UPGRADING HTC HERMES aka. HTC TYTN aka. SPV 3900 etc...

Hello Community!
i got a few questions about upgrading my HTC.
is there any way to install a new rom without the included costum programms?
my rom version at the moment is ; 3.54.166.3/rom date is 07/19/07
i`ve seen a few threads wit selfmade aka. costum cooked roms...
can anyone help me find the right rom upgrade,but without all other programms...just the rom update plz...btw: i dont have any idea how this works...iam a little noob in this thing.
would be very thankful if anyone could explain to me how this works!

if your're afraid of "killing" your phone, then spend some time reading the stickies in the hermes section, and also the wiki. all the information you need to safely upgrade your device is readily available
and wth do you mean by pda games?

Asus A696 Upgrade to 6.1 or 6.5

Hey,
I tried to upgrade my Asus A696 to a new version but no luck (i'm not that good at this kind of stuff), so my question is if there's a way to upgrade it at least to WM 6.1, or 6.5 using a different ROM version or something like that.
I would appreciate if the following answers would be from people who tried this before.
PS: If there are links (here) where i can find steps to upgrade, i would be grateful if you point them out.

It will be soon, I have working version wm6.1 PLK (21109), but it's just my second build. I don't have this device, so I can't do it quickly.

WM6.5 on a non-phone device, that's a big mistake.

It's not a mistake. For example WM6.5 on HP iPAQ hx2000 series runs much faster then WM6.1
I would suggest You to go for WM6.5

that's my opinion, I don't like chome, honeycomb, new big menus, manila and other kind of sh%t.
But if you like it, you can use it. I don't prohibit it

any news about it? I would like to install 6.1 or 6.5 also on my a696

Was amazed to find a ASUS P527 6.5 upgrade on here the other day, being able to upgrade the A696 would be awesome as well .

Thanks for your reply, I downloaded and took a look - but I've never done anything like this before, I don't know where to begin. The fact that anything I make with this would be Polish (?) - I'm out of my league. Maybe I'll see if I can figure out the P527 where they do have a World Wide English version already and see what can be done with that.
The P527 has a bunch of ways to upgrade through USB and microSD even if the main process fails - I have no idea if there is such a method for the A696 though. If a flash fails, that could be it... and that's a little bit daunting for a first timer...

you can make image backup first.
pdocread –v 0x0 0x3600000 nk.nb0
upgrade is simply, by usbloader.
1. Disable usb connections in async
2. plug usb cable to pda
3. reset pda with center dpad button pressed.
4. USB Download mode screen will appear
5. Click "Upload ROM!" in kitchen.

can anybody please create and upload the wwe version? It's just that I don't understand Polish so the PLK is completely useless to me (and I guess others)

I too would like a WWE version of a 6.1 or 6.5 ROM for the Asus 6x6 series devices... I would be willing to do some testing as well. I would also be willing to make a donation to whomever gets a 6.5 ROM working.

Upgrading from WM6.1 to WM6.5. Help Needed

I am using HTC Touch Diamond WM6.1 since last 1 year. I am very much interested in upgrading to WM6.5. But, I am not sure how to do that.
I have been upgrading ROMs from the HTC website, but not able to understand the way its given here in this website.

Current Specifications:
SPL - 1.93.Olinex
ROM Version - BsB 6.5 WWE
ROM Date - 07/15/09
Radio Version - 1.00.25.05
Protocol Version - 52.29.25.12G_1.00.25.05
Just need to know if I have done right.
I am feeling very good after looking at the interface and look of WM 6.5

I've tried using the thread on how to install the HardSPL for the Diamond. So far, i have been unsuccessful. I get the black screen everytime. once i get around this i plan on upgrading to 6.5 as well. Can ya'll help me?

I have downloaded the new windows 6.5 build,after extracting it,theres lots of files.
How do you install this? Usually its a cab file or self installing.
Any help to install this would be much appreciated.

That depends on your phone, but normally you start it in serial mode, put it in the dock and start the update program.
What phone do you have?

Those are resources only for ROM cooking.
You can't install it like cab's or exe's!
You need to cook a ROM for specific device and then update the device.

Enter to your device section and see if any chef has ported a version for your device, then in the Wiki you can learn how to flash the ROM

make a strong coffee and go Blackstone WIKI LINK and start reading

I think it's easier for you when you use an already-cooked ROM.

I am desperately need some help. It's almost six months since I read about flashing custom roms and until now I can't find the courage to do it. For I don't muster enough knowledge (I think) in doing it.
I have an HTC Universal running in wm5. I want to flash it into wm 6.5. Is there some body who can forward me the suitable ROM and help me in the process of upgrading it? I really want to flash it to WM 6.5 so I can install cool looking GUI of e book reader in my device and some more eye candy stuffs.

I can tell you that the only way you´ll get to flash is to read a lot, we all started same as you, first of all loose the fear, if you follow the instructions all will be fine.

Regarding the upgrading/flashing of my device. What are the things that one could get if he/she flashed her device? In other words why would someone wants to upgrade his/her device?
What I mean by this question is, is there any reason why would a dopod 900 user like me would want to upgrade from windows mobile 5 to windows mobile 6.1? What are the things that I can do if I will upgrade?
Yes I think there would be some nice applications that can only be installed in Windows Mobile 6.1 or Windows Mobile 6.5 however, if I just install a program that would do a make over of my GUI, SPB mobile shell for instance, everything will be like the same even if it has different Versions of Windows Mobile for I am using the same alternative shell for my device as a GUI.
Any insights? or word of wisdom that could enlightened me? Thank you so much!
