Hi,
Is there any way to extract the folder icons from one ROM and use them for another?
I like the look of one, but the useability of another...
Thanks

sure you can
go to the this reg key
[HKLM]\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start
find the folder's name which you are looking, inside it there is a string key name Icon, pay attention in value, it is the name and path of the icon file

I didn't try to modify them yet, but I think u have to modify the right .png and .brn files in the \windows\ folder:
Application launcher:
AL_##.png
AL_##_HL.png
"Quick dialer":
QD_##########.png
Media hub:
MH_####.brn
I don't know what those brn files are
Someone knows how to edit them?
If u want I have zipped all files in the attached zip.
Bye

I really never used photoshop before but I want to mod some icons I saw on here, it comes with a PSD file, assuming I understand, I can use it as template to create my own icons. The icons are just text, like "APPLICATION" I need different text so I want to use the PSD file to create more but I don't know how?
Can anyone help me?
I attached the psd file
Do you even have photoshop?
if you do just open the file and start editing
I do have it, but I don't understand how I can just start editing it and create same font style/size?
choose the text tool, hover over the letters (make sure youre on the text layer), click, and a 'cursur' should pop up and you can start editing.

- You need the font the icons are made with. Hopefully it's something standard like Helvetica or Tahoma. If not go to daFont and download the font.
- Open the .PSD and play around Photoshop is .. a world of fun!
- Saving the icons you've made in the right format is also a good thing. PNGs are nice, Non-interlaced.
Hello, atlast after 3days of download and work i have made a custom Rom that has my name on it with HTC Desire HD stuff and updates but now what i need to ask is :
1) how can i put my name Rom name in the Notification like RCMix or the others?
2) any easy way to make boot screens or animations or so found but that i can edit or anything?
3) any way to make a custem theme there is only the online thing and sadly i dont knw how to use it or its limited, i want like AuraxTSense is it possible?
4) if i have a update.zip file that has in it an .apk can i take it and add it to the app section and it will work normaly?
that is it for now thanks a lot for all the help i get and links....
To add your own version number, open the build.prop file and add it to the end of the 'Software version' line
To build themes from scratch, I believe that you'd have to rip apart the res-framework.apk.

If you change the .apk to .rar you can extract and see some jpegs and whatnot in their folders. This should be the one to edit.
Then again, these are the things I've picked up from the chatter between the more senior and tech-savvy.
You might want to look at this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=729867

If you upload your zip I can check it for any errors that might prevent it from showing up. Most times it's a simple problem with the XML or something similar
Here it is

Your zip is not set-up to work with Zooper. It's missing the vital XML file. Check out this tutorial on zooper.org on how to make icon sets work with Zooper. There is also a example zip so you can see how it should look to work with Zooper.
If you can't figure out how to make the XML work, I might be able to convert the icon set for Zooper over the weekend. But I can't promise anything.
Thanks

Can anyone w/ uccw knowledge help w/ zooper icons?
i have dozens of Uccw zips that i renamed to work w/ uccw. They where old Blackberry Berryweather zips and with uccw all you do is rename and it works. Uccw pulls the condition. I understand that Zooper needs the vital xml file but is that all. If a condition is named "thunderstorms.png" in a zip (for uccw) does it need to be different in zooper or does the xml file do the "work"? i have looking at the zooper.org info and the example file was emty or didnt download correctly or something. Really hope someone will see this that can help. thx!

Yes the config.xml file holds the coding so the actual file names for the graphics files can be anything as long as they are the same as what you have in the code. If you need help ... attach the zip and I'll see if I can get it to work.
Hi,
I am trying to create a theme for Note 2 with Note 3 mods. I am currently using DN3 v3 rom.
These are my questions :
1. I would like to know where installed apps from play store keeps there icons "I want to change them"
2. Where are all the stock apps "pre installed apps" located ?
3. Do i need to do any xml programming when replacing the app icons ?
Please tell me the path to those locations if you know it :fingers-crossed:
Each app is an apk file, and it contains icon(s). So there is no central place where all icons are stored.
the best you can do is to create an iconpack theme. just download one (it is apk file as well) and see how it's done. apk's are just signed-zip files, so you can open them (unzip) with any app like winzip or total commander (it is harder putting it back together). There are a lot of iconpacks available, just google it.
