I've tried CS, primere CS numerous times but "due to your account" so they say I can't get the phone for cheaper than 350. Is there any other way to get it for cheap? I notice Tilt 2 is on letstalk.com for $200 but I've heard horror stories about them. any other suggestions?
Edit 1:
I've been searching for the best deal to get a Tilt2. So far buying from the internet gets you the best deal because AT&T retail store and their customer service do not have a price match policy so you're stuck at paying $349.99 with $50 MIR. Few are able to buy at lower prices but had to talk to numerous CSA so YMMV. There are many websites you can buy from but only from 2 original companies, 3 if you count Amazon. All the online stores seem to point to either wirefly or letstalk.
Wirefly Advertise the Tilt 2 as "Tilt 2 Mocha" and charges $199.99 regardless plan or add a line so I'm not going to waste any time on explaining how to get the Tilt 2 Mocha for cheap. Other online stores that use wirefly that I can find are mobiledia, cellstores, Newegg, Best Buy, and Searswireless. There may be others so if you find them post it in this thread. I will occasionally update this thread.
Amazon advertise the Tilt 2 for $149.99 for new account and 224.99 for renewal in case anyone wants to know.
I will concentrate this thread on letstalk and its Subsidiaries such as intomobile, crutchfieldwireless and especially walmart. Again, there may be others so if you find them post it in this thread. I will occasionally update this thread.
Alright down to the goods.
letstalk has many prices for the Tilt2 depending on your account.

Taxes
For new accounts, letstalk pays for your sales tax. For renewal, you have to pay for the sales tax. If you live in CA or TX you pay for the sales tax of the phones full price before discount.
Additional $25 off!!! (doesn't work if you're getting the Tilt 2 for free or no equipment charge)
When you're renewing your family plan you have to upgrade 2 phones. The second phone is priced much higher than advertised price. If you have pay for the phone (not sales tax) you can try "25RAFPCVER1
" to get $25 off.
>>> 25RAFPCVER1 <<< coupon code
Additional 2-5% off your total bill!!!!!! (I dont know how many percent but most likely 2%)
set up a bing.com account
log into your bing.com account and goto shopping then cashback stores
click on W then goto walmart store.
A popup will appear that tells you "Your purchase during this visit to Walmart will earn you 2-5% cashback. Make sure you see this popup before it takes you to the walmart store.
Once you're at the walmart store goto eletronics > Cell pHones
Additional info
Don't forget to enter the $25 off coupon code.
Double check your order and make sure it is exactly what you want before you pay for it.
Do not stop at any point and finish the order by phone. If you do you will lose the bing cashback.
Instead, pay for the order online then call walmart/letstalk. It may be helpful to check on the "Order by Phone" and get the session number when you call.
bing cashback takes 60 days to clear so think of it as a rebate.
This info is good as of 11-07-09

How did you manage to get that price. Even I am not eligible to for an upgrade. I contract is till next year Nov. I called the CS several times, and managed to get the price for 350 + 18 (upgrade fee) + tax + new 2 year contract from the day I buy the phone. Yesterday I was not able to order it as all the systems where under maintenance.
When is your contract going to end?
Maybe they changed the price since its available for everybody now and its listed in the website.
I got it before it officially came out. Just kept calling premier even though im not premier.
I guess YMMV...depends on how nice ur CSR that you talk to is.
I had to talk to many people before I even got someone who knew about the phone.
There's nothing wrong with my account. I have a primere account with pretty good monthly discount. I guess since I get monthly discount, they wont discount the phone.
Just got off the phone with Premier CS... told them to price match walmart.com's $199 upgrade price (which they did)...they also waived my upgrade fee and gave me free overnight shipping ...I still plan on sending in the $50 MIR...and I managed to keep my 2 year old cheaper rate plan all in the process.

cproaudio...dont be fooled!!! I got the deal in my above post and I have a 24% monthly discount
Just keep trying you'll find someone who will match the price for you eventually

Dont worry go ahead and order because i have ordered phones from them as well as my buddies but make sure stay on the same plan for 181 days else they will do the charge back since they will not get their commission from ATT. As long as you dont play around with the rules you will be just fine

Is there a way to do this while staying on the current plan you have? The current plan I have is a 1100 minute family plan for $70 that is no longer available. The site has "2-yr service contract renewal" as an option, but when I select it I still get brought to the plan selection screen.

Yeah, I don't plan on moving around. I've been with this plan for nearly 10 years when it used to be Pac Bell Wireless. However, in the order confirmation email I just got, they do show that I will be charged $80 for my contract extension. I don't understand why I'm being charged for the same plan I already have. Looks like I'll have to call AT&T and walmart/letstalk about this and get it sorted.

That I don't know. However, I was on the 700 minute family plan and then I put my kid on it and bumped it to the 1400 plan, but I've been on that plan for a couple of years. The difference in cost between 1100 and 1400 is $10, but you should call them and see if you can just get the phone. That's what I did, but you have to be clear that you just want to extend your current contract, not get charged for the extension, and just get the phone only. Pay attention to the invoicing you get through email and make sure there are no extra charges.
Most problems are people trying to 'cheat' the system for the lower price.. others are just bad luck (product damaged in transit, for instance.. or defective unit)
Orrr someone doesn't remember exactly when they got the phone and then they switch to a family plan, or lower their minutes, and get a $300 charge on their credit card a few days later... which is nearly impossible to 'fix' since you can't force at&t to repay the 'store' the commission...
That said, if you're smart (and a bit lucky) you can make out like a bandit.

Here's one. I bit the bullet and ordered the phone yesterday. The website shows $199.99 but backordered til 10/23. I got a text today saying that my smartphone is activated and if smartphone data plan is omitted, an appropriate data plan will automatically added to my plan. I dont care about the data plan because I already have it for my tilt. Today I check this thread and someone posted a new price of $99.99. I checked the walmart letstalk site, sure enough the price is 99.99. I called the lady that took my order. She basically told me to phuq off since the phone has already shipped. She said I can try customer service and I did. Again she said once the phone is shipped theres nothing she can do. I told her that I want to cancel the order. She said go ahead. She kept trying to hang up the phone by saying is there anything else I can help you with. I said yeah you can refund me $100. SHe said no but anything else?
Some people might say you ordered it at 199.99 why are you *****ing about the price now. I'm *****ing because the order was placed less than 24 hours ago. The phone was backordered til the 23. sales lady told me that they would ship both phones at once. I was under the impression that I have til 23rd to change my order because the site listed it as backordered til 23.
Now I have to cancel my order, ship the phone back, wait til my account is reverted back to upgradable status and reorder the phone again which will probably take 2-3 weeks.

It`s pretty scarce on detail, I guess it`s with 3 year contract. I figure I would post it for future T-Mo user...
EDIT: it's on a two year Contract.
If anyone gives it a try post your experience!
I used this deal back when I got my T-Mobile Shadow. I plan on doing so again for the Touch Pro 2, probably tomorrow. I'll post about how it goes!
A 3-year contract? People actually sign those? Aren't you (in the end) paying more than double?
That site doesn't even mention contracts... Where did you get the 3 year contract from?
It will require a 2 year contract, T-Mobile doesn't offer 3 year contracts.
Great deal
I already have a family plan that is maxed out (5 lines). Between myself, my wife, my 18 year old colege freshman, my 16 year old (HS junior), and 14 almost 15 yr old (sophmore) we were maxed out.
I ordered with this promotion getting a 2-line family plan (all activation, etc waived) and getting it for $300 + tax, etc for 2 of them shipped. Note that the promotion also includes other phones and the @Home package if you are so inclined. Awesome deal.
Basically, I am spending between $50 and $150 than many people and getting two of these phones for it. I had to get the new data plan. I have the old grandfathered $19.99 plan on my other phones and $10 unlimited family messaging plans... wish I could use the same plan.

So you now have 2 more lines than you used to have? Doesn't that cost about $70 more per month? That is $1680 for 2 years, FAR more than the difference of just buying 2 unsubsidized Touch Pro2s...
Would someone explain how this works, if you are already an existing T-Mobile customer? Do I have to call T-Mobile and cancel, then call this other number and sign back up? I know this deal saves $200, but this seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Plus, how do you keep your current phone number?
The number is T-Mobile Business Direct. They'll be able to handle everything on the phone with you.

My bad, I just assumed it would be the longest contract since it didn't mentioned anything.
I wasn't aware that T-mobile didn't have them, we sure as hell have them in Canada!
Thanks for the correction, good luck to the T-Mo guys, sound like a very descent deal!
T-mobile OEM on the AT&T network?
I'm wondering, if I buy the T-mo version, can I just SIM-unlock it and run it on the AT&T network, or will the radio ROM not work on the AT&T band? Any thoughts? sick of waiting for AT&T, and they're probably gonna fark up the keyboard anyhow.

Yeah 3 year contracts would suck! No U.S. carries have 3 year contracts. I actually select 1 year contract when I upgrade. I pay the same price as 2-year because I have AT&T Premier (you have access to Premier if you have a discount from your place of employment). This way I get to upgrade to the latest HTC phone every year. And every year around this time is horrible waiting for the next one to come out!

Lucky you, I mostly have to get unlocked phone which are expensive, no contract, but lotsa cash =/
Life was easier before 3G. I will mostly get stuck with crappy AT&T keyboard layout as well thought lol.
Called and ordered today, everything went down well
As an existing customer (off contract) my CS rep first offered to set up a new account (with a new phone#) or add an additional line to my existing account in order to take advantage of the deal. I asked if there was any way I could keep my # and get the deal, or if there was another deal somewhere in-between this and $350 the T-Mobile shops are asking.
She took a moment to check with her manager, who approved, and I got the deal with my current phone number, no problem. Also waived activation and added free shipping. Should have the phone by friday!
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've dealt with Business Direct instead of regular CS, and the folks there are amazing. Much <3 to Amy, my rep today

Nice! I played with the T-Mobile TP2 at my local T-Mobile store and I just can't wait to get my own! AT&T's version will supposedly release in October! So long!
I know most people hate the AT&T keyboard layout, but I prefer it.
Argh, perhaps I spoke too soon :/
The CS rep I spoke with had told me I should receive a confirmation e-mail along with a tracking # in my e-mail some time this afternoon, and that if I didn't I should call back to find out what was going on. So sure enough, no e-mail, so I called Business Direct back...
According to the rep I just spoke with, there was an "open order" on my account, but with no phone or contract details whatsoever. He could find no information about the voice/data plans I had set up, nor anything on the phone itself.
I intend to call back tomorrow, in the hopes that Amy (who had mentioned she was having trouble entering the data into the regular system and had to enter the information in manually(?)) has been able to clear this up. My fear is that another CS rep won't be able to give me the same deal Amy was able to work out with her supervisor. Bah!
Just called in and ordered a new line for our family plan and got the 149.99 price. The rep explained that since the TP2 orders have to be done manually it would take an extra day for the order to be completed. Phone should arrive 3-5 days.
Since I am already out of contract I will just cancel my current line once the Tp2 arrives. No Web plan was required to get this deal either. Just unlimited text messages which we already have on the family plan.
That's good to know, Kable. I'll give it some extra time to make its way through the system then

NOTE:
Information in this threat may no longer be as crucial as it was back in Oct 8, when phone was still unavailable for non-business customers. Since Tilt2 was released today, Oct 18, officially, make sure you explore all your options.
Price (WITH A NEW 2 year contract): $299 (NO REBATES), FREE NEXT DAY shipping with FedEx. NO CHANGES TO THE PLAN. AT all. Whatever plan u got - they don't touch it. (I get to keep my $19/mo unlimited data)
So, call this number: 866 499 8008 (corporate)
Tell them that you're not a business customer, but you _SHOULD_ be eligible for the Tilt 2.
They will ask for your number, SSN, etc, and will tell you that you're eligible and they have the phone (if it's not out of stock by that time... mine wasn't).
Say "YA BABY WOOO", then tell them that your wife/friend/cat got this phone thru this line for $299 shipped, NOT the $389 they may offer you. 5-10 minutes of persuasion and you'll get it. NO REBATES by the way.
Give em ur address, card number, boom - get ur phone next day.
Have fun. I'm getting mine saturday morning.
:dancing banana:
P.S: YES i know I posted this deep in another thread as well, but it will be buried in 10-15 minutes.. so to help people out (like me), here it is.
REBATE FORM (thanks to gmischenko): In addition, it seems you can get a $50 Mail-in-Rebate with Tilt2. You may not be eligible, but you should definitely try and send the form in.
Here is the Rebate Form
Oct 18 UPDATE: $199 Tilt2?
JML5150 is reporting that you can get a Tilt 2 for $199 with a new service plan HERE.
HTC Tilt 2 for $279
I was able to get offered the phone for $279 with shipping AND a one-time service credit of $30 or 3 months of a $15 service credit. The $50 mail-in rebate would still be available as well, bringing the total price down to as low as $184 ($279 - $45 - $50). This was calling 866-499-8008 and asking to speak with someone in Customer Retention.
To get this price, I was transferred to Customer Retention (or whatever it is AT&T calls it these days) and explained my situation. I explained that if AT&T could not offer a more competitive price/contract that I would cancel my service as soon as my contract is up (I am a current Premier customer, eligible for upgrade 10/15/2009 and contract ending 12/1/2009).
I declined. The reason: this still required a 2-year contract. Verizon is offering the same phone on a 2-year contract for $149.99 and on a 1-year contract for $179.99. Where I live, the Verizon & AT&T coverage is pretty much the same, as are the service plans/prices and my corporate discount. Therefore, the only distinguishing things are the length of contract and up-front cost for the phone, given the contract length. Verizon wins in both of these categories (not to mention the all black Verizon TP2 looking nicer IMO).
I switched from Verizon to AT&T last year when I got the HTC Fuze for free on a 1-year contract (this was the Black Monday sale on the Premier site the Monday after Thanksgiving). Long story short: I saw this sale about 5 days after I purchased my Fuze at 2-year contract price (1-year commitment because of my Premier discount) and it was a big hassle, but I finally got the first phone returned and my contract changed to 1-year (as was offered on the Premier site). I was excited to switch to AT&T because of the 1-year commitment with 2-year contract pricing, as well as the competitive pricing of AT&T phones vs. the other carriers.
Now I'm up for renewal and this is no longer the case. Everyone I spoke to at AT&T said that 1-year contracts are no longer offered by AT&T direct. AT&T National Business Orders (800-331-0500), AT&T stores, and independent sellers may offer 1-year contracts, but AT&T direct does not. Also, the AT&T price for the phone is more than twice the price that Verizon charges and AT&T can't even compete with Verizon's 1-year contract pricing. After explaining all this to the retention rep she offered me the phone at $279 with 2-year contract and 3 months of $15 service credit).
FYI: Speaking with Paul over at National Business Orders (800-331-0500) he gave me the following prices:
2-year contract: $349.99
1-year contract: $424.99
No contract: $499.99
SO, my plan is to wait a little bit. If the phone price drops to between $150 and $200 soon (or to $0 the Monday after Thanksgiving ) I will consider re-upping with AT&T (after speaking with Customer Retention again). I just can't justify spending AT&T's asking price right now, given that it is so much higher than their competitors and they do not want to offer a more reasonable 1-year contract price.
Excellent advice, gmischenko, once again proves that prices these days are something you wanna fight/threaten/yell about...
Good deal you got there, and definitely everyone should try that Pure/Tilt 2 rebate form to see if you can get $50 MIR.

Someone with a Pure gotta put one up here for Tilts..
FYI guys, there is at least one person confirming that his data plan was automatically upgraded when he put his SIM into a Pure:

Says it took about 48 hours to register his phone in the system after he put his SIM in and then he got a text saying his plan had been upgraded.

commas are your friend =)
If you're getting $388 without contract, that's pretty good imo.
If you're getting $388 with 2 yr contract, that's way too high.
Mention verizon deals, ask to speak with supervisor.. be polite.. i dunno =)

She did NOT ask anything about my data plan, or adding data to my plan. I ordered on my wife's number that does not have data on it.
Next day shipping was $14.00, but I'm expecting it next day anyway since I'm one day shipping from Memphis. I didn't want to chance it, and I figure next day delivery is more likely to deliver on a Saturday.
Yeah guys, I think the reason they are not asking anybody about their data plan is because the system is changing it automatically after it detects your IMEI.
Post back after you get your phones and let us know if your data plan changed (after the Online Account Manager detects your new phone).
In that other threaqd, the guy said it took about 48 hours of his SIM being in the new phne for the system to detect his Pure. he then received a text message saying his data plan had been upgraded.
He was not under contract, and bought the Pure at the no commit price (full retail).
Called the Premier number twice again. I had called yesterday and said what OP did, and was told they were backordered.
The first time, I was told I couldn't order it on the phone due to pricing inconsistencies. The second time, I was told it wasn't available until the 18th.
I suppose I'll just wait for the consumer launch?

same here, ordered late yesterday afternoon through premier. $349 + $14 for next day.
finally
just called again and was told that they are not allowed to sell it until the 18th because of the price inconsistency. she said that on the 18th, everyone body will be able to get the phone for the price that premier customers are getting it for. i'll try again in a few minutes.
UPDATE: so after calling a hundred times, i got tired of getting the 388 price and all that crap. so i said ''F it'' and called retention and told them i wanted to cancel all 5 of my lines because they are selling it for almost double the price of verizon. the guy went to go check something and came back and said that he could do it for 259.00 with the upgrade fee waived, free overnight shipping(i tried to use a rebate card i got from att but he said that it all has to be on ONE card, so he waived the 15.00 overnight shipping) also got a early upgrade so i just used it on a line that wasn't due for an upgrade until 2010.
Also, i asked for a tracking number but he said that the system wasn't showing a tracking number, but he gave me a conformation number and told me to call one of the ATT lines or something along those lines and give this to them and they should be able to tell me where my package is and so forth. my question is does anyone know how this work? which ATT line do i call? preimer or business? thanks

My rep specifically said that they will NOT change the plan, as this is an "Equipment Upgrade Only".
Besides, I will try to use my old Simcard, as I always do at an upgade..
I'll post with results once I get it (it's out for delivery, will have in withing a couple of hours).

I'd keep calling, for some reason this phone's launch for AT&T is a total mess, every rep has different information.. Keep calling, talk to their supervisor, put up an order to ship once available.. Maybe it will help.
On Thursday I got an Email from Ebay that they are selling Smartphone for 25%Off w/2yrs contract... went to their website saw that it is actually BestBuy who is selling the phones. NOTE2 Costs $329.99 minus 25%. that comes to $247.49 + Tax... so i order a white one and they already shipped it out and i am gonna receive it on Monday....
This deal is good till November 8th 2012.. so any of you guys that are interested you can get it for almost $250+Tax either upgrade or new Activation.
Last week i bought a Titanium Gray Note (wanted white but didn't have it) from T-Mobile store $250 + full manufacturer price TAX that came up almost $300 with Value Plan that I am not happy.. i need to add two more line and if i do that i am gonna end up paying more that classic plans so that's why i was looking for a classic plan deal that i found from EBAY.
DON'T forget to add the Promo Code during checkout to get 25% Off - PromoCode: EBSAVE25. LINK to EBAY
Looks like the classic plan is only good for talk though, no texting. Although, I'm sure it could be added on to the plan later

if you are new to tmobile on the classic plan, switch to the value plan, pay your 200 bucks and you just got a phone for 450.
EDIT: I was thinking of doing this deal but I was just at Costco and they said they will get the note soon so I will probably just go that route and hope they have a price that is comparable, plus no activation fee.
Those two plans offered looked like garbage. I think you will be paying for it in the end.
I have a grandfathered 200MB plan. The order went through, but I'm keeping my fingers that I don't get an email back about there being a problem with my order.

If you do this wouldn't you need to pay Tmobile ETF fee, eBay ETF fee, activation fee, and one month of service with the classic plan?

Yeah, I've been looking at the details trying to figure out if I can save money by returning my phone ($650) and buying this. I don't think I'm going to do it. The only fine print I can't find is the eBay ETF. Is there an extra one?

I wasn't able to find an eBay/BB ETF either so maybe there isn't one? I know with some companies like Amazon or Wirefly they have their own ETF. Since I still have 3 months left of credit on my prepaid plan I guess I'll be waiting til there's no rebate to try this..

you would just pay the 200 dollar migration fee from classic to value, as far as I can tell, costco nor bestbuy charge any etf other than the carriers etf. you still need to pay activation but you pay that pretty much everywhere except costco. as for the one month on the classic plan, thats a possibility, but still thats a 20 dollar difference for one month so still a decent deal.
Dang my main line with data isn't due for an upgrade until the 10th, two days after this promotion ends. I wonder if I could use one of my non-data lines to get this without adding Data to that line.

My order shipped today! The upgrade went through and I'm getting this phone for a measly $270 with tax, shipping, and upgrade fee included while only paying $10 a month for 200MB of data (and $10 for my voice line and $5 for 400 text messages) as far as I understand. I logged in to my T-Mobile account and it doesn't look like any of my plans changed which is what I wanted. Thank you so much for the heads up on this deal!

Same exact experience for me. I returned my Note 2 on Sunday after seeing this offer. I just got the email telling me it shipped. This is MUCH better than going the Value Plan route. With the value Plan you pay the $200 down and you pay $20 for the next 2 years. You will never see the savings in the value Plan because you will be paying for the phone each month, which will bring the bill to the same (or more) as a classic. I went over this option with THREE T-Mobile reps (the knowledgeable ones, not the ones from the Philippines) and they ALL said the same thing tome: It doesn't pay to switch to a Value Plan when the costs of the phone payments will put me at or above my current Classic Plan amount. #WINNING

the reps are brain dead, you will pay less because 4 months of the contract you are not paying the extra amount, and with this price, you will pay much less by converting to value plan, taking the 200 dollar hit and being done with it.

I implore you to be patient. The phone is worth the wait. I'm loving it so far and I've barely tapped into it's potential!
So I haven't seen this type of thread yet, I was at my local Walmart and the tag was there but no phone, not even the dummy. It was listed for 198.88* and the * meant with qualifying upgrade or new agreement (2yr contract). I left there and dialed 611 and asked for retention to the bot operator. Once I got through, they wouldn't budge from 149 down and 20 bucks a month deal. I've been a T-Mobile customer since it was Voice Stream and the rep noted that, but still wouldn't budge. She suggested I go third party, but even at that route, I am not eligible for full upgrade until November. I have an old grandfathered family plan and I won't ditch it for the new plans just to get this phone, I'd buy a S3 before that happened. Anyway, has anyone gotten or found any better deals, Costco, Sam's (I didn't have time to stop in while on lunch).

In your case, since its a yera before you can upgrade, your best option is to buy off contract, waiting may have a drop in price, but how long to wait. At the rate Samsung has been releasing Galaxy series devices, it will be 6 months before we see the Note 3 or S5 lol. Wirefly may have deals, but third party seems to be an alternative. And if the sales rep is nice or want to make a sale, maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel for you.
May I ask how much you are paying for your data now? Do you have any promotions on data, like loyalty/BtV?
I'm aware that the regular rates for data under the Classic is $20 for 2GB (cheapest one). If you were put on the Bridge to Value, I believe that goes down 50% ($10). If you also got a loyalty discount like me, it is $5; and actually, that is $5 for 5GB of 4G/LTE data for each line - this is the Preferred deal through the loyalty department.
I'm asking because when I tried to upgrade our phones (we haven't upgraded in 4 years), we would lose those promotions ($5 goes back to $20). If you already pay $20 and this won't affect you, then just buy it cheap at Walmart. If you do have those promotions like me, you should have the option online from my.t-mobile.com to do the EIP plan and keep your plans and services unchanged.
Hope that helps.

Costco is $199.99 for 2 years. Unfortunately they don't have them in stock nor will they know when. My guess is May 15th, when all the 3rd party stores receive stock (keeping fingers crossed). I am actually willing to wait this time, save over $400!
Are you all on the old Classic plan still?

If you were asking me, my grandfathered plan is awesome, I got my wife with the $20 preferred android data plan which is unlimited data with no cap, mine was added later also at $20, unlimited with a 2gb speed cap. We have my faves still (free lol), unlimited text, 1000 family minutes shared between 5 lines currently, and after the wife and I added data for just us, our minute usage went from nearly 800-900 minutes use to maybe 100 give or take. Most of my connections and deals were always done via loyalty depart, back when all the reps spoke English and were easy to deal with.

So am I. Contract was originally expiring this month (May 2013). Called them back early March and thinking of quitting early, but offered some great deals (almost fooled me!) and I extended my contract (now ending 2015). There were some hiccups along the way, concerning how I can upgrade my phone and what was offered. After multiple calls the next few days, we ended up with what I think is a good deal.
So I have 4 lines on my account.
Classic 1000 Whenever Minutes - $60 (Shared)
Preferred Unlimited Texting - $15 (Shared)
Preferred Android Web (Unlimited Data up to 5GB of 4G/LTE) - $20 ($5 Each Line)
Add a Line fee - $10 ($5 for 2 additional lines)
Loyalty Discount = -$10
Corporate Discount = -$15
_______________________ TOTAL MONTHLY BILL: $80 + taxes. Not bad huh?
I'm looking at ~$2600 (include taxes) for my T-Mo service for the next two years.
Then I have to factor the cost of the phones. All 4 of my lines were using crappy old dumb phones. We haven't upgraded in over 4 years! So we got a Nexus 4 ($350), S Relay ($250), S3 ($300 total), S4 ($650?) = ~$1600. Now I just have to figure out how to lower the cost of that S4.

That's a good deal, I think I pay 90 for the wife and I, I just added a line for $10 for my son, and I split the bill with my parents, they just have voice lines with text and myfaves. Buying the phones up front and having a plan that is grandfathered and technically out of contract is where you save in the end. Follow the unofficial tmobile blog, http://www.tmonews.com/ good intel there and updated often.
Nexus 4 and S Relay were bought in Best Buy off-contract. I got them to price match. The S3 was bought through T-Mobile, as a new added line on my account for the discounted Classic price of $149-$50 rebate. It's been over 30 days so I plan on cancelling that line and pay the ETF of $200, which brings the cost for the S3 to $300. I am planning on doing the same with the S4, but the trick here now is patience. To be able to profit, I would need to wait on the price to come down. It is still $299 with 2-year contract. I'm not even considering places like Amazon and Walmart because of other complications. They also charge their own fees if you cancel early - this is because they earn commissions when activating or upgrading a carrier's phone, thus they can give instant discounts. BB does not have this policy (as of today at least).

Like I said, if buying the phones up front just to save a bit on the monthly bill doesn't save me a lot of money in the long run (over 2 years), then it's not worth it. Plus, it's not like everyone has $6-700 lying around to buy a phone for full price upfront. I had to find the cheapest good phones (Nexus 4 and S Relay). I am also adamant about keeping my current Classic plan and all the loyalty promotions and discounts. However, for my S4, I got them through the EIP. I paid the $200 down payment including taxes, and then $20 for two years. That brings the total cost to $680 for the phone.
I can't afford to pay that whole amount right now. It's too much. I gotta take the hit over 24 months. Now, I do have 14/20 days to see if there are better alternatives. one of which is that S3 approach.

I had grandfathered plan at $20 for 5 GB and one option in the order page was to retain your plan as is - which I did. Do not know if they would maintain the $5 - $10 plans if you select that option, but it stated that no change would be made to the extended plan.
If that was the case, you get the best of both - 2 more years at the low rates and the phone for $200.

That don't say anything, what did you pay, final bill?
After giving my T-Mobile Note 4 to my brother for his birthday, I tried to see if I could get a deal from Ma Bell themselves. I was successfully. They price matched the T-Mobile variant at $749.46. I did AT&T next at 12 month of $41.30, and received a credit on my bill for $77. Its not the greatest deal, but hey its better than nothing, right? Not too mention I plan on trading the device in after 12 months, so I will only have paid $418.
Just thought I'd share. Give it a shot, you have nothing to loose.

Yep, I've gotten 3 free phones ($600), 4 contracts given an early upgrade by up to 6 months, and probably $1000 in bill discounts by calling them over the last 7 years being polite, nice, and just asking them if they can help with stuff. Not happy with the whole locked bootloader garbage but they've always hooked me up on that end. Just call and tell them what's up and ask them if they think this is possible because you like AT&T and at least want to give them a chance to keep a customer, unless you owe them money or have burned them in the past most of the time they'll do their best to give you what you want. Just be polite, funny, and nice is they key. I called once and talked to a lady from an Atlanta AT&T call center and we ended up talking about how amazing her fried chicken recipe was and how her kids/grand kids loved it and I got a free phone ($200 waved) and 5 months early on my upgrade. It's crazy but it works lol. Good luck

Exactly. I was very polite and thanked him. I mentioned how my bill has never been late and is always paid in full. I was actually quite lucky because they didn't have to do that.
While I'm all down for unlocked bootloaders and root, the truth is, I tinker with my phone too much then. Its gets tiring having to switch roms every week. So I think I'm just gonna do my own thing and call it a day. While I fully support those going to the T-Mobile route, I just found that too much of a hassle. That and very rude T-Mobile staff.
Not only have I had retention credit me to help out a bit. I had them upgrade my wifes line a year early and next day her a new 32gb white s4 before our honey moon last year for free.
I see Sprint has the Edge for $840 as opposed to ATT's whopping $945! Going to call Retentions later and see if they will price match. Thanks for the heads up OP.
Let us know if you were able to get one out of contract for less than full price! I tried 3 times already on phone and chat; retention was ready to let me cancel rather than give me anything to stay. I have always been extremely nice on the phone and usually get deals... but am not getting anything to lower the price of this phone.

Technically this one out of contract as it was on AT&T Next's program. Instead of paying $825.99, they gave it to me for $749.46 (T-Mobile's note 4 price).

Just called ATT and they gave me a $100 credit. Which is cool since the difference between the Sprint Note Edge and the ATT one is $105.00. So I guess that's the way they price match since they can't actually change the price of the phone?

Are you also on the Next plan? I have found that CSR shut down as soon as I tell them I want to buy it outright and not on Next.

Yes im on the Next plan, if you're buying it outright you should be able to find a good deal online. You may want to try back after you buy your phone.

Do you all know if you on Next plan and you payed off your phone and you want to get new device you have to trade phone you just payed off. Loose , loose on your end. Better is to buy phone some where else for lower price because on Next plan you will end up paying full price on phone and do not get phone. You only trade in your phone if you want a new phone at 12 months. If you keep it 20 (making payments) the phone is yours to do whatever with. Also with my $25 a line discount it only ends up being $19 a month for my note 4 so I end up paying $380 over 20 months to own it free and clear vs $750 buying it outright.

How did you ends up paying $19 a month ? if you choose 18 months Next plan payment you ends up paying $34.42 x 18 = $619 plus you need to trade your phone. $25 line discount is for access not for a phone. If you agree to 2-years contract you pay $15+$25(discount) =$40. I and my wife (accountant) calculate all options and best way is to get phone on some other side then on Next plan. You will ends up paying full price on phone whatever plan and phone you choose from At&t..

I completely agree with you. Next is AT&T's way of charging you the same but making you feel better OR to get you to change phones all the time and give them the old phone back which they can sell for more. The best way is to get the phone out of contract and pay $15 a month under the "bring your own device" discount. My goal is to get the phone out of contract for less than the crazy $825.99 that AT&T is asking for.
Sample Calculation For All Options:
Note 4 out of contract ($825.99) + 2-yr of service with bring your own device discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with Next 12 ($41.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($15 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Note 4 with 2-yr contract ($299.99) + 2-yr of service with no discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1259.99
Sample Calculation for Next 12 to make yourself feel better but not really:
Note 4 with Next 12 and service discount ($16.30 x 20 mo) + 2-yr of service with Next discount ($40 x 24 mo) = $1185.99
Let's also consider that you turn in your phone at 12 months like AT&T wants you to; you end up paying $495.60 out of pocket and end up with nothing. AT&T, on the other hand, has to pay for the rest of the bill for the device, which is $330.39. If they could sell the Note 4 in a year for more than $330.39, which of course they could, then they are making even more money of you. You may wish to argue that under the "make yourself feel better" option, you're only paying $16.30 a month so after one year you pay much less than $495.60; great deal, right? No, you just paid the rest under the service plan. AT&T will gladly take your money.
Not sure where your calculations came from but why are you adding the discount to the bill instead of subtracting. I pay 41.30 for next 12 on my note 4 but with my 25off discount i pay 16 a month for my phone. 16x12=192. After 12 months i would only need to pay 192 and then i can turn my phone in and get a new one with no penalties and if i keepy my phone i end up paying 320. The access discount is only appied when you are on the next plan or buy outright so it needs to be considered in your calculations because if you sign a contract your bill jumps +25. For 2 note 4s on next 12 plus 15gb family share with unlimited calling and text i only pay 180 a month. Just playing with the at&t cart i added 2 smartphones to the cart with 10gb share and on contract and the price is 180. I pay exactly what new customers pay but with the option to upgrade early.

Exactly. I plan on doing this.
Anyone else get a deal through retentions?
I did this, I was pissed the ATT version was more expensive than the Tmobile version. Called retentions and complained, they have me a $180 credit. I since sold the ATT version and got a Tmobile one anyway.

Let me clear your mind. The $25 discount is for your line which they normally charge you $40. With the discount you pay $15 instead of $40. Your $41.30 payment stay the same no change what so ever.
