THIS IS MY FIRST THREAD SO GO EASY ON ME!
as promised in the development thread here is the modified launcher that looks almost identical to Rosie from Ted's cyanogen hero theme (THANKS TED!). Rename to .apk and push to system/sd/app_s
adb remount
adb push /"your path"/Launcher.apk /system/sd/app_s
adb shell reboot (dont think this step is necessary but it cant hurt)
Dialer:
Anybody with the photoshop skills to skin the phone.apk and contacts.apk? Using the ophone dialer hero mock up im sure we could just switch the blue black and pressed blue color green i just dont have the artistic skill to do it.
Lockscreen:
Anybody know the correct dimensions to edit the lockscreen provided by johnnylicious so it works in landscape mode? i attempted to but it didnt come out right at all.

yes landscape lockscreen located system/etc/lockscreen/port & land
Png's are located in the framework/com.htc.resource.apk/res/drawable-land 480x320 & drawable-port 490x320
topedge is located in lockscreen.apk/res/drawable-land 480x320 & drawable-port 490x320
to edit dialer you will need to edit htccontacts.apk and phone.apk

the images in landscape should be 480x50
but what I did was just take all the images from port and thru them in land so saved me some time!
BTW not a legend just a HERO!
EDIT: also can you sign .9.png's??

nope. im using a mac. all i do after i mod the files is place it back in my phone and zip it using astro...then change the extension to apk and push. this landscape lockscreen REFUSES to cooperate though. Im not sure what the issue is. I think because it adjusts the image dimensions automatically everything is out of whack. Is there something i can do?
Is this project a theme or rom, cuz it. Looks a lot like teds theme

This is Great!, Keep up the awesome work!
I've pushed the renamed Launcher.apk to the right place.. but how do I actually install/apply the skin..?

Hey there guys.
Just a quick one.
I have seen a couple of screen shots around (although can't remember where now) of a slightly differend clock widget background containing a little android Droid.
Anyone know how this is done? Maybe through applying a theme?
I have root and JF1.3 RC8 etc etc so not probs there.
Thanks
Phil
usually it's done through a theme, but you can actually just take the clock icon out of someones theme that has it, it's in the drawable folder of launcher.apk.
If you pull your launcher.apk file just copy the clock you want to the drawable folder on it and push launcher.apk back to your phone.
Cool.
Where is the launcher.apk?
Sorry... just starting with this phone and not totally fond my way round its files etc yet.
Thanks
it'll be under apps in any theme update file....
check out my theme... it has a ubuntu feel, with old themed clock like ubuntu's wallpaper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469710
also changed fonts, and boot screen
Sorry. I meant where on the phone is the file (where would I copy from/to in order to put the custom clock image into the launcher.apk file.
Like that theme but don't really fancy any themes at all and just want the clock on its own really.
Thanks
Phil
You would have to edit the launcher.apk like they said then push it by its self to your G1 then you will have the clock and the rest of your theme will stay the same.
What they are leaving is that you must open the firmware package of your choice and edit the launcher.apk from the correct sub-folder. To be honest if you're not well adjusted to hacking up a firmware I wouldn't just start experimenting without proper guidence and reading of the available documentation on this platform. If you go about it half assed that's what you're gonna get.

Awesome man. Maybe if you could get the launcher bar for the app part? And the text on the apps, the white does not blend well with the grey.
Great work though, I miss my g1 so much already
wow, that app bar is great !!!!
BTW, the white letters doesnt seem to go well xD .

Not quite so easy, make sure you get the right services.jar (from a theme that is currently compatible with the 3.6.5 builds). The services.jar have changed to include the reboot on press.power and pull down the status_bar while having the lock screen.
My theme has a good services.jar, and if you want to change additional text: search for edit + xml. ; )
Nice start. Def gonna keep my eye on this one. I like the tray and some of those icons.
Rly good job, hope to see some final job of this if someone can port SMS Widget and Dialer too ( Music and Keyboard are already ported ) Cyanogen Mod and if this theme will be finished im gonna go back to 1.5 from Sense UI .
I posted the following in the "Helpful Thread - Read before clicking new thread" sticky the other day but apparently, I'm the only one who reads stickies on xda. Maybe someone in here can answer my question and I apologize if I offend anyone by posting this in the wrong thread...
*I got a question about installing themes. What is the proper procedure of installing a new theme after you've already installed a theme? The reason I'm asking is because (first of all I'm running Cyanogen's v3.6.5) I installed the HTC Hero v1.4.5 theme yesterday and everything went well. Then I wanted to see what the PrOdigal Sun theme (Orange Cyanogen_Mod V3.4.x, V3.5.x and V3.6.x version 2.8.) would look like so I just flashed the theme onto my phone (without wiping first-didn't think I had to or was supposed to) and I kept getting force closures after force closures. I then re-flashed the HTC Hero theme back onto my phone and everything seemed fine until I opened the drawer and saw that I had the icons of the PrOdigal Sun theme instead of the HTC Hero icons.
Long story short..I had to re-flash cyan's rom again the re-flash the HTC Hero theme. Didn't wanna try the PrOdigal Sun theme again because I wasnt sure if it was compatible with cyan's rom even tho it says it is. Thanks*
whens the eta for a beta version of this theme
i wanna try this out!

ahome is a homescreen replacement, instead of using the regular homescreen that comes stock with android.
he's making this theme thru "ahome" which allows the icons to be at the bottom where the "menu bar" is removed.

I"ll be working on a Palm Pre Theme for Cyanogen 3.6.5 Build. Like the i said on the Title: "Palm Pre Home Theme" for now just home screen, icons and few drawers.
Okay I switched to aHome Since the icons are at the bottom!!

Really nice theme man, great work.
mods please delete this post
would you be able to make this theme with android green or cyanogen blue?
SO any developers gonna make it into a zip file..wud love to try it please =)
guys its not really that hard. download the SDK and do some digging. it comes with a signing tool, and doing it yourself is the best way to learn. plus you can start to do things on your own, hence make your own customized stuff, and maybe even contribute back. maybe. lol =]
Okay i made now an update.zip for all
Its for cyanogons 4.1.9999 and i think 4.1.999 but i didnt tested it

Do you mean the black text ore the you mean realy the icon ?
Sorry for misstakes I am new in this area
I found this pack titled iphonestatusbar.zip and it changes your status bar icons with ones that look more like an i phone.
Well i liked the look of Dark and Blue on silver so much i decided to extract my files from framework-res.apk / res / drawable-mdpi / and change a bunch more.
to make these work i pulled/copied my framework-res.apk from my phone.
replaced the existing icons with the modified ones
then pushed the framework-res.apk and reboot the phone.
it works great..
Interesting
Thanks for the info

I'll give you guys the guide I used after school
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Its okay, but rather stay with the android look
Beaut icons,status bar look nice
i like to try this but,,don't know how.. ;p
any simple tutor for lowbies?? XD
Can one of you guru's give a noob a hand and tell me what i'm doing wrong.
no matter what i do i can't seem to theme the status bar.
I've created a new statusbar_background.9.png (yes i know .9.pngs are odd)
but i can't seem to actually make the phone take the change.
everything else i try and change shows up with no problem.
i've tried everything i could think of but am sure i'm missing something.
this file (attached) seems to do what i want if i drop it in framework-res on my old phone. or systemui on my tablet.
there is a statusbar_background.9.png in systemui but ????
but on the touch even if i edit the .xml and call it as drawable both as a .9 and a normal .png and i can't seem to make the touch like the change. i don't get a FC i just see the standard black bar. if i just delete the png i do get a fc though so...
I've even tried with a solid red bar just to see if it was the transparency but no go.
is it calling a different statusbar_background from somewhere i just can't find?
Many thanks to the person who tells me how im an idiot
http://www.multiupload.com/YOGY8OQCIE (mirror same as attached)
Ahh yes the dreaded 9.PNG file... it drives us themers nuts... it takes special edit which a little more than I can explain here. Search edit 9.PNG and I think you will find threads that will explain it in depth... probably not the answer you wanted but there are people on xda who have explained it much better than could...
thanks i'll give it a few more shots. but i'm fairly certain i created the .9.png correctly as it works on a couple other devices. and all my other .9 edits seem to work as intended. just was wondering if it was possible that it really wasn't the statusbar_background.9.png in systemui.apk that themed the status bar by some chance. as it seemed to FC if i had an incorrectly made png, but boots fine just with no change if i use one i'm pretty sure works.
just wish some themer had skinned the statusbar at all so i'd know it was just me being a mooley
I'm wondering the same thing, as I've changed almost everything else to MIUI style status indicators just by swapping PNG's in the drawable-hdpi folders. Crysis21 uses an HTC style status bar in his SensatioN ROM, and I've downloaded it to search the files and still can't find where the hell the change is made.
Yea just seems to want to foil my every try. It should just be the status_bar.9.png in systemui and mine seems to work on my buddies international s2 but for some reason ........ Dunno it may take me a while but ill figure it out eventually. Unless some kind soul steps in and shows us the answer

Sorry about the format, I wasn't able to upload a zip for some reason, the attached file has all of the drawable-hdpi folder changes I've made. The work isn't my own, only some of the tweaks and proper naming, its from HTC, the MIUI devs, and the brilliant minds (obviously mine excluded) on XDA.
Thanks....gonna try and learn as well. You guys are mch better than i but we all start simewhere right
