How is your Tmobile USA 3G coverage? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have had my TP2 for a few weeks. I really like Tmobile' 3G, Where I live it's fairly reliable, I was wondering for others in the U.S. how is the coverage?

DC Checkin' in..
Here in the Nation's Capitol I'm loving the High-speed 3G plus being in the City there various Open Wi-fi Spots.. Sometimes i think there's 3G+ here from the blazing speed i get..

Sorry, I'm in Tampa FL, just south of Orlando my coverage is good.

I do field work all over the northeast, from Delaware to Maine. 3G coverage is spotty between cities, as expected. There are parts of the NJ turnpike where there's no signal at all! In Maine there's hardly any 3G up there. Compared to AT&T's 3G coverage, T-mo's is a step down, though the speeds are very comparable. I have a company supplied Verizon wireless modem that has 3G coverage almost everywhere.

New England is spotty at best...not completely upgraded there..NY is not bad, Chicago is great...

That's good to hear, I can't wait to switch to TM. AT&T has **** coverage just about everywhere for me. At work I'm getting 2 bars at the moment, which is 1 bar higher than I've ever seen before. My boss has an iPhone and he constantly has to walk to a window to make phone calls.

I live in Atlanta, and I must say the coverage is REALLY good. I get great connection speed as well. It's weird, I actually get better reception on my TP2 then I did on my Wing.

ATL GA, Coverage is good!

Decent in Denver
It's not too bad in the Denver area. Sometimes just a couple of bars, but seems to work fine.
Question on "My Location" Service (e.g. google maps). w/o the GPS turned on. For me, it only works if I disable 3G.
Perhaps there's not enough towers to triangulate.

I'm in Phoenix & I get 3G just about everywhere I go except work, but that's because that's 30ft underground at the hockey arena.
When I went to El Paso, Tx they had 3G in only parts of the city. I don't know why Tmobile would just implement it in certain parts. From what I hear the whole West side & most of the NE of the city has no 3G til January-ish.
@david Google Maps will not triangulate while on 3G with Tmobile. Its a known issue if you want to search.

This is pretty normal. GPS doesn't use a ton of battery life, so just leave it enabled in Google Maps.
And I am in Orange County, CA. Coverage here is awesome overall. I have issues at my home, but that is all. I have it solid otherwise with HSPA.

Here in Queens, NY and the 3G is great!!! 2-3 bars at home, mostly 2. But I don't have any problems at all with 2 bars on 3G. At work I get full bars!!!
I'm all good.

I live in Portland and I rarely have more than 1 or 2 bars of 3g. I'm a bit disappointed because my wife has almost full on her G1.

It sounds like TMO has done a fairly good job at rolling out their 3G. I must say they have been modest when it comes to bragging like At&t.

I am out in the west burbs of chicago. I get 1 bar 3g, if it's on 3g at home. Usually goes to 2g. I am in a bit of a weak spot for 3g. I don't use 3g much at home. Everywhere else it is very good. Doesn't cover as much as edge though. Just past aurora and it's gone. (Orchard rd at I-88 seems to be as west as it goes). They updated edge in western Illinois with the 3g rollout. It used to stop at dekalb but now it goes all the way to the quad cities. Sweet!
I was in Tampa when it was rolled out there. Near Brandon/Tampa/Riverview. (kinda near 301 and causeway). I get 1-2 bars edge. Nothing 3g. Very weak spot. They need a tower there!

Seattle Washington area. So far so good.

I'm in Tampa also, and the 3g here always has full bars!!!

T-Mobile 3G coverage map updated again

Within the last week, updated again.
http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/pcc.aspx
Accuracy
Well, I have been very weary of this map. The map now says it covers 3G where I live (Outskirts of Tucson) I don't remember seeing 3G at my house last night. 3G coverage in Tucson seems spotty at best for me and I definitely haven't seen the 7.2 Mbps 3G. But I'll wait and see I guess. Anyone else see 7.2 Mbps in Tucson?
Lol wow can they make a more hard to use confusing map?
Yay for T-Mobile and their confusing map.
But looks like they have plenty of coverage, atleast the service doesn't cut off for hours like A*T..
Yep. Just checked. No 3G at my house. Driving into town, 3G does pop up about 2 miles closer and the signal is stronger.

It's been nice,,,

It's been nice with AT&T (not really!!) So I'm going to try out TMOUS and HTC HD2 phone. Has anyone been unhappy with TMOUS?
I just recently came from them to AT&T and the 3G coverage isnt as good, nor is it as fast of what im experiencing with AT&T, but other than that, no real big issues.
I have a HD2 on TMOUSA and I like it. Crap 3G speeds though. And I get Edge in my basement. I go up a flight of stairs, bam, 5 bars of 3G. If you have a friend with T-mobile 3G, I'd definitely recommend seeing the reception around various areas you frequent. I get NO reception in some of my classroom buildings. See what I'm saying? It largely depends on the coverage.
You should investigate what kind of coverage they have in your area. TMOUS coverage is not great in some markets, although it might be just fine in your market. As around here (tell us where you are), or at work, friends, etc.
Well I've asked a few friends and some ramdom people off the street around here and they are happy with TMOUS. Few have said they thing TMOUS 3G is faster then AT&T and have better coverage. So I'm going for it,, Thanks for your replys!! Oh, I live in Orlando, Florida by the way.

4g or 3g

this 4g business, On Sprint's site it doesn't seem like I'll be getting it anytime soon, and I live in Indianapolis which I thought was a pretty highly populated city...
wanted to see how many users are actually gaining no benefit from 4g and how many use is daily

hehe, nice, that's where I live too ;-)
I live in st. louis, and it seems that we get it more down town in the center of the city, but not in the outer parts of st louis county.
4g in chicago near my home (by midway) i get around 3.5-4.5mb download and downtown i get whats in my sig
anyone have 4g in tampa? I know its supposed to come soon but I can detect a 4g signal in north tampa. It just doesnt connect, keeps saying "obtaining ip address from sprint"...anyone else have any success??
It's pretty strong here in south part of Austin. It's definitely faster than 3G!
Yes, it eats battery power so I always switch over to 4G when I'm plugged in, especially if I'm tethering.
I have an app called Power Manager that can switch things on or off according to your power (battery, AC, USB, low battery, etc.). Right now it will only do wifi and GPS but I'm hoping there will be support for 4G soon. Anyone know of an app that would do something similar? I may give "Locale" a try.
My area isn't listed as a 4g location, but it's "coming in 2010", I heard October tbqh. They do have a map of some locations in the bay area (South Bay) that have 4g... but the other day I turned it on and sure enough there was 4g at my gym! So I have been playing around with 4g a bit more, and it comes really close to my house. Sadly it doesn't reach my house, just a few blocks away.
So when I have it (near work, or at the gym etc) I use it, it is faster and I notice the difference

When will Sarasota/Bradenton Florida area get Sprint 4G?

Just wondering if anyone knows when the Sarasota / Bradenton Florida area can expect to see Sprint 4G coverage. Closiest coverage area is about 30 miles north in a town called Gibsonton, just south of Tampa.
Thanks
im already receiving spotty coverage. they seem to have two towers in sarasota already; one on clark and one on 17th and one by oneco in bradenton. their coverage map is a little optimistic with coverage but from my 3rd floor apartment i can pick it up.
Thanks Bro, my office is just west of the Blue Dolphin car wash on Cortez. I do not have 4G here. But your news is good and I see light at the end of the tunnel.
Thx again....
Wow you guys really dont have 4g over there yet that sucks. Hopefully soon!!!!!
Nope, we don't. Had to drive up to Gibsonton to try it out the 1st time and even then it was spotty. A good job does take time however....
I'm south of you in Ft. Myers, and very very spotty 4G coverage just started popping up here too. I haven't actually been able to do anything on 4G yet, thats how weak it is, but at least it's a start, right?
ah, gotcha, thanks for the update and YES, a good job does take time.....
I live in Bradenton and work in Sarasota off of fruitville and honore near i75 , and can pick up a connection for MAYBE 2 minutes at a time . Near the Sarasota airport however I've picked up a signal for a decent amount of time ... hope it's coming soon, especially since Verizon's LTE kicks in on Thursday in SRQ / Bradenton

Im in Long Island,NY with no 4g..That really sucks....
Sarasota Bradenton is large and there is just a little bit in sarasota and none in Bradenton
I'm in a so called "best" coverage area and still get spotty 4G outdoors and none indoors.
I'm just outside of Tampa.
old post but update news
I am able to get 4g lte downtown b-town but kind of on/off
Cortez and 14th st area 4g lte 3-4 bars
Between university and fruit ville on 75 4g lte 2-3 bars but drops out quickly.
Wish I knew where that tower was...

[Q] Any in the Bay Area, CA with TMO?

So I've been thinking to switching to TMO to save $$$. Was wondering how the coverage is in the Bay Area?

I know their coverage area but I would still like to hear from folks that are on TMO that live in the Bay Area? Is there something funny on wanting to know that?
I live in Mountain View, work in Fremont. Usually in the San Jose area. Had AT&T before, I now like T-mobile's coverage better.
You wouldn't believe how congested AT&T's traffic is in the area until you try someone else. I now know. I even have LTE disabled (only gsm/wcdma auto) and the speed seems to be smoother and faster than AT&T LTE.

i second this
im in mountain view;
3 days ago i moved over 3 lines to tmobile from att.
1 line unlimited, 1 line 2GB and 1 line 500mb.
$100 a month.
have not looked back.
**** you AT&T
**** you.
I'm in SF, just switched from Sprint...TMO's basic 3G coverage is better/faster than Sprint's 4G LTE.
Same price, better coverage, faster speed.
I live in San Jose and work in Fremont. Have friends in Santa Clara, Campbell, Cupertino. 4g speeds is good and get them almost everywhere I go, and get LTE in some of those areas I mentioned besides Fremont. My house however has been degraded to bout 2mbps or less and still no LTE. The only bad thing about Tmobile is that building penetration in some buildings isn't great like inside Target or some lounge like Temple. Overall very happy. I had Sprint for 9 years an dont regret leaving them.
EDIT: I got my s4 today and its picking up LTE where I work (fremont) but my note 2 does not. I think with the s4s better radio you will be happy when you switch.

I live in Sunnyvale and work in San Jose, i get healthy LTE coverage in both areas. I've gotten it in Mountain View, but further up the peninsula and the east bay still doesn't receive LTE. I'm getting as high as 40Mbps down at home. Absolutely no complains since my Sprint was like dial-up in comparison.

dude, SERIOUSLY. Sprint's best-case speeds were still single-digits on LTE (here in SF, anyway). There's definitely a place for dial-up speed but they should at least give you sound effects like you're connecting over phone lines: beep, beep, booooooop, SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!, beep, pop, pop, beeeeeeeeeeeeep.
Just depends where you are at in the bay. Driving along 280 heading south signal will go in and out because of the mountains. If you're near or in SF you're golden. I'm in the Penn and i typically get 4g 90% of the time. With the S4 I get much better reception then with previous phones.
This is what I would do. Port your number to t-mobile. You will have 14 days to return the device and cancel your service. Call t-mobile to confirm this just incase since they have the uncarrier plan now. You will pay for what you've used obviously. This will in turn cancel your sprint service and Sprint will charge you ETF if you're still under contract. But they give you I believe a month or I think more to come back and will give you a full refund on the ETF. You can call them to confirm this too just in case they changed their policy. Once your number is ported (took a few minutes for me) Try to go to as many places even inside buildings and see if reception is good enough for you within those 14 days. If your not happy go back to Sprint and get your ETF back. I can guarantee you though that you won't go back.
