Sorry if this is a repost. I'm just wondering since I do not have the time and current talent if someone knows of an app or could make a sports app.
Basic function to give up to date info for various sports (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAA etc). Also if you could make it look nice, maybe the start up page (front page) could have a list of sports and could possibly break it down to specific team stats and score and players an so on.
Thanks in advance!

Hopefully this is the right forum, and hopefully im not breaking any rules by posting this here!
Im looking for artist(s) for a game I am working on in Silverlight. It is a cross platform Windows Phone 7 and PC rts style game. Kinda crossed between Civilisation and C&C i guess. It is post-apocolyptic isometrical style, a bit like fallout i guess (BUT NOTHING LIKE FALLOUT LAWYERS! ;D).
I am in desperate need for artists as my art skills are really poor. I am coding the game and have a couple of people working on tech trees/balancing etc. The game is still in a resonably early state, although it is playable multiplayer already via web.
Id love to show you what I have, however I have not added the security layer yet so its currently still running on my local apache server
At the moment I have not begun the WP7 version, but i have tested what i have and it works, however it is not built for the aspect ratio yet, so until graphics are organised that part won't happen.
If anyone is interested, please let me know via this thread or PM.
Thanks for reading
Id like to help you out with graphics, what kind of scale would you be wanting for your game? detailed graphics skinning? more details the better and what kind of dedication to time.
Rosco
Hi Rosco.
Thanks for your reply!
We are not looking for a great deal of time dedication, although i guess it depends how quickly you can draw etc We also have day jobs so progress is not super fast, although it is moving each day.
The game is all 2D and the art can really be split into 3 sections:
1) UI. Menu graphics, login boxes, buttons etc
2) Building and Units. These are very simply animated (only a few frames) and in isometric view
3) Terrain graphics. These are really textures with dusty tracks, broken roads, sandy deserts etc
We have just recruited another artist and have not really assigned tasks or decided the art direction yet. While I am still coding the game, we are also working on our documentation so we can have a clearer idea of the art direction.
Id like to see some things you have done in the past if possible and id be happy to chat to you over msn or somewhere so you can get a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve and what our goals are.
I would be interested in helping you with graphics. Just let me know if you still need me.
Thanks for the reply, ive sent you a PM
Ok, i guess i'll put one selfish bump in here as we are still looking for artists I had a couple of replies, but no replies to PMs. So let me know if anyone is interested. The project has continued to move forward code wise, but the graphics are still sucky
i would like to help creating the menu graphics.
Hi HD2Owner, i dropped you a PM, thanks!
I have an app that I've finished up and I'd like to put it up on windows mobile app store, but I need an icon etc. Now I can write code, but my artwork isn't so good, so any suggestions as to where I could go to find someone who can do those for me? Are sites like FreeLancer and Guru any good for this?
Thanks
What is the app do?
More info needed before making an icon ya know..
I call it WebPeekaBoo (wife suggested just calling it Peekaboo), and its just webcam/image viewer for things like TrafficCams, SurfCams, SecurityCams, etc. You can create/build/edit you own images lists. I wrote as its seems most of the apps like this were focused on one type of cam/image and I wanted to watch a number of different types (ie traffic cams so I could see which route to take, tropical beach cam for motivation, other cams so I knew what the weather or lineups etc is like somewhere, etc).
I've attached some screen shots so you can see what the app looks like.
Apparently I need a couple different sizes of the icon for the app store.
Thanks
Blake
So, Ive made the app for 1800PocketPC & thought I would make a thread about its development,
mostly because I need a bit of help from those with greater knowledge than me
Saijo (the owner of the site) has already made a thread about it over here CLICKY.
There is also a page on my website about it here: CLICKY
Features:
Displays the latest article from your chosen feed on the homepage.
Shows feeds from these different areas:
- News
- App Reviews
- Game Reviews
- General games news
- Free games news
- Xbox Live games news
Displays articles in a mobile friendly way.
Gives you the opportunity to contact the site or the developer (me).
Due to the youtube plugin not working in 3rd party apps, links to the
mobile youtube page are dynamically added to the menu.
The same applies to marketplace links, which would not open strait
from 3rd party apps, links are dynamically added to the menu instead.
You can view & add comments posted on any article.
There is landscape support throughout all but 1 part of the app.
You can also get achievements!
You can download the current version here:
Or you can like it on Facebook here CLICKY
Im currently working on the next major build, which will add:
Twitter & Facebook integration.
Overall UI improvements.
A better mobile reading experience.
Full portrait/landscape support.
Location based advertising off by default.
Now, what I need is help with at the moment is facebook & twitter.
I found a brilliant tut here & I transplanted some of the code from there, so It can now share articles to facebook.
My problems are these:
I don't know how to post to twitter.
I don't know how to get & display all posts from someone's facebook wall (namely the bestwp7games & 1800pocketpc pages)
I don't know how to get & display all posts from someone's twitter account :/
So yeah, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Google hath fail'd me
Being as polite as possible, you need to search. If you ask questions like "how do I ..." you're not really progressing as a developer, as the two services you mentioned have amazingly detailed and well-defined APIs.
I will point you to the kind of Google queries I use to find these answers, that way you can keep developing without wasting time waiting for other people to answer:
Twitter: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=update+twitter+status+c#
FB Wall Posts: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...ebook+wall+posts+c#&pbx=1&fp=b0dc1443d535784d
Recent Tweets: http://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&fp=b0dc1443d535784d
Thanks. You're right, I probably should have searched more.
I was a bit afraid Id find something & try working with it only to find it didnt work with WindowsPhone :/
Hi all, I'm a Singaporean developer and I'm here to tell you that I'm sick of idiots posting/bragging their daily life on Facebook, I mean, if you want to do that, why not do it so that I can ACTUALLY use that information next time? Thankfully, I'm a developer and I can actually do something about it.
WHAT IF, those stupid FOOD pictures taken at the restaurant actually POP UP the next time I am hungry and near that area? WHAT IF those slutty clubbing pictures could actually help me pick a club when I want to go? So here's my solution.
Spawt is a location-based experience bookmarking service so now you could actually point those idiots to the app and actually end up building a beautiful scrapbook of experiences that you and your friends can mutually share and discover.
Features
- Bookmark a great experience by creating a Checkpoint.
- Contextually discover interesting experiences from fellow Spawtters based on your current location.
* Spawt believes that your friends' experiences matter more, so your Facebook friends' Checkpoints will be treated as first class citizens.
- Builds a catalog of Checkpoints that will serve as a scrapbook of experiences for when you need an inspiration on what to do next.
- No need to create a whole new social network, leverages your existing Facebook network.
* Note, we send NOTHING back to Facebook, your privacy is MY topmost concern. (I should know, I'm a Facebook cynic.)
Download the app and tell me what you make of it, and most importantly how I can go on making it better for you and your friends. Search for "Spawt Beta" or get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jdHJsZWZmIl0.
PS: Oh did I mention Galaxy S2 kicks ass?
PSS: Oh also, if the app does crash, and it will, please click Report so I can fix it so you can swear a little bit less when the next update comes.
This is a seriously fantastic idea. One think that may be a good idea to add would be to be able to use pictures from your gallery, rather than your camera, when making a new checkpoint. I'm really loving the GUI, thank you !

thanks for trying out the app! definitely a feature in the backlog.
I use and hate the Yahoo sports app.
At first glance it's great & easy to use.
But the news section sucks.
Every bit of news is just a one paragraph click-bait to click open an external site and 75% of the time the external links are super slow to load or don't load anything at all.
I tried the ESPN app and didn't like it much either.
Wanna keep up to date on NBA, NFL, NCAA and MMA action.
The Score. Easily destroys Yahoo's app and everything about ESPN is awful so I'm not surprised the app is bad.
Another vote for the score.
Nothing beats The Score. ESPN app is too unwieldy.
I use theScore as well, been using for past three years or so. Just their new releases have messed up with long character club names, though that's only for football I have noticed. No idea about those sports though, but they were there when I installed the app, so could try it.
Thanks guys. I downloaded theScore and it's almost perfect!
A big issue I'm having is how to follow favorite teams, etc.
The app just presents me with local teams at the top.
Then I have to scroll through hundreds of other teams from various leagues or search by name.
Does anyone know how to make it only show you NFL teams so you can choose NFL. Then only show NBA teams so you can choose NBA, etc. etc.

I do recall that being dumb/non-intuitive. I'm pretty sure there was a way to just search by name. I don't recall and I cannot replicate since you only do that at startup. I remember it took forever to find the Cubs, and I'm wondering to myself, "how does it suggest all these teams to me but not the Cubs?" Note: I live in the suburbs of Chicago, so this is just preposterous. I like the idea of suggesting certain teams for convenience (based on location) but it needs some better algorithms, and should make finding other teams simpler.

One shortcut was that I checked the scores of the teams I wish to follow, then from those individual matchups, I clicked the stars for the teams I wanted. However, you can also go into Settings, Alerts to set up your teams.
CBS Sports Fantasy is pretty good.
I use Bleacher Report Team Stream. Love it

I don't use any specific app. Just ask the Google assistant..
This Pixel is the first voice response engine that gets my voice requests right 99.9% of the time. No more "what's the latest Bronco's score" being translated as "what's the latest bongos door" or some such other nonsense.
If you haven't tried it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It works for all sorts of requests, not just sports scores.
I just use Google assistant now. It's learned my teams and the phone shows the appropriate sport symbol in the top left when a game is on.(hockey sticks etc) I get very reliable updates, recaps, highlights, upcoming games,

The assistant is really useful, but lacks a lot of information IMO. Whatever feels comfortable to you. I prefer The Score.

"The Athleti" for Android
I have to saw I absolutely love this app and what these guys are doing. Option 1 is to read the same old recycled articles on the major websites for free, or Option 2 is to subscribe to The Athletic and read carefully researched articles that are actually worth your time. I can't say enough good things about The Athletic and I'm fine paying for content if it's new, unique, and interesting. Keep up the great work guys!!
