Few Tilt2 Questions - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I'm trying to figure out how if there's an option to turn off the "message sent" notifications... not only the ones that pop up after you hit send, but I'm also getting notifications on the toolbar...I guess part of TouchFlo that says "Message sent" ...always have to hit "Dismiss All" ...gets annoying.
Another thing I wanted to ask was how to make shortcuts and put them on the Start Menu. I made a shortcut to my Storage Card and one to my Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder so it was easier to get to, but when I go to open them on the Start Menu it says "cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file".
If I go thru the File Explorer and actually open these shortcuts from the "Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder", they open...but they won't actually open on the Start Menu itself. Any ideas?

You can use the Advanced Configuration Tool to set 'SMS sent notification' to disabled.

Awesome! Thanks so much!... mmk...got the 1st one covered. Anybody know how to solve my 2nd problem?

glad you got your first problem settled. as for your second problem...that's kinda weird...when I had my kaiser (tilt) I was able to create shortcuts using file explorer and they would open.
I don't have to do this on my Tilt 2 since I'm using NRG's Manila 2.5 ROM which has shortcut buttons on the home tab. I'll try making a shortcut on mine to see if I can get a shortcut to open from the start menu. I'll report back my results

yea, I was able to get my shortcuts to work.

Yea, it's probably cause you don't have the Stock Rom. Mine won't open from the Start Menu for some reason. Sucks. They will in File Explorer thou.
Anddddd my first problem isn't fully solved either ...the notifications in the toolbar up top went away by using the Advanced Config, but I'm still getting these little "Message sent" text windows right after I hit send, pops up at the bottom of the screen...there's an option to dismiss, its just annoying ..anybody know what I'm talking about and know how to get rid of that alert?

Im using this disable sms sent notification form this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1081873&postcount=1
It's over here on XDA in one of the stickies somewhere but I can't seem to find it right now.

Hi:
For what it's worth, I am using the stock ROM, and I am able to create shortcuts in Start by copying .exe, then pasting shortcut to windows/start menu/programs.
Also, I used Advanced Configure to disable message sent notification, and I do not get any kind of notification when I send sms or mms.
Are you sure you haven't installed some program which is causing your phone to act up. A hard reset would probably help.

Tune of that "Sent" bubble!! Easy!
Try this!
* Use Total Commander to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox
* Create a new key with the name Settings
* Enter Settings
* Add a new DWORD Value with the following values
o Name: SMSNoSentMsg
o DWORD Data: 2
o Base: Dec
* Perform a soft reset
bye bye bubble!!!

Awesome! Thanks! That did the trick! Still can't get the shortcuts to work thou :-/ I'm copying the .exe to the Start Menu/Programs folder ...they wont open from the Today screen. No biggie I guess.

Windows Mobile Start Menu

I was wondering if there was a way to add and remove icon shortcuts for programs in the start menu
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mircosoft\Shell\StartMR U
InitialOrder > Remove links in this key to have all apps in alphabetical order or add links in the order you choose.
@quicksand - i believe that is for the MRU only.. which appears only in the Homescreen..
@casezin - Try to sync your phone, explore, locate /Windows/Start Menu/, and you can add/remove shortcuts/folder there..
There's a StartMRU and a StartMenu. I put the wrong key it it should be
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mircosoft\Shell\StartMenu
order > Remove links in this key to have all apps in alphabetical order or add links in the order you choose.
I apologize for that mixup. What i posted in this post is correct.
By Editing the registry key you can put your apps in any order you like as opposed to having the default apps at the top and user installed apps below those.

windows mobile 6.5 start menu
I have installed an application (to be specifies the application is called mobidiv and it is for language support) on my windows mobile 6.5; however after the installation the start menu is not working anymore! It’s there however it’s is disabled
I had a similar problem with the installed application when I was on windows mobile 6.1; however the problem was with the sms email threading, the application for some reason disabled it.. after searching the web I was able to fix the problem by going into the registry key and enable the sms email threading feature again.
Now, I guess the application has done it again but this time with the start menu, can any one help me with providing the registry key for enabling/disabling the menu button for windows mobile 6.5
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry but what device are you running wm6.5 on? I don't think anyone with an excalibur is running 6.5!
i dont know what phone or build your using, but mine is an htc touch pro 2 running 6,5 and i absolutly haaate some of the stock apps that come in the start menu
i was playing around on it a few weeks ago and found where the folder is that holds the icons for the menu
you can make new folders while in here, delete shortcuts, and rename them.
heres the folders you need to open:
->start
_->file explorer
(make sure you are on the top level of "my device")
__->windows
(this should be the last file available)
___->start menu
____->programs
once you reach the programs folder you should see an alphabetical list of your folders folowed by an alphabetical list of your app shortcuts, just like you would on any computer.
just hold select and then press delete.
it will ask if your sure, press yes.
if it tells you that a related program might be using this shortcut, it means that you might have either a tab or an icon on your home screen linked to that particular shortcut and you would have to re link that tab or icon to the program or risk loosing it entierly.
hope this helps

i just saw the date of the original post ^ ^;
might be alittle to late to help the original situation but this still works none the less

Text Messaging softkeys after change to WM6

With WM5, the softkeys were
Left softkey: New (text message)
Right softkey: Menu
after upgrading my Cingular 8525 to WM6 it is not that useful:
Left softkey: Delete
Right softkey: Menu
In effect, to create a new message I need to select Menu and then New.
Is it possible to assign New to the left softkey?

Nope, not if your talking about in the messages screen. You can, however, set a soft key on the today screen to New SMS.
this has been a problem since the leak of WM6, search around, can't remember if theres a solution or not because it doesn't bother me that much, most of the time i'm replying to texts.
Take a look here, and here.

Thanks for a quick answer. I have no idea why Microsoft decided that the typical action when going to Text Messages would be to delete a message and not write a new message. You may store hundreds of messages without noticing a dent in the available memory.
How to create a shortcut from the Today screen to New SMS or reassining one of the softkeys to this function?

Use softkey changer (attached). If it gives you the error "missing file tnsms" then drop the attached corresponding file in ur /windows folder.
Kiitos Karhu and thanks mcorrie1121. I will test your solutions.
The SoftKey.cab from the link in Karhu's post is the only thing needed. One item on the list of commands to assign to a softkey on the Today screen is "New SMS". Works perfectly.
If you do not mind one more tap you can also use WM5 New Menu - provides more options than just new SMS.

Reassigning my Soft Keys

I am using the app "Avanced Config" to reassign my today screen soft keys. The left is "telenav" and works fine. I am trying to reassign the right one to read SMS and, when clicked,open my SMS inbox. The steps I followed are:
start>advanced config>menu>key mapping>right soft key...
The right soft key section has 2 boxes. In the first, I entered:
20#"\Windows\tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -open "inbox"
in the second box, I simply put SMS
on the today screen, the right soft key is now SMS but, when clicked, gives me the error: the file tmail.exe -service SMS...cannot be opened...
any suggestions?

hi
not too familiar with advanced config as i'm using this app (attached). it's simply called "remap soft keys". unzip the file, copy and paste it directly to your ppc. put it in your programs folder or any section you want. it works well (i'm using a u1000 with a 6.1 rom) and there's no need to type in commands.
hope that helps
hey thanks
will give it a try
seems easy enough but...
where should i redirect it to for the sms functionality?
did you copy and paste it directly to your programs folder (in your ppc)? if yes, click on the icon. there will be 2 fields where you can assign the soft keys. example, my left soft key is for my phone. so i simply hit the browse icon, go to my programs folder, click on the phone icon and there you go. i can also rename it so that the soft key has a different designation. example, i can rename it to something funky like "vista mobile pro". clicking on it will still bring up the phone function.
for you, do the same above but instead of the phone you can assign the messaging icon on your programs folder
cheers
oh, forgot this one. try it as well.
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...ms-and-change-softkeys-on-windows-mobile-ppc/
keyswop - let's you make direct shortcuts for new sms messages as well remap soft keys. it's actually more extensive than the previous app i attached.
cheers

Select - delete all sms by drag down?

Hello
On my qtek 9000 and on my HTC PRO i was able to drag down my stylus, starting with the first msg i want to delete and highlighting all the messages as i drag downwards. Then click "delete" and delete all sms at once
In my HTC PRO2, there is no option to select all messages by drag down
only 1 message can be selected at once.
I noticed this behavior also in some HTC PRO ROMS, so i suppose there must be a registry value that allows or disallows selecting all sms at once by draging down
Is anyone aware of this?
I will appreciate any help, since i need to delete about 500 sms every day
Thank you
Best way is to slide the device open, hold the CTRL key down, and click each message you wish to delete.
Laborious I know

No, that's pretty darned accurate!! Mine is UK Vodafone version and says All/ All below/ several when you choose Select Messages from Menu. Easy peasy
Thanks
I know that
I also have found InboxExtender.CAB helps a lot (Deletes all messages with one click)
But why is scroll down selection disabled in some ROMS?
Can you select and highlight messages by scroll- drug down?

It's so that you can actually scroll with your fingers. For how much I scroll through messages and how little I select multiple messages, I'm happy. But, you can't please everyone.

Link to the Control Panel

Hello guys,
After a long search on the web I can't find the answer to "How to create a control panel shortcut on Windows Mobile".
Out of the box, our Rhodium are packaged with a "Settings" shortcut in the start menu which links to the Settings tab of Manilla. I find this annoying, if i want to go to the manilla settings, i use manilla not the start menu.
So I want a direct link to Windows' control panel. I've seen many ways to link to a specific applet, but not the whole control panel.
Anyone can help ?
PS : Also I'm looking for the HTCSettings.exe file stored in every Rhodium (WM6.5 version)... I've accidentally deleted it :/
Thanks !
I am not sure I understand the question, but I think what you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.. If that is correct, the solution is simple. Click Start>Settings>ToDay>Items>TouchFLO 3D>OK>X and you should have it. What you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.
Hope that helps.
what he is saying is that he wants to got to the control panel or "settings" from the start menu, when you hit start and then settings it takes you to manilla settings
What annoys me is that the Bluetooth and Today screen prefs are ONLY available through the Windows CPL, things like QuickMenu don't see them..
You got is cs400, that's what I'm looking for.
Someone can send me the original HTC Settings.exe (Located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs) ?
Okay guys, I figured out how to solve this problem by hanging around in the registry !
How to change the "Settings" icon in the Start Menu to make it open WM's Control Panel rather than Manilla's settings panel ?
- First go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and remove (or move) the file HTC Settings.exe
- Then go to the registry \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo and change the value HideSettings from 1 to 0
- Reboot your device, it's done !
I am trying to change the 'Settings' button in the Start Menu to open the WM Control Panel instead of the Manila settings, however, the \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo key does not exist in my registry. Is there another way to link to the Control Panel? Thanks!
WM control panel shortcut
I would appreciate anyone telling me how to make a shortcut that links to the WM Control Panel.
Thanks!

Thank-you a million times! Just installed something that crashed my HTC Sense, and couldn't for the life of me work out how to get to Remove Programs so I could un-install it! I now have my phone back, without having to go down the hard-reset route which I'd feared was my only option.
you could do as htc intended and clicked "all settings" on the settings tab for those manila doesnt cover.
Which would have worked brilliantly....had I been able to get to the settings tab in the first place.
With Sense freezing, I had to run the 'change my background' option from 'Getting Started' to get into the Today options and disable Sense. Then use the tips in this thread to get the Settings folder back on my Start Menu. Normally I would have used the All Settings option, but couldn't in this case, and it's funny how much you don't realise is missing from a start menu....until you need it!
