Hi,
I wonder if anybody knows of a good application/tool that allows you to search all your SMS messages for certain text/content? I have tried using the search tool on these forums but looking for the word 'search' is not very helpful.
Thanks
Mark
there is no need for a tool, when you are in your sms inbox just bring up the keyboard and type what you are looking for this feature has been around for a while in winmo. give it try i think that is what you are looking for.
Thanks for that, exactly what I needed. I had no idea that feature existed

Hi guys,
I had an app on my blackstone some time ago that made an incoming sms messages popup at the bottom of the screen in a small window without me having to start the message app. I did a hard reset my phone today and are desperate to get this app back. I have searched this forum but I can't find the app anymore. Could someone please help me.
Thanks!
start->settings->sound & notifications->notifications->Event (select Messaging: New text message)->tick "Display message on screen"->click OK
Thanks a lot! Thats exactly what I was looking for.

no problem! i won't deduct any points for NOT knowing some pretty basic stuff (like displaying SMS on screen).!!! just kidding!! have a great day/evening!
don't know if it's ROM related or not, but when I was using Diamond, I could reply or delete sms that popped out. But now, I can only hide them. What's up with this?
I am coming back to Dash after a while with Palm and PocketPC, so excuse my ignorance.
I tried to search the answer to my question, but I guess it is too general.
Is there a way to search for e-mails? I mean input text and let the PDA search for different fields. I know that PPC has a Search in the main menu and my old Treo 680 has even hardware button.
Any idea how you can search through e-mails and/or other items such as tasks, calendar, or others. Any idea?

depending on the rom you have on your device, you just start typing while in your inbox.
for example: if i was searching for an email about your mom, while in the inbox, i would type "koli..."
I am using ookba's 3EVO ROM and I just tried it and it works. But it does not work in the tasks or calendar. Is there such a tool, which would allow me search through tasks and calendar? Also, the e-mail search searches only through name, subject and address. I wondered if I could search through body of the message.
Thanks
SmartphoneFind will do that, but not free and it is slow at searching as it seems to be searching everything or searching algorithm is slow i dont know. u can try it for 30 days, from here:

I dont use email on my Phone, but if you go into the START MENU then TOOLS and then click SMS Tools Pack ... that has a search feature...I dont know if that works for the e-mails though. It is worth a shot...
This can also be access from the SMS/MMS inbox by clicking the MENU SoftKey and go down to (#8 ?) SMS Pack.
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice (I like when people spend their two cents ). I checked it but it works only for the SMS. But it appears to works with keywords through the body which is nice to know.
Anyway, if somebody has another two cents I am all poor in this department.
I had asked this back in December in the general section, but I think this is where I should be asking this question. I was wondering if there is a way to edit all of the contact information similar to what is seen in the Gmail web interface? I have looked around, but haven't found anything. I know what comes standard, but is there an app that will plug into the Gmail interface directly so we can customize the labels of the numbers and address, or modify prefix/suffix information? If there isn't, would this be feasible to program, or is there no way to access the Google contacts in that way? I search the forums, but I didn't see much about contact editing.
Thank you, and have a great day!
Like the title asks, does anyone know how to get the stock Gmail App to show messages in the single message view style?
I searched and found how to do this for the Gmail web login (which i never use), but the change in settings unfortunately doesn't transfer through....I tried another client that offered this but didn't like the app as a whole.
I don't think it's possible yet. I know many, many people have requested this feature, so hopefully Google will listen and implement this in a future release.
Thanks for the reply, I really hope they implement this feature. I don't understand why Google wouldn't enable this as its available through the web client...coming from a BB I am very used to the single view style for inbox/sent messages. I am always lost when it comes to locating and forwarding messages especially with the "show quoted text".
Well its Christmas soon, I know what I'll be wishing for.
Hi Friends,
I've been try to search for a basic, simple app that allows me to look at my SMSes in a folder view (inbox, sent, draft etc). I found one such app on Play Store, "SMS Classic View" but this isn't available for my phone. I know about so many apps that provide a lot of fancier functionality but all I want is just a folder view, nothing else (or I would say, anything else would be a bonus). Any ideas ?
I use an Xperia SL (ICS).
thanks,
Kunal
use Go SMS Pro
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.gosms
Thanks for mentioning that. I know about Go SMS Pro. But I really do not need all that jazz that comes along with it.
As I said, I just need a very basic representation of my messages in folders. Call me old-school but I guess I just like my box to be neat.
"SMS Classic View" looks like the app for it but doesn't work for me.
thanks,
Kunal
