Password Lock! Can't unlock =( - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

A friend of mine was trying to be funny and put a password on my Tmobile Touch Pro2. The problem is, he states he doesn't remember what he put in there.
I called T-Mobile and they want to send me a warranty replacement. But I don't want a refurbished phone when I just bought this a month ago!
Please, is there any way around the default security lock?

First I would Kill him...lol but the only way I know is to Hard Reset. Someone else may know of a way but I dont...sorry...Tj

I assume that is "a former friend" now?

Friend, relative, acquaintance, doesn't matter. You screw something up, break it, render it inoperable, you make it right. Period. So he either unlocks it, or he buys you a new one.

There are ways of disabling the lock feature, but without knowing you presonally I have no idea as to whether you may have stolen the device or not (no offence intended at all) and wish to gain access to someones personal info.
Hard Reset will remove the lock but you will lose all data on the device.
Hold the two call buttons in and press the reset button with the stylus (keep the call buttons held in until you see the message "this will delete "etc etc) follow the on-screen prompts to restore the device to factory settings.
Cheers,
Beasty

Probably not what you want to hear, but I think that the 'Reset Password' option from the menu will also wipe the device.

Simply Hard Reset It. Everything you have in your phone will be wipe out. Also if you had encripted your SD Card, also everything will be unreadable...

If you haven't synched since the happy moment your docs and PIM data will be on your PC if you back up to Windows & use outlook.

Hey Beasty,
Do you know someone I can speak to who can authenticate that I own my phone and give me the back door for the stupid password reset without wiping my data?
I screwed up the password somehow and can't get it unlocked. I don't have the phone backed up yet and it has three years worth of contacts and pics from a family weekend I was just started to take off the phone.
Talked to Telus, HTC(they directed me here, although not officially)
Any help would be appreciated.

Lost ALL my contacts!? Second time, different phone...

2 totally separate phones (dash's) one with Rogers and one with stock Tmo WM6. Hard restart all contacts disappear! Since in their infinite wisdom you cant disable the sim contacts from showing, I rely on them STAYING in the phone memory! Anyone else with this issue? It has happened only twice in maybe 4 months, but is very frustrating!
Thanks for any advice!
A hard reset will restore the phone to factory default (no contact list). It's supposed to do that. Keep your contacts synchronized via outlook and activesync.
Sorry, I was lying when I typed hard reset. I yanked the battery so it wasnt exactly a soft reset but I did not do the clear storage either I guess next time it locks up I will be more patient!

You should be syncing your phone with your contact list on your PC or exchange server if you are lucky enough to have one. This is one of the most basic things you can do on a smartphone. What if you lost your phone???
I do sync. But I dont take my computer with me either. So today, all day, I was without contacts. Now they are back caused I sync'd.
I guess we should be telling people that want louder call volume to get a hearing aid and people that want to run another ROM to buy the right phone
backup
I use Sprite Backup for said problem and its golden. Simply make backups of your data on the go and when things happen like say an impossible to stop boot loop or a data error, you can still restore everything.
I guess I am just the kind of person that would rather look at the root of the problem, not the band-aid repair after it happens again. I will look into the backup, but I will probably just carry my spare deactivated sim card so I can transfer stuff back if it fails me again.
So does anyone know a way to KEEP the contacts on the sim, yet hide them from view on the contacts list? It surpirses me that something my 8 year old Nokia does WM6 wont let you do . I have never accidentally lost my sim contacts- but the duplicate thing is annoying
The rogers rom for the htc s621 (dash) allows you to hide sim contacts without a registry edit. goto settings then phone... you'll find it there.
also there is a reg edit for said issue for roms that don't offer this option. I have not personally found a smartphone rom without this option but the regedit is: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
Now you can keep your contacts on your activated SIM.
THANK YOU!!! I had not realized Rogers did this!
Found the check box under Settings/Phone/Call Options

How to auto hard reset if stolen?

Is there a way to auto hard reset the device if for example the pin is entered incorrectly 5 times? Or any other way to hard reset the device if stolen?
Thanks
Rakam
is it your pda.... search the forum and maybe you get lucky
if it's not your pda i can only say one thing:
DON'T STEEL OTHER PEOPLES STUFF!!!
There are several program's which are intended to protect your mobile when they are stolen. Not sure if there's a function like the one you mention. But there are programs which are able to send a sms with the gps location unnoticed. Use google to find it.
kuilbop: If you read again my question, I believe you'll understand the PDA is mine... Regarding the search I had already done so, but with no luck...
Bart1981: Thanks for the reply! I think that If a PDA is stolen or lost there is too many information on it - like all contacts, mails, schedules, home location (GPS), personal photos and videos, personal and professional files, etc
I really think that the hard reset feature if the pin is entered incorrectly too many times should be a default on all devices.
So, anyone can help?
Rakam
Bearing in mind, how ****ed off would you be if you got drunk one night and forgot your PIN?
You would lose everything, just for the sake of a few drinks? :S
A program like which you are requesting would just be pointless
Not exactly what you want, but check Sprite Terminator. It does a remote wipe etc.
Hi
Have just had an Email from HTC about HTC mail.
This appears (at first glance) to have what you need
Thanks Dave

Completely locked out of my phone, can't afford to hard reset.

A couple of days ago, I plugged my N4 in to charge. I then turned the screen on and tried to scan my fingerprint, but I got an error saying that the fingerprint scanner has to close because it isn't responding.
It then went to my backup password screen. I tried every password (including the correct one I have written down), and none worked. After 5 attempts, it says that it failed to "recognize my fingerprint". Apparently, it thinks a password attempt is a fingerprint scan.
Anyway, I rebooted numerous times, soft reset, cleared cache with recovery, tried google device manager, Samsung's find my mobile, and ADB. My USB debugging must be off, because I can't seem to connect with the phone through ADB. My "remote controls" are apparently turned off, so Samsung's solution doesn't allow me to unlock it.
I'm not stuck at the lockscreen and I have information that I need to get off. Mostly conversations with my clients through text/whatsapp. I couldn't care less about anything else.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Tricks, or maybe a fastboot method? I just need to get back in, desperately.
IDK about whatsapp but at&t has a service that backs up your texts. If you haven't set that or any other text back up service up, I'd try contacting at&t and see if they will set it up for you remotely, though it might be a long shot.
As far as whatsapp goes, I have never used it, but if its connected to your google account from pc or anything else I would see if you can get your whatsapp account to sync with your google account, that way if you have to reset your phone and redownload the app, it will probably resync your previous conversations, unless whatsapp is set up not to do this. Doesn't facebook own whatsapp? maybe you can back whatsapp conversations up to your facebook.
I'd try to back any thing up you need to in a similar way, cross your fingers and hard reset.
Otherwise, if you take the phone to an at&t store, they may have a method of backing the phone up without logging in, which is also a long shot. Of course, anything that involves the service provider or manufacture of the phone helping you is going to be a long shot. But they did already make the phone and provide the service, so I guess you can't hate too much.
Next time, definitely make sure everything important is being synced/backed up somewhere to save yourself this type of headache. There's a lot of ways to do it these days.
Good Luck.

Factory reset protection

Hi Everyone,
could somebody help me a bit? I did a factory data reset in the recovery on my OP3. After the restart at the verify of the account, it says that my Google account isn’t the one that was synced the last time, so it doesn't let me through....I have changed the password of the account before I tried to sign in, can this be the problem? What can I do now?
OnePlus3 Factory Reset Protection
I have been reading all over the internet and XDA about the FRP problem, and stupidly, I live in a place far from the world so to speak, and a tourist offered me his phone, we made a deal, he did a factory reset in front of me, it left at the setup screen, and on the plane he went to wherever he was from. So I got home, tried to complete the setup and frozen at the google account verification screen. I don't even know this guys last name or how could I even know that this was the case now with Android? While I fully understand and support the reasons that this is implemented, I certainly didn't expect (and I am certain the previous owner didn't) I am left with a phone that I cannot use. Very frustrated, and makes me want to NEVER buy a phone from a person OR from the internet. Any advice or tips on how to recover it? Sorry if there is already one on here, but I cannot find it. Cheers.
OnePlus3 Factory Reset Protection [SOLVED]
I followed the instructions in this youtube video and SOLVED the problem, thanks to ISSAM GSM for his trick and apk!

Any another suggestion?
I can´t change the keyboard. My level protection it could be higher and I can´t jump google account protection.
Thanks

Grandpa got locked out of phone after factory reset - no google password.

Been a long time since I've posted here!
My grandpa has a Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime. Its his first smart phone, and despite "easy mode" he managed to screw up a bunch of settings. He decided to do a factory reset, however now the phone requires that you "Verify your account" by entering the gmail password associated with his account.
He does not know this password, nor did he set up any secondary verification.
The phone is on my Tmobile account (that I activated). Is there any way to recover the phone or perhaps root it? The people at the Tmo store basically told me its bricked because of this "safety feature".
I see that there are a number of ROM's out there, but I cannot enter the developer option since the phone is stuck in google setup.
Any ideas would be really appreciated, thank you

Brings back memories.
Sorry to say that I've been in your situation trying to fix my boss' daughter's phone haha
I'm sure there is a way to remove that "feature" so that it will never ask you to "confirm" your previous google account, but I do not know the method.
I took it to a repair center, the guy obviously didn't tell me how he did it (all I know is that he hooked it up with a USB cable and did something with the computer)
So there is a way but I researched and got nothing, this is a well hidden secret, maybe.
