Ok, another try.
I have a Java game with file-typ .jar. I copied to my storage card and expected to install it in the same way like a .cab-file.
This doesnt work.
So my question now is: how can i install .jar-Games?
After first sight i saw nothing interesting related to my topic. Jar gave me no search results and java is too general.
you need to have java installed on your phone first. try looking up "jbed"

I have tried to find some things on how to, tutorials and so on but i cant find anything that has given me success, some of my must have apps are installed from the computer, and id want to see if i can just make them into a cab instead and just have them on the memory card for comfort and when flashing on the go from sd it is annoying not being able to have the "must have" app.
any help would be deeply appreciated and i would be most grateful.
if this is done in ten sec to a minute i added one of the desktop installers if some one would be so very kind to help me
http://www.e-sword.net/pocketpc/files/ppc2005setup301.exe
Thank you very much.
ps: another noob question, the program named ppc2005setup301 it runs in vga, and since most rom are qvga if i understand it right the program buttons are shrinked? it is usable but you got to be exakt with the stylys to hit them, kinda hard on the bus or subway if anyone could help me with that one id kiss ya!
Peace and a lot of love to you all!
Can you not just extract the cab using win rar?
Easiest way is to run the installer with your phone disconnected. Then go into the microsoft active sync folder in program files and you should be able to find the cab in a folder in there. I've done this several times to set up a back up folder on my sd card (just in case)
does any one know of any android 2.0 cabs for vogue
There is a port but it has very limited functionality. Also, it does not come in cab. You have to place a bunch of files on the root of your SD card and run a program called haret.exe which will load the root file system as well as the kernel to run the OS.
Go to the general vogue section. You will have all the necessary info there. This section is only for WM upgrades.
every time in try it that way it wont work and i follow the insructions exactly and i did find a cab and it worked i tryed switching out the files but every time i try to run it it says failed to find system.img even though it named right and on the root of my sd
The cab version is probably a year old now. The files that were in that version will no longer work with current roms. There isn't a current all-in-one installer that I've come across that will run current versions of Android.
The new system images come with a .sqsh extension.
As the previous poster mentioned, the Vogue general forum has more Android related information.
Also, in case you guys are interested, dzo just came out with a flashable version of Android for the Vogue. In other words, you will install Android to the NAND rather than the SD card and wipe out WM in the process.

It would be nice if someone were to come up with a cab that installed android
But unfortunately it would be a lot of work and instead you have to run it on an sd card via haret (though its not that much more difficult)
And zen just came out with a new android 2.0 (eclair) build so you should go check that out!

Someone did make a cab. http://www.myhtcphone.com/Android120208.CAB from here http://www.myhtcphone.com/ it is old but it has been done and it does work.
I have been successfully using the Android builds on my TP2 without any issues. However, when I tried Rhobuntu (which is very exciting by the way!), I have had problems since I shut it down to reboot.
When trying to launch any programs that are installed on the SD card, either through a proper cab install or by trying to run Haret off the SD card, I get the following message:

The file 'filename' cannot be opened. Etiher it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.

I am still able to access all the files from Windows Mobile 6.5. I can open data files such as mp3 or jpg.
If I try to install a cab file (from the SD card or the main memory after copying it there), it tells me the file is from an unknown publisher etc, and I can choose to continue. However, it then tells me that the installation was unsuccessful.
Prior to using Rhobuntu, I could install and use applications on the SD card with out any problems.
I have searched the forums and the internet, but I can't find any answers that are applicable - plenty of questions like mine though!
One example is on the first page of the Rhobuntu sticky thread, but it appeared to go unanswered:

Help please!

Ed,
It was I who posted the question in the other thread. Unfortunately, I never got a solution to the problem so I ended up performing a hard reset.
I had the same issue again when I ran Rhobuntu so I've pretty much given up on it.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

make Hard-reset . (you will lost all you data on the phone)
Works after hard-reset
Thanks dicko, walter.
I finally gave up and did a hard reset, and before setting everything up again I tried Rhobuntu again, like dicko had.
This time, I can use Rhobuntu, and go back to Windows, and everything still works. Phew!
Differences between last time and this - I don't know if any of them are relevant:
1/ This time the Windows only has stock Vodafone ROM Win 6.5 plus TomTom as it automatically installed when I put the SD card in. Last time lots of other programs were installed also.
2/ This time I used the latest Rhobuntu release - 19032010 on the fileshare, 18032010 according to the first post that the filed share was linked from. It was xfce. Last time I was using 12032010.
3/ This time I chose Reboot when I was finished with Rhobuntu. Last time I chose Shutdown.
Now to rebuild my Windows system!
So first of all i must say that im a completly noob at the android instalation on kaiser
I search for a noob tutorial but i coudnt fiind can someone post here a tutorial including files thanks
Here is the Guide in Sticky
How to replace Windows Mobile with Android (Guide) by Dukenukemx
scroll down to Installing Applications Onto SD Card using Ext2
This should help. The guide help me greatly, very easy to follow.
Hope this helps.
Its not tricky, I mean even I can do it, come on
I did edit a wiki page on this, but appears to be down, so here goes, from memory.
Backup any data first, just in case, not taking any responsibility for loss of data.
Firstly ensure your SD card if formatting correctly (FAT32), use on Gparted (linux live CD) to do this, (for me, I created two ext 2 partitions as well as I thought this would work best, works for me).
You then need the HaRET application to allow you to run Android. Google "haret.exe"
Extract the files this should create the right directory.
You then need to choose a build, this is personal choice, but I'll post the one I am testing right now. milanche's CyanogenMod 6 Kaiser
Put the installandroid.tar into the folder you created above.
Move to your SD card.
Find and run HeRET.
When screen shows text, tap and hold the center of the screen until you get a menu.
Choose install (ensure the options are set to SD).
Select Install
Once done, select Quit.
This then installs Android and can take a while, just leave it to get on with it.
You should then been booted into Android.
I might have forgotten something, as I am doing this from memory, but it should be fresh since I installed this last night.
Looks good to me, nice guide, don't think you missed anything
Thatnk you Zenity, but I know I couldn't have done this without your help in the begining when I first tried it. I know how it can seem all a bit over whelming.
I know a lot of people say 'search for it' but I did that just to see what I would find, and to be honest, I didn't get anything but that was of any use, so I can sympathis the search doesn't always get you the right results.
I could not remember the direcotry names when I wrote that at work and had to do it in a hurry as the entire office can see my magnified screen so it was a quick brain dump, not as nice as I would have liked to have written it given the time (which I did on the wiki but its down).
Anyway Keeps it fresh in my mind too.
I can only do this when I'm given the right files, I got confused myself when people started talking about different zImages. I tend to go for the builds where everything is bundled into one packing, as some can seem fragmented, ie Fresh Foryo, I don't doubt that it may be a good rom, but its deleivery is complicated (for me ).
Wish I had more time an experience to make my own build, I have done a bit of linix hacking in my time with shell scripts (getting wifi cardds working ona laptop etc), Its all interesting stuff.
thanks guys u helped me alot in the end i will instal android on an ext2 partition
Dear Leona,
The link seems no longer valid, can you tell where to find the latest HaRET application? Besides, how should I format my SD card? by special software? Thanks.
Dave
If you'd have problems with using Gparted Live CD like me... just because it does not mount SD card in adapter... here is what I did to partition the SDHC 4GB card...
I booted with HARET but did not select to install.. it gracefully fails to terminal
command: su
command: fdisk /dev/block/mmcblk0
deleted all current patrition (d)
created new partitions whith calculated size (8192 for 256MB)
changed type of the first and biggest patririon to FAT32 (t => c)
written all the changes to the partition table (w)
Than you should take out the card before rebooting and format FAT32 partition in win to upload all te android boot files, rebot the phone and follow with instalation...
But I must say, now I am using Scooters Cyanogen in NAND and it it far far easier
After I choose run, then a list of Linus commands ran, then it said
:loseup:/dev/block/loops: No such file or directory
Failed
Failed to reach system.img on SD card
By the way, anywhere I can download a complete set of files for running? Thanks.
try this:

look for the 4th post...
or this:

read a lot before attempting to do anything! use the search tool too, could be of some help.
For SD Partitioning, I remembered this Thread, which might help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619290
Sounds like you are not holding the centre Dpad button (or pressing the centre of the screen) while haret is loading, yes this can be Hit and Miss it winds me up no end.
If you have access to a Linux machine (or boot a Live CD), as well as being useful for SD partitioning it also maybe used to try out Atools (you'll need to install python and python-tk (via the package manager)) as this will get you the right Kernels, images and configure your default.txt file for you, though I haven't managed to get the build script bit working yet, but that is down to my lack of understanding the instructions
Hi, so I have a Surface RT, I was able, after a lot of effort to jailbreak it and enter Test Mode so any desktops apps that are meant for arm are working fine.
The problem is that now my Windows Store went bananas, I tried fixing it with some tutorials I found online, but nothing I can't revive it. Only option I would have would mean I recover the full tablet, install all updates only to later have to uninstall half of them and go trough the pain of installing the jailbreak again. Winch seems alot to get a app to work.
So I tried appx files, I tried installing using the powershell command as seen on some tutorial, winch gives me a bunch of errors, most of them are for libraries that are missing winch I do understand some of them just won't work for rt, others because the "app model" is set to 0 where it should be 1, I tried changing it to 1 but another error pops up saying the recourses.pri is missing or faulty or something on those terms. Tried with other apps but all just eventually ended in the same resources.pri error. Or that the os version it was requesting was higher. Since the appx were from nifty online sources I figured they would not be that compatible.
Later I tried Windows Apps Boss, this time i went to the official windows store (using IE) and downloaded the offficial files for the apps that I knew where compatible with ARM and this device. Anyone wondering I used this https://store.rg-adguard.net/ you just need to copy the URL from the windows store and it gives you the files.
First I tried downloading only the appx files and ran them on windows app boss, install, enable sideload, add package, the same recource.pri error appear, I tought maybe I need all the other files that were on the page meant for arm so I tried adding them as dependencies in windows app boss, added libraries to dependencies, and the other file that was a .blockmap I added to provisioned custom data, still nothing but closer, this time it only told the that the appxmanifest.xml was not on the package root whatever that mean, although I went to the windowsapps folder and the folder for the game in question and the file were there, but I noticed it was in the same path but in a different folder, with this I mean that I add 2 separate programs folders with 2 separate windowsapps folders, ok maybe windows apps boss created this one I thought, so I just moved them to the official folder and tried again, still nothing. Can it be because the original windowsapps folder is hidden? (just thought of this)
At this point I just want to flinch this thing at a wall or into a volcano, because every problem I fix just leads to another one, but since I got it for 50 bucks (I knew what I was getting into), and since now use it as my main pc since I don't have anything else or will have in a later future (its not that bad I just use mainly to watch movies, series now that I have the torrents desktop app, its relatively fast and works really well for basic stuff apart from the fact that Microsoft completely ruin the devices potential),I would like to at least be able to install metro apps or in this case games.
Can please someone help me out in figuring this, or guiding me another way to install them since every information in the internet is scattered and not always compatible with this device?
