What ROM are you using? Might want to try flashing gapps. Also, you are going to get flamed. The development section is not for questions, only contributions. Just a heads up for nest time.

be sure you wipe dalvik and cache so all 3 items. i have not had this issue reported so i cant verify it.
props for putting the Q in the title tho
I had the same problem. Here is how to find out what the problem is: first find the name of an app that you know for sure is missing from your Market. Next, you need to track down the apk file for that program (either look for it here or online). One you have the apk file, try to install by typing "adb install xxx.apk" from a console. Do not just install it from your phone, most likely it will just say "application not installed". When you type in the adb install command it will probably write out with a error code. Write down that error code and from there it should tell you what the problem is.
In my case, none of my apps that used Google Maps would install or show up in Market because I was messing around with the CM6 Gapps file which caused a certificate error.
i kinda had that issue now all of my downloads are saying unsuccessful....could anyone tell me why....and that's on any rom
Help, I rooted my phone and I don't want it installing updates. But I got this notification that it has downloaded a system update and will install it when there's enough power. So I'm going to keep my phone on low until I find a way to prevent it from installing. Any tips guys and gals?
Does anyone know what the update is? The development may like for you to extract it from your phone. Could help in future development.

I just had the same problem to what I did was let it try to install but it can't because u don't have stock recovery.so it will still try but it will freeze and just pull the battery out then turn the phone back on and it will load right into cwm then just restart your system from there and u will be good to go. Its fast and easy

If I am not mistaken we had an app on our Evo's called FOTa.apk, do a search for it in google and see what they say....I have it on my Xoom and it works fine
I am going to try shfub's method. I think he removed the .zip update file so the phone will have nothing to flash.
I don't know if it is permanent but I clicked on the notification, went to /cache, removed the .zip update file, went back to the notification, asked it to install, had it reboot to recovery and fail, and booted into android. It stopped bugging me and stopped trying to download after that.

Do the same thing, except this time, after the failed install, when you are back in Android, type in adb shell or terminal
su
pm disable com.samsung
Alternatively you could freeze System Updates in Titanium.
on goodness jb rom there is a goodness update section that allows you to download all sorts of cool stuff. after i download something...like a widget or whatever...how do install it ? do i use twrp install or is there some other method?
how do you unistall it or change it back? for example a bootscreen animation...if i dont like it, can i change it back to what it was before or something different?
also, on goodness jb - is there a way to make the notification drop down window have a full background rather than be 80% opacity ?
also, in exchange server, i have everything setup correctly for my work email. but when i goto my email it says its loading...but it stays like that with the circle loading icon and nothing ever loads up. Had our IT guy check the settings and they are right, but the phone wont connect
any help with these is greatly appreciated

I've never flashed the goodness ROM. If I have time tonight I'll d/l and load it up to see what I need to do. I'll post my findings tomorrow sometime.
I just received a notification of an OTA update to the Personalize app. I'm on stock ROM, rooted, unlocked, S-off.
Doesn't appear to be a big system update, but I assume I would need to go back to stock recovery if I want to accept this, yes? Any other way to dismiss the persistent update notification?
Thanks for any help!
Yes stock recovery is always needed for an official ota.

Usually for an application update, you don't need stock recovery. It just something like you download from Play Store. Download and install.
To dismiss the notification, you need to download then select cancel when it ask to install

It does say it's just an app it wants to install, but says it will restart afterwards and that I won't be able use my phone during the update etc. So I assume it's not a regular app update.
Thanks for both answers, I'll figure out which route to take later.

Maybe too.
To confirm, just download it then select install later
Connect to PC then browse to internal sdcard/download and see whether the OTA.zip is there. If yes then it's not regular app update.

Tried downloading and got a message that download was corrupted at which point I could cancel. I've still no idea what this update is, seems a bit suspicious as I just s-offed and rooted yesterday. Has anyone else received an update like this (see attachment).
