ive been stuck in the 0% for about 5 minutes now. it usually never takes this long. is there any way i can restart the process with out pulling the plug and bricking the phone?
i had that problem before when it would get stuck at zero, but it would time out and give a connection error after a minute or two. did it really sit at 5 minutes or more?
either way, pull out your microsd card and try again

I'm using Jellybeast rom for a couple weeks now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885619
I plugged my phone in to my charger at work today, which is a regular occurrence. After about 20 minutes I checked on the charge level and found the phone to be really warm/hot. I unplugged it and let it sit for a while. Still hot at that point so I rebooted it and it would never get past the Galaxy S2 progress bar screen. Pulled the battery and left it out for my 1 hour drive home.
I'm at home now and put my SIM card into my Vibrant and my S2 still won't boot. It's also still getting warm when I try to boot it.
Is my S2 hosed at this point? I have the insurance on it, but would hate to lose my data on the internal SD. I really don't want to reset or flash a new ROM on it right now.
Edit: Pulled battery and plugged into charger. It's vibrating every couple seconds. No response to any button presses.

Not positive, but for some reason sounds like you are in a bootloop, or soft bricked.
You can wait and see what others say, but you may need to try to get into download mode and Odin flash stock....and go from there.
I've had the vibrate problem a couple times, usually after a bad flash of some sort tho. Fixed it with Odin.
Sent from my cell phone telephone....
I had a similar problem when ever I would use cm10. So I just used Odin and went back to stock... I think im done flashing for a bit...honestly I think your might have to use Odin homie.

Hey everyone.
First things first, thank you so much for taking the time to read this and help me out. Anything is truly appreciated.
So yesterday, I was driving with my maps open to a location, My battery was at 63% so I plugged it into the car charger. Next time I looked at it, it was just stuck on the "Samsung Note II" logo and it lasts for about 10 seconds, then blacks out, then shows up again etc.
I was able to plug it into the charger (when the phone is off and I plug it in, it does charge and shows the battery animation) and it started up and I was able to reset it from the settings (however, when the phone was on it didn't say it was charging but the percentage was going up). I was able to keep it on for 10 minutes and it said the battery was at 5% until I unplugged it, it then just shut off. I've tried searching for solutions. I don't think its the power button because it doesn't just turn on or off randomly. I put it into Odin mode/ recovery and wiped it and wiped the cache. I charged it until it was full, and also took the battery out for 9+ hours.
I think that's all I can think of I have tried. I ordered a new battery thinking that is problem but wanted more experienced opinions. Thanks again! Feel free to ask me for any more information.

Okay, Awesome. I thought so too and just wanted to make sure! I get it sometime today so I will keep you updated.
Title say it all I've tried a dozen different ROMS including stock (10 and 20 series) and every one of the fights me, it has gotten so bad I'm afraid of reboot the phone, since sometime it takes 45 minutes to get it to restart cleanly. I have installed liveboot so I could get an idea when a boot is clean and when it is bad, but even then this phone simply sucks, when it comes to booting cleaning. I know if I see messages about temperature it will not boot that time period, but beyond that it is a wait and pray type operation. I've pull the back cover off more times than I can remember simply because I needed to pull the battery to force a reboot after the last one failed to complete (note now I wait 10 minutes for a reboot if it does not succeed by then it never will).
Even when it boots it takes 5 to 8 minutes to simply restart, it is basically scary since I can not assume that if I reboot the phone will be usable within a 45 minute period of time. I've tried clearing cache between boots, with no improvement in the success rate and tried all different ROMs again without improvement. Once it boots the phone is rock solid, but if you need to back it up or something plan to waste the better part of an hour, luckily I can swap batteries as a reboot could use 50% of a battery if all goes badly.
Just sick of fighting to boot a phone , that I know works fine, but only boots 1 in 4 times.

My nexus 5x just doesn't boot up.
I had the same problem twice, last tine a few weeks ago.. A solution by a friend; Put the device in a plastic sack, close it very good. Then put the (enveloped) device in afreezer for a least 8 hours. After this time the batteryis absoltely empty. Now close it to yor USB-Lader and it takes only a few mitutes that in runs again. It worked for me twice, nd in worket with other deviceslike Samsung and Huawei.
I had it also some days ago but I had no time to put it in the fridge or just wait to fix it by itself.
My trick was to open the back cover and remove the battery connection for some seconds. After re-connecting it started up right away.
I have the same problem. I just want to turn it on to download some of my data. I have tried putting it in the freezer though only for about half an hour to an hour. I'm afraid the condensation may damage it too much.
Someone advised me to put it in the oven for a bit (lol), not sure if this is actually gonna do anything.
I tried that heat gun multiple times, put into freezer for about 4 hours, removed battery, charged it 5 days in a row.
I only managed to get the red light flashing, but it still wont turn on.
Is there anything more to try?
I personally think the battery is completely dead, but I dont have another battery to try it out.
I know this is an old thread but thought I'd post this anyway in case anyone is still trying to fix their Nexus 5x. I've tried everything to get a sign of life out of this phone, nothing worked. I was messing around with it and without even paying attention to what I was doing, I was holding just the Power button down for somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes and out of nowhere the phone vibrated. Looked at the screen and sure enough it booted up just fine! Can't believe it! If anyone reads this and gives it a try, let me know if you have any success.
So last week i rooted my phone it was all running fine for a few days until the battery ran flat when i was out.
when i got home i put my phone on charge and it wont charge it says it has moisture. ive tried every way to dry it and im convinced it has no moisture inside. it wont connect to my pc.. i can get the phone to twrp recovery and it will stay there for hours if i leave it plugged inbut will not reboot. i can turn it on for about 5 seconds if i try hard but no matter how long i charge it when it turns on it says 0% battery and then turns back off. i can get it to download mode but sme deal as in twrp.
i have tried 3 different chargers and cables all do the same thing.. im so stressed because i have no money to buy another one:crying:

Leave it 1-2 days without trying anything and then try again.
