2 questions
1: when texting do you have to hit "send" via the touchscreen, or can you map one of the hardkeys?
2: after hitting "send" the cursor vanishes from the text box. I am constantly typing my next message, only to discover(repeatedly....) that it isnt recording the keystrokes because the cursor has gone the way of the dodo. You are forced to keep tapping the screen to reset the cursor. ANY info (even a workaround) would be appreciated.

Anyone know how to keep the onscreen/soft keyboard available on the today screen? When you go into outlook, for example, the icon appears between the two soft keys, but on the today screen it does not. The one advantage of having it there would be the ability to start dialing a contact from the today screen so simply typing would open the phone application and begin sorting through contacts. It saves the step of hitting the phone button or sliding the keyboard open to do the same thing. Thanks for the help.
You can map one of the outside buttons to toggle keyboard, it'll pop up on Today.
When I try to respond to a received SMS, sometimes I don't get a cursor to be able to start typing. I have to close the messaging tab and reopen it and then usually the cursor appears. Does anyone else have this issue.
if your using sense, then yes i have the same problem. maybe. if your keyboard is already out when you open the message it wont have a curser. all you have to do is tap the white box where yo type and it SHOULD be fine
It's more serious than that for me.
Sometimes the area where you are supposed to type is shrunk down to about half it's normal height, the messaging app doesn't scroll down to the most recent message in the thread, and there is no cursor to start typing. I'm using the stock at&t rom minus the bloat. I love this phone except this one quirk. I mostly use my phone for texting and every other time I receive a text it seems like I have to close out and reopen it. Very annoying problem.

Not to throw my 2c in but I just realized something on my Tilt2 when a msg txt comes in for me to reply to I dont get a cursor in the box either, but you can start typing without tapping the box or waiting for the cursor.
Recently been playing around with the MAX MANILLA rom just installed a few days ago. Tried playing around with my registry learning to fix some problems.
Usually I txt through TOUCH FLO 3D and the problem is. If i was to send a txt message, it won't show up on the screen, I would have to refresh my screen to another section and come back to see my txt message.
Any tweaking suggestions?

Is there a way to hide the on-screen board when using a Bluetooth keyboard?
I'm interested in this also..
It does not work for every app, but you can do the same as you do on you phone or tablet, hold down on the text area for a second and the little spacer will popup, then stop holding on the text area and you can enter text without the keyboard popping up. When I say hold down on the text area I mean to press the left button on your mouse in the text area. Again, It does not work on every app, but it does on most. I probably type 90%-95% of the time on the Fire TV without the keyboard ever popping up by using this method. Btw, when you use this method you have to hit the onscreen button after typing instead of just hitting enter on the keybard or the keyboard will popup. Example, on my browser I can type in the search bar and hit enter and it searches, but in other apps the keyboard will popup if I hit enter after typing so I just got used to clicking the onscreen buttons after typing so the keyboard wouldn't popup.

why does keyboard appear in case bluetooth keyboard already is connected?
I guess this should not happen when using bluetooth keyboard.
is it because of apps or fire tv itself?
should I ask amazon to fix this?
Null Keyboard - can install but not activate
For those of us with bluetooth keyboards, this Amazon "popup keyboard" snafu is a real nuisance.
On an generic Android TV box, I can install the NULL Keyboard app, go into Settings > Input and change the default to NULL Keyboard. This leaves a small icon at the bottom right of the screen to switch back to a popup keyboard, if necessary.
Amazon prevents users from getting into Settings > input
This is a disservice to the very large number of Fire TV users who use keyboards.

Usually happens when I erase something in a browser url/ search bar. The predictive text bar disappears from the keyboard and continuous input (swipe) stops working, forcing me to input letter by letter

The keyboard is not frozen, the website is not frozen. What is going on? Happens randomly like 5% of the time. After a few retires it start working again
