home key - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I've been reading all over here about different apps and the (in)ability to change what the illustrious home key does. Everyone's had a go, but in each case it turns out you can mess with any hard/soft key except that one.
So am I pretty much right by saying that at this point in time, there's simply no way to change what the home key does on a Blackstone running WM6.5 (such as showing the Start menu or launching/toggling an app)?
Seems nobody can "touch" it...lol

wow...tumbleweeds ??
have HTC made it that hard?

Start bar on keyboard

hi guys , i know this might seem a strange question but like most my stylus is loose in the holder and i sometimes need to use the keyboard to do most things on the unit and i cant find anywhere that activates the start option on the screen. I have done it by accident once but nothing since. i have checked the manual and it mentions it no where all operations seem to be around the stylus?
does anyone know what key combination it is ?
I have a 02 phone and unlike tmobile which has a one of the 4 buttons on front setup to do this as one of the defaults.
cheers in advance
It should be ctrl+escape on a full keyboard. It might also be enabled by the windows or context menu keys, not sure what your keyboard looks like.
You can use my VJKeypress to get this as well. I think it's keycode 91, not sure, check my website.

Im talking about the blue angel, xda 2s keyboard thanks you for reply im not talking normal pc keyboard it does not have ctrl esc or alt on 02 xda 2s keyboard
Sorry! I've never seen a BlueAngel keyboard

Why not assign one of the hardware buttons to do this, each one can have a duel function assigned either a tap or hold, according to the phone, in reality this doesn't work (unless anyone knows different - latest O2 ROM - not messed around with), whatever you set for a tap is also carried accross to the hold function, go to settings and locate the power buttons icon select it, then select the button you want (ok for example) then assign the <Start Menu> from the drop down box, press OK, the device might want a soft reset (mine did when I just tried this), when it comes back up hit the assigned button, and use the four way thumb control to navigate through the menus, it saves sliding out the keyboard and it becoming loose - Mike
cheers for this when i tried to reassign buttons before like the camera it wouldnt let me change them ..i hate the camera button getting accidently caught same as the record one as well.
cheers for the advance will do that would just like to know for my own peace of mind as well how to use the keyboard to do it, it should be possible.

Lock single buttons

Hi,
I've been looking for an application that would enable you to select which buttons should be locked when the device is off. Right now, the only options are "none" or "all but the power button".
I'd like to lock all the hardware buttons except the "record" key (which I have mapped to MS Voice Command). That one isn't easily pressed by accident, so it wouldn't turn my device on all the time and waste battery life, and I'd be able to start MS VC without pressing the power button first.
Any ideas?
Don't want to be pushy but... *bump*!
Anyone heard of an application that does this? Or any developers interested in making one? I'm thinking... Vijay?
I think it could possibly be done, using a low level keyboard driver hack, but I'm thinking it'd be a little bit messy to program right now, I've got a few other things to finish first.
I'll try to test some ideas, but can't promise to release anything very soon

Hey, thanks for your reply! You don't have to promise anything... I was just trying to inspire you. But you have to admit it would be a useful app!

Multipress on Universal keyboard.

Hello, I was wondering if there's anyway i could press and hold on to 2 buttons simultaneously for my Universal (Dopod 900)
was playing some games till i've realised that i could only hold on to 1 button at a time. (eg. i can only hold Up or Left instead of moving diagonally)
searched for "keyboard fix/hack" in this forum as well as modaco's forum but having no results, tried 6700's multipress hack and it didn't work as well.
any clues will be appreciated. thanks.
it is possible, as you can press the function or shift keys and another one at the same time
yes, but however, it doesn't work on games. that require any two keys other than function or shift key to be pressed simultaneously. then again, i'll be googling around for a fix.
It's been discussed on here before, and IIRC the people with knowledge of the Universal's hardware said that this was a limitation of the Universal's keyboard driver. Unless someone is willing to attempt to write a new keyboard driver (nobody was last time) this will always be a limitation.
Note that you can press a keyboard key and another button (e.g. the backlight button, or direction keys next to the screen) at the same time, which is awkward but does allow you to do multiple keypresses in games (with some practice!)
I think a better approach for the universal would be a macro-like program that allows one keypress to act as more than one. So, for example, you could program 'E' to be 'WD', 'C' to be 'DX' etc. and so give you an 8 direction d-pad. Maybe there's already some software out there that can do that, I don't know...
was looking for something like that as well. so far with no valid.

Maybe I am not asking the right question

Does anybody know where I can get a program that simulates the Back Button on many smartphone and some ppc devices. It is a "Go Back" aka "previous" aka "return" command that could be assigned. I would like to assign it using Hbutton to one of the buttons on my 8125.
I use to have a smartphone and now have a ppc. It is probably the button I used and missed the most. Easy to just go back a step if you made a wrong entry/selection etc, (kindof like the "up" command in file explorer, but different and a little more involved than the Alt-Tab for switching programs)... This would take me to the next level.
Thanks
CG
It's not that you are asking the wrong question, its that there is no answer...
You see all that 'back' button does is send the same code as 'Esc' key on your PC keyboard. (thats 0x27 if you are interested).
There are probably several utilities that can simulate this, but the problem is the whole OS and the apps designed for PPC are not made to take in to account the existence of a 'back' button so they just won't respond to it.
(Well maybe some will, but it will never work as smoothly as on smartphone and may have some undesired side effects).

Fn button actions

I have found a few things with my keyboard and wanted to know if they worked for other people. The 1key on my keyboard is also a power key so when I press Fn+1 the Fire TV actually fades to black like its gonna power off, but never actually does. The light even fades off when I do this. Also if I press Fn+ENTER it instantly reboots, which is nice, cause I do not have to hold down the remote buttons for five seconds to reboot. Fn+9 takes you instantly to the top page and Fn+0 takes you to the bottom, whick is good for browsing. The Fn+9 and Fn+0 do not work on the main screen, but does work on certain sections of the default launcher like managing apps, Fn+0 will instantly take you to the bottom of the list. I actually meant to write this a couple months ago, but somehow forgot so hopefully this isn't old news. The Fn+1 was the real interesting thing, cause maybe we can find a way to actually power down the Fire TV. Plus maybe we can find a way to maybe put a floating circle or something onscreen that when pressed does the same as pressing Fn+ENTER so we can reboot from onscreen.
Fn is just another modifier key like SHIFT, ALT or CTRL used for smaller keyboards to realize a full keyboard layout with less buttons. In fact on regular keyboards those Fn button kombinations are done with just one single key. The only difference to other modifier keys is that the FN+key combinations do also depend on the keyboard model and are not standardized. For e.g. your Fn+1 combination is just mapped to keyevent KEYCODE_POWER which is done on regular (multimedia) keyboards with the (single) power key. So nothing new here.
Actually until now there is no way known to simulate a keystroke on the FireTV via app without root. I little more detailed explanation why this is restricted can be found in this topic.
