Is there anyone can help me how to configure text message so i can save text message and contact in my SD or my UIM Card ?
ok, please don't tell me, you really have a UIM card, meaning, that you are on a CDMA network, then the entire other thread you opened was redundant, BECAUSE:
cdma devices of the general shape and outlooks of the blueangel are called harrier, meaning they cannot be upgraded with wm6 anyways.
but to come to your actual question. there is no way to store your contacts or sms on the sd card directly. they need to be stored in the phone. if however you are planning on making backup copies of your pim data to the sd card, to not lose the data in case of a hard reset, download -=PIM backup by DotFred=- and put the app on your sd card and make backups to the sd card, that way you always have all your data save in case you somehow should lose the device's storage's contents.

Pull the card out and pop it in a Normal PC Card reader and see if you can see the contents. For some reason PPC's will occasionally corrupt the formatting of the card to majke it unreadable to it but PC's sometimes can. If you can read it with a PC, then copy the contents off, reformat usign the PC and copy the contents back and try it in the PPC again.
ok will do that. but isnt that dangerous to lose data tat way? also, when i could read the memory card, the folders r there but the files r gone. possible virus?
i can find my memory card on the card reader. i tried formatting it but it gave me an error "Window is unable to complete the format". What is wrong?
Were you able to copy your info off of the card? How were you trying to format it?
Make sure that you DON'T have a window to the card open when trying to format.
HELP ME WITH ADVISE!
My problem is back again. My data at certain folder in the memory card is disappeared but still able to browse the memory card. Then i soft-reset a couple of times and the data comes back. It took the dopod 838 pro to read the memory card very long time b4 able to show the data on the card.
What should i do?
Check the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager. There are two DWORD values - PNPUnloadDelay and PNPWaitIODelay. If they are not set to 8196 - do that.
its 8196 as posted...
Looks to me like 2 possibilities:
Your SD Card is shot; or
Your phone has lost the plot.
If it reads OK on the PC card reader, the card is probably OK.
I'd try a hard reset of the phone first. (Make sure you have backed up everything first.)
Also, clean the SD slot as best you can to make sure there are no biscuit crumbs or old socks fallen into the hole.

Seems like some problems with this card. You didn't try another one?
the other day I wiped out my contacts (while i was experimenting with syncing between phone and gmail account; unlike Xmarks, for example, there's no option for `maintain data on server; maintain data on phone; merge`). I remembered that my phone was set to back up stuff to the sd card, but I couldn't find any info in the manual or online about restoring it. Is this something I need activesync for? I use Linux which I'm not sure is supported. If I can't restore stuff then there's no point in backing stuff up. I'm not actually sure what is being backed up other than contacts; there's no provision for backing up apps; perhaps data (photos etc) but surely that should be being stored on sd card in the first place to conserve the tiny amount of storage out of your total of 576megs which is technically available in the first place.
I recently had to hard reset my TP2 (but removed the SD card prior). After the reset I inserted my SD card hoping I could retrieve files saved there, but it turns out that neither my phone or PC no longer reads them because they're encrypted - but it's the same phone. I'm not clear why the same phone would not be able to read those files.
After looking through the forum and further research, it seems those files are just plain gone - or at least not able to be opened. Is that true? I could see them on my pc (through a card reader), but could not open them through the phone or pc. My company enforces the encryption on the phone and the card.
So my main question is this: How do I back up these files so that I can retrieve the data on them if I should be forced to do another hard reset? I downloaded some purchased games to the card, some cab files, and a little music. I'm mostly just concerned about the purchased files. If I just copy them to another folder on my PC, don't they remain encrypted?
Just received my phone via FedEx from Wirefly.
I'm going to keep my 32gb sd card currently in my EVO and use it in my new ET4G. I assume when installing the card in the new phone, it will ask me to format it. That being the case, should I first copy over relevant folders/files onto my PC, format the card in the new phone, and then copy over those folders/files back onto the sd card?
Also, other than media files such as music and photos, what else can I continue to use on the new phone? I don't want to mess anything up. Specifically, can I use the LauncherProPlus backup and instantly recreate the homescreen setup on my old phone? Also, can I keep the titanium backup folder and hold onto it until root is achieved?
And a little off topic but anyone else get their phone this late in the day from Wirefly? I called the number to activate the phone (it's an upgrade and not a new line) and the lady stated that I had to wait until Monday to activate it because their activation group is gone for the day. Wtf!?
It won't ask to format.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I activated mine on the sprint website just entered the DEX number and restarted the phone activated on its own from there.
Formatting only affects the file system, so any FAT32 formatted card will be recognized in any Android phone without having to reformat. Just pop it in and you're good to go.
-NO, you will not be asked to format your sd card, so NO, u do not have to move files to/from computer
-YES, you can keep the backup of launcherpro on there, it will replace all your homescreens (except widgets, widgets do not get restored)
-YES, you can keep your titanium backup files on the sdcard, BUT i recommend you install es file explorer, and cut n paste the titanium backup folder from ur sd card to the phones internal memory... (install titanium backup first (it will not work), and a new folder will be automatically created in internal memory labeled titanium backup), just merge the two folders, 1 from sd card, 1 just created in internal memory
Hey All
I have been googling for 2 straight days and cannot find a n answer when i give it a clean SD card, whatsapp still wants the old.
Have i lost my whatsapp texts?, I understand the media is gone as per dead SD but the text i can still read.
Is there a way to add anew card or is the phone logically broken cause half of the memory is gone?
Any help would be good
Thanks
I had to look, I don't even find an option in WhatsApp to use the SD card I have installed.
Could you add some screenshots explaining the issue.
IIRC, most conversations are stored on the servers or your Backup anyway.
One reason why you're up to date if you switch phone, or number.
@argonaut459 thanks for the quick reply it's the fact of how to properly replace the sdcard if you have given the whole sd card to the android operating system it's a different format and I have put in a new sd card that works and my phone sees the extra space but clearly i did something wrong as Whatapp.
Can't save photos told the app to use sd card wont let me save
cannot even save screen shots ?
Tells me storage full so the phone is still believing the old sd is there even though when i gave it the new one it did ask how i want to use the storage and i did tell it to have it for the android OS
I have one of 2 scenarios either i have missed a configuration step or it's not possible to recover from a dead extra "ram" sd card
Sorry, just got informed you answered here.
As I said I have no clue about these things.
Maybe a factory reset might be in order to get the os back into normal, and than try out the SD card as additional storage.
If that works
Reset again
And try as integrated storage.
You really should check integrity and values of the SD card before you use it as that. They tend to just give up.
