Is there a way to hide a folder? ex: pic folder you know when someone have ya phone the first thing they wanna do is check ya pics.
You can hide it from TF3D and HTC Photo Album by editing the registry; it will still be visible from the Pictures & Videos application.
Go to:
HKLM\software\htc\htcalbum\ignored\
add the path of your folder(s)
what about any programs to hide the pictures or lock them. even hiding certain sms/mms stuff?

Sounds like you got something to hide! lol...well, prob the easiest way would be to just rename the pics and change the file extension to something else. That way, they couldn't see them, and all you have to do is change back the file extension. Just an idea.
Do a search for morescript, install it then search for hidescript. With this you can hide a folder and all sub folders that obviously contain all of your dirty pics from the htc photo album.
It works great for hiding all my super secret under cover spy info.

I've found the best free way to hide files is to compress them.
Pocket rar is better but I managed to find Htc Zip which was on my old blackstone, which I'm more accustomed to.
Just set up a password before adding the files and it gives you the option to delete the original file

Hide my stuff v3.6, simple to use, hides files so definitely not visible unless using the programme.
They wont ever know its there, enter your password and you can view them all
ehm.. why don't you just hide them from pc?? via usb..
it works.
But you cannot open that folder untill you make it visible again ( always on computer ).
Maybe with Total Cmmander you can see the invisible ones..

Does anyone know of a way to hide folders from the picture album?
By entering the path of the folder you wish to hide in this registry
HKLM\software\htc\htcalbum\ignored\
Note this will also hide the folder from being browsed when selecting an image for TF3D wallpaper.

This would be helpful.
I don't know why HTC design the album in that way. Don't they know there are so many pictures of icons, wallpaper, backgroud, windows fame etc. in the software installed folders?
I think in many cases its a toss up. Some devices will only detect images or music in the "music" or "images/pictures" folder or some similar setup. But then you have to be careful to always put them in those. If you want to have a more haphazard organization for whatever reason it's hard to make sure the player/viewer will differentiate between program images and the users scattered images.
It can be done, but it can be troublesome.
I was just wondering if there was a way 2 hide specific folders from being visible in the gallery. I have like 4 folders of pics i want 2 see and like 35 album cover folders -_- i use the app Album Art grabber and i guess thats what makes so many folders for each album but man this is kinda driving me nuts. ANy thoughts? Thx in advance.
Create a file called .nomedia (no other file names or extensions) and put it into the folder that you do not want to show up in Gallery
Edit: I have attached a zip file that has the .nomedia file inside.

I think you can edit the folder names in a file manager and put a . in front of the folder names and this will make them "invissible"
.foldername
maybe someone else can confirm.
awesome i will try these things! thx! =)

That's correct, just add a "." (without the quotes) to a file name and the folder is considered hidden.
sometimes you don't want the folder hidden completely, for example e-mail attachments to my touchdown app since the app still needs to reference them. The .nomedia did the trick now my gallery does not populate with e-mail attachments or my juice plotter graph images. Thanks!

Several ics revs back I could open the gallery app and it would only show folders with picture files in them. I also had the option to hide folders. Now when I open gallery, it goes and if a folder has any apk's in them it will display the icon picture as well. Well I have a folder with my apk's backed up so it is showing a bunch of icons in addition to my own picture folder. I cannot hide them either. Does this happen to anybody else? I do have the option to delete them. If I delete them, will it just remove them from the album and not delete the actual file?
Do u have an app backup apk downloaded?

You can put a "." In front of the folder name , no "'s to hide that folder, I know thats not the answer you wanted, but hope it helps.

Whenever I open the gallery, all of the artwork from my mp3s is mixed in with the my pictures. This makes it next to impossible to find something quickly. Is there an easy way to organize them out or hide them without clicking each individual picture? This seems very dumb. My iphone, nor any other phone I've ever used does this. Thoughts?
In your music folder, put an empty text file with the filename 'nomedia' (without the quotation marks and file extention). Then in settings > apps > gallery , select clear data.

Sorry for being dense, but the hierarchical structure you listed doesn't work.
Did you mean setting>general(tab)>apps?....if so "gallery" isn't listed there. If I go into gallery and try to move the photos, it just randomly moves them around.....no labels or anything. I don't understand. Do I need to go into my windows explorer on my pc to adjust the folders?....that seems dumb that you can't easily do it from the phone.

It normally has to be done on the computer I believe but it might not let the android media scanner find your music or use the pictures for album artwork. I honestly I just use QuickPic and it has the options to hide(.no media) and exclude folders and I just select exclude folders from my main music folder so it doesn't include them.

Hi!
Yes i meant setting>general(tab)>apps. Under apps if you scroll horizontally u will find gallery under 'ALL' tab.
In order to move files, folders or any other operation to a file or folder, you need to use a file manager app. There are different file managers available for android. Personally i use ES file manager. A pretty good app called just File Manager is already there in G Pro. You can use it to manage your folders.
As jesi.james above pointed out putting the .nomedia (sorry i missed the '.' before nomedia in my previous post) file in your music folder will hide the album arts from the gallery but it will hide the music files from the music player as well. I am sorry i wasnt aware of that. i do not store my music on my phone. I listen to it from play music.
To solve your problem, i found that there is an option in the gallery menu to hide/show albums. You can choose the albumd you do not want to see in your gallery. If you have a large music collection, you will have to select the albums one by one. Frustrating.
Next option is to use Quickpic. This is a very good alternative to the default gallery and it gives you options to select folders you want show or hide in quickpic as mentioned by the guy above.

If do a search and find a picture I want, then long-press it, and click "Download image", it downloads successfully but I can't find it anywhere with Solid Explorer or Google Photo. That said, if I go to the "Files" application it is right there when I open the application and the info bar at the top of the screen says "Downloads" and there is also a "docs" folder and all the other pictures I have done this with in the past.
I often do this to share them to Facebook or in a chat, but in order to use them I have to search and download, open Files, and use that to move it to Pictures or some other folder I know where it is, and then go back to the application and use it to upload the file by it opening Photo (the Gallery app).
Where are these downloads going that Solid Explorer or Photo can't find them?
BTW, I am not rooted.
Go into Google Photos, select the hamburger menu on the upper left, and choose device folders. You should be able to see from there where your pictures were dropped. If you open the folder, there's a toggle switch to sync it with Google Photos.

Yeah, I understand completely... But the folder isn't there.
I've had this exact same issue. I've resorted to taking a screen shot and cropping it.

I looked for fun and when I clicked the download notification and opened it in Google Photos it says it's in the folder /documents which doesn't exist ?
Anyway to save the photo I just clicked the share button in Google Photos and shared it to Solid Explorer and chose a location to save it.
