Encrypted SD files are locked - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I chose to encrypt the files on my SD card using the option in under system. i have flashed to a new ROM and forgot to copy the files from my SD to my PC and now they all have locks on them and i cannot open them . anyone know how i can unlock them in any way or do i need to just delet them and move on?
TIA

Based on what I know of how the encryption works, I think you're going to be stuck deleting the files and moving on. Everything I've read says that you can't recover files encrypted by one handset on a different handset (which your newly flashed handset is, in terms of the encryption algorithm).
Sorry.

Thanks for your help

Yep, they're gone. When you flashed, you wrote over the key you need to decrypt them.

Mobile Network wont work after root

Hi,
I just rooted my Galaxy Note 2, build nzo54k.n7100xxdmc3.
I rooted using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2143479, method number 2. Now I cant use networking. There is a cross over where the network bars use to be. Everything else seem to be working fine. It rebooted a couple of times tho. Can anyone help me with this problem, how I can fix this. If I press "mobile networks" it tells me that I have to insert a simcard. I have the simcard in and tried to restart the phone several times.
I would appreciate any help that you guys can give me. Thank you!

I don't know what a EFS folder is. I have rooted my phone using this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143479
I used method number two. I just rooted my phone so haven't done anything yet. I think I have rooted my phone, I got a "Superu" app but haven't tried doing anything yet.

EFS file is where your Imei , Mac address and few more important files are stored as you phone doesnt have an IMIE it shows as unknown so that is the reason your unable to make calls or the Sim is not getting registered, What you could try is to Flash a Stock Firmware and check if the IMIE shows up or else will have to take it to Samsung Service Center and will have to Pay for the Service.
The Guide which you've Followed dont say that you will have to backup the EFS Folder i've informed to update it on OP any ways not your mistake .
Always remember 1step after Root is to backup EFS File
Getting to know your EFS folder on Samsung Devices
Common Files We Back up
I am sure you have heard of critical things you need to do when you mess with an Android device right? One of the things that always come up is to back up your devices.
Backing up data usually involves making sure those contacts, calendar entries, memos, messages and special media that you may have kept within the internal memory are kept safe. The general rule when flashing and rooting is that often times, you may have to end up wiping all your internal memory data.
Some people tend to take this further and back up the internal data of apps, which is only possible if you have root access on your device. This is especially useful for those who like to play games as well as flash custom ROMs.
There are those who would also recommend that you back up the entire image of your current ROM state by making a Nandroid backup so that you can get back that exact state of your ROM if you mess up with flashing a whole new one or if you didn’t like the new ROM you tried and wanted to get back.
For Samsung devices, there is one other thing you may want to secure in a back-up chest – your device’s EFS data.
What is an “EFS”?
EFS refer to a folder location called /EFS in Samsung’s Android devices. It is a very sensitive folder hidden within the deepest core of your smartphone’s internal file system and is very essential to the functions of our smartphones.
One of the very sensitive information you can find in this folder is the information regarding your phone’s unique IMEI number. As you may have guessed by now, it also contains other unique identifying numbers for your smartphone including the MAC address for your smartphone’s radios, as well as the MEID, ESN, as wells as the registered phone number for locked smartphones.
The Danger to EFS
Normally, the EFS folder is highly protected. Rooting and flashing ROMs normally do not touch this part of the device. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a controlled environment where everything goes according to plan in the real world. Sometimes, a process hits the EFS folder, or ends up corrupting the data within.
The EFS is also likely to be corrupted by users who like to unlock smartphones since it usually involves editing the data within the EFS folder. Once the data is corrupted, the only way to get it back to working order is to restore the data as is.
The loss of the EFS folder may cause your phone to no longer be recognized by your carrier or some of your radios may no longer work. This breaks the device as a whole no matter how many times you reinstall a ROM.
Even if you are not planning to modify the EFS folder itself, you can still accidentally corrupt that data. That is why even if the process of rooting and flashing ROMs does not require you to do so, it would be prudent to back up the folder. This would be a classic case of being “better safe than sorry”.
Why Modify the EFS
Messing with the EFS is what you would call some “high level stuff”. People normally don’t mess with this folder due to the high risk of making the smartphone unusable. The most common use of editing the EFS folder is to unlock the smartphone so it can be used on other carriers.
Most users usually steer clear of this folder. If you really want to mess with it, look for us tomorrow as we show you how to back-up your EFS folder.

1st flash a stock rom and see whether u get imei and baseband back or not.. if it didnt get recovered then service centers can only help you as u didnt make a backup of efs..
There is a slim chance its not his efs,
I did pretty much the same as he to get root thru the toolkit, and had no network, I found I had no APN configured
Perhaps check this.
Settings... more settings .. mobile networks... acess point names.
Make sure you have something here.
if not you will need to search for the settings for whoever your provider is.
good luck

Moving items from internal to external sd card

Just looking for a definative answer. One I didn't know about the HTC one m8. I'm in the process of rooting the phone be doing it later when I get home. But I downloaded viper Rom anyway to have it on the Phone to save flashing time. It downloaded onto internal memory as normal. But I cannot move it to my external ad card. Using es file explorer. After a little searching from what I can grasp is I have to do it through pc. Is it true
I also found out that I can easily do it after rooting. But if I root I loose the file. Yes I know I can save it to pc and transfer later but I find it strange I cannot moves files like normal on any other phone and this is me coming from the galaxy s4

Why do you lose the file after rooting? All files stay intact after rooting on my device. It's unlocking the bootloader that wipes everything.

Well I still have to unlock bootlader yet forgot to mention that

Need to manually wipe phone, ALL files and partitions, copy files from clean phone mo

Hi,
I need to make an exact copy of a clean Nexus 5x motherboard's (mobo) memory. My phone was infected and I have not been able to get it clean. I know that there are many other file areas besides those copied in TWRP. I have used adb pull and push to copy /dev/block (All mmcblk0XX into mmcblk0XX.imgh files) from the clean phone mobo, and pushed them to the old infected one (mmcblk0 is supposed to be the wholeflash). It copied but it doesn't appear anything has changed. There was a bootup password on the old phone (mobo) but copying those files did not remove it. I then flashed all partitions in the google firmware download and it booted up like a clean new phone, but later went back to the password at bootup. I have had something like this happen a few times. I flash new firmware and somehow the old infected files are still there.
How can I REALLY wipe this phone (manually EVERY file from root / ) and copy over all the clean data from the new phone motherboard? I suspect that the infecter changed my bootloader and is making it persistent somehow. I have used TWRP and copied over the partitions many times. Not good enough.
Thank you.
The bootloader version is still an old one even though I have updated the firmware many times. it is BHZ10i and current one is BHZ11e!
I'M here just because of random, but maybe this unbrick method could help to fully reflash the phone?

Use this tutorial to fix your phone.

TWRP Asking Password...

Earlier in OnePlus 3 days...
I have set up fingerprints to unlock my device with pattern lock.
Then ...
I had deleted ... The below mentioned files from data/system...
1. locksettings.db
2. locksettings.db-shm
3. locksettings.db-wal
4. gatekeeper.password.key
5. gatekeeper.pattern.key
Because i dont want any security on my phone but i want my fingerprints to unlock my device very quickly and after removed the above mentioned files, i did that no more secure lockscreen and fingerprints working fine.
Now... In 'OnePlus 5T'...
I have set-ups my fingerprints to unlock my device with pattern lock.
Then ...
I had deleted ... The below mentioned files from data/system...
1. locksettings.db
2. locksettings.db-shm
3. locksettings.db-wal
4. gatekeeper.password.key
5. gatekeeper.pattern.key
As i don't want any security in my phone because my family need my Phone sometimes so i want swipe up to unlock my phone and fingerprints to unlock my device very quickly but as in OnePlus 3 it was working very fine but in 'OnePlus 5T' it is not working... When i reboot my phone it is showing blank screen, no home screen only wallpaper is showing.
When i get back into TWRP recovery (Blu_Spark) it is asking me a password to unlock modification and i have deleted the lockscreen security files already though.
Any solution?
I know many of you will saying decrypt your phone.
So, i have already format data and wipe internal storage.
Still when i followed the above steps, it still ask me a password in TWRP recovery.
How to solve that issue?
Note: Please Do Not Suggest to me to entered family's member fingerprints or tell them the password or pattern as i simply mentioned above what i want.
The default password in TWRP is "default_password" (without quotation marks). You could try that...

Thank you for the reply.
I have not tried that password but i will soon... any idea about the above first issue? Home screen is not showing anything, only showing Wallpaper of the phone?
Can someone let me know how to find the password ?
The default one (default_password) seems to not be working
Using bluespark TWRP by the way and stock Oxygen OS with fingerprint password
Not sure if the data partition is encrypted, but it sure does look like it as in TWRP file manager I can not browse in folders in sdcard properly since they folder names are hashed
Edit:
Nevermind
Removed the fingerprint and data is no longer encrypted
This is a weird one and I would still like to know how to bypass it by not always removing the fingerprint if possible
So if someone knows, feel free to reply back

Well, this issue only appear when you have encrypted device...
So, to get ride of this situation again... Just format data with yes command and always flash no-vrrity zip to stay decrypt now you can delete these 5 files and stay decrypted and you can use your phone without any issues.

That will wipe my entire internal drive as well right? I don't mind using my phone encrypted, but I'd just want to get past the encryption now so that I can access and backup my files before flashing or formatting.

Yes! you are right, formatting data can format your entire storage including internal storage but that will be happens only once..... Install TWRP recovery by codeworkx universal and format data, that will be erase the entire storage for sure but once you done with that... copy and paste Oxygen OS ROM file along with No-verity.zip file...
first flash ROM then flash No-verity.zip so you can stay decrypted ever.
Flashing no-verity.zip all the time in every rom at last is the best practice to stay decrypted.

You have to erase the entire storage that is the only solution... trust me i have faces this issue several times when my phone as not decrypted and i lost my entire storage almost 10 times
If you have a fingerprint set, OR a pin or password, your TWRP pass is ALWAYS the same as your phone pin or pass Just tried it on mine.

Unfortunately no. I had to format in the end and lose 9 months of photos, data, etc :crying:.
Now I know not to mess with the lockscreen keys because the newer android versions (i think 6.0 and over) has a security patch to prevent access to phone even if you delete the keys. From now on, if your touchscreen doesn't work then your best bet is to boot into TWRP, plug in a mouse via OTG cable and try to flash a new rom, which should preserve your internal drive data.

Dammit I was afraid of that
I tried doing a factory reset (leaving internal storage) but now the phone gets stuck on the Welcome screen "One sec.."
My internal storage is encrypted so all the folders are hashed and I can't even recover any backups I had in the phone. ADB doesn't want to detect the device while it's in TWRP so I can't sideload adb. My only hope is to buy an OTG adapter today, put my latest twrp backup on a flashdrive, and hope I can recover that way.
Nope. The OTG adapter works but TWRP can recovery everything except data.. gives an error "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255" when I try. Sighhh

You deleted the lockscreen keys from the OP right? If so, I don't think an OTG adapter would help. Because once you deleted the password then it will default to TWRP's password but it doesn't exist? However, if you never deleted the keys and can access TWRP's screen to enter your password then you should be able to decrypt and extract your backup. I had a pattern password and you can use the mouse connected to OTG cable to draw your pattern to unlock.
I'm actually having the same touchscreen issue on my device again... but the screen would randomly work. So I am waiting for it to start working before I reflash.

So, TWRP asking password because our Device is encrypted but when i erase the internal storage and decrypt the device then problem got solved because encryption is a culprit here.

Help! Where SD card encryption keys are stored?

So, my SD card died, I want to try to read it from PC, but I need encryption key for this.
Guides on internet says that this key is stored in /data/misc/vold directory, but, in TWRP File browser I don't see any files here at all.
Any help? Or when I tapped (forgot storage) keys was deleted?
My phone has unlocked boot loader but it is not rooted and it uses official firmware Android 8.1
Anyhow, by try and error I figured out that I lost my encryption key so my data is lost forever.
So lets this will be a lesson for others. Do not take action before thinking.
