General/Development Android sections? - About xda-developers.com

Hi there,
since this forum is not (just) about Windows Mobile phones but about HTC phones I have a question.
Where should I create general Android application/hacking thread? Not related to the G1, Sapphire nor Hero.
Development and Hacking is a great source for Windows Mobile hacks and tweaks but putting a Android thread here doesn't seem right to me.
Currently there are 3 Android powered devices on this forum. But how about general development stuff and applications?

general development is about general development and developing...not about WM development so it is totally ok to put android apps over there

i think we need to have a new device in the general disussion section for the mytouch3g 32b because the one for sapphire is getting mixed up and confuseing

Suggestion: Vogue android development subforum.

I think it's time there was vogue android development subforum, currently most of the vogue android posts go into one 400 page thread. While it was fine to do this initially I would rather keep that thread for kernel development.
Vogue has by far the most advanced android port, we now have quite a few developers and people are starting to post their own builds.
I see a poll for a general android porting forum and this is fine, but it wouldn't help vogue much since the kernel development is very device specific.
Thanks
This would be perfect. The 400 page thread makes it very difficult to find specific information on the project, and makes it especially difficult for newcomers to join in.
Definitely, yes

HD2 Android ROM subforum

A very good morning to all admins and mods!
As new ROMs and builds of Android for HD2 keep popping up, I think there is a need for a subforum for Android ROMs within Android for HD2 section so as to not mix all general threads with the ROM threads.
thanks for reading!
Perhaps Android HD2 Q&A and HD2 Android Roms within the main hd2 section?
Sounds ok tbh - but then what about winmo roms (that often come with someone else's android) designed to solely run android versus android builds? where do you draw the line?
The winmo ROMs should stay in the winmo ROM thread logically IMHO.

Yeah, but if you see some rom makers - like Energy and Chucky I think have posted 'android focused' Roms in the android section
so it has got a bit confusing tbh.

Hopefully with the markers, the forum can stay organized. If there's a specific thread that needs to be moved/deleted/better organized, feel free to ping me or another moderator.
i posted this but i wanted it to be more visable
I would like to suggest not just a Q&A thread but a subsection dedicated to this.
The reason why is because to many random questions that have been answered before I being posted in the main section. I value all the members that we have but id like to see the forum's being used more productively.
I noticed in the Q&A thread a lot of peoples questions had been skipped over. I believe this is do to the number of post that get added to this thread at any one time.
I think that if we had a sub-section just for questions less flaming would go on. Also there wouldnt be a need for double post as these topics would have their own thread. I believe it would make the mods life easier to control all the unneed post without having to drop the ban hammer.
also there is a lot of information in the other threads that are about android. I think that needs to be highlighted so that the dev's dont have to deal with the I'm knew to android questions.
I have put a lot of thought into this and I would just like for us to get along.
mskip or joshkoss or dharvey would you please consider this Idea.
If anyone else supports this idea please say so. I did not give this post its own thread because I felt I would be adding to the problems of random uneeded threads. I also tried not to call anyone out so please dont be offended.
I like the idea. Let us see if anyone else like it too.

The logic in this idea is sound.
Can't argue

Request for sub-forum: Omnia 2 Android Development

Can I request the Omnia 2 to have another sub-forum for Omnia 2 Android Development, like the one in HD2? This is because currently I don't think many Omnia 2 users aware of the presence of Android development on Omnia 2. It will also be easier for users to browse through instead of putting all the ROM development in one forum.
Omnia2Droid Project Thread @ XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918778
I can confirmed that the project is a long term on-going project as the dev team has promised and now are working on porting of Android 2.2 and 2.3 for future development. Many XDA users has response positively for the threads so I think we deserved a new sub-forum (e.g different sub-forum for different OS development for HD2)

[Q] General Android (and WinMo) Discussion...?

Where is the forum for general Android (and WinMo) discussion? The general development/hacking forum says not to post questions, or they will be moved. Moved to WHERE?! Where are questions and general Android discussion supposed to go?
Are you looking for "Android Software and Hacking General" or "Android Software Development"?
Every supported operating system on this site has its own OS specific forum. In each one is a general forum where discussion or general questions can go. WP7 is the exception with an actual Q&A forum.

Why no dedicated surface forum?

Hello all,
I came to this forum because I purchased a surface tablet and want to share my experience with other people about this device. However, it's quick for me to realize that the surface section is under windows 8 development and hacking, which new users cannot post in unless he got over 10 posts. For any other device, there is usually a dedicated forum with general, Q&A, development and hacking sections. This allows new users to post in general and Q&A. For example, the nexus 10 which is also a tablet has it owns dedicated forum. So why do we have this biased treatment to the surface tablet?
Thank you.
I would add this request under the device request section. Actual development for the Surface (as a tablet device, not for Windows 8 RT applications in general) hasn't really picked up all that much which is why it is in a sub-forum. If/when it picks up, we'll be sure to add a forum.
I'm somewhat frustrated by this too. I'd like to add to discussions in the surface subforum, but I'm still a noob here. I don't have pedantic questions to ask, so I can't rev my post count in meaningless ways in other forums.
Perhaps someone could drop the minimum post count in that forum?
