UPDATE
i ordered mine friday night at 6 PM, and it was at my door saturday at 9 AM
i charged it, and messed around with it a bit, but my service hasn't started yet. will post again when i can give it a full test drive!
walmart.com got this deal too.
Is this legit, if so I am taking mine back today and just ordering from here.
Has anyone received it from this store yet?
wirefly.com has the same deal. I am getting mine today.
and what tmob plans do you have to buy? phone & data prices? 2 year contract?
So, we can´t just buy the phone without any contract like in Europe?
That really sucks...

We can't, but we have one massive advantage over Europe. Actual plan costs. We have one of lowest price-per-minute ratios in the world. Japan is another that has similar costs to the US. So, while phones here are more expensive, voice and data plans are cheaper.
$200 a piece from Wirefly, got one for me and one for my wifey Due to arrive on Monday and I can't wait for that big beautiful screen! Looking forward to using NRG's rom on the TP2 as his were the only I like for my Fuze.
Looks like it is now up to $229 with a 2-year extension

Really? You want to go with that? Canada, the US, and Spain are THE most expensive countries for cell phone usage.
Check this out:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/08/12/us-canada-and-spain-win-the-battle-for-most-expensive-cellph/
According to that post the US equivalent of an $11 dollar plan in the Netherlands will run around $53 in the US (don't know which carrier but yeah).
Yes, you CAN buy a TMo TP2 without a contract (though still locked), for somewhere between $500 and $550. Alternatively, the unlocked US Edge-only Euro version ran about $720 (minus VAT) when it first debuted.

I saw that headline before, but what I'm curious about is whether they compared apples and oranges--for example, did they compare subsidies? Someday I'll actually read the source material and see. Not today though.
They don't take into account subsidies.
My point was that gehzumteufel said that the US had among the lowest plan costs. Which according to that is just not true.
Subsidies do soften the blow, but only if you're buying a new cell. If you're the type to keep the same cell for years (maybe you're an environmentalist, maybe you just like the model) the plan prices just seem expensive as they're the same price whether you get a new cell or not.
Personally as I'm on pay as you go/prepaid, I always pay full price, so the plan prices are important.
And yeah, the US has the TP2 for less than the European price. I am actually considering getting the US version, but then I'd have to find a way to unlock it...

But I am not interested in buy any plan, I already have mine with Telcel and it´s really good, I just need the device @ a reasonable price, nothing else
Bought for $542+ $50 tax from T-Mobile....still worth it.....
This is the full buy out price.....dont think you have to be a customer to buy it from them.....but the phone will be locked though.....you will hav to find other means to unlock it....

If you bought it from the US where would you plan on unlocking it? I am thinking of getting it from Tmo as well to use on Movistar, but I don't have any idea where I'd unlock it.

Just curious. For those here in the US who couldn't wait and purchased an Unlocked version, could you tell me/us how long it took from order to your hands and any extra fees you had to pay (import, ect..)
I'm very seriously considering just getting the unlocked and not waiting for the AT&T version to come out, even tho it would be a big risk not being able to insure it.
Thanks.
To all your points below you forgot the fact that an Europe version will not work on 3G USA networks...If you don´t mind loosing this I don´t think the shiping time or costos will be to high

Clove is an excellent choice. Purchased my Hermes, Kaiser and 3G-less Touch Pro from them. Shipping was unbelievably fast each time. I will be waiting for the US 3G version, though. Another thing to consider before purchasing an unlocked phone from Europe that is not fully functional in the USA is resale value. Since I upgrade my phone once or even twice in a year I always sell my used phones on eBay while they are still worth something. I imagine a Touch Pro2 without 3G in the USA will have less resale value if you sell it in the US. I think my Touch Pro was undervalued when I sold it earlier this year.

that is also not a concern with me. Once i get the TP2 ill likely have it for 2+ years, which by then, will be so out of date nobody will want to buy it. Ive had my 3125 for 2 years, and even if it was still a viable phone, ive dropped it a couple times so its not workin 100% anymore.

That "VAT" don't applied to international shipping buyer,.. (It is like local tax).
In your case, you only pay for the £426 plus shipping.
P/S: Noted, headsup...make sure you check with your Creditcard Co. they might charge you with some fees for foreign transaction.
Has anyone purchased the TP2 in the states and are currently using it? Wondering what problems, if any their could be.
Not yet,
As announced before till late July not any TP2 will be sold in America (Continent)
At least the 3G version, the european version you can get it easyly from any online store like clove uk
Buying HTC Pro2 in US
Check with Amazon
or use these guys, this is where I bought mine
http://www.welectronics.com/gsm/hTC/HTC-TOUCH-PRO2.HTML
Has anyone purchased a UK version and is now using it in the states? Any issues? Im looking at Clove at the "HTC Touch Pro2 - Bundle Option Two " which includes the device, a car charger, a 3.5mm adapter, screen protector and an extra battery.
According to Google, the bundle = $738.10 while the device itself is = $678.34. Wondering if the $60 difference is worth it. I know most of that price is the battery. *ponders* i did add it up and separately all the extras add up to about $86.
Like i mentioned on my previous post, I have been using it for a month now (with T-Mobile)... very happy with it and not problem at all ((Bought it from clove) and of course has been playing around with it and tweak it.

I have a TP2 on AT&T which I bought in the US here
the person had my shipped right to me from Hong Kong and i had it in two days, but I believe they have some in stock in CA. I am in CA and I love my TP2, no I do not have 3G, but I am very impressed with how well the edge works. I have had no problems with it and I have a lot of 3rd party programs on it.

just checked.. my bank changes a fee of "0.8%" according to him. which by his own math, in decimal form = 0.008. So it will be roughly about $6.00 fee to get a Touch Pro 2 from across the pond. My other bank said they charged 3% (.03) so my first bank is alot cheaper lol
So then if i got This Touch Pro 2 Bundle, after shipping and transaction fee, it would = $750.05
Ouch.. lol i know i want to do it, but it will still hurt pressing that 'check out' button

Well, its ordered. I with with Bundle 1 instead of 2 because i didnt think i needed the battery, least this early so saved some money their. I just pray if nobody is here, the delivery guy wont just leave it on the step for someone to grab. Ill let you guys know when i get this Tri-corder
Hi Everyone,
I was thinking that given the size of our community, I might be able to negotiate group discounts on new devices (especially pre-orders of upcoming devices). My goal would be to get the cheapest price possible from a reputable online retailer. I know lots of sites all over the web use stores or affiliate links to make a few extra bucks; this would be more about getting the best deal for you... if xda were getting anything out of it, I would make sure that was 100% clear.
Does this interest you guys at all? I have no idea how large of a discount I could get (maybe only 5- 10%), but I wanted to gauge the interest before I tried.
How many of you actually plan on pre-ordering one of the new HTC devices? Which one?
Thx!
Well, it depends on if AT&T decides to carry this phone or not. There's no point in ordering it if AT&T will eventually subsidy it for a lower cost. I have two lines that are (both) out of contract-- and I'm looking to make a major upgrade for me & the wife.
So, if AT&T doesn't hook me up, sign me up for two. But, seriously, send me a message if you make any progress.
I want this phone extremely bad. I can't make any commitment until I know it will be offered on Tmobile in the US with our goofy bands and whatnot.
I would be interested if the device would be released on ANY North American 3g bands.
I just can't live without data on my phone for much longerr

Ditto! ...ordered mine a week ago. I haven't told the wife yet as I haven't found the right time to break it to her as we're supposed to be clearing our credit cards and paying her parents back this year!
I actually go out of may way to be different and yesterday stumbled across the silver version on PDAshop.nl/.be and Smartphoneshop.nl/.be and took a fancy to it - they're the only places in Europe offering it too. I asked for a quote to ship to the UK and was all set to cancel my order with Clove but they refuse to ship outside the Netherlands or Belgium. Then I realized they are both the same company and their sites are mirrors of each other which instantly raises my suspicions ...why would the same company trade as two different competing entities if they didn't have something to hide I think.

Am thinking of ordering one of these phones. Currently own a 3GS on O2.
Can pre order with mobiles.co.uk . Looking at T-Mobs Web 600 tariff at £30 per month.
Can I ask what, if any, limits T-Mob have with regards to data usage.I currently use Slingplayer on my 3GS, along with radio streaming, use Youtube a fair bit.Would I have any problems doing this with T-Mob(I understand they took the YT app off of their HD2s?), assuming of course that Slingplayer gets released for Android?

When I swapped my 3GS for HD2 I bought the HD2 so I could put my o2 sim straight in it.. Didn't want to loose the o2 data allowance from the iphone contract. And will be doing the same with the Desire.
Yeah, suppose I could do the same.Just get a cheaper tariff .Or else wait and buy a locked one?from O2?
Am currently on the £20 Simplicity for iPhone tariff.I thought they knew if the SIM was being used in a phone other than an iPhone?
I'm just curious as to where you might have bought it from. Expansys? Handtec? Clove? I've heard stories where people have to pay a big amount of money after it gets into the country, like customs fees and things like that. Expansys is $749 but it almost seems like the best bet since they ship from the US. Any suggestions US buyers?
Negri: https://negrielectronics.com/samsung-i9250-google-galaxy-nexus-black-unlocked.html
plus theres a $35 off coupon you can find online. they have free ground, but all their other shipping are more expensive than expansys.
I bought mine from Expansys. There was some ups and downs in the begining, but in the end they were great! Their US GM (Cory L) is active in the Expansys thread now, helping people with problems, and letting us know what is going on with shipments, ect. Can't ask for much more. There was a $20 coupon floating around, not sure if it's still active.
I picked them cause they have a US branch here, in case I ever have to deal with the warranty.
Earlier today someone found out that Newegg has them in stock - or so it says. Have no clue if they are imported or not (UK ones have 2 year warranties). It lists the manufacturer site as www.samsung.com and not the UK location so

No hidden fees other than certain credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee, in the 2%-3% range people have reported.

heh.. i was on T-Mob for the longest time but after seeing the LTE speeds in action & jumped on while they still had unlimited data it's the best mobile broadband ever. i can download a 1GB file in about 5 minutes.
on the downside though, i'm paying roughly $20 more then i was on T-Mob and have less minutes. if AT&T or T-Mob were anywhere near as fast as Verizon(in my area they are very slow compared to Verizon) & had unlimited data also i'd consider switching.

I would go with Expansys also for the same reasons as the others. already in the US & easier to deal with warrenty wise.
I'd go with negrielectronics.com tbh. While they may be more than anyone else, sadly enough they were the only one's from London to the US to never BS me about stock, and they handled my order in a professional manner. The same cannot be said for others that have been mentioned in this very thread.
The Android figurine they send out is a nice touch too.
As I wrote in the other thread, I too went with Negri last night. An hour and a half after placing the order I got an e-mail saying it shipped along with the tracking number. Pretty damn nice if you ask me.
Is it worth it to wait and see if the GN drops in the US? Right now I can get one from Handtec for ~$696, but if it dropped here would it really be priced any cheaper? It's set to be Canadian$650 (~$636 in American monies), would it be priced maybe around $600 if it's released here? Maybe even less?
Or, is the HSPA+ version even going to come out stateside? All I've been hearing about is the CDMA/LTE version.
Insight?
Canadian version is only US$ 636???

I debated this for a long long time. Then my N1 had it's usual set of daily hiccups, and I had it. So I bought one. It's a great gadget, and almost worth the $700 I paid.
But, if you're okay with your current phone, stick it out and wait. It won't go up in price.

If you go to Canada and buy it outright you're going to be paying local taxes in the 10%-15% range, and either paying to convert your USD or pay a foreign transaction fee on your credit card... and you're still gonna pay $700 out the door, just like ordering from the UK importers.
If/when it does come to the US unlocked I'd expect it in the $550 range. Just depends how much you wanna pay to get it now.

Sometime last week, an AT&T version passed through the FCC, with HSPA+. Just about a month or so ago, AT&T was asking customers (on twitter, I believe) who would be interested in the device on their network. Seems like they listened.

The FCC only has to worry about the bands that will be used in the states, which is 850/1900. No reason why they'd make a specific version with a quadband radio to only work on AT&T and not T-mobile. Its more expensive than just using the current pentaband version that's available and putting an AT&T battery cover on it.
I'll give it two weeks. If it doesn't come to the US in a T-Mobile friendly version I'm getting myself one for the holidays from across the pond.
Didnt the GSM pentaband version get approved by the FCC a week before the Verizon LTE version?

Ugh tough decisions. Where did you get yours from?

I got mine from Negri. But I'd probably go with Expansys-USA, as they apparently have better repair policies. Use ebates for 1.5% off. There's also a $20 coupon floating around.
On cybermonday ebates had a 6% back coupon with them! Was too iffy to pull the trigger then. Damn.

As the article says, just because it works on bands here and is passed through the FCC doesn't mean it will be sold here. Any phone that could be used on a carrier here needs to pass the FCC. The i9250 is the version being sold overseas right now.
Buy from UK
I think if you cant wait, you should get it from handtec or clove. they ship to usa and their prices dont include taxes for shipping to usa (i think, from what i have read and seen). the price is £445 including shipping, which is less than 700 usd.
i dont think it would release in usa for less than 649 (the same as the iphone 4s 16gb), then u have taxes etc.
plus who knows when is the unlocked version releasing.
Why can't Google just sell it like they did with the N1?

This! Although I would LOVE it if Amazon USA would sell it.

But they sold the Nexus S for $529 just fine unlocked this time last year. There's no reason why the 16gb Galaxy Nexus needs to be over $600 USD unlocked.

Because from pretty much every angle, the Nexus One sales tactic was a failure. They partnered with Verizon this time to get bigger sales and exposure, and because of that we're not seeing it sold unlocked unfortunately.

True, but the carriers are nothing but a b*tch in the US. The Europeans have had this phone for three weeks now.

Just based on what the Nexus One and Nexus S cost when they were sold unlocked here.

Actually, two different GSM versions have passed through the FCC - the pentaband international version, and a version with only AT&T HSPA+ bands, see here: http://www.slashgear.com/galaxy-nexus-visits-fcc-again-but-with-att-bands-02199735/
Does anyone know when we can expect a price drop for the gsm version of the GN? I'd imagine after the holiday season but weeks? Months? I've never really followed a phone like this so I'm not sure when to expect it

I'm assuming you're talking about the GSM version? We've already seen price drops since its been released. Its down to the $685 range from the $700+ when it first came out.
Gotta realize that since US users are importing from the UK, the prices are going to be a bit inflated. It'll of course come down over time just like anything else. But unless this starts getting sold directly in the US, the prices are going to stay high for the next couple months.

That's not a bad price. Negri has really been getting aggressive/competitive on pricing considering they were one of the more expensive ones when the phone first came out.
Its up now at Negri for $644.50 and On Amazon new ones are selling at 658, prices are coming down but slowly.. I am still patient, its hardly 2 weeks since the launch in US!! Considering LTE + 32GB verizon retailing at $650, this should cost something like $550 for 16GB when it launches on a GSM carrier.
It won't fall through $600, unless there are some coupon codes or something like that. They are selling for $600+ unlocked in countries that have it on sale officially. Of course in a few months, you can easily find one for less than $600 used or refurbished. But if you are looking for a new one, don't expect sub-600 price anytime soon.

Blame Google and Verizon for striking a deal that included them not being able to sell the GSM version in the USA.

is there a benefit from buying it from a place like Expansys vs Amazon? I know Expansys helps out with middleman for warranty issues but I could solve that by buying insurance from Ensquared right?
Or am I completely off on that?

Everyone has a different experience it seems but most importers are offering some help by being a middle man for warranties.
3rd party phone insurance like squaretrade, etc. is completely different because those are going to cover accidental damage and have more options, whereas the factory warranty will only cover defects and things.

We'll see I guess. I'm not expecting it to be down near $600 any time soon either but I'm hopeful. Right now Negri is leading the charge at $645 with others coming down as well. Compare that w/ the pre-order and first week prices that were in the $750 range. That obviously doesn't mean it'll drop another $100 anytime soon but just something to think about.

So would I even need the manufacturers warranty if ensquared offers one?

Sorry for the questions, I've never imported a phone I've always had carrier insurance

Basically the only reason why you'd want to have the factory warranty is for from-factory defects and issues. You could potentially get these issues fixed free of cost from the manufacturer, whereas every claim with a 3rd party insurer can carry a deductible and go against your yearly claim allowance (aka you could pay out of pocket for things that should be fixed for free).
But like I said, I'd go look and see what peoples experiences with different importers is regarding factory warranty. My understanding is that Negri will help facilitate a factory warranty return (you ship to Negri, they ship to the UK for fix, ship back to Negri, ship back to you). I'd assume others do this also but I can't say for sure. Just going by what I've read.
