I've finally taken the plunge and moved to a different OS (android) after being a supporter of Windows mobile for so long. So a lot of comparison going on at the moment
Anyway, one application I really liked in WinMo was the phone alarm which could change profies, notification settings, connectivity etc. This could also be scheduled. Is there something similar I can have for the desire? I couldn't seem to find such a setting on the desire.
Also, is it possible to activate the screen saver when it times out? Currently I get a black screen, but would be cool to get a clock or something, especially while I'm at work. I see there is an app called 'Desk clock' and I quite like the look of that but I haven't figured out how to actiavate it on screen timeout (like a screensaver)
Finally, has anyone used a docking station with the desire yet? I've seen a few here but not sure if they are any good
phoneAlarm replacement
I too was an avid pA user on WinMo and I haven't [as yet] found a direct replacement. I am using an App called 'Auto Task' which does some of pA's features (http://android.a0soft.com). Still looking for a good location based switching app though.
Try locale for all your needs. It does location based everything and has various plugins you can add too.
I have it turn on desktop when docked, switch off sounds and vibrate mode when entering work, switch off all sounds at night, auto sync when connected to wifi, and enable bluetooth when driving Excellent app.
Settings Profiles - is worth a look too
Hi.
You might also want to try Settings Profiles it similar to Locale and the WinMo app phoneAlarm.
I've used both (actually I've tried all 3) and I've settled for the time being on Settings Profiles.
It's available in the Marketplace.

+1 This is a brilliant app. I recently converted from winmo too.

Thanks guys, I've downloaded the lite version of Setting Profiles and it seems very good so far. Lots of customizations possible. I might purchase the full version if the lite version works well.
The only concern I had is that some of the reviews imply that it works fine for sometime and then it is not very reliable. Did any of you have similar experiences?
I have the Full vesion. IMO well worth the (small amount of) money. I have had no problems with reliability with the HTC Desire
Profile Switching etc
I have been testing a new app called "Tasker" which has an astounding array of features for controlling the phone. It is currently in beta test but I have not had any issues with it.
Checkout the web page at "tasker.dinglisch.net"
It is due to be released to market shortly and will cost around $6, (if you buy it direct via paypal it will be $1 less) which is cheaper than "Locale" and from what I have seen much more powerful.
I recommend reading the online guide to get a handle on how to use it, I think I am only scratching the surface at the moment but for me I am definately going to buy it once it is released...
I wanted to create a change log for the latest OTA update 2.10.405.2. So here it is. Just bare in mind that this is not official change log, but just bits and pieces I found in the forum.
Changelog:
1. New battery algorithm. No more drops from full charged during charging to 90-91% after unplugged. (maybe calibrating of the battery, because different people sees different results - ohyeahar, herezor, chichoko)
2. New version of Google Maps 4.4.0
3. New app Places (it existed before if you had Google Maps updated to version 4.4 via Market - FreudsCAT)
4. New microphone button in the keyboard (only in english keyboard). To fix the issue with the low resolution of the button, just remove all languages except English and the button will have the same quality as the other ones (EddyOS)
5. No vibrate on shutdown
6. Save attachments from GMail app (Only Word and Excel. No support for zip or pdf)
7. New version of Quickoffice 3.2.60 (FreudsCAT)
8. Peep 2.0 fixed authentication with twitter (FreudsCAT)
9. Better video quality while capturing video (hamdir, aindow)
10. New/improved notifications of unsent messages, tweets, Facebook alerts, etc. (aindow, andQlimax)
11. Flash Player v 10.1.92.10 can be downloaded from the market. (hija31 vs. people are reporting that it was in the market before - Lothaen)
12. The image blur bug in the gallery is gone. (hamdir vs. fblasot)
Not confirmed, but people reporting those:
101. Better sound quality while shooting video.
Please feel free to comment those changes and add new ones.

I'm not 100% sure but I had to install "Maps [brut]" to have "Places [brut]" on my list. As far as I remember I did not had "Places". But maybe I'm wrong. Can somebody else comment on this.

"Places" was definitely there before.
Btw, I'm not sure how anyone can be sure there's a new battery algorithm. It can just be an issue with your battery calibration.

You are correct about the "new battery algorithm". I've seen threads with a lot of people having the same issue as me, but in the same time other people didn't have it.
It appears when I had OTA update 1.15.405.4. Before that I had very accurate battery percentage. The issues stayed after the Froyo update. But now with this OTA it's gone.
- I didn' had "Places" before (Desire - Unbranded - Unrooted, official HTC 2.2 rom - updated OTA with latest "patch")
- After yesterday update, this morning i had the battery drop from 100% to aprox 90%, so the new algorithm it's not there (from the update - 2.2 OTA till yesterday the battery slowly recalibrate itself and last 2 weeks i had no quick drops in btry. percentage )
- i don't know about "News and weather" if it is new or not because i didn't saw it before ......

- places - as far as I remember I did not had it too. But as you can see other people are saying it was there.
- about battery algorithm - so the issue with drops is still there.
- "News and weather" widget is an Android widget (not HTC) which was there before this update.
As HTC says about the update:
1.Android OS update patch
2.Enhanced multi inbox Gmail support
3.Improved Russia keyboard layout
also
- new version Quickoffice 3.2.60 - HTC
- peep 2.0 fixed authentication with twitter
Places was there on my SIM-free Desire running 2.09.405.8 RUU (I never do OTA updates) - I'm guessing other people never noticed it

About the official changes - I think is better to list the exact changes, not general ones like "Android OS update patch", because they are kinda misleading.

I can confirm improvements in my Desire´s battery (recalibrated itself as well), as this morning from 7:00 until 12:30 it dropped 2 % only (under normal load)... I also noticed a drastic reduction in the temperature of the battery (before, it was 34ºC with system on and Wi-Fi enabled, and now 26.2ºC in same conditions). I use Battery Left widget from Android Market to measure this.
So, seeing that more and more people are finding their Desi´s battery lasts longer, I assume that one of the main changes in this update is the new energy management algorithm, not included in initial Froyo release and so much expected...

Great idea for a thread! I always like to read these "changelog threads" before update since I had a few bad experiences when being impatient
Can someone with installed update confirm if some of these bugs / glitches that existed on first official 2.2 OTA update:
- Missing right border for dialer buttons (see attachment)
- Privacy missing in settings (I know that you can find it via search but can it now be seen "normally"?)
- Problem with Sense widgets and transferring apps to SD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744581)
Fix for this last issue is extremely important to me so if you do not want to read the entire thread for the link above here is summary:
I conducted these tests on two different Desires using three different applications downloaded directly from Market, that natively support moving to SD card. Earlier I
Applications are (but can be ANY other app that supports moving to SD card): Barcode Scanner (ZXing team, version 3.4), Rock Player (Holly Lee, version 1.0.31), Slide Puzzle (SporkSoft, version 1.6.7)
1) As soon as I move any of these apps to SD card, widgets on home screens reload data (like after system boot). During this "reload" weather widget stays blank as shown in picture I am sending you: "blank_wether_widget.jpg"
2) The same thing happens with widgets when I connect the phone to PC via USB in DISK DRIVE mode
3) The same thing also happens when I disconnect a phone from PC (if it was connected in DISK DRIVE mode).
5) HARD RESET doesn't help, regarding this issue!
Hey, what happened??
Two days ago I checked manually for the update and I found it but I did not install it because it was not clear about rooting procedure for new boot loader.
Now I would like to upgrade but if I check manually it tells me no update available and the software version is still the old one!!
Any idea??
I didn't have "places" on previous Froyo OTA now i do.
i shot and played back a 720p video, seems smoother then before. I found a hint about a change in video playback, i had videos on my SD made to play on ps3 H264 encoded at 15MB bitrate, used to play normal but stutter bad now after the OTA they show black or artifacts at playback.
the image blur bug in the gallery is gone, it used to happen when u rotate the screen, sharpness was lost. However weird random thumbnails artifacts bug is still there.
new speaker icon on keyboard is blurred doesn't look screen native.
mnaeh all the bugs u mentioned are still there even the privacy menu still missing.
i appreciate updating peep, maps and quickoffice and certainly love the new speaker button. but not updating flash in this OTA is kinda of stupid.
I love HTC and my desire much more then my old iphone, but damn these tiny yet persistent bugs makes their products feel unpolished. I wish HTC stops releasing hundreds of different branded and network exclusives and instead focus on polishing their awesome products. example the stupid unable to edit notes widget.

Hi everyone.
I´m comming from a HTC HD2 with "Energy Rom" (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5), now i got my HTC One X for six days (and yesterday rooting and changing to Rom "Android Revolution HD 5.2.0").
After last six days of testing, it is still an amazing device, but there are lots of bad things that have to be said about the HOX:
1) --> The HOX is not smooth!
The HOX has the most powerful CPU on earth, but still it is not able to run realy smoot. Compared to the iPhone, the home screen doesn't rotate realy smoot, the app-drawer matrix doesn't scroll smooth, and worst of all the scrolling through Pictures lags.
2) --> The HOX is not that intuitive as it should be.
First example - the music player:
When you click on music-player, then first button "my phone" (in german "Eigenes Telefon"), you can click on top the pull-down-menu to change to "genres". Now you click on "Rap" and want to choose the Artist --> but there is no artist! Not even the artists name is mentioned. You only can choose the album-name.
When you pump up 20 Gbyte music, it is not realy possible to easily choose the song you whant to hear.
Second example - the ringtone:
Nomaly you choose the ringtone in "settings --> sound". But e.g. the sms tone must be changed in "sms --> menu --> settings --> notification --> notification ringtone".
Why so complicated?
3) --> The USB Connection to the internal storage is slow.
On my HTC HD2 i used a Class 10 SD-Card. Writing movies or navigation-maps on it, after taking the card out of the device, had a writing speed at about 10 MB/s.
When i read about the internal storage, i thought it is at least as fast as a good SD-Card. But when i connect my HOX via USB i get max. 5 - 6 MB/s.
4) --> The HTC car app does not launch with connecting a bluetooth-device.
With Sense 3.5 you can set the "old" HTC car app to launch when a bluetooth-device connects - this means: every bluetooth-device! So when starting the engine, my car-radio connects to the HTC, the old app starts immediatly.
The new HTC car app looks realy great, but it doesn't start when the radio connects.
And as if this were not enough: the new car app can not rotate to portrait-mode.
Why?
5) --> Lockscreen-Links can not be defined independently.
With Sense 3.5 the lockscreen-app-links can be set as you whant.
With Sense 4 the links can not been changed. They are the same as the links in the dock bar.
Why?
6) --> Homescreen can not rotate around.
I find it realy disturbing that the homescreen can not scroll over from far right to far left.
So guys, I hope you comment these things or give hints or tips.
Best regards,
Nem.
I agree with 1,3,5 and 6
Hopefully they all can be fixed with a software update

Depends on which ROM you're running I guess. The home screen doesn't rotate by default in sense so...
In the end I've never had a lagless computer, but the One X is snappy enough for me...

This is something I don't like either. Honestly, when I bought the phone a pulled a bone head move and hadn't realized there was no SD card... just before paying I realized, and figured I'd give it a go... consider the battery life and lack of micro SD AND USB OTG, I'm a bit miffed about my decision, but still happy enough to stick with it for a while. After all, the Galaxy S3 isn't out yet and ugly as hell.

This seems like an issue with HTC Sense, more than the One X. You might try some non stock apps... if you want a ready made package, you should probably just get an apple product... This is probable something which could be solved by reporting to the proper developers, or by getting the right apps installed on your device.

Realize, this isn't a support forum, but a hobbyist developer forum. If you want Support, go to the developer of the product you want. If you want help, this is the place.
As for the quick links, i believe they did what most people would do assume the "quick links" you have on your home screen and the ones your most likely to use.
also my phone has always been smooth as butter even on stock ROM.

1. Pretty smooth with me, and this will improve. It's a brand new phone, and htc's always seem to be like this early on.
2. For me it's logical. If I want to change my sms alert, I would go into sms settings. I don't really changed my alerts, but that's the way I'd do it.
With the music app, I use Google music which is easy for finding what you want to listen to. I usually use playlists, and I never use genres, as I listen to what I would class as hard rock. Depending on the band its genre could be classed as anything from rock to metal to punk to progressive rock to grunge to alt rock and another 10 or so permutations
3. Transfer could definitely be faster, but I don't do that much transfering so it's not a huge deal for me. I would transfer across the odd movie or rom, and it doesn't take long.
4. Don't use the car app.
5. I guess they just used the logic that the programs on your dock bar would be the ones you access most often. It makes sense to me, but it wouldn't be too much effort for them to give people the choice.
6. Homescreen rotates on custom ROM, guess it was only designed to be used when the phone is docked? If you mean the carousel effect, this was ditched for sense 4.0. Guess it's part of slimming sense down. As always, some people love it, others want it how it was.
You've got valid points, but some of them are just getting used the slightly different way of doing things.

The music problem is easy fixed by using Mixzing or PowerAMP.

This also applies to the Locations built in mapping software sadly (no portrait mode).
I'm guessing they are trying to push it along with their car dock as a 'package', which holds the phone in landscape mode, but I don't want to pay out on a dock that will likely not fit my next phone, even if it is an HTC. I have a perfectly good universal holder securely fitted in my van which will fit any phone I own thanks.
Not sure how many if any ever used the paid Locations App, but it is handy to have the maps on phone if you have no data connection.
Fortunately, CoPilot now offers a freemium option that lets you download the maps and only pay if you want turn by turn.
I think HTC has tried to simplify Sense because of previous criticisms from 'reviewers' and have probably gone too far the opposite way.
Several of the things like carousel, dock icons, etc. they could have made simple to start with, then added the option to tweak it in the settings. Maybe they will go back the other way in a later version, or modders on here will work out how to do it for them, as usual.
Although I've always used other launchers in the past, I quite like the Sense 4 launcher, mainly because of some of the widgets. However, I will NEVER understand why they went with a 4 x 4 grid on such a massive screen - its such a waste of space.
The only reasoning I can think is that they wanted it to be the same across the whole One series, including the One V, but that's really not a good enough reason to limit your flagship device HTC!

Mine is and I have 80 some apps loaded on it. The only stutter I've noticed is in the secondary weather animations. Read this. It's a Google engineer explaining how Android renders graphics. Power can't overcome some of the limitations she describes. The answer to an iPhone comparison can only be "perhaps you should have gotten an iPhone?" The One X is smoother than any of the six modern (as opposed to a hacked three year old Windows phone running Android) phones I’ve owned in the past two years.

This is my first time using Sense since it was called Manila. I've used Samsung devices prior to the One X. I find the work HTC's done in Sense 4.0 to be pretty amazing. Like rejecting a call with a message automatically adds a task to return the call to your calendar so it’s available at your desk. To me, it's probably the most intuitive and well thought out interface available on an Android phone. Again, if you want intuitive, get an iPhone. Samsung and Motorola's devices are less, not more intuitive.

Nice to have but something "that needs to be said?"
6) --> Homescreen can not rotate around.

No, it doesn't. But when docked a cleaner easier to use replacement's provided.
So far these are the things that I've found that I'd like changed and I think they'd impact more people and are more material than the home screen not rotating.
1) No ICS Native Voice Dialer - HTC left it out and all the ICS compatible APK's I’ve found crash. Vlingo is the only way to initiate voice calls over BT and it's far from a clean solution.
2) No LinkedIn Connector for Sense - It worked on earlier versions of Sense but not 4.0. It's a pretty big omission for people that use their phone for business.
3) No Resizing of HTML E-Mail - The stock mail app should be able to allow pinch-to-zoom to adjust the size of HTML e-mail. As it is, you have to scroll.
There’s a lot of niggly things that I’d prefer be implement differently but I’d never post them on a forum because what’s important to me may not be important to others. We each use our phones differently. One device, no matter who makes it, is going to please everyone equally.

Google maps also offers map cacheing, and the http://www.openstreetmap.org/ project has a number of compatible apps which allow offline maps - but the cache is the quality of the map depends on the mapping community in your area... they're usually not so bad
Thx 2 all!
Hi everybody,
thanks a lot to all of you for your postings.
I just wanted to start the discussion, because when you read tests or comments about the HOX, then you most read something about the "first impressions". Magazines, blogs etc. often compare the HOX with the most popular smartphone: the iPhone. Then you may also read something about "THE IPHONE KILLER". I hate phrases like this! Why do I have to kill something that is behind me ?
I just wanted to say, that even the HOX has potential to get better - and thats why I installed the ARHD-ROM
I just wanted to post my opinion to the HOX as objectively as i can be. Don´t missundersand me: for me, today the HOX is the best phone on earth. Never wanted to have an iPhone. I just waited for the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and on the same Day I decided to buy the HOX.
1- The famous problem with Rosie.apk and the layered widgets, the OnDemand governor of the one X doesn't Ramp CPUs speed to full unless pushed hard and so in the launcher the CPUs are not to blame, neither the GPU since its linked to CPU clocks, the launcher is simply running at low clocks plus heavy layering in the widgets and hence the stutter, solution to this is actually optimizing the sense launcher and this is where ultra rosie mod fixes it
Topic on the issue, please vote since im already in contact with HTC:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649819
6- well its a Sense 4 simplification decision and i quit like it, you either get scrolling wallpaper or frozen wallpaper plus loop, both are actually easy control if you hack rosie.apk

Doing that though, you loose the usage of Sense widgets?
The whole point of having a htc phone is to enjoy using htc widgets, isn't?
By no means am I taking credit for this. I have copied this over from the 9505 with permission from IRONMAN link to original thread
I will be maintaining this thread over here.....
As said per IRONMAN:
Hello, everyone. I have decided to make this Recommend-An-App thread so that YOU can share your favorite apps with everyone in this community.
****BUT THERE IS ONE CONDITION NO SUPER POPULAR APPS****
Don't post apps like PowerAMP and Flipboard and Swiftkey. EVERYONE knows about these apps.
The purpose of this thread is to make everyone aware of new apps which are largely unheard of. Apps which are not so popular. I was too tired of seeing numerous lists full of apps I already knew about.
So everyone, start posting! A brief summary would be appreciated (Unless the name is self-explanatory) as well as a PlayStore link (we all are too lazy to search for ourselves)
I will try to keep this list as up-to-date as possible.
1) Atom Launcher- A great launcher with many options for customization while maintaining a minimalistic look. I personally recommend Typo Black Theme to go along with it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5kbHRvLmF0b20ubGF1bmNoZXIiXQ..
Typo Black Theme- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...oZXJleC50aGVtZS5OYW11U01vZGVyblR5cG9CbGFjayJd
2) WordWeb - In my opinion, THE best dictionary out there. Why? Because its offline. Doesn't require an internet connection!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...53b3Jkd2Vic29mdHdhcmUuYW5kcm9pZC53b3Jkd2ViIl0.
3) Wallbase - I've tried 'em all and nothing has helped me find better wallpapers than this app. And most of them are full HD.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jaXRjLndhbGxiYXNlIl0.
4) LyricsPlayer - This app shows a notification on the status bar when you're playing music, clicking on it automatically searches for the lyrics and displays them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5saW5rLmFuZHJvaWQubHlyaWNzcGxheWVyIl0.
5) Holo Compass - The most minimalistic and cool looking compass around.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsInBsLnN1cml4LmhvbG8uY29tcGFzcyJd
6) Circle Alarm - A holo themed and minimalistic alarm app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50amVhbm5pbi5hbGFybSJd
7) Node- Just a super cool live wallpaper

http://forum.xda-developers.com/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=42539176
12) Phone Addict - This great little app counts how many times I check my phone. Over a period of time, shows the day I checked my phone the most times, the least times, and how often I check on average.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5wYW5kdXRlY2hub2xvZ3kucGhvbmVhZGRpY3RmcmVlIl0.
13) Llama - For me this app is a MUST HAVE. I'll explain how it works. Basically, when you're at home or at work, your phone is getting signal from multiple cellphone towers nearby. What this app does is remember these towers and triggers certain profiles when they are in the vicinity. So, when I reach home, my phone automatically turns silent and when none of these towers are in range i.e. when I'm outside, it automatically increases the ring volume. You'll have to let it scan once, of course.

16) Sensor Music Player - A music player which lets you use various sensors to change track, pause etc. For example, if I'm using my headphones and my phone is in my pocket, I can just tap my pocket to change the track. Pretty cool. eh?

Full Screen Caller ID - It delivers just what it sounds like it's promising. It puts a full screen HD picture as the call screen instead of the stock Android one. There are 5 or 6 other apps that do the same thing but I've been using this one since I had a MyTouch3G when it was the only one of it's kind available and I couldn't live without it now. It's very customizable so you can make the screen look pretty much anyway you want for an incoming call and set whatever picture you want for each person in your address book. It also makes answerign and ignoring easy as you can swipe across any part of the screen. See the atatchement for what one of my friend looks like on an incoming call...you can add the phone number, make it landscape, change the font or text size, add answer and reject buttons or take them away as I have etc etc etc. And you can get to the original phone app with the dial pad and what not with a simple double tap on the screen.
I've never been able to figure out why this isn't stock with Android personally. That's how much I love this app.

Persist - This app can lock various volumes into certain levels. For example I never use a ringtone. Ever. I use vibrate as my ringer 100% of the time. But if the phone moves in my pocket the volume keys can get hit and change the volume level to either silent (no vibration) or loud (probalem in my office environment). This app lets you lock the ringer, or any other volume, in a specific spot.

Full Screen Caller ID - It delivers just what it sounds like it's promising. It puts a full screen HD picture as the call screen instead of the stock Android one. Hi,
Today I've received my HTC 10 and I'm trying to get the 'nearest Nexus experience'. There was no problems with either Now Launcher or Keyboad, but I have some problems with Dialer. The app itself was installed from Play Store (com.google.android.dialer), so no sideloading was necessary. The installed version is 2.05.07_rc4. I've given it all permissions (with settings ones), change default dialer and everything is working except ringing and loudspeaker. I can dial a number, answer a call, talk. There are all notifications.
I've tried sideloading different versions form apkmirror. 2.3.17 fails to install (no necessary libraries), 3.00.04_rc4 installs but crashes. I've also sideloaded Contacts - no problems there.
Can someone had similar problems? Maybe on different phone?
Thanks for any help.
Karol
That's weird. When I go to the Play Store, it tells me the Google Dialer is not compatible with my HTC 10. Also, the version on the store is 2.3.17, how come you have 2.05.07_rc4 ? Which country are you in? (I'm in the US) Why is it a release candidate (I assume the rc part at the end is for that)?
I've tried installing from apkmirror (2.3.17 and 3.00.04_rc4) and the same happens to me; first one doesn't want to install and the latter crashes.
I'm trying as well to make my 10 resemble my former Nexus, so if anyone knows how to make this Google Dialer app work, please, post it here.
Thanks!
I had the same problem. Not sure which version. I ended up going back to the horrible HTC dialler
I also had a problem with the alarm in the google clock app. The alarm tone I selected always seemed to be the default rather than the custom selected one.
I don't know what HTC have done with their firmware. It's been a pretty good experience other than those issues though.

Give the google clock permissions for disk access and it will then be able to use custom "ringtones". This is a common Marshmallow issue. Try giving the google dialer full permissions and see if that fixes your other issues.

I'm in Poland. And yes, Google Play installs 2.05.07_rc4. It's also available from ApkMirror (apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-phone/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-release/google-phone-2-05-07_rc4-android-apk-download)
As for the phone - I gave up. It's already sold. All reviewers almost promised the Nexus experience, but it's far from it. It's not like Moto phones, where they take stock Android and add some of their features. It's all rebuild. The quick settings look similar yet different. The same thing is with the settings. Some (Many?) dialogs have Sense not Material look. The typography is wrong. It still is Roboto, but the weights are used differently.
Stock Android is beautiful. Everything is in place, everything works as expected. Sense (8 is it?) look like HTC tried to rebuild/upgrade previous version to look Material. They failed. I'm back to my old Nexus 5.
Ps. One hint about the dialer. When you place a call, two icons appear in the notification bar. One from Google Dialer, one from HTC Dialer. So the built in one is still active, also you can't disable the Contacts/Dialer app. Maybe it's HTC bug and should by reported?
Karol
Sounds weird.
I couldn't install the contacts or dialer through google play, but sideloaded the apks and no problem once I gave the permissions.
The phone rings and loudspeaker is functional.
No issues or bugs so far.
Edit: The HTC dialer does show in the notification, and in the default app I selected the google dialer.
The phone doesn't ring either but I do have loudspeaker during a call.
For me the only part I care about is the dialer. I have the dialer installed and when I call it launches HTC phone app. I get the nice features of search but no bugs. So far it has worked nicely

I got that setup to work like that as well, but I don't like the htc phone app taking over the call. I have Google voice + carrier number on the same phone and the Google phone app lets me know if I'm dialing with Google voice or with my carrier number.

Our only hope is Roms or maybe a HTC Google phone like the m7, that would be so awesome.

Why did HTC feel the need to restrict the access to the phone's dialing functions? (rethorical question)

I've enabled permissions for both phone and storage and it still doesn't seem to allow me to change my alarm to a custom ringtone.

Google just updated the stock dialer, it is now compatible with the HTC 10. Any luck?
I tried this earlier today and the new RC9 won't even install for me. No errors, just a failed message after a brief wait. I tried uninstalling the RC8 first but no change.

I got the same thing on other apps. You have to go into permissions to allow it to modify system settings. I don't remember exactly where it is but since the app never rings I uninstalled it.

Looks like there is an easy fix for this now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66873075&postcount=39
keep in mind it breaks Wi-Fi calling settings ( although Wi-Fi calling still works)

Right... and the OP already had it and was modding to get it to work. Not sure how this is relevant. But yes, of course replacing any system files like the HTC dialer will require root...

After I installed the dialer.zip, I installed True Phone Dialer & Contacts from
Hamster Beat. And set it to my default dialer and is well.
Thanks
