[Q] augmented reality - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I found this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493333
But I was wondering if anything else had appeared?
I understand that without a compass the applications are limited. But games and fun little bits of software?

Apps are confusing...

Hey there
I love balckstone...I have no problems with it...only sometimes some bug or lag or sometimes battery dies sooner than I would like it to due...but it is OK...I bought this device because it has huge display and looks awesome...
This type of question was asked before...but not like this...
I bought this because I wanted it to be something that I will want to use every single minute - but it is not like that - I thought that there are millions of MEGA AWESOME apps but there are not...
And here comes the question...(this is my first WinMo device so I haven;t done any research in the past):
Is blackstone/WM 6.1 too new so no cool apps and games exist for it?
Are they still in development? Or there is nothing going to happen?...
My point is that I don't know how it was and how it will be...I remember when IpodTouch came (I own one) we all waited, first we did jailbreak than played few games that werent that cool but nowadays I can play AWESOME games on my ipod...so is this the same with blackstone? is that all fancy stuff still in dev? or not?
Because to be honest, this really sucks..I know this is not a gaming device, but it would be nice to have some cool game on it...something fullscreen and playable and amusing...
Sorry to post such a long sh*t but I am really sad and confused that I spent so much money on this baby and yet can't have a lot of fun with it.
And also some very useful application to fully customize the look of the today screen (I dont use TF3D) etc...something that is fullscreen on blackstone, is really awesome does cool things looks nice...and everything..I know it is easy to say and difficult to do...but I am not a programmer...I am a user...aaa...enough of ****chat
PS: please post only reasonable answers, if you have to say this has been posted dont do that just close the thread and delete it..I'd like some serious answers...thank you.
First of all, use the search function here on Blackstone forum.
There are whole threads dedicated to games available for Blackstone that work in full-screen and are very nice.
But, if you expect same amount of games for Touch HD like there is for iPhone, then you will be disappointed. Because indeed, Touch HD is not a gaming phone, but rather a business / multimedia / navigation phone.
As for the apps - there's a HUGE amount of applications available for Windows Mobile that work normally on Touch HD. There are many sites that provide freeware WinMo apps, and in fact you can find many cool apps right here on this forum. Again - search function, or simply browse Themes, Applications and Software forum. There are also a few very useful threads that have lists of most popular Touch HD applications, with descriptions.
The question is simply what kind of apps are you looking for?
You are the FingerKeyboard guy..hey there...
Yep, Finger Keeyboard 2 is one of the bestest apps I had and have on my phone...thank you for it...
about the search function - I am not retarded, I searched a lot and found a lots of useful stuff...
But as I have mentioned, as I am a new WinMo user I expected much more...
I dont know what more to say...
Glad you like the FingerKeyboard Seems a lot of people do!
As for the app quantity - there is really a lot of WinMo applications, since this system has been around for a very long time. Not all of them are usable on Touch HD, but many, many are.
I think you should simply say what kind of apps are you looking for (besides games) and I'm sure people will give you advices. If you need some inspiration, try:

Nearest Tube Augmented Reality App for iPhone 3GS

I found this on de.engadget.com:

This is ****ing awesome, isn't it? Is there anybody being able to write sth. like this for WinMo?
this proggie makes use of the compass, which is not on blackstone
therefore i guess the answer is no
Okay, but where's the problem with compass-function when having GPS?
gps uses actual movement in order to understand your direction, while with the compass it simply knows it, because, heck, it's a compass so getting such a program on a hd would mean relying on a gps which has a less accurate understanding of directions, which in the end would result in a crappy program working quite bad compared to this one
I didnt find it that great - the text kept jumping around and the person was still only moving it slowly. I think ill stick to google maps or a gps app for the time being.
Also, you forgot the delay of the showing video VS realtime(about 3 seconds!!!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2uH-jrsSxs&feature=related look at the children running..
imagine if you use it while driving...you''ll have to look at your rear view mirror to understand what the Iphone is showing
Yeah, okay, I understand your arguments! GPS does know the position but not the direction - this is quite clear... Moreover, GPS apps as TOMTOM are really great running on the HD!

Background trapping mouse events on WinMo.. posibble?

Hey developers,
Believe me, I tried searching quite a lot but couldn't find an answer, never tried this kind of developing ever.
Let's say that my point is to disable part of screen - eg below 400px will not work - my app will catch those mouse events and stop them.
I tried speaking with Chainfire on IRC but he went for gaming or so and he offered me injecting dll's. I'm not sure if that would be the best idea since I'd prefer to do it on background rather than loading it with all apps.
I was thinking another few minutes and how about loading it as driver or some kind of touchscreen filter and running inside device.exe or any other kernel process (or just as background process, doesn't matter those few kB in memory).
Thanks for any push in any way of doing this, believe me, you won't regret the result . OndraSter
Not sure this is possible with the Win32 HWnd stuff, you can catch and handle Window Messages only within the Window said messages are posted to. Never seen a way to do it system wide. Would probably involve replacing some fairly fundamental components. Same sort of thing we are looking at to get multi-touch working correctly on the HD2.
I heard someone got it working with keyboard, but mouse not because of lack LL_MOUSE stuff etc
maybe develop a driver, like i.e. Touch response does.
Yep that was one of two things that came to my mind - driver or service...
But I have no idea where to start with it though...

App idea concept any feedback???

i had a brain blast today!!!! have no idea if it has been done or not but im sure you have all heard of the clapper yes???!!!!!
anybody see where i am going with this????
set the clap to launch a specific program.. or perform a specific task... then clap...
i have no prgramming knowledge.... anybody have an idea if this is even possible if so feel free to use the concept.... think it would be a simple yet easy app to create with a high chance of usabilty and popularity...
dubbing it...... "ClapTasker" "TaskClapper" "clap to launch" "clap launcher" or anything like that...
Of course it's possible, but these kind of apps drain battery and tend to be inaccurate. If you want, there are several programs for voice command that do much more than just launching apps, and you could probably customize them to respond to clapping.

[Q] Always online gaming

I couldn't think of a better place to ask this, and seeing as I can't find anything on the Internet, I will try here. As most of you probably know, some games require a user to be online at all times. Seeing as I don't have 3G, and only use Wi-Fi, this can present a bit of a problem when I want to play games offline (such as Dark Knight Rises or The Amazing Spider-Man). I've resorted to keeping an eye out for offline APK's, but the trouble is too much. I would GLADLY buy the game if there was a way I could play these games offline. My question, is if there is some kind of app that tricks your phone into thinking it's online? That way the game I wish to play could do it's 'update check', and simply bypass it, so I can play the game. I haven't heard of anything like this before, that's why I figured I'd ask here. Or possibly if there is a way to patch an APK file so you can play it offline, would be beneficial as well. Any answers would be much appreciated!
