MyTouch 3G Default Ringtones - myTouch 3G, Magic Themes and Wallpapers

I found the default ringtones for the HTC Magic but it doesn't include the same ones that are on the US MyTouch 3G. Anyone have any idea where I can get them?

I'd like to know this as well. Before I flashed my ROM, I hadn't realized the I'd lose my ringtones, and actually quite liked the default ones, I'd appreciate if I could have them back ^_^

isn't what you are looking for?

Appreciate the reply, but unfortunately, no. It seems Tmobile places its own ringtones instead of the HTC ones. From youtube videos I've seen, it seems that the G1 has the same exact ringtones I'm looking for, so if anyone knows where I can get the default Tmobile G1 ringtones, I would be quite happy =P

I did some searching and I think i got all the ringtones for the Magic MyTouch and G1
here they are

adb push alarms /system/media/audio/alarms/
adb push ringtones /system/media/audio/rigntones/
adb reboot
what am i doing wrong?

Before i flashed my phone i had a notification sound called tweet. Its gone and i cant find it in the packages posted. Hope that maybe someone can extract it from a phone and post it here?

Ringtone Question

I have a Dash with the rickywatt's Rom on it and I want to do something, but I'm not sure how. What I want to do is be able to use .mp3 files for things like text message alerts, alarms, etc. Is this possible?
Additionally, is there any possible way to assign specific ringtones to people? I loved that feature in my older phones, but I can't seem to find it on the HTC Excalibur.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

just download a rom with the htcalbum.apk that you want to use, and push it to /system/app using adb
You know what, as much as I really & truly appreciate your quick reply AndroHero, you know when the teacher speaks to Charlie Brown in the cartoons, that's how I heard your advice . I am to software what Boy George is to cage fighting I'm afraid & am also a Liverpool supporter so you can see how "lucky" I am too. I daren't "root" or push via adb" or whatever you genius' do to enhance your Desire experience for fear of busting my beloved phone. Is there a simple way to do what it is you suggest? Thank you again for taking the time to look in, reply & try to help...

without root you have no write access to /system/ so you couldnt of deleted it you also cant push a simlar .apk back, are you sure there isnt an app called "gallery" in your app draw? the best i could suggest is to do a hard reset, your phone should be like it was when you bought it
LoL... well it blimmin well is! I'm sure it used to be called pictures I spent ages looking around the "P" bit on the app drawer & no wonder I couldn't find it! It is there under "gallery". This will be one of the first things for us to hack I'm afraid. OEMs can add ringtones but I don't think you can download them or otherwise add anything that didn't come with your phone... yet. I have to assume that they'll enable this in the Zune client before too long though.
Was thinking this myself. Have all my own ring tones and those specific to contacts. I'll want to be able to continue to use these

Yeah, OP, I wouldn't worry about it. Hell, I'm still using an old ass FF7 Jenova battle theme for my ring tone, lol! Lemme see if I can find the song..

You can get new ringtones, but you have to get them off the marketplace
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/start/ringtones-and-sounds.aspx
As far as I know they are just MP3s stored in a specific location, so once a file explorer or a way of accessing this on your computer is hacked, then it will be possible.
I hope someone figures this out soon. I've been using the same ringtones for 7 or 8 years. I'd even pay for them if anyone sold them in except that I know that they are so quirky (and I guess dated) no one would think of creating or selling the ones I have. I'd even buy an app that let me import them.
so wait theres no way of HTC puttin out a MP3 trimmer and using our own mp3's as ringtones? wtf

Get Rid of Unread Message Sound?

Ok... I have been searching for an answer and I cannot find this anywhere.
If I have an unread text message, when I reboot my phone I get this annoying "song" letting me know I have an unread text message. It does not stop until I unlock the phone and at least pull down the notification bar.
I think it is some version of the "over the horizon" jingle.. I have searched in the system/media folder to see if it is located there in order to delete it, however the only one that sounded similar was the acoustic "over the horizion" .ogg - but renaming that with .bak at the end did not rectify the problem.
Does anyone know where the system is pulling this sound from? I want to replace it with something a little more.. mature. Or get rid of it all together.
Any help is appreciated. If you don't know what I am talking about, please leave the thread for more experienced users to reply instead of cluttering it with questions.

It's not going to be easy to help you without asking a question, but I'll try.
Check the Notifications folder on intsd for the sound file. If not there, you can search for audio files with any file explorer to find it. But the folder you checked and the one I listed are going to be the most common places for notifications.
Stop using stock Samsung messaging app because it's garbage. In any case, you've overlooked a setting (in messenger app), probably.
I have already run a search using root explorer that covered the entire system, and did not find any .ogg or .wav sound files I had not already checked.
It's not a setting in the stock messaging app (which, btw, works perfectly for me and definitely better than any 3rd party messaging app IMO)
There's nothing in the internal SD card notification folder except for the facebook pop sound. Only a beginner would not have checked that.
This is why I said let more experienced users answer, preferable Devs who understand the architecture of the stock GS3 system folders.
The further I look into this issue, the more I am beginning to think it's a T-Mobile function that cannot be disabled in the stock ROM without modifying the ROM itself. I have found threads in other forums where it's even an issue in T-Mobile Windows phones.
I do however remember there was a way to disable it on one of my old phones.. either the MyTouch 4G or the SGS2.. but I cannot find the xda thread from way back then.
My search continues.. I will post any information I find out.
Update: Checked the build.prop file and I can see where the default "alarm_alert=Walk_in_the_forest.ogg" is called out, however I do not think this is the cause as that .ogg file does not sound like the alert I am hearing. I believe the line of code I am looking at only dictates the default alarm sound. Continuing to troubleshoot..

[Q] Sprint Epic 4g

I was finally able to find something that would root my Epic 4g (not touch) . Its called vroot. Im looking for a couple of apps and have been searching for awhile, maybe there arent any but..... 1 is for screenshots. I was never able to do that. The 2nd is a texting app that will tell me when my text was read, but something the other person doesnt to download. I know its sounds weird to want to know if your text was read......but when you have a teenager who always uses the line.... I didnt see your text.....
anyway.....does anyone know of any apps that would help me?
also.....im new to this rooting. Is there anything else I need to do? I used a one click method.
Thank you for any help.
P.S. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Again I'm new at this and I find it very confusing...lol

In Cyanogenmod v10.1 in the stock Messaging app there is a setting "Request a read report for each message you send". I've never used it and have no idea how it works but I thought I would mention it.

Oops.. I just noticed that this "request read report for each message you send" applies only to MMS messages. Not SMS.
So if you're still looking for this feature then you'll want to find an SMS/MMS app that will do this for MMS messages because it probably can't be done for SMS.
In order to ensure the text is sent as MMS you would have to send an attachment. MMS also require a solid data connection.
