speaking seriously, it's better to say about port of 2.6 manila, which is much easier and real.
as I'd not say as for the moment, that android can easily replace windows mobile. as an os for just phone - ok, for mobile pc - not at all.
if say about port of 2.6 manila - it's already has been done for topaz, for example. thus, the final goal is just to resize it to vga, mostly

love it . it is easier than I thought .
Anyway, I also think porting manila 2.6 might be easier but not as charming and a parallel VGA project on porting Hero is interesting

TF3D (whatever version) is HTCs' own solution to sell their hardware, covering the ugliness that WM is. They know it, that's why with every version Manilla goes deeper and deeper into WM, replacing more and more UI and features.
Can't compare TF3D and Android. Android is not a User Interface replacement. So the skill and knowledge that goes into porting these two thins are vastly different
I tried to install this on my diamond and it freezes when :
booting linux..
is complete , and stay in it!
bye!
PS :I think to port android is MUCH better than to port manila.
Sense UI is show!!!
I would agree - tf3d has been designed by htc and it looks like theyre definately sticking to the whole concept. If you guys want to try out something similar to the hero interface on windows mobile give pointui a try out - its the mst stable senseui copy ive tried (install pointui and then search senseui on the forums). each page is heavily customisable as in android as well

Manila won´t work on the Artemis. It needs grafik Hardware and a lot of CPU Power.
Hi meer

I have just tried this on my orbit and removed it because I couldn't manage to configure it with touchflo.
But I saw enough to be impressed. It seems to be the same as the standard HTC cube, but with an extra side containing 12 launcher buttons. Now if we could have a cooked rom including this cube, that would be excellent. The cube would then be a really useful tool, not just a toy.
Is this possible??

Excellent!!
Alternative Cube
That cube isnt anoter version of HTCs hence not being able to use the HTC tool to configure it. HTC uses a "fake" cube (it only has 3 sides for starters!!). This one is a true 3D (open GL cube).
There is a seperate config program and I think all the settings are in an XML file if you want to do it the old-fashioned way!
Download Config Program
Yesterday I read about Nvidia's new APX 2500 processor which I understand is being built into new HTC phones. Some say the first phones with this processor might ship this year. Manila wouldn't be such a challenge for it like our little Omaps. That's my currenty theory what it's inteded for.
Hello everyone,
I have been experimenting with the WM 6.1 ROM's, like a lot of you, but I have not been completely satisfied with any yet. I am no developer or anything of that such.
This post is for those of you who just want to change your homescreen look and a few minor things, to get rid of that WM 6 look.
I have attached a few .CAB files as well as a black theme.
You will have to extract the HTC_New_default.tsk file to your WM devices "Windows" folder. It will then show up on your themes as HTC default.
These files may have been posted in another thread, but I am starting this thread just to be simple. Feel free to add your HTC .CAB's as well.

nice dude!! simple enough
Awesome bro.
Nice Try. At least all those people with no satisfying result or are afraid of upgrading can take help from this work of yours to taste the new interface including the Home Screen Plug-in
Keep the good work up
One question. Is this extract for 3g dialor also make 2g dialor to 3g dialor assuming I have activated the 3g in Advance Configuration Tool
interesting idea for those that "arent happy" with 6.1 or cant get it to work.
You should re-title it though to "I cant believe its not 6.1"
I'm digging it. I also feel the same way... most 6.1 roms are fast right after install but after really using the phone for a week it turns into a turd pretty quick, especialy if you install a lot of apps.
Been using original HTC 6.0 WWE rom without issues for quite some time. I try about every new rom when they come out but I always go back to this one for reliability.
BTW: What com manager you using? Thanks!! GOOD WORK!
Here is the boot screen that I use. Makes it feel more like 6.1 Copy to windows folder on device. Overwrite the old one.
-Enjoy

you'd better make your own "welcome screen" so you can add your own touch in it as a part of the customization you do after flashing a new ROM but it case you like the pre defined ones, here is one from PDA-Corner that I also like.
I hope I'm not breaking the law od copyrights by posting this (please tell me if I do)

Thnks for posting the files. They will be usefull even thought I have flashed my device several times.
There is a leaked partial beta ROM of WM6.5 in the Blue Angel section. Can someone retrive it? Thanks in advance.
NOTE: THIS ROM IS CURRENTLY NOT FOR DIAMOND. UNLESS YOU ARE EXPLORING WAYS OF BRICKING YOUR DEVICE, DON'T FLASH IT!
EDIT:

Tbh, it's very, very unlikely that it can be ported because it's QVGA first and foremost. However we might be able to extract elements. I hear the scrolling is supposed to be a big improvement amongst many other things.
Finally, I think it's only a matter of time before a VGA version surfaces .
Hope this answered your question.
its seems to be still a mix of 6.1 and 6.5. But none the less its still winmo 6.xxx....it can be done
Strange...this screenshot shows it on the Uni (VGA):

What other improvements do you know of?
anyone looked at the cab files that come with the rom?anything us diamond user could use? (proably not as its not vga but you never know)
Tried them, but no joy. There's 5, the only one I haven't tried is IE, since I didn't see much point.
Haven't noticed any changes to poutlook though. Anyone else?
to me it looks completly like a fake. the right device has completly wm6.1 style taskbar and has touchflo 3d manila background set. ??
but not running manila to huge fonts and so on.
1. its a veryvery very very early 6.5 built or completly fake as we are used from our chinese friends.
Would be inclined to believe a very early build, since the video on WMPoweruser shows the scrolling in action, and not even FTouchSL (a commercial software) has achieved that level of kinetic scrolling yet.
Could this be used on both platforms (GSM and CDMA)?

Yes I know that this build exists for the Diamond. But to get a ROM as close as possible to the screenshot (which would be great), it would help alot if one knows where this screenshot is taken from.
I suppose it's one of Xannytech's rom (for HD or HD2)!
the picture is very beautiful
fast and steable is important.

Hy all.
I and probably meni other users are not happy abaut task manager build in Windows Mobile. It's way to hidden!
Task list shoud be visible from home screen. This is the only way I can see what I have to do in comming days.

wow...amazing work....have u made it?
I just put some Sense graphic's together and this came out.
Now we need some developer's to make the hard part, and that is modifying the Sens files.
I'm hoping Co0kieMonster could taka a look at this.
BUMP....Great idea!!!
looks awesome. I wonder how much of this is covered by ptasks.
A manila tab would definetly be awesome but not neccessary for me
I tried ptasks... and gave up, it was too slow for regular uses..
...maybe you give "mvcal" a try (www.portablepim.de)
hence the website is in german, the software will be english after installation. If you prefer german, you can switch to it in options->languages)
or you download directly from here
It cannot only manage the appointment, it also handles the tasks in a fingerfriendly manner and combines it with appointments.
Very interesting, this is the function that lacks to sense. it would be nice to share it ou explain how to made it.
thanks
bump!!! I like this!!
Marty
Really interested too.
Would love to have something like this.
Its an amazin idea..it mus be not so hard for the great Developers here on Xda..

Yep this is just the kind of thing which could be done using the same methods I've used. The whole concept is to remove the difficult sense side and provide a simple way to populate a tab.
If a developer is interested in doing the TodoUtil program (.net side) I can probably provide a shell of the Sense RSSTab which by design is supposed to be generic enough to be populated with any kind of list data.
There are still features I've not yet built into the Sense tab (long press selection, left-hand icon selection, notifications), but as I develop the RSSTab the idea is I can expand what it is able to do.
Even as it currently stands, I don't think there is much that would need to change to get a simple To-Do tab.
