Hey there
I love balckstone...I have no problems with it...only sometimes some bug or lag or sometimes battery dies sooner than I would like it to due...but it is OK...I bought this device because it has huge display and looks awesome...
This type of question was asked before...but not like this...
I bought this because I wanted it to be something that I will want to use every single minute - but it is not like that - I thought that there are millions of MEGA AWESOME apps but there are not...
And here comes the question...(this is my first WinMo device so I haven;t done any research in the past):
Is blackstone/WM 6.1 too new so no cool apps and games exist for it?
Are they still in development? Or there is nothing going to happen?...
My point is that I don't know how it was and how it will be...I remember when IpodTouch came (I own one) we all waited, first we did jailbreak than played few games that werent that cool but nowadays I can play AWESOME games on my ipod...so is this the same with blackstone? is that all fancy stuff still in dev? or not?
Because to be honest, this really sucks..I know this is not a gaming device, but it would be nice to have some cool game on it...something fullscreen and playable and amusing...
Sorry to post such a long sh*t but I am really sad and confused that I spent so much money on this baby and yet can't have a lot of fun with it.
And also some very useful application to fully customize the look of the today screen (I dont use TF3D) etc...something that is fullscreen on blackstone, is really awesome does cool things looks nice...and everything..I know it is easy to say and difficult to do...but I am not a programmer...I am a user...aaa...enough of ****chat
PS: please post only reasonable answers, if you have to say this has been posted dont do that just close the thread and delete it..I'd like some serious answers...thank you.
First of all, use the search function here on Blackstone forum.
There are whole threads dedicated to games available for Blackstone that work in full-screen and are very nice.
But, if you expect same amount of games for Touch HD like there is for iPhone, then you will be disappointed. Because indeed, Touch HD is not a gaming phone, but rather a business / multimedia / navigation phone.
As for the apps - there's a HUGE amount of applications available for Windows Mobile that work normally on Touch HD. There are many sites that provide freeware WinMo apps, and in fact you can find many cool apps right here on this forum. Again - search function, or simply browse Themes, Applications and Software forum. There are also a few very useful threads that have lists of most popular Touch HD applications, with descriptions.
The question is simply what kind of apps are you looking for?
You are the FingerKeyboard guy..hey there...
Yep, Finger Keeyboard 2 is one of the bestest apps I had and have on my phone...thank you for it...
about the search function - I am not retarded, I searched a lot and found a lots of useful stuff...
But as I have mentioned, as I am a new WinMo user I expected much more...
I dont know what more to say...
Glad you like the FingerKeyboard Seems a lot of people do!
As for the app quantity - there is really a lot of WinMo applications, since this system has been around for a very long time. Not all of them are usable on Touch HD, but many, many are.
I think you should simply say what kind of apps are you looking for (besides games) and I'm sure people will give you advices. If you need some inspiration, try:

thank you very much
Hopefully this is the right forum, and hopefully im not breaking any rules by posting this here!
Im looking for artist(s) for a game I am working on in Silverlight. It is a cross platform Windows Phone 7 and PC rts style game. Kinda crossed between Civilisation and C&C i guess. It is post-apocolyptic isometrical style, a bit like fallout i guess (BUT NOTHING LIKE FALLOUT LAWYERS! ;D).
I am in desperate need for artists as my art skills are really poor. I am coding the game and have a couple of people working on tech trees/balancing etc. The game is still in a resonably early state, although it is playable multiplayer already via web.
Id love to show you what I have, however I have not added the security layer yet so its currently still running on my local apache server
At the moment I have not begun the WP7 version, but i have tested what i have and it works, however it is not built for the aspect ratio yet, so until graphics are organised that part won't happen.
If anyone is interested, please let me know via this thread or PM.
Thanks for reading
Id like to help you out with graphics, what kind of scale would you be wanting for your game? detailed graphics skinning? more details the better and what kind of dedication to time.
Rosco
Hi Rosco.
Thanks for your reply!
We are not looking for a great deal of time dedication, although i guess it depends how quickly you can draw etc We also have day jobs so progress is not super fast, although it is moving each day.
The game is all 2D and the art can really be split into 3 sections:
1) UI. Menu graphics, login boxes, buttons etc
2) Building and Units. These are very simply animated (only a few frames) and in isometric view
3) Terrain graphics. These are really textures with dusty tracks, broken roads, sandy deserts etc
We have just recruited another artist and have not really assigned tasks or decided the art direction yet. While I am still coding the game, we are also working on our documentation so we can have a clearer idea of the art direction.
Id like to see some things you have done in the past if possible and id be happy to chat to you over msn or somewhere so you can get a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve and what our goals are.
I would be interested in helping you with graphics. Just let me know if you still need me.
Thanks for the reply, ive sent you a PM
Ok, i guess i'll put one selfish bump in here as we are still looking for artists I had a couple of replies, but no replies to PMs. So let me know if anyone is interested. The project has continued to move forward code wise, but the graphics are still sucky
i would like to help creating the menu graphics.
Hi HD2Owner, i dropped you a PM, thanks!
One of peoples biggest complaints is multitasking well here we go:
Scherotter said while a few major apps will be able to multitask, such as Pandora, the music streaming app that will play in the background while the user is doing something else, independent apps will not, for now. Scherotter said that eventually, independent apps will be multitask-capable, but he wouldn't say when that would be.

Great find. Here is the link -
http://wpcentral.com/multitasking-coming-wp7-pandora-can-multitask-now
I'm pretty sure that was in the initial WP7 reveal back in Feb? The policy seems to be that the big names will get access to multi-tasking (for the moment) and even then only if they can justify why they need it. So basically music apps and maybe IM clients will get it for now.
Well at least there is some multitasking and so its a start
Only thin new about this news is that major apps will gain multitasking, we have known for a while that WP7 will get multitasking
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Well that is definately a start, not being able to listen to music in the background while responding to a text or browsing the web would be pretty lame.
Updated: Say it ain't so! Looks like Network World got the quote wrong as Michael Scherotter ask them to make a correction noting: "Great article but with a slight correction; built-in software like Zune can play music in the background. Pandora cannot at this time."
I've heard that going forward they will open up multi-tasking to apps that require it (given a good reason for needing it)
The latest Engadget Show had a lengthy interview with Aaron Woodman who confirmed that multitasking will be on the device and that there are zero technical problems with multitasking on the OS.
Microsoft are working on a compelling user experience to manage the multitasking applications which I think is a good thing. Apple have a good system but it's not perfect and what's the point of just copying the design from a competitor.
As copy/paste is coming at the start of the year I would be surprised if multitasking is not released by end of Q3 next year.
If you look through the marketplace you can see that some apps is using a permission named "RunUnderLock", I guess that that one is true multitasking.
I'm also pretty sure that Spotify have confirmed that they're able to multitask.

Last FM and the twitter app is reported to have multitask also actual user has reported it. here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823129
One thing I use a lot on my current device is Pocket IRC. I hope a form of it is made for WP7 and that it will multitask so you can do other stuff and come back to see if anyone is talking when the rooms get a bit quiet.
Other than seeing stuff that people have submitted on youtube or deviant art, I'm not having much luck finding sites that are specifically for artists on an android (or IOS) platform. I've started on a spreadsheet that lists out the available tools on android and what features they have so they can be compared but I was wondering if there was a site that talks about that kind of thing specifically? I dont find the descriptions or reviews on the play store particularly helpful as the only scratch the surface of the tools functionality and its only after purchasing that you realise its missing x, y or z meaning you need something else as well.
I also like to watch video's of people drawing and would like to see more of them to help me pick up techniques I hadn't considered as a digital newbie.
Any sites you can share with me?
I am getting the Note 8 just so I have the artistic on the go work I want to do. I am looking at photoshop and sketchbook for my drawing needs but like you have not seen much on doing art on android. Maybe its time to start a site
I will post any info I find here that might be interesting to artists.

Sounds good, I currently have PS touch an sketchbook installed not sure what samsung included. I will help with any apps or info I can.
I will look into a site for images and forums for android artwork. I only have android so I will only do this this if I can control the site from my note 8. Will post back here about it in a few days, still learning the note an want the weekend to figure stuff out.

I'm tempted to start a new site using webs.com or something similar specific for mobile tablet artists, but not sure if I will or not yet as it would probably take more upkeep than I'm willing to perform. I mostly use the web while at work but only have limited access and I'm rarely on PC when at home.
Anyone want to help? At the moment the note forums are all seperate but the apps and resources that we all use are common to everyone. My vision is for a front page that would link to various tablet specific resources, guides, reviews etc. List out the tablets with stylus support with links to the xda forums and a forum for people to share there art. discuss apps, techniques etc etc.
I may be able to get this chart finished as well...
I'm not a developer in the slightest. But as I've wandered through this website looking for support and whatnot I've been watching a show named RWBY. You're probably only reading this because you know the show and like it. If no then please move along unless you're interested in where this is going. In the show there is a device called as a scroll that is used like a smartphone and I've been curious if someone else has had the idea of "What if the BeaconUI from the scroll were to be on a phone as an Android ROM, Launcher, or an independent OS on it's own." I finally decided after about 3 or 4 years to ask this on here. Has anyone on here had thus idea, or have any of you actually tried making this a reality? This is mainly a curiosity so if this is removed I don't mind too much.
I tried to theme my homescreen with decor reminiscent of the Scrolls from RWBY, but I feel like there's not enough of the Scrolls shown to really do a whole lot with. I'm welcome to anything anyone else wants to do, though. I love RWBY!

I've tried too, but it seems that in the end of season 2, season 3, and the new trailer (Hype) it shows enough functionality for some simple processes again. So far it has a minimalist design with video, voice, folder management, web browsing, and a fighting game cx
