i have seen those barcodes at some windows mobile downloadables where u scan the bar with ur cam and it actually capture the url and put it in ur broswer, my question is, is there any generic software that works on window xp/vista that actualy at will and on anywebsite i u wanna transfer that url to mobile phone at a click of a button it generates a barcode that translate directly into windows mobile browser, i think diveloping such application shouldnt be complicated too, just translate all 102 keyboard charaters into graphical bars, and depending on whats writin on ur address bar it generates a picture which another app on windows mobile would read and translate directly to the broswer
anyone up to it?
I think this is what you're looking for, but I'm not sure...

hi to everyone,
thanks to this forum i started to use opera 8.5 on my qtek 9000 but infortunately every time i receive an email with a link it launches ( as i click on the link) PIE. is there a registry hack to modify the default inetrnet browser or am i condamned to copy the link and paste it on opera tu use it?
thanks for your help.
I know this answer is not up to the level of this forum...but maybe it is better than no answer:
I have installed Netfront 3.3 ( i definitely believe it is superior to Opera) and it allows to select NF as the default browser.
I had installed Opera and deinstalled it later, so I cannot check if it offers such an option to select it as default.
Andy.
Answer
To set any browser as the default one
open a registry editor
point to HKCR
and the extensions that you want the new browser to open:
htmlfile
http
https
ftp
url
xml
go to shell\open\command\default
For opera9 modify into:
"OperaL.exe" %1
it should be the same for other browsers
What the f**k!!
This is a 2 years old thread!!

Opera 9.5 gives you the chance to set as the default borwser and works like a charm! I have not tested Netfront.
Cheers
Thread may be 2 years old, but it's useful to me. I am trying to kludge together a way to have Opera open up when I click on a shortcut in the Favorites folder, which I have attached to the start menu. This will allow me to store/sync my favorites through my work desktop IE, since I'm not permitted to install Opera on it. (BTW I'm actually using a Titan, but I figure the reg hack should be the same. And I have a used Uni in the mail, so I sort of belong here!)
Under HKCR->urlfile->shell->open->command, I have this not including the quotes: "operaL.exe %1"
This triggers Opera when I click on sopmething in my Favs folder, but it fails saying that the local file is not available. Am I missing something, or is this not possible? I somehow have Opera set to open when I click a link in an email, so I should be able to copy the syntax of that reg entry, but not sure where to look for it.
TIA
What do I change it to if I want it to Pocket IE? When I open the "Video Sites" for Flash Video Bundle, I get Opera Mobile 9.5... I can't access the videos straight from there. Can someone help me out?

Hello everybody!
anyone knows a good, preferably free tool, which allows to edit the contacts on the pda on a desktop pc? i am not using outlook...
thx,
krz
You could use thunderbird and other free tools to sync your contacts/calendar/mail and in this way edit your contacts on a desktop pc.
Read this: http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/02/26/how-to-sync-your-pocket-pc-with-thunderbird-mobile-minute/
thx, LGSilva, for your answer. this is not a bad idea, but still not what i am looking for...
maybe there is no such thing, like a standalone contacts editor...?
Found another solution for you: http://www.mymobiler.com/
My Mobiler v1.0 (06/24/2007) - FREEWARE
View your mobile screen on your desktop.
Control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
Copy/Paste text between mobile and desktop.
Capture mobile screen.
Drag and drop files to your mobile.
Requires ActiveSync connection.

wow, very cool indeed!

Hi, is there a way to force Internet Explorer to show normal internet sites, instead of automatically forwarding to a mobile version? for example, www.google.com goes to www.google.com/m
I presume this is something to do with Internet Explorer, rather than the network.
Cheers
It's to do with the site. Your browser forwards information about itself to the site, some sites have code to detect this and offer a mobile version.
The way to stop it is to make sure the browser doesn't forward this information, something that's likely very hard to do with pocket IE (if it's possible at all).
mmm... yeh i did wonder if it worked like that... oh well!
opera is able to identity itself as a desktop browser, try that :_)
ok cool. Thanks
Is it the Opera Mini (Java) ??
-edit- THIS PROGRAM IS AMAZING!
Hi,
No, he is talking abot the Opera v.8.65 for PPC where you can set the Browser to send another browser identification to the requested site. But you can use Sktools as well to change the identification of the internet explorer.

Ok thanks
I used the registry hack to do that but I wouldn't recommend you to use Pocket IE for viewing the desktop versions. Use Opera, Minimo (awfully slow!) or Picsel browser. Picsel Browser is the best but can't be downloaded really 100% legally since it is owned by Samsung and is licensed for Samsung phones. If you don't care then you'll have a very nice browser.
i upgraded to the 6.1 ROM today. it kicks ass!! thanks everyone. i have one question. is there a setting so that when i'm using the internet i go to the "regular" website rather than the mobile version?
when using wm6.0, i could log into my yahoo account and it was the same as the site on my desktop pc. now, after installing wm6.1, i get directed to yahoo! mobile which doesn't have all the features of the pc version. specifically, i can't check my realtime fantasy baseball stats for the day.
do i need to change something in the connection setting for IE?
thanks.

I don't use IE that much, so I can't help you there. But I can recommend using Opera Mini (free), Opera Mobile (not free) or signing up for the Skyfire Beta (free). Also do a search for Deepfish on this forum, get the cab and try that, it may work.
If im not mistaken....Deepfish needs an activation code. That code is provided by Microsoft.
we have deepfish on this forum?
and the same thing happens in opera mini on some sites...ive managed to trick it inot skippin the mobile mail layout but other segments are in wap format.
i just downloaded opera mobile, and opera mini...opera mobile won't open on my dash...i click the icon and it flashes the opera mobile screen for like 1/10th of a second then goes back to my homescreen.
opera mini gives me the same issue...it opens yahoo! mobile.
i'm thinking something in my connection setup is letting yahoo! know that im accessing via a mobile. can i change something in my connection setting to trick yahoo! into thinking i'm accessing from a pc?
thanks again.

If I'm not mistaken, I've downloaded Deepfish from xda before and used it(shhhh!), but it wasn't on my blackjack, that was on my Wizard. I prefer opera mini.
no not your phone, its yahoo
Actually on Opera Mobile you can, if you go into menu->tools->General->scroll to "identify as" switch to desktop computer.
Then hed over to www.yahoo.com
You're usually sent to the mobile version of the site. I wish I can remember the actual link to the desktop page but I can't. I had it on my favorites before I flashed my phone. Sry dude. There is a page you can go to though.

i re-installed opera mobile and it seems to work this time.
thanks...
however, if anyone knows if i need to change my proxy settings or whatever (noob alert) so IE will go to "regular" yahoo!, please let me know. i don't want to have to pay for opera mobile after the 30day trial expires.
I would recommend using Opera Mini. This program kicks but and its really fast.

yes, but opera mini sends me to yahoo! mobile...not the "full" yahoo! site. that's the problem...yahoo! mobile doesn't have all the functions the full version has. opera mobile allows me access to the regular yahoo, but when my trial expires, i'm back to square one. i guess i'll just pony up the $20 or whatever to register with opera.

I believe its yahoo and your device itself. When a website, ie, yahoo, has a mobile version as well, it checks to see what kind of device you are using and directly sends you to the correct one. I believe by default and even on cooked roms that the PIE is set to identify itself as Pocket Internet Explorer to work in conjuction with mobile website version but you can just change that by you using either Schaps configuration or Tweak2k. Search for it on here.
That's a damn good question. I'd be interested in finding out how to "mask" as a desktop computer if possible as well.
I don't have a solution for the yahoo home page but you can bookmark the main fantasy page and it will have the full desktop version using Opera Mini.
http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy or
fantasysports.yahoo.com both work for me.

You don't say what browser your using but if you want a well speedy browser, Opera Mini, open up PIE type in google mini.opera click link it will offer version click bottom where it says alternative version "something like that" then click top download as will be signed and not always ask if ok to connect to net.
Don't use for bank as uses a server for compression........
"PIE is notoriously slow no matter how big your connection, same with Skyfire yes it loads then renders while viewing down page, Opera Mobile is my choice if need a full fledged browser"

PIE = Pocket Internet Explorer so just what you are using
Try Opera Mini as it flys and compresses images so can save on data, like previous use PIE for bank details etc as Opera Mini users a server.
