Need help with 'Now Playing' music list, unable to delete - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I've got a UK Touch Pro 2 from Orange with the official latest Windows 6.1 (!) ROM on it, and transferred about 10 songs from itunes onto it earlier. So far, so good.
I then decided actually I don't wat those songs, so I managed to delete them from the storage card, but they're all still showing up on the 'Now Playing' list along with little exclamation marks as if to say it (obviously) can't find them any more.
Does anyone know how I can clear this list??
Many thanks!

Hi --
I've been spending a lot (read "too much") time with the TF3D audio app recently, loading lots of music, so I have experience with your issue.
Basically, the Now Playing list will not reset until you "make" a new one, i.e. until you choose to play something else and thus have something else "Now Playing." Strange, but that's how it works...
The easiest way is to go into the Library, and choose one of the following that DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY OF THE DELETED SONGS: 1) an album; 2) a playlist; or 3) an artist. Then select any song from that category. The music player should now bring you back to the Music tab home screen, and you'll notice that only the songs from that category will be in Now Playing. When you go back into the Library the deleted song listings should now be gone completely.

Thanks jasmithers, a very useful tip - I shall give it a try!

The Touchflo music appears to be quite worthless. I cannot get the app to identify any artists, albums, genres, etc. I have approx 1400 songs in the sd card and it finds nothing.

If you mean that the tracks don't show up at all, perhaps they are in a DRM format, e.g. iTunes' .aac, that the music player can't read?
If you mean that the tracks show up but the artist/album/genre ID doesn't show, perhaps the data hasn't been entered into the tracks? On your computer, right-click on one of your music files, choose "Properties," and see if it brings up any info. If not, you can manually enter it (although it's a time-intensive process).

The TF3D music player keeps losing the indexed list of songs by artists, albums, genres. I will go to Winmo media player and scan for songs. The TF3D music player uses the scanned list from media player but it seems to lose the list after some action that I have not identified. Should not be this difficult.

how do i play more than one track at a time in windows media

on the jas jar., i've hundreds of tunes loaded on a storage card.
i can see them all on the card using file explorer but can only ever play them one at a time?
i can highlight them all but i can't seem to find any option to 'play all' or anything similar?
i can see a repeat and shuffle feature which hints it can be done but how do i get the tunes in to start 'shuffling' ?
please help
thanks in advance
im windows media, do a scan and it'll put all tracks into the library, you can then skip through using the previous and next track buttons
Or get a better media player. I've given up on Windows Media as I think the file handling is horrible (playlists etc.) I have been using TCPMP - The Core Pocket Media Player and I think it's much better. Even though I think people primarily get it for it's video capabilities, I mainly just use it for the audio. It's officially free, but if you like it you can make a donation to them.
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download
I do not have the Jasjar with me but as far as I remember in WM you go to menu choose open file and then the folder and start playing the first tune.
Then it continues playing what ever is in the folder. You can also skip what you don't want to listen

"All Songs" in TouchFlo music library won't scroll.

Hi.
I just found a problem with the TouchFlo music player, and wondered if anyone else had the same problem.
I've got all my music nicely organised, with album art, and it all works a treat, until I try and scroll through "All Songs" in the library. Basically, all the songs jump off the bottom of the screen, and usually stay there. I can't scroll up to go through the list of all songs.
Anyone else have this problem, or better still, does anyone know of a way round this?
Basically, if I've got "All songs" selected, and it's on shuffle, I get a good selection of all my songs. If I want to select a particular song, I should be able to scroll to it in the library and play it. Because of the problem, I'd have to select it via either the album or the artist, and that would change my playing selection from all songs to album/artist instead.
What a pain!
I only want to listen to Nurses Whispering Verses without losing my place! lol
I have this problem as well. Dont know a way around it tho. When i scroll up or down all my music just disappears and I'm lookin a nice bright EMPTY screen. Its annoying!
What is the best way to have album art for each album on the HD?
Hello it is a known problem with the current HTC album. It seems to be from having too many songs. I happened to me when i added about 600 or 700 songs. I tried reducing the number but had no luck until i remove them all and then readded only 450 or so and it works ok now.
For album art first you need songs arranged in /Music/Artist/Album then you can either have Folder.jpg in each album dir. or you can attach the album art to the mp3 in the file info. the album art should be 200x200. both methods work for both album and S2P using the Folder.jpg is necessary for Win Media Player.

I had the same problem. then I solved everything, simply by moving the music folder!
I have had that problem as well. Present on some roms, not on others. Not present in Duttys 1.9
Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll try moving the folder to see if that has any effect, or just put up with it since it's only a minor annoyance, and just hope HTC sort if in a future upgrade.

You don't have to worry about the size. Mine are all different as I just googled for them and saved the biggest I could find for each album. Sometimes it wouldn't show an image, so I just deleted it and downloaded a different one.
I've got this problem and troubles me a lot,
I have over 500 songs in the library and it seems that the problem was due to too many songs on list
i think if you use advanced config or HD tweak to increase the cache size used for hte TF3d it would work properly then .. and faster scrolling too .. i am not so sure . i had this problem i did tht and deleted some songs ... then it worked fine
Anybody has a real solution??
anyone????

I'm using another rom and it's working perfectly now (i'm using this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=562952 but it's working with every new roms i think)

putting MP3's onto my desire

Lucky for me I still mainly buy CD and not downloads
So, how to I copy my CD's via my win7 pc to desire complete with album art work?
I've tried two options.
One is doubleTwist
The problem I have with it is it's slow at times, especially when starting and the initial sync with your device. It also handles tagging for compilation albums very poorly. For example I have a Motown album. Obviously there is no main album artist, and each track has an artist. In iTunes there are separate fields for Album artist and Track artist. doubleTwist can't parse this data and creates an album on your sd card for EACH and every artist it finds. So rather than my folders being organised as on my PC like Artist>Album>tracks, with this Motown album being found in Various Artists>Motown 50>tracks, I ended up with dozens of extra artists each with their own album called Motown 50. So there would be a Stevie Wonder folder...he'd have an album called Motown 50...then there'd be a Marvin Gaye folder and he'd have an album called Motown 50 too. SO as you can imagine the Album view on the media player looked a mess! There's also a complimentary Android app in the market which is actually much better than the built in music player. You also don't have to use the desktop app to use the Android app so give that a spin either way.
Next option is MediaMonkey
Now this is much better. It not only helps you organise your music, allowing for tags that even iTunes doesn't handle, but it will fetch album art for albums you don't have them for...as well as tag info for tracks you haven't tagged. The downside is it's not the most user friendly of apps. I got a few settings wrong and it scattered my music in random locations all over my SD card...it was hell to clean up. It managed to maintain my albums and tagging though. You just have to be very careful with it.
I use MediaMonkey to manage my mp3 library and to sync with my mp3 player. Not the prettiest of programs and sometimes not that intuitive when you first start to use it buit its very powerful - free too unless you want it to rip mp3s for you then you gotta pay for the Gold edition. You can though always use another ripper.
For my Desire though I just copy and paste the files to the SD card. MediaMonkey has already sorted out all the tags and album art for me so those are part of the file copied. I find it's far easier this way.
why can you just do what I do , copy them over in HDD mode , or even take out the Mme card and copy them over , and add a jpg to the folder where the album is .. eg album called wham be in a folder called wham with wham artwork as a small jpg... easy ...

works well
On a Win7 PC you have everything you need without installing any other software
Open up Windows Media Player and use that to BURN the CD. This will create a WMA (go for the WMA lossless option if you want the best quality) file.
Windows Media Player will automatically identify the CD, download track and album info and even the album art information if you want.
You can now start creating playlists. These are lists of tracks/albums that you add to.
Now connect your Desire in HDD mode. Media Player will take you through the sync process and allow you to choose which playlists to sync.
Now everytime you connect your Desire to your PC and run Windows Media Player, it will automatically sync your playlists to your device where you can then listen.
For some reason, most people forget about Windows Media player yet for a non iTunes user it is probably the best solution out there because it does the sync part so well

works brilliantly
Im going to go against the grain and NOT recommend Media Monkey (although I do love the program) it just isn't reliable for ID3v1 tags.
Use whichever program you want to rip the mp3, there's a host of free software out there on 30 day trial, or limited use, all of which will do the job.
Use Tag Clinic (currently 4.3)
to fix your tags, use only ID3v1 tags, strip out any id3v2 tags (there are two seperate views for the two tag version in Tag Clinic, which is what makes it better and simpler than other software.)
Also only use the id3v1 generes that are available int he dropdown list, this I found as the only way to get reliable genres to stick.
Add jpegs of your album art to each folder, keep the dimensions less than 300px X 300px otherwise some players will not show it, regardless as to whether the file is available. also call the jpg, folder.jpg. (this is where media monkey IS helpful as you can copy an image from google images and paste it into the album art preview window and select 'save a copy to the folder as folder.jpg'
you should be all set, this I've learned after piddling around for hours trying to get MixZing to work with my SD music collection. I've read all the posts and made a few discoveries on my own.
Until ID3v2 tags are recognised (or recognised in parallel with ID3v1 tags) then this is the only way to get your collection showing properly.

music & sd card / memory

I've been trying to figure this out on my own for a while and haven't made any headway. I have about 3gb of music on the internal memory and about 10gb on my 16gb memory card.
In general I am having trouble getting all of my music to be seen and to play. In the HTC music player most if not all of the albums show up, but are missing songs and the like. DoubleTwist doesn't see any of the songs in the internal memory and has the same issue with not seeing all of the songs on each album. The cubed media player shows 89 albums of "unknown" artist that contain a bunch of the songs that aren't showing where they are supposed to, but have a length of 0:00.
All of the music appears when I browse the card in astro.
I've tried using SongBird's FolderSync to copy the music and I've used doubleTwist, along with just dragging and dropping the music folders. It seems no matter what I have some set of the same issues.
What are people doing to actually get all of their music to copy and play properly?
me too...finally someone else who is seeing the same issue....EVERY 2.2 ROM has done.this and it DID NOT group almost everything into an (UNKNOWN) artist folder ...
I've noticed no media player will read artist folders properly..root explorer and astrology...(file managers) have no problem seeing the files and the proper names its just the phone and its media reader
1900 songs on my media card and 1700 of them are grouped as unknown makes media player almost unusable...
Also I've noticed that if u are looking at artists and go to album view it even reads those and orders those properly but still lists them as unknown artist
anyone have ANY insight would be awesome
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I have spent about 2 days now tagging and retagging my music. I have about 2700 songs all on my internal storage and was upset when it went from being mostly, properly, sorted to all "Unknown Artist". I tagged and retagged and then tagged some more. I changed the album art and double checked all of it time and time again. I've formatted the memory, restarted the phone, flashed an updated ROM and have yet to figure it out.
I am currently using Virtuous 2.5. I had the issue using Virtuous 2.1 and 2.3 and Adrynalyne's Third Wave (but not his FrankenROM). It's pretty annoying. I am hoping that someone can shed the light on this issue. I haven't heard many people talk about it, but it is one of my main issues with 2.2 thus far.
I guess that I'm lucky to have a main gripe be something as trivial as the way it sorts the media, though.
Glad I'm not the only one, but really, did re-tagging help? I don't have the time to do all of that. A lot of my files won't even play, even though they appear on the card in Astro and have a reasonable file size. They show up in the media players as 0:00 length.
Anyone have any success? Is this a 2.2 issue? It occured on SkyRaider 2.5.2, 3.0, and the latest Virtuous ROM.

The extensive tagging did nothing. It made me feel better, because I know that everything is right, but little more than that.
It seems like it is a 2.2 issue of some kind, I'm just not sure of where or what it is. Which is why I came here. I don't see many other posts concerning this issue, so I assume we are either a minority or are missing something very simple.
I just looked through my music more closely after a new sync using the new version of doubleTwist. It looks like the HTC Media Player is not seeing the first 4 or 5 tracks of my albums on the SD card. It looks like it is seeing most of the music on the internal memory.

I ran a Media Go (some piece of garbage Sony syncing software) and Windows Media Player sync today. I synced them right over the top of each other, hoping that at least one of them would work. I see a lot of album art and I see a whole lot of songs, but for some unknown reason the Artists are all "Unknown".
Every. Last. One.
I have them split into albums and I've got plenty of songs that seem to be set up properly and have the art that goes with them, but under the "Artist" tab, it refuses to recognize. I never had this problem when I first got my phone and I am sure it has something to do with the newer ROMs.
Again, I don't see many people talking about this... so, I have to be a minority or an idiot. Maybe both. Hopefully I can get the problem fixed. I'm going to go on a tagging spree and try to get a dozen or so songs working so that maybe I can spend another couple of days getting all 2700 or so songs working. =(
Alright.
I did some digging. It turns out that there are either more people with EVOs or they communicate far better than the Incredible community, because I found several threads pertaining to issues similar to this with the EVO.
Thread 747895 right here on XDA.
Android Central has a post about a similar issue - (32456) problems-music-player-after-update under the Droid Incredible section.
Basically, it looks like WMA and AAC files refuse to acknowledge their tags, properly. Sorting them by song name or into folders by album seems to help a little, but the tracks still seem to have issues recognizing artists and track numbers.
There are other problems, apparently, but these seem to be the ones mostly likely upsetting my music player.

I first documented this issue here, but did not have info at the time that is also affects AAC files:

Update - I discovered that the doubleTwist player will read the ID3 tags properly, so it is obviously not depending on whatever item in Froyo is messing this up that the other players are. The one downside is that it currently does not ignore ring tones, alarms and notification tones stored on the SD card. This is supposed to be addressed int the next upcoming version.

Using Songbird 1.8 and the MSC plug-in, I transcoded my library to OGG and it is working perfectly. DoubleTwist no longer sees any music, but the HTC player is working well and cubed seems to be running well, except for not seeing any music on the internal memory.
The bug is clearly in how the music players are reading the MP4 files from iTunes. F-ing Apple.

[Q] Unknown Artists?

Alright, so this has been bothering me first some time now.
When I go to my music app, I've noticed a bunch of my songs being labeled under "Unknown Artists".
Now, it never use to do this so I don't really understand how it happened.
I checked my SD card and everything in Root Explorer to see if there was any data corruption, but everything looks normal.
Has anyone had this problem before? What would you guys recommend? Thanks!
Another weird thing: I try to go to change the tags so I can put in the correct artist, but the Tag already shows the correct artist. The library just displays it as "Unknown Artists"
This has appeared on multiple music apps btw
The tags on the song aren't done correctly. Happens a lot on torrented music.
Download any of the countless album art/ artist finder apps and fix it.

Well, I don't know. The tags USED to work, and app finders are led to believe the tags are correct except in any Music App.
I'm having the same problems. I spent a few hours making sure all the tags were right using media monkey and still, my epic does not pick up the artists. picks up album art, albums, song names just fine. I think it may have something to do with iTunes. I used iTunes and converted all my music to m4a's (iTunes AAC format) and I read somewhere else that the android uses ID3v2 tags? Correct me if I'm wrong but thats the next step for me... converting everything to ID3v2 tags (if they aren't the same that is).
EDIT: Yes. I just converted one artist from .m4a (aac) to a .mp3 using iTunes and that solved it for me; that band now shows up under the Artists and not under Unknown. Hope this helps others.
If you need help I can post more.
More proof that ITunes is the Devil...?
