Mapping SecondToday to left softkey? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Has anybody been able to map SecondToday to the left softkey on the home page?
I've tried changing the registry and using Advance Config, but no luck.

try a program called Keyswop it is (free) cab (attched) and you can change softkeys to whatever your heart desires... started slowly (i have a T7381) and would say had a battle with telstra's locked down rom but after the first time and a soft reset changes now quickly

Hi,
You could try AEButton+, an excellent program for mapping and extend hardware key (1 clic, or 2, or 3, or LongPress, or virtual button...), but it's not really free, but quite cheap.
This app works like a charm on my touch pro2.

I tried this and it didn't work on my Tmobile tp2. Has anybody else tried this registry change on their tmobile tp2?

Its definately working for me on my Vodafone TP2. What happens with yours after you submit the entries adn do a soft reset?
Barney

the name (title) of the left softkey changes, but it doesn't do anything when i click on it.

make the changes you want and them soft reset
in my original eu tp2 the changes were applied after a soft reset and i needed to reinstall the application

I cant get it to work either

aebplus doens't seem to work for a lot of the keys. anybody else have this problem? i've only been able to map keys to the volume up and down buttons.

keyboard mapping of 2 keys with dashes "-"

I have a vodafone universal, and using Start-settings-buttons, it was possible to assign functions to the 2 keys on the top line of the keyboard with dashes "-" on them.
I have installed jwrights crossbow ROM and, I would like to assign these buttons.
I have searched and failed to find out about these 2 buttons (ihave found the backlight mod thread, but cant figure out about these 2)
thanks

Using any registry editor (eg. resco), go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys. The key 112 is the left "-" key, and the key 113 is the right "-" key. Open and edit to name and point them to what program you want to assign as follows:
- default: in the string box you type the name of the program you want to assign the key
- Open: in the string box you type the link to the .exe or the .lnk file of the program
i thought 112 and 113 are buttons on th etoday screen, not the hard buttons on the keyboard. the ones next to the red and green phone icons. Are these OC07 and OC08, but i am not sure
Have assigned 113 without problems but 112 (left "-") somehow became assigned to PHONE application. So now if I press green button - phone appears, if I press left "-" again phone appears. Although in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys it shows different program to be opened. Any ideas please?
p.s. after few soft-resets started working in the way it's been assigned in the registry.
Those buttons with dashes are called soft keys. So just search for soft keys and you will find an app that will enable you to assign different applications to the soft keys. Search for HACKS, you will probably find it in the hack thread.
I suggest use of PQz as a great alternative.

Yes you can. First step is to find the soft key CAB or files I mentioned. After installation, go to the windows folder and locate the comm manager icon and create a copy or shortcut of it at the Windows>Start Menu>Programs folder or to any folder you want.
Of course, you don't have to assign this to any soft keys, another way for the Comm Manager to show up is by pressing the Fn key and the Right arrow key simultaneously.
cheers geezer!! top man! so long little green dot, it was the only thing cluttering up my today screen! i am now fully happy with my exec!! just gotta sort out my gprs and skype settings! and then i think it'll do everything i want it to do!
ok, well, iv put the soft key applet onto my phone, then moved it into the windows directory and then soft reseted, but im a bit stuck now? how do i reasign my 2 soft keys?? please help!

Look into Start>Settings>System Tab>Here you will see the app for soft key assignment.
But before that, you need to go to Windows folder and copy the Comm Manager app and create a shortcut icon on Windows>Start Menu>Programs.

Can someone look up a registry entry

I accidentally deleted the registry key in 113. Can some one look on their dash and give me the info
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Home
keys
113
Can you please give me the info that is there. keys and values so i can put back.
I believe there were two things here. One of them said (right menu)
I do not have any entry for 113. There is no "Keys" entry at all.
I do not have that key too.
Name - (Default)
Data Type - String
Data - (value not set)
I was afraid this would happen
Is there a home key in Microsoft? If yes what happens if you select it?
I am running wm6 on a Tmobile dash which might have something to do with it

This sounds like a touch screen phone, not an Excalibur (non-touch screen).

I have this key in a Treo 750, but not in the Dash.
may have found it
I think it had something to do with a program called Right Menu Editor. I reinstalled it and it fixed the problem. I tried the program didn't think I liked it.then I tried to remove it (Good Luck trying to remove this program) Now that I have it back on my Dash and have figured out how to use it I like it. Thanks for the help folks

How to change two menu buttons on bottom of WM6

How do you change what programs are displayed on the bottom of the home page in WM6? Mine seem to cycle through Activesync, calendar & contacts. I want to add Media player.
Thanks,
NK
Try this...I use it and it works good.
The location for editing the today soft keys is: HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys/112 & 113.
I used the KeySwop pgm and it worked great. THANKS.
What registry tool do you use? Where do you learn the "ways of the registry"? How does one learn what edits affect what outcome?
Thanks,
Nick

Changing the softkeys in AT&T Tilt2

I find it redundant, the Phone soft key and the Phone Hard key.
Is there a way to reprogram or map the Phone soft key or the Contacts softkey to run some other programs?
If somebody had used this kind of keymapping program and works for the Tilt2, can you direct me to the link please?

Are you familiar/comfortable with modifying the Registry? Using Total Commander or a dedicated registry editor...?
If so:
Navigate to here:
registry\HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\ -- and find these keys:
"HomeLSKPath" -- Click on this one to enter the path to whatever application you'd like the Left Soft Key to run (e.g., \windows\calendar.exe)
"HomeLSKText" -- Click on this one to enter the text/label that appears for the Left Soft Key (e.g., Calendar)
And you can do the same thing with HomeRSK...
This works on my T-Mo USA TP2...I would expect (but don't know) that it should work for your Tilt2.

[Q] Modifying Buttons

Hi,
I'm using the HTC Sense.
In the "Home" tab there are 2 buttons - "Phone" (left) and "Menu" (right)
Is there a way to modify these buttons?
I've just started using ThumbCal and I want the left one to assign to it.
Thanks.

Settings+
to change the softkeys try Settings+ by Samuel Tee
Thanks for your answers.
fighter7139,
I've read the thread, I didn't manage to get to the "yes, use advanced config - push on menu - more settings - key mapping".
I have Tom Photon ROM.
and I don't understand enough to mess with the reg file..
xda-kungfu,
I've installed the Setting+, and changed the left soft key.
I rebooted twice - but it didn't change.
Are you sure it suppose to work on the HTC sense too?
Thanks again.
I tried also BSB tweaks..
Shaked my HD mini.. But it didn't change..
So why don't you use ACT:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/advancedconfigurationtools.shtml
Thanks!
ACT works great!!

Menu - more settings - key mapping
It's already written.
SORRY, I didn't read it. By the way, I can't assign the right soft key to the camera. Anybody has the same problem?
It's better to set camera on left softkey.
Hi,
I installed ACT and I have no problems with the left softkey but when you assign an application to the right softkey, it appears at the beginning but as you move through the Sense, again seems the Menu right softkey
"It happens to someone else? How do you solve?
Thanks in advance
Try to set it through registry.
HKLM\\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeRSKPath
HKLM\\Software\HTC\Manila\HomeRSKText
Thanks for the reply.
This registry keys says the same I put on ACT but only works at startup Sense. When you move slider "Menu" returns
Disable sense, make a soft reset and enable it again.
There's no way, man.
I did what you say and when I enable Sense again, "Menu" reappeared.
Without Sense it works fine. HTC HD Mini. Version Manila 2.5.20131825.3
Thanks anyway
I don't know something else, but many people say not to mess with right softkey.
Use BSB Tweaks 1.6 to change the left soft key of Sense.
You mentioned it didn't work for you. But do try it again. Sometimes you need to shake a bit more to register a response.
It worked for my HD mini. Worked everytime.
Do try it again.
I found on htcpedia how to change right softkey MENU on HTC HD Mini
The first thing to do is set the Resco Explorer to show hidden files and ROM.
Get the file inside the ZIP that I let you down and copy it to the Windows folder overwriting the existing. Windows warns that it will replace an important file. Just in case I have made a backup before overwriting the original.
You open the Advance Config Tool or SKTools and assign the role you want to replace the SoftKey Menu and Reset.
bye and thanks all for your replies.
