This may be my dumbest post ever, but I find nothing on the topic. I lost my phone 2 nights ago and a nice lady found it and took it home to contact me. By then it locked to the default WM lock screen. Because it had locked, she could not see owner information and returned it to the restaurant. I got it back today.
Question, absent a Manila editor or 3rd party app (e.g. S2U2) is there any way to display owner information on the lock screen of a wm 6.5 sense (manila) stock rom?
M$ must have thought of this but I have no idea how to do it. Sorry if there are 1,000 posts somewhere on this topic.
Thank you!!!

Seems like such a good idea, id also be interested in this!
I don't yet have 6.5 but in 6.1 you go to Settings>Personal (Tab)>Owner Information>Options (Tab) and put a checkmark next to "Identification information" for the setting "When the device is turned on, display:"
Has this setting been removed from 6.5?

Setting owner information
I have a UK TP2
The only way I can find to display owner info is
From Getting Started, Set background, Change background image, Items tab
Disable HTC Sense, enable Owner Into - there you can enter the data and set to display on start-up
I hope this helps

Thank you, but it does not show when the device is locked in Manila. M$ and HTC are soooo stupid!
On my HTC Touch Pro 2 once its locked i get the owner information when i wake the device, but it seems that once you press the screen to access the unlock screen, you cant get back to the owner information unless you unlock the phone. Its a bit stupid that when you press the power button to put the device to sleep it brings up the owner information every time, but when its locked it doesnt. Pretty stupid if you consider that the only time you really need the owner information to be constant is when you lose your phone or it gets stolen!
I've been googling the whole weekend and did not find anything. Still searching.
Does somebody have any idea about how to show owner info ? As TPC knows the way to move right/left/down the "slide" button, is there a way to add the owner info to the screen ?
(I know S2U does have this option, but I mean using the built-in new unlock feature in WM6.5)
Owner info on lock screen HTC TP2
Anybody who help me out with the owner info on the lock screen? It worked fine in the previous BIOS version and in the latest released BIOS update it 's gone.
I'm able to fill in all the owner details, but it's not displayed when I switch on the device.
Awaiting for a positive response
Kindly regards
Andries
This is something I'd like to do as well. My previous Blackberrys had this and it was a nice feature.
I'm not on wm6.5 but try using WM's built-in Lock feature. On wm6.1 and before, owner's info is displayed before showing the password screen
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/v6-5/Lock-your-phone-touch.aspx
Has anyone found a good solution to displaying the owner information yet? I had put it in the 'hint' but this only appears after you have mistyped the password several times.
Ok, I've found a solution. You can change the text that appears under the slider (usually 'slide'). I've changed to my name followed by my phone number.
You can find it here.

It's a good (provisory) solution !! I think it's the best way to tell whose is the device or what to do in emergency case.
Now, what about connecting what is inside the sentence in the .cpr file to another file ? Does somebody think it's possible ? Or maybe the .dll file could be adapted to read from the "username" keys in the registry ?? (sorry for my question, I have no idea about programming)
Another way
I changed my welcomehead.192.png file to my own picture, and included text in the picture with my name and a request to call a phone number if the phone is found. All you need to have is a program that can put out a 480X800 PNG and be able to add text.
EDIT: The file has to be moved to the \Windows directory. This file says up for almost a minute when the phone boots.

Thank you for the tip! Between getting my name and email in the lock slider, and my DL# and email addresses in the boot screens, I should be good to to for now...just need to install RemoteTracker!
Setting Owner Information on Touch Pro 2
The option to do this easily was removed in 6.5. To enable this follow the advice below:
1. Navigate to Settings, All Settings, Today
2. Click on the Items tab
3. Disable HTC Sense
4. Enable “Owner Info” and tap OK.
5. Enter the Owner information that you would like displayed on the Today screen.
6. Highlight the "Owner Information", and go to the Options tab
7. Check that the "When the device is turned on Display" Identification information is enabled
8. Go back to Item 1 and re-enable HTC Sense
9. The Owner Information will now show when the phone is locked
EDIT: My ROM's Chef said that selecting the 'Owner Info' option will not allow the 'Options' button to function even though 'Owner Info' is enabled for the ROM that I am currently using. However, I was successful in changing my lock screen text by using the 1st posted method above (Customize or Remove Lock Screen Text).
I edited both "TapOrSlide" and "SlideToUnlock", because I noticed that my custom text would not display if I received a notification. Also, keep the number of characters to a minimum, so that it displays correctly. If it is too long, the far left and far right characters will fall off the screen.
Hmm, wonder if there's a way to add additional lines to the displayed text???
Many thanks to the original poster for posing a question that I didn't even know I needed to know!

Thanks so much for this, however, for some reason the "Options" button is greyed out (unavailable) in the Today Screen Item Settings page even though I have Owner Info highlighted... Damn! May have to try the other method. Anyone have any success with either?
I've also sent a message to my ROM's Chef asking if this is a bug or whether this is an option that was somehow left out of the build that I'm using.

jamiemckee posted a good solution that I use. Make a reg edit to revert back to the WM6.1 Device Lock & do away with the 6.5 Lockscreen. Just your Today Screen shows.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Enable
Default Value: 1 (for Sliding lock screen)
Changed Value: 0 (for soft key lock a la wm6.1)
I found this because I actually WANTED to disable the default WM6.5 lockscreen as I prefer the soft key unlock, partly because of the memory the sliding lock uses, and also because I want to be able to see the gorgeous sense 2.5 interface when I turn my phone on to see the time.
BK
This functionality has to be in the 6.5 OS somewhere. I used to have a TouchPro 2 with 6.1 and it displayed the owner information during power up. To get this information to appear on my Tilt 2, I had to download and install an app called SKTools. Now I have an applet in the Personal settings under the Settings option in the start menu where one wasn't before.
If you want to change the time limit that the notification lights will flash for this is how. For me it was grayed out before modifying the registry and having it flash for 5minutes is unacceptable for me.

Brilliant! Many thanks. It is beyond me why ATT disabled this.
Uh oh, not so brilliant. Now my notification SOUNDS continue past the first notice and chime every 20 seconds or so! Do you have the original registry settings? (Yes, I failed to note them.) I'm going to have to roll this one back.
You are right hopper13
I have updated accordingly to let you select time of flash and to DE-select the repeat box...
It's working a-ok for me now!

Hi:
Thanks for the great post. So far seems to be working perfectly. I only changed the setting for SMS (using the original, pre-edited settings you posted), since I got a little scared by the previous post, but I will change the rest after testing a bit.
So far, looks great though.
Thanks again!
EDIT:
After testing some, I found the same problem Hopper mentioned before. This only happens when phone is asleep. If phone is awake it works properly. I will try the new settings.
Ahhh, much better! My entire office thanks you! lol
New settings working perfectly
Thanks so much for this, I have been looking for a long time for this fix. I even tried NueLED, which did nothing but mess my phone up to the point of requiring a hard reset.
Thanks again!!
PS:
One strange observation; If the TF3D threaded messaging is left open (whether phone is awake or asleep), the LED does not flash on incoming message. Not a big deal though, since I rarely leave it open.
One question, will this also work for reminders?
Thanks again!!

It probably could work for reminders but HTC is controlling the reminders and there is a specific .dll that you need to make a copy of and rename if you want to modify snooze times. I saw a thread about it, but am in class right now so do some searching! I will too if I find time!

Hi:
I actually do know the post you are talking about regarding snooze time (which would be so awesome if it could be changed), but apparently any reg changes seem to return it to the previous WM notifications. But, that is actually not what I meant when I asked about reminders.
What I meant was, will the type of change you posted for sms etc also work to enable the LED to continue to flash when an alarm/notification etc go off? That option is currently greyed out like the others were.
Thanks again!!
Anybody willing to make a cab for these registry changes? It would top off this thread just right!
Thanks
I have applied the changes below (select hex and input "40000019"), but the constant audible alerts continue. :-(

How many notification LED lights on Tilt2 (ATT)
Hi,
Sorry for a stupid question: how many notification LEDs are there on the Tilt2?
My old HTC Hermes (ATT 8525) has TWO LEDs (one each on BOTH sides of the earphone). The one on the left is to indicate charging etc. and the one on the right is to indicate Event Notification.
I did the fix as mentioned in this thread, but it looks to me that my new Tilt2 only has ONE LED light on the LEFT of the earphone. There appears to be a "light tunnel" on the right of the earphone as well, but I have never seen it light up.
I am still trying to figure out the behavior of the Tilt2 notification light. It looks to me that it only uses the left LED. When it is being charged, it shows yellow steady light. When it is fully charged, it shows green steady light. Looks like it blinks in green when there is event notification (but I am not sure for how long and how consistent yet). Does this match to your Tilt2? How about TP2 on other carriers? Did I get a defective one (i.e. only one function notification LED)?
Thanks
decimal 31 is 1F in hex, and hex 40000019 is 1073741849 in decimal for those who cant choose.
this worked on everything but 15F11F90 which is reminders. anybody know how to fix this?

To my knowledge, the Tilt 2 only has 1 LED. The "light tunnel" you talk about is actually the sensor to determine the amount of ambient light, and does NOT light up.

Go and DESELECT the "Repeat" checkbox under Settings, Sounds & Notifications.
Yeah. Thanks for clarifying the LED count.
It appears to me that with the registry fix, the one and only LED will NOT provide notification feature when the phone is being charged. It only shows the solid yellow (charging) and solid green (fully charged) conditions and will override any blinking event notification.
It only provide notification function when the phone is NOT connected.
Anyone notice the same thing?
Please, can anyone help?
I just recieved a new Verizon Touch Pro 2 and am trying to find the tweaks to set it up the way I would like. Frankly, I have spent hours looking and have not been able to find everything. Yes, this is cheesy and weak, but I am just burned out.
I am looking for some help on how to:
1. Change the 'Start' menu to use small fonts and work more like the standard Start menu (I do not use the Touchflo interface)
2. Disable word complete when using the keyboard. My ham hands keep messing things up.
3. Unlock the top of the screen so touching the battery icon takes me to power settings, touching the connection icon will let me disconnect data or start the connection manager and touching the volumn will bring up a volumn control. I really dislike having that area just open notifications.
4. Is there some decent, free theme generator out there? I was pretty happy with the one I had on the Omnia 1, but the TP2 seems to be pretty locked down for Touchflo.
I am sure there are more things, but hopefully getting these key things accomplished will remotivate me to try and go and find everything else myself.
Thanks in advance!
Maybe if I am feeling up to it this weekend I will play with my old Samsung and see what use I can make of it. Until I brick it, most likely. I am thinking about learning to create my own ROMS, and seeing if I can create one with no phone functionality at all. Useless? Probably. But something ingteresting to do on these long winter weekends.
1. TF3D2 Tweak. This has this option. (Pretty sure that's the right link, if it isn't then Google is your friend)
2. When your is displayed, mid-left there is XT9 and ABC, make sure that ABC is highlighted.
The others I'm not too sure about. Let me know if this helps.
3. go to HKLM\Services\NotificationManager\ in your registry.
Change the "flags" entry to 4 instead of 0, and it should go back to the default windows mobile notifications (any value other than 0 worked for me to switch back to the old style, but I saw another post that suggested "4").
I would also like to apply that change to unlock the top bar but am getting an "Access Denied" message when I attempt to change it.. Using mobregedit to do it.. what should I do?
I installed Easy Launcher which puts short cuts on your today screen. I want to install a shortcut for the Settings-> Personal ->Phone. One day I will buy some software (maybe someone knows of some for free), but everyday at work I set my phone to no ring, and at the end of the day I want to set it back to ring. A short cut on my today screen would help.
Thanks

Why not just use the hardware volume button. Press it up or down, the HTC volume screen appears, select SILENT, and you are done! Or you could set it to vibrate.
I listen to music all day on head phones. I need the volumne up for the music but do not want the phone ring in my cubicle environment. Especially if I get up, leave my desk, and my phone has been ringing nobody appreciates it.

Well, you could disable the HTC Notifications manager. Then you would have the old-style dialogs for your data connection and volume. I mention it because the stock WM dialogs have separate volume controls for Phone and Device.
It is a registry tweak where you change the name of the dll file to something different. When you reset the notifications should be stock instead of HTC.
do you know what the registry change would be to remove the htc notifications?

local machine / services / notificationmanager / Dll.
Change it from NotificationManager.dll to NotificationManager2.dll and reset the device. If it works, when you click on the speaker icon in the task bar, you should get a dialog for just the volume.
I haven't tried this with my particular version of WM 6.5.x, but it worked on the stock WM 6.5.
could be done by simple script.
I have a script which automatically change backlight settings every morning and evening.
it's very similar thing, you only need to change values for registry entries in it.
Suppose on rhodium volume could be change directly through registry.
or you may find it on xda or I'll send it if you want.
these are those entries:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume]
"Ringer"=dword:99999999
from 00000000 to FFFFFFFF = level
and for vibrate:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
"Sound"="*none*"
OR
"Sound"="*vibrate*"

Brenda, did you ever get this working (a shortcut to a specific place in settings)? If not I've come across another way to accomplish it that's pretty simple, let me know and I can create the link for you to put on your startmenu or wherever
create an ANSI file backlightTimes.lnk with this text inside:
1#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,3,1
==
1# - num of chars -ignored by new wm
ctlpnl - calling cpl files
cplmain - main cp applet
3 - internal code - ID of applet window
1 - open on 2nd TAB
problem is some contrl panel windows are ignoring last parameter (TAB) and this one is, so you need to click again, then make your settings and click to confirm. Still not too easy

Yup, my thoughts exactly
I found some registry entries in my new HTC TP2 phone where can I set Pocket Internet Explorer default color scheme:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Settings
Now I wrote a small app, that can change this values, provide me an easy way to change IE color to night mode. (black background, white text, orange links)
Note 1.
This settings can't force IE to night mode. Only works on "color settings free" simple websites. I use http://www.skweezer.com to filter and speedup the webpages that I usually read, see screenshot.
Note 2.
I don't see this registry values in older IE's. Application cheks that the keys are exists. In this case probably things will work. If the keys doesn't exists I think this app is not for your ROM. However you can use custom stylesheets, but this is another story.
Note 3.
Don't forget to restart IE after you change color settings!
Note 4.
Yes, I have many ideas: Switch based on light sensor, time etc. Automatically restart IE... I can do it later.
This is way better than doing it manually <g>
Great application! Working smoothly on my HTC Diamond 2 WM 6.1
Thank you for sharing it here!
Currently I'm using this (save as a ~) text file (shortcut *.LNK) so I have an standard Icon for your (currently) Iconless application ;
Code:
60#"\Windows\PIENightMode.exe"?\Windows\sktools_icons.dll,-177
Download sk-tools their old icon set here; http://s-k-tools.com/sktools/sktools_icons.zip
By the way, before applying your application for the first time I used PHM RegEdit to export my previous settings;
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Settings]
"Text Color"="0,0,0"
"Background Color"="255,255,255"
"Anchor Color Visited"="128,0,128"
"Anchor Color"="0,0,255"
Screenshot;
I look forward in seeing you develop this neat application!
Thanks again
wish there was similar for Opera 10
Senax:
I didn't know Sktools iconset. Now I saved on my device to later use, great idea thank you!
Yes I don't like iconless applications too, so in the next release I will draw a nice icon. ;-)
And I will correct the "DAY mode" registry entries about "Anchor Color Visited" value. 255,0,255 was a mistake by me.
Bobzero:
Earlier I studied Opera's config, (about:config) and as I remember Opera can use user stylesheets.
If it's true, I can do it! User stylesheet is a better way to do night mode, because it will work on the original webpages not just Skweezer.net filtered pages. It's ture for IE too. I will try to make it!
Thank you for your responses!
Hope I can make next version on next week.
