phone?

I have seen a post similar to this pop up multiple times in the past month. This guy was specifically having problems with his mail client.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634213
Personally I have only experienced this issue when the phone was next to my engine getting 400° temps blasted on it. Its hard to say the actual cause of the problem, but it seems in ideal situations (no 2000 e-mails or excessive heat) my phone is free of any freezing or strange behavior.
*edit*
also at the end of that post another user posted a work around that seems to be helping.

After returning my first HTC Tilt 2 phone and I got a second one, I got the same problem again.
I think I found the screen lock bug for the HTC Tilt 2 that I am able to reproduce. The problem is when I enable the Owner Information [Identification information or Notes] to display when the device is turned on and then try to slide the lock icon it will not unlock the phone.
HTC, please look into fixing this bug. Thanks!
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Press the Windows logo start key (the second key on the bottom of your phone).
2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Personal.
4. Choose Owner Information.
5. I populated everything on the Identification tab as well as a note to contact me on the Notes tab.
6. Choose the Options tab.
7. Check mark either the Identification information box or the Notes box.
8. Click OK
9. Now lock your phone by holding down the end call button.
10. Power off your phone.
11. Power on your phone.
12. Try to unlock your phone right away by sliding the lock all the way left or right.
13. You can slide the lock icon all you want but you will never get to unlock your phone.
14. You now need to soft reset your phone by taking the back cover off and using the stylus to press the side reset button. :-(
I hope this makes it into a downloadable bug fix. In the meantime, I have disabled (unchecked) any Owner Info notifications on device power up. I really miss having this on device power up as my old 7 year old Nokia phone was able to do that without a problem.

Since updating to 4.0.4 I cannot dial pass 10-digits

Sorry if this has already been posted, I did a search and couldn't find anything.
Anyway, this is a new issue for me as I didn't have this problem before getting my OTA of 4.0.4 last week. When I was on 4.0.2, I didn't have this issue - but I do now that I am on 4.0.4.
My phone will let me dial the area code + 7 digits, but if I am required to input numbers after the call is connected (like when calling your credit card company) the dial-pad screen and phone shuts off as soon as I click the 1st number.
I then have to turn on the phone, swipe to unlock, go back into the phone dialer and do this for each number input.
Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas/and or suggestions how to fix, or at least a workaround until Google gets it fixed?
Not sure if this matters, but I am stock GSM/T-Mobile.
Thank you.

This happens to me, however I only have to pull my hand away from the phone to bring it back to the dial pad.
I am guessing you have your phone set to lock "immediately" when the screen goes black (I have mine set to five seconds, so this does not happen to me)
What is happening (in my case at least) is an overly sensitive proximity sensor. It catches your hand, thinking you're putting the phone to your face, and darkens the screen. I have to be careful where I place my hand when I use the dialer after I am on a call (say, checking voicemail and entering password)
If your phone is set to lock immediately, try setting it to five seconds, and see if that helps.
This also happened on my GS2..

Thank you, I will look into my settings and change it. But as for the other thing, one has to have their hand on/near the dialer in order to input more numbers. Perhaps I can angle the phone and my hand in a way that the sensor doesn't see my hand over the dial pad. (What a PITA! lol)
Nonetheless, thank you for chiming in!
