Couple of annoying problems in phone mode: 1. Sometimes, even though phone is locked, it wil automatically answer calls when in my pocket - what's the point of being locked if it does this? 2. When on a call, if another call comes in phone will automatically switch to new call and point existing call on hold, with no warning or prompting from me - very annoying. Does anyone know how to stop these happening?
Other than that great phone with a few minor irritations, eg when in contacts looking for a number, if access say SMS or phone, when return to contacts has returned to top of address book - would be much more convenient if it stayed at last accessed name.
Did you enable "Automatic pickup" in your phone settings?
No, all settings are normal, and not set for automatic pick up??
Not sure if I was being clear earlier. So, here's a screenshot of the Automatic Pickup setting I was referring to.

I hope somebody can help,
First is how do you delete facebook contacts which have automatically been imported to my phone book?
This wasn't a problem at first, but now if I recieve a voicemail text message from vodafone the phone links it to a facebook friend who does not have a phone number on there account. I defriended the person it was linking to, but then it automatically linked it to the next facebook contact with no number.... so if I carry on down this route i'll have no friends left by end of week.
Other annoyances/help required are-
- can you make the led flash indefinitly until I read the notification, as it currently times out after afew minutes?
- can you wake the phone by using the central hard key (optical track pad button)?
- when you recieve a message/email while phone is sleeping can it tempory wake the phone (stay locked but light up)?
- Is there an alarm app you that gives you the option to cancel a snooze once youve pressed snooze?
Sorry lots of questions, I'm just trying to get my phone to how I like them to work. Its still a cracking phone best one ive every had by a long way!!!!
thanks in advance
Has anyone else besides me had a lot of mistaken calls because the phone decides to go to the contacts lists after a call ends? It's happened to me at least three times today.
In older versions of Android, you had to tap a contact's name, which took you to another page, which had a small phone icon to call. or a long press brought up a menu. In ICS, just touching a name in the contacts list makes a call. It's kind of frustrating that I have to be extra careful after a call now, and manually back out of the list.
So, is there a way to make it go home after a call ends? What kind of hackery would this require to the dialer apk?
On my Droid Incredible/Gingerbread I could configure whether the phone went to the call log or not after a call, but my Galaxy Nexus 4.0.2 always goes to the call log - this is especially annoying when I'm using the phone to navigate and get a call, when the call ends you don't just go back to the navigation. Anyone see a way to configure this that I missed?
Definitely interested in this as well
There is an app called "Not Call Log" which can take you to the home screen, dialer or open an app after hanging up. If you use Tasker, you can also set it to do anything with a "phone idle" condition (that may not make sense if you're not familiar with tasker).

Even though the call log appears, i believe the activity stack is is still maintained meaning after your call ends just press back twice, the second leaves the call log back to your prior activity.
Howdy Folks,
I may have ran into a show stopper on the Samsung Galaxy S3 from Telus. I need to have a PIN on my phone or some locking mechanism that is secured, swipe doesn't cut it, as I have working documents and phone numbers that I don't want easily accessed. I have a blueant S3 and a Motorola 505 hands free bluetooth device that work great when the phone is unlocked. However, S Voice doesn't appear to work when the phone is locked. When I try to place a call, I can see the phone light up, and have confirmed that S Voice is initiated, however, it does not accept the voice command. I have checked my call settings and the make outgoing calls when locked is checked. It works when swipe is engage, however, this is not an option for me.
Something I have found is that if I initiate the call with the hands free unit, click emergency call on the phone, click the return button from the emergency call, S Voice will start up. Sometime's it'll make the call, sometimes it won't.
Are there some settings that I'm missing?
Does anyone have a solution?
I sure hope so, otherwise, I will have to return the phone.
TIA for your responses.
Thanks,
Greg
I found a solution. I installed Tasker and Secure Settings. In Tasker, I create a profile for when a bluetooth connection is made to my handsfee unit. I then created a task that disables my PIN. I also created a profile that re-enables my PIN when the bluetooth connection is lost.
After a month of searching, I finally found a solution. I still say that Samsung has this screwed up and I'm very disappointed that I even had to install third party software to make something work.

This has been a problem for me also. I don't want to leave my phone unlocked all the time. Are those two separate programs?

They are two seperate apps within play store. Secure Settings is a plugin for Tasker, so you access it through it. Here's more detail on how to set it up:
Profile->Bluetooth Connected
Task->PlugIn->Secure Settings->Password/Pin->Disabled
I then added an Exit Task
Task->Plugin0>Secure Settings->Password/Pin->Enabled (Set to my old
PIN number)
Perfect! I definitely wouldn't have figured this one out without your help. I'll test it out tomorrow and see how well it works.
Couldn't get it to work with Samsung S4
Great suggestion on using Tasker, but unfortunately, I could make it work with my Galaxy S4. I successfully created the macro in Tasker and could get the lock on the lock screen to disable, but I could not get the phone to turn off the lock screen altogether (I'm running 4.2.2 unrooted). Couldn't find the ability in Tasker with Secure Settings to altogether turn off the lock screen (not just clear the lock). My phone is set to allow dialing from an accessory with the screen locked, but the phone isn't following that. If I have any lock screen (even with no lock set), bluetooth won't complete the call until the lock screen is cleared (even if it only requires a swipe). After not succeeding with this, I also tried to use Tasker to activate a couple unlock apps from the Google Play store, but those too had no capability to altogether disable the lockscreen so that the power button takes you directly to the home screen. Further research revealed an app called BtWiLocker that is designed to unlock the phone and clear the lockscreen when BT or WiFi are connected and relock when done. I've used that for a day so far, and it seems to be working OK after playing with it a little to get the settings correct.
I got it to clear the password when a BT connection was made, and reset the pin passcode when the BT connection ended.
The key thing is to create another profile for the BT connection when not connected. This can be done by checking off the "inverted" check box.
Initially, I only got 1/2 of it to work where it will clear, but if the device sleeps it will be locked again.
When somebody calling me and I pick up, I can make conversation but phone is stuck on ringing mode, and after few moments hang up phone call, and I have missed call...
Somebody else have this problem? How can I fix this?

That's weird, I did never face this issue but my A2L is relatively new (1 week only).
I'll try to phone to my own A2L using different devices to see if I face this issue.

Yes, it is very weird and annoying. Not happens every time, but sometimes... ?
This happened to me yesterday for the first time, but I thought that was a problem of the person that was calling me.
It was a number I didn't have in my contacts, and after the bug I immediately called back that number, but it was not available.
I thought the person that was calling me had a very low battery charge and while calling me his phone turned off, causing the bug (because immediately after the bug it was unavailable).
To this date I still did not have this problem.
Me too, i cant answer and reject calls when i upgrade to android pie
Solved: Screen not turning on with incoming calls
Step 1: Go to Dialer or Phone app settings. To do so, you can either go to main settings, then open ‘Apps’, and then scroll down to Dialer or Phone App.
You can also access App Info page by long pressing the app icon, and then tapping the App info option or the small ‘i’ icon in the corner.
Step 2: Now select “App notifications” option and turn it "on"
Step 3: Now if App notifications are turned off, your display won’t wake up when someone calls you. Also if only the “Incoming calls” permission is off, your screen will not light up with incoming calls. Make sure required permissions are turned on and your issue will be fixed.
Xiaomi Mi 2 Lite. I cannot get incoming calls to show on my screen, so I can't answer. Tried switching notifications off and on again, tried forcing stop. Two days ago I did a factory reset and was OK for 2 days. I think this is since latest Android update about a 10 days ago.
Call answer bug
I have similar issue on Mi A1, been going for a while. Sometimes, call comes in, the answer key cannot pick and cannot reject the call. This happened after a certain update I just dont know which. I have noticed that this mostly happens at some particular GSM antennas, sometimes, just by moving away from that antenna (that's when in a car) solves the problem. But as long as I remained in that location at that time, i cannot pick or reject calls, I also can't make calls, I get the promt, network problem, even though the service bars r showing. And in some cases the people calling will tell me, that calls to me are not going through.
This is driving me nuts. When I get a phone call I get a bar at the top of the screen with two buttone, one saying Decline and the other sayng Answer. I can tap on it like a demented woodpecker, but nothing happens. If Itry to swipe it, the two buttons just disappear into a void and the phone keeps ringing with no way to answer. Very, very occasionally I get the normal notification that I can swipe to answer, but I have to phone nearly everybody back.
