sms in the Underground - XPERIA X1 Themes and Apps

is there an application that would automatically send an unsent sms ? ...in case I have no signal in the underground (Tube)

I have a need for a similar app or mod. It's annoying to keep waiting for signal and then press the "Message not sent. Try again?"-link (in threaded view) when I finally get a signal. If I recall correctly, the stock ROM on Xperia tried again every five minutes or so on its own if no signal was available. Would that be possible to emulate on WM 6.x?

Me too!! Can someone work on this?

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that if I soft reset my phone and it has signal, it tries to resend any messages that failed earlier. Has anyone else noticed similar behaviour? It's interesting and I think it could be used somehow if one were to develop an app or tweak that would retry sending unsent messages.

how do you keep unsent sms always in outbox, not in drafts

any ideas? I have low signal where I live. but occassionally, it would find signal. but unsent messages always go to drafts, therefore, doesn't send automatically when signal returns.
go to Draft folder, open the message, send again
if not work, soft reset..
nope. i mean I want it to stay in outbox so it automatically resends, until it finds a signal. I don't want to go to drafts and click on resend for 100 times.
Thanks for the reply
then why not move the msg in draft to outbox so that when the signal reaches you.. it will automaticaly send your msg
After a while of not sending, it moves back to drafts
Has no one a solution?
If I have no signal my outgoing sms will be moved directly to drafts
I want that the SMS stay in outbox until I have a signal.
I use Windows Mobile 6.1 (HTC Touch Pro 2).
Sorry for my bad english.
I have the exact same problem and have been looking for a solution but I cant find any, i supose there are a key that you can change in the regestry.
Windows Mobile 6.5 -> Same Problem
Same (but more annoying) problem with Touch Pro 2!!
I have a TP2 on Orange UK using WM6.5 and my problem is slightly more complicated! If a message cannot be sent it goes into drafts, but when I open it to try to resend it has my own mobile no. as the recipient, so cannot simply press "send". The only way I can resend it is by selecting "menu" then "forward" and then re-entering the recipient.
Unbelieveably frustrating!! Can anyone help please?
having the same problem. anyone has a sol?
i've seen this thread pop up again and again, and although i want to help, i cannot figure out, exactly what the problem is, or re-create it. when, by any odd chance, i have no network coverage at all, i wouldn't attempt to send an sms, i wouldn't start a phone call either, cause it just can't work, so why not wait, till there is coverage?
if, by another odd chance, i wouldn't have realized that i had no network connection, the sms would remain opened and marked in red "the message could not be sent, retry?" and i would walk a few yards and hit retry.
and then i know it has been sent, because it marks as sent and seconds later, the receipt would arrive, telling me it arrived at its destination.
and in a 3rd even less probable situation, if i constantly had to fight with bad reception, i would change the carrier to another network, to get better coverage.
remember, the situation you described, is not a bug in the software, it is a matter of how you deal with the phone, when you decide to write sms, and most of all, where. an sms, that has never been attempted to be sent, is supposed to go in drafts, because the phone can't tell, whether you want to save it for later, or whether you tried and sent it, but without sim/network, it's all the same.
If you get low signal then it will always go to drafts and when you receive ,you have to send it manually.

[REQ] SMS Auto-retry (low signal/no signal)

The way Windows Mobile handles sending SMS when in low or no signal areas is very annoying. If it fails to send the message it stores it in the drafts with a link to try resending it in the conversation view. You can tap the retry link but if it fails again it will store it in drafts AGAIN and now you have multiple retry links. When it succeedes it doesn't even remove the failed ones.
If someone could change it so that it will keep auto-retrying and wait until signal is back to send it, it would be great.
If that is too hard, is it possible to make it just show only 1 retry link in the conversation view and then auto-remove it once it successfully sends? I hate having to go to drafts and delete multiple messages.
Dear petard,
it seems as if nobody is intersted in developping such an useful hack in order to remove one of the most annyoing bug our PDA are provided with.
I'd like my PDA to look like a Nokia phone sometimes, even though I wouldn't need to..... but I wonder why such an advanced device as a PDA phone can't have a similar feature. It's really weird, I didn't expect Microsoft not to solve the problem
Agreed, this is highly annoying...
Worse yet is that if an SMS fails to be sent from HTC's TF3D SMS app, it actually appears in the stock WM SMS app's conversation view without a resend link, so you don't even know that it hasn't actually been sent.
this is so annoying and has drove me crazy since i got my phone back in april. i dont understand why all my older cell phones did this but my SMARTphone does not. i am constantly needingt this feature
Not sure what phone you are using, however with my HD2 if you use custom message client made by Death Angle then he has a built in auto retry sending message. It is quite a nice message client.

Your text message cannot be sent.

I tried to sent a text message and, after a slight delay, got the following:
Your text message cannot be sent.

Is there some sort of app or registry setting that I could change that'd ask if I wanted to resend the message? Having to retype in messages is rather annoying.
According to this post Windows Mobile 6.1 added this feature but I don't see it and I'm running 6.5. Maybe the HTC TouchFlo 3D interface removed it?

It doesn't retain a copy of the message in your drafts folder, or outbox...? Whenever I get that message I can just pull it up from there and hit send again
Whenever I get this message, after trying to resend it a few times, I realize I tried sending a text to an email address.
Make sure the number has an area code as part of the number.
Just another possible solution.
Is it for all text messages? If its a specific number sometimes the persons number is disconnected

this is the correct answer...if you have a good signal and you get that error msg, then that person has not paid their billy bill...
This problem comes up quite often if you've flashed a different radio onto your device. If you have flashed a custom radio, try out another or stock. If that's not the case, you might be in a poor coverage area. Both are common culprits, but may not apply for you.
SMS doest go to outbox folder
I have the same problem
When I have no service coverage I would like to type sms messages and as soon as I get it make phone send them all out. But unfortunately, when I don't have service HTC touch pro 2 keeps trying to send sms out and after a couple of attempts gives me message that it was not able to send it. I have to click on each message and resend it when I have service. Instead, I want my phone to put all sms into outbox sms folder and send them all when I actually have service.
I know other phones perform this function well. I went thru all settings but couldn't get it to put sms into outbox when no service available.
Does anyone have fix for that?
Also having a similar problem
Hi all,
Same, or similar thing with me. I'm on Vodafone in the UK, and I've got a friend who is on '3' in the UK. If I text him with a new fresh message, and hit send, it goes to him no problems. If he replies and I attempt to reply back - then I get "Your message could not be sent. Try again?" underlined in red. Tapping on this just generates the same problem again and again.
I've tried his number with/without spaces in it, ensured his contact name has no non-alpha characters in it, tried his number in +447xxx format as well as 07xxxx - all to no avail.
It does not happen with any other contact in my phonebook and I end up having to let the message fail, then forwarding my reply to him, so it leaves my device as a new message.
Now, as it's the UK, its nothing to do with him having not paid his bill (we don't get charged to receive SMS in the UK), and I've got great signal (I work for a Vodafone associated company and we've got a cell on-site, so it's full signal of HSUPA for me).
I am completely at a loss to understand why this happens - I have other friends on '3' that SMS's go to fine, so I'm guessing it's not a Vodafone to '3' issue either.
Any ideas anyone?!
Adam C.
PS: Stock ROM running WM6.5, unlocked GSM, nothing odd about the configuration/software either!
...bump.
Anyone?
Thx,
a.
change your network setting for automatic to manual. and enable call waiting now your problem is solved. i was suffering from the same problem but now solved

SMS delay/not retrieving :(

Hey guys,
Picked up a desire yesterday and its great, though I'm having some issues with sms. I notice I don't receive any texts until I send a text first, then I'll receive 2 or 3 texts, timestamped in the past, up to an hour ago!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
edit: unrooted on o2
i get a similar problem, i know i should have received a text message but it doeant show up for hours.
unrooted on tmobile uk
Most likely when your phone is connected over GPRS the text don't come through till you disconnect, used to happen on my N95.
So if my phone is operating in GPRS mode, until it decides it doesn't need the internet anymore and disconnects, it won't retrieve texts... right. So any workarounds or fixes for this?
Prety much, after I use GPRS I just made a call and during or after the call my text came in.
Been getting this all day, are people really just dealing with this or is it only a few people that have this issue?
I am having another problem... on T-mobile, my phone won't download MMS messages. It will just say Download error, General Network Failure... After it expired (3days) , I was sent a link to the T-mobile website, where I am able to see it for 14 days.
Another problem that I am having, the phone is struggling sending long text messages... 4 or 5 normal lenght messages 500-600 characters... I am using the Text App provided with the phone.
I have a problem that I dont think is an actual problem I think its just how the phone works, and tbh its a bit rubbish.
If you dont have signal when you hit send (im my office at work I only get signal on a little square of the desk) the phone says "message not sent". Sometime when it gets signal it will send the message, but if it doesnt get signal quick enough it seems to just give up sending.... a bit lame really....
I'm going to post a message up with the T-mobile UK MMS settings so people in future can find it on search. Have a look in 5 mins.
JAmes.
I've got the same issue with my HTC Desire.
My operator is a Belgium one, namely Mobistar.
I've got the impression that when i open the sms box, i start seeing the messages. Don't know if it's the communication that goes wrong, or the 'throughput' in the phone (screen, alerting...).
After installing (and using of course) chompSMS, this problem is gone... yipppie...

[Q] MMS not sending all the sudden

I'm on most recent firmware and most recent CM10.1 nightly and suddenly MMS pics will no longer send. It tries to send but then fails with messages "message not sent" and "service not activated on network"
This has never happened before and happened all the sudden yesterday. I had sent one pic that did work, then a few minutes later I tried another and it failed in this manner, as have all further attempts. I even deleted all of my sms/mms messages thinking there was something wrong with the messaging program. No help. What it APPEARS is happening is that instead of the program sizing the images down to an attachment-friendly size, it is trying to send the full ~2MB jpegs and it would seem that is too big for MMS. But if this is the case, I have no idea why it would have started doing this all the sudden.
Is there anything in the messaging or gallery programs that I can reset or refresh that might help this?
Thanks

If you can send a SMS (simple text message) then all you need to do is have your provider take you out, and then reinsert you into the network. SOMETIMES, sending a picture to yourself after a battery removal boot can get things going too.....
You also could try the basic and use app manager and clean out the cache of whatever app you're using to send the MMS msg, and retry it. Remember, the MMS takes a while longer to send vice the SMS transmission.
Good Luck!
