Are there any other browsers beside P.I.E. and Opera mini out there? I hate these 2 browsers! Please, any help would be appreciated.
Netfront, Opera for PPC (not mini) for example
Netfront is decent
you could get P.I. plus(an add-on for P.I.E), but it costs after 14 days
I've attached cab's of both
i found nokia's browser (optimized opera) on my e61 (same as n95, n93 etc.) the best, especially its minimap...alas it works only on symbian based phones
netfront
netfront....
link in rapidshare
(couldn't attach for some reason)

Minimo
Try Minimo. It can be a tad slow to open tabs, but it renders far quicker than PIE. FYI, Minimo is a port of Mozilla Firefox for WM5/6. Strangely, I haven't seen it mentioned here before.

Thanks that minimo browser is what i was looking for a java enabled browser the interface is kind of funny though but im trying to understand it.
I was about to post a similar message today. I just upgraded to the Vp3G WM6 Rom and finding that Opera mini doesn't work as well as it did on WM5 (I've tried both the 3.1 and beta 4 versions and they both act buggy and slower).
I've never liked PIE and I even downloaded the beta version of their Deepfish browser which is slow and doesn't zoom well.
I've used Piscel browser, which is great for zooming but not really for browsing quickly, plus I'm getting the memory full error too often.
I have the Opera 6.5 full mobile browser, but it's slow too. The plus is that that one will let you download stuff (such as megaupload files, etc)
I'll try the Mozilla one, but it doesn't seem too great.
The NetFront one is slow too and zooming isn't very user friendly.
I guess I'll have to wait til Opera gets their act together on the real release of the next mini, unless there's something else out there. Opera mini, IMO, is hands down has been the best mobile browser out there so far, but I wish it wasn't so buggy running on WM6.
Does anyone know of a web browser for the Cingular 8525/Hermes 100 which is similar to Picsel Browser or the iPhone browser? I found a copy of Picsel Browser but it does not run well on my device considering its made for a Samsung device. Thanks in advance.
it should not be a problem
all wm devices out now use
arm based cpu's
there are many makers who make arm based cpu's
all should be compatible
you can give opera mobiel 9.33 browser a go many people like that one
browse the development page. there you can find what youre looking for
Netfront 3.5
Try the Netfront browser, concept version 3.5. It looks pretty smooth, and has some neat features.
Opera mini rocks too. Visit http://operamini.com on your hermes.
Netfront
Sorry, meant to post a link to Netfront:

On the internet tab, how do you change the default browser that launches when you click on the globe icon?
For some reason when I updated to Dutty's most recent ROM (full), on the internet tab, when I click on the globe it will hi-lite but nothing happens. Also, on the previous ROM i was using, even after installing Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta, when I click on the globe icon it launches the older version of Opera Mobile.
I would like to change the globe icon to launch Opera 9.5 Beta. Is there a how-to for this?
seriously...no one knows how to do this???
If you get WM6_PPC_HTC_Opera9_HKCSL_WWE_1660.CAB from Dutty's server in the "add-on cabs" section and install it, the link will be restored. Not sure if that is the version you are looking for. It is build 1660.
i ended up installing dutty's latest build (see sig) so the globe is working again.
i still want to know how one would change the browser that is launched by clicking on the globe... i'm sure it is possible!
Use this tool to change it (and other stuff). I use it so the 'globe' starts PIE as I don't fancy opera too much.

on the flipside I HATE internet explorer with a passion but cannot use dutty's rom because everything is set to I.e. and I could never seem to get it to change to stay as opera. the screen res, size and opera browser are what made me get the diamond so going back to pocket internet explorer is like stepping into the dark ages for me - just try loading a megaupload page on it for example.
does anyone know a surefire way to put weblink defaults etc back to opera with duttys rom?
The reason why it didn't work in Dutty's roms was because it wasn't installed...
I'm running the 1.4 version now and Opera is included in that one...
I'm using the NRG Rose ROM 1.6. Instead of using the option to install Opera via the option under My Tools\Extras I downloaded the 4.2 multisigned version from Opera's website. This permitted me the option to not have all the security warning show each time.
Now I'm wondering how I can make it the default browser? I tried using a cab file called "WM6 SD OperaDefault.cab" and "WM6 OeraMiniAsDefaultBrowser - WithoutSelectionDialog.cab", but they didn't seem to work, perhaps because they were designed to work with an earlier version of Opera.
Are there any other solutions? Perhaps a registry tweak that I could do manually or something like that?
Thank you,
Tim

how did you get the signed version , cause I've tried multiple times, 4.1 and 4.2 , from my desktop to my phone , and straight into my phone from their site. I keep getting an unsigned version.

I installed the JZSmartmort file and it successfully set Opera mini as the default when I click on links in my email, but.... it doesn't seem to be able to successfully put in the URL once it launches opera mini.
It launches opera mini, then it goes into where it should put the URL in, backspaces out the default www. that opera puts in. Then it fails to paste in the URL that I clicked on. It then returns to the Opera Mini screen and ends after clicking on the opera menu button. Any ideas?
Thank you,
Tim

Did you try the link i placed as it should work you will have to ammened the .mscr's as mentioned later on in the thread, i haven't tryed it but know others have

Hi,
I tried the JZSmartmort opera launcher and the StartOperaMini: Mortscript by Badbob001. I haven't successfully gotten it to launch links from email or internet shortcuts into Opera Mini 4.2.
In one discussion point, sagementor states:

But I haven't seen any sort of file that references those names. And in the startoperamini.mscr there is no reference to a version, just 4.x .
So at the moment, if I want to launch a link in a received email or associate a sliding panel shortcut with a URL, I have to use slow ol' PIE .
But on a different note, I love the Spb Backup software. I can now play around with this stuff and restore it to it's 'before' state if it really messes things up. I've already restored several times today.
Thank you,
Tim

I've searched but only to find dead links.
Could any hook me up with the latest build of Opera 9.5 which will work on the HD?
Thanks!
Same thing for me
I posted on the opera thread, to ask what was the lastest opera cab, stable for the HD... but the answers were not precise and i don't know which cab i can really and safely use... because i asked for a cab that can be deinstalled, in case of bugs....
Hope you will have more chance
Ciao
Fred
MOD EDIT
Move to Themes, Applications and Software forum
try a cooked ROM. those usually have the latest builds of such things. opera mobile 9.7 beta might be worth a shot.
btw, what version/build are you currently running? (go to help - about)
I'm actually running Opera Mobile 9.7 beta. The ROM that I'm using doesn't come with Opera, so this is all I was able to get that was actually halfway decent from Opera's own site...Looking to see if someone has a solid 9.5 build.
I've used many on my Xperia, etc. that were pretty good but I no longer have the CABs on me...
hope someone can help with this.
