TP2 keyboard vs TP1 Keyboard - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

After having a brief trial with the TP2 at voda yesterday, I actually found the keyboard less efficient for me, as with moderate speed my fingers would ocassionally press down multiple keys at once. I think the letterbox design of the original prevented this, as begin typing almost flawlessly with first use.
So previous Touch pro/Fuze owners whove switched:
1. Whats been your experience with Speed/accuracy typing. Better/Same/Worse?
2. Do you miss any of the removed keys in day to day use?
Ill have have another go today to see if it was just my muscle memory messing things up. However if the keyboard is a slight step down, Ill be reluctant to bare the cost of the upgrade just for the larger tilting screen (which I really liked).

For me it´s more comfortable than the one on old TP
But even much better is this one:

Universal keyboard!
Not any keyboard of actual devices on the market can beat this one

Agreed. The TP2 keyboard is easily the best keyboard since the Universal, but it doesn't beat it.
To be honest, if they put the screen and other hardware from the TP2 into a Universal chassis with that keyboard, they'd have an utterly awesome device. (3.5mm audio FTW!).

Substitute for BlueAngel

I have used the Blue Angel for more than year. Its a great combination of PDA and Phone. Now I want to buy a new PDA phone which should be a real successor to BlueAngel. My considerations are same screen. Please help me decide. What is your opinion regarding HTC Shift?
Thank You.
well maybe better(closer) is TyTN
HTC Kaiser
The only real replacement for the BlueAngel is the Xda Flame. No contest!
I agree with Canaan. O2 Flame.
To BA users like myself, portrait form factor and a 3.5" or larger screen, are most important.
The Universal, Advantage, Shift, etc. are too bulky to carry around as replacements for phones and laptops. They also cannot be easily held in one hand and used with the stylus in the other, either because of their landscape orientation, or, even if they allow portrait orientation, because they are too heavy for comfort.
I wear loose jeans or dockers, and a BA fits fine in there, with no discomfort. I expect the Flame to be the same.
The 2.8" screens of most "feature phones" are too small.
I've used my BA for 2 years instead of a phone+laptop. I'm ready to switch to the Flame.
As for no QWERTY, that's no problem. I use a Stowaway BT keyboard when I need a real keyboard, while the soft keyboard with stylus is more usual for quick typing. Built-in keyboards, including the BA's, are just too small for my fingers.

As for no GPS, I think this isn't a liability, because BT GPS can be carried in pocket or mounted in vehicle, and having built-in GPS ties you to one GPS solution (or forces you to buy another while wasting it), and raises privacy concerns.
Eagerly waiting for the Flame to arrive...

Does your keyboard extend 0.25mm or so to the right of the display?

The bottom part of my VZW TP2 (the part of the keyboard) seems to stick out ever so slightly to the right of the display portion. This is more noticeable toward the top of the device, leading me to believe that my device is slightly crooked (even if it isn't noticeable without feeling the sides of the device). Even though no functionality is lost, it still does bother me, because I always notice the asymmetry.
It's about 0.25mm or so to the right.
Are your devices like this too? The keyboard part slightly to the right of the display part of the TP2? I did drop my TP2 on the ground rather hard, but other than a couple of scratches (not on the screen, thank heavens), it works fine. Perhaps the drop caused this?
I'm hoping that I can somehow lead Verizon to believe this is a hardware defect and get a new one in exchange >_>
Are you a troll?
Seriously, 0.25mm?
I'm dead serious. It feels uncomfortable and I'm a bit OCD about this kind of stuff.

Can someone just feel their TP2 and tell me ;_; If I wanted to troll, I'd make a more idiotic topic.
Mine is the same..

Ah thanks, wouldn't have thought about describing the problem or explaining it with the word "flush." Much appreciated.
My Tmobile TP2 is the same way, Doesn't bother me.

[REQ]PRJ[IDEA]app to Emulate D-Pad with hardware zoom bar on rhodium or topaz

First off I appologize if this is in the wrong section but I didn't know where to start this thread so I thought it would be great if we could develop such an application to work on all these devices which feature a pretty useless zoombar.
I used to own a Touch Pro (Raphael) and evolved to a new Touch Pro2 (Rhodium), the one thing I miss the most (besides the camera LED) is the D-Pad and Enter button.... when the phone is in portrait mode.
I think this image describes my idea pretty well:

I have no programming skills so I am seeking the great help of all the developers here on XDA. I hope some of you like my idea and post comments and hopefully someone will try and develop this for us to use.
It should have 5 main functions, slide Left, slide Right, tap Up, tap Down, & tap Enter.
What do you think?
+1
I would pay for an app that would do what you just described.
There are several threads about the zoom bar and some solutions
http://www.fuzemobility.com/your-zoo...s-your-friend/
Energy ROMs also have scrolling enabled in some apps and zooming in others
(I know, NRGZ puts out great ROMs) which comes in handy but what you described would come close to d-pad like controls, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
I loved ALL the buttons on my Tilt (Kaiser),
I got used to the available buttons on my Touch Pro and resistive area by the d-pad.
Absolutely love my Tilt 2, but find the lack of buttons can get frustrating.
bump, this thread needs some serious attention from the developers, i would love a nice xmas gift in the form of this app
+1 - the current functionality is pretty useless - it's just a waste of space at the moment.
i would want this so i can play the emulators for nes and snes game.

Lego XPERIA Cuddle (not Craddle, just a Craddle WannaBe)

What I found
Lego X1 Craddles WannaBe
n.b: (before read) If it seems useless, kiddo, trash and so on, yeap, just leave it… ;-)
Months ago, I read a thread in XperiaX1.net talking about unavailable orginal Xperia series’ craddle (probably happens in X1 only) but there is a model sold in eBay but it looks so ugly in potrait (Maybe it’s just my opinion) and because I loved playing lego and skilled when I was in primary (fortunately, I still save the Lego till I’m in college now), I’m planning to recycle some of lego model that I’ve made in primary to make a craddle for my X1, maybe I named it as X1 cuddle

ps: I wish it's legal to crop the 'Lego' logo and
This is the most simplest cuddle which is inspired by my Satio’s Video Stand.
Actually, I have calculated and experiment a little for this lego’s angel wether it’s strong enough to hold my X1. It works and I can browse comfortably and even watch a Movie better.
I also make the lego constructed reversely and sticked some silicon glue in each corner of this cudle to prevent (or at least minimize) my X1 from scartch.
For charging, it works better after I replace the ‘clumsy’ orginal X1 USB cable, or reposition the X1 to 90° (not 270°).
But since I’m a med-student not an engineering, maybe the construction is far from perfect. Hmmm, maybe next time when I get holiday, I will make the cuddle from other materials that are more easy –formed, like fibreglass.
Thank you for reading.

dock with keyboard ? or some kind of detachable keyboard?

I have been thinking for a long time about how phone manufacturers instead of making a phone with a keyboard which adds extra bulk -why dont they just make a thin all screen phone then include an accessory or attachment keyboard of some sort...
so this is where I applied that to the MT4G...I was wondering if I could use anything as such a device or is there an actual device made for this already?...thanks very much in advance for your comments...
They have those, but they are kind big and bulky...
Because we dont wanna look like total NERDS...

haha, yea that is understandable, but I was referring to smaller keyboards more fitting to the size of the phone...
There are small portable bluetooth keyboards that may or may not work out there. At least one manufacturer advertises android compatability and supplies drivers. No idea if it works on this particular device though.
It's still maybe the size of a netbook keyboard but folds in half.

I've got a Logitech DiNovo mini, it rocks

This is completely unrelated to the keyboard but, do you still need that Sprint Hotspot since your phone is rooted and you can tether from that?
I looked at one the other day that went onto the PS3 Controller.. Im sure they can make one to fit the phone..
I remember my friend had a Verizon phone from LG that was touch screen that had a keyboard he could plug into a dock on the side and actually folded over the screen like a case. It came with the phone and the phone worked with or without the keyboard. It thought this was a awesome idea it would be cool if this idea would have caught on but his phone was the only one I saw like this.
