Yeh just noticed that too. Not a significant list of changes. About to update soon. The shipped ROM on my simfree TP2 was 1.19.401.0 and this update is 1.19.401.1

I've flashed with this ROM. If you just can lived with this 256MB and missing yahoo icon on the stock... don;t waste time flashing it. It does not include the gps and sms hotfix.

Does it allow you to update the gps hotfix with the new rom though? Or does it still give you the error about invalid code or whatever it was?! (not got the time to update at mo, as no time to go through restoring it etc)
Cheers

I fully and completely agree, it was a total waste of time, even got the feeling my phone became slower...

O2 XDAII ROM upgrade failed?

I have just downloaded the rom upgrade off the O2 website (ver 1.60.50) and installed. Initially it was trying to connect to the internet! Eventually I got it working, but after hard resetting the version still says 1.60.00wwe, Rom date 12/03/03, extRom ver 1.60.50 - all as before.
Does anyone know if the upgrade has actually worked but the info not been updated, or does this mean that the update hasn't worked and I must have had an error somewhere?
Any help, advise appreciated.
I thought these forums where to help each other out and provide information. It is disappointing that no one wants to help, or provide a little guidance.

Absolutely nothing changed?
I thought it's not possible? Did you see a progress bar on XDA's display during the upgrade? if so, the memory has been accessed, so your rom is the new one, there is just a mess in identification. As far as I know, extROM changes the identity (it is it's main purpose), did you use it?

Maybe I'm wrong - but it seems that you are upgrading from 1.60.50 to 1.60.50. Right? As such, everything WOULD be the same!
I did see the progress bar, and the documentation before the upgrade on the O2 website sugests the Rom to be 1.60.00wwe and the extRom to be 1.60.50
I would have expected the actual Rom to now be 1.60.50wwe.
Has anyone else managed to upgrade to the official O2 ROM that is on their site and can confirm the ROM info? Also what apps etc would confirm that it has been upgraded if the info hasn't been updated but upgrade has work?
Many thanks for help and advice.
I'm not sure, but doesn't higher number mean later+better ROM?
If yes, have a look at 1.72 by T-mobile - there should not be many differences!
Since I have only just bought it I don't want to upgrade to an unofficial ROM in case it invalidates the Warranty should anything go wrong with it. May look at using a ROM from another supplier in a few months though.
Can anyone confirm if the ROM ver should be changed?
Thanks

You need to give people time to reply mate - we don't LIVE on these forums you know.
Anyhow, to answer your posts, yes, you have worked it out, the O2 ROM update, which is described as 1.60.50, is actually just the extended ROM element.
The system ROM is still 1.60.00
This confused me, and no doubt, lots more people too, and it's a bit STUPID of O2 to describe it this way.
Thus, you have in effect flashed your XDA2 to the exact same ROM it had before hand.
Curses to O2 for the confusion. Not good of them!
Thanks, and sorry for being impatient
O2 need to sort this out as I have done a ROM upgrade that could have fried my machine if I did it wrong that was unneccessary.
Thanks again.
Well, O2 is not alone in this - the current i-mate ROM is listed as 172126. The ROM version is 1.72.00, but the Extended ROM is 1.72.126.
I think they do this for internal tracking purposes. They get the ROM from MS, but they tweak the ExtROM themselves. It is possible for them to release multiple ExtROM versions in the same ROM version, so THAT is what they specify.
Make sense? Just a stab in the dark as to the logic of the release numbers.

Interest in HTC S620 Test ROM?

I just bought an HTC S620 off of eBay and noticed that when I boot up it say IU BUILD TEST....I also have noticed that the WLAN drivers are not installed for some reason. I posted on another forum about my issue and they pointed to your ROMs here.
I guess I can try and install one of the shipped ROMs to get the WLAN drivers installed, but it was also suggested that ya'll might be interested in the current set up and test radio ROM. If it is of interest, please let me know, and tell me how I can get it to you.
Also, anyone know if there is a way for me to just install the WLAN drivers rather than a whole new ROM?
yes please post the info or pm
and could you also tell us what applications you have !
Do you want what applications came installed when I got it?
In the about section of the settings, here is what it says:
Windows Mobile 5.0 with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack
OS 5.1.461 (Build 15671.3.3.0)
Radio Version 4.1.13.31_02.71.90
RIL Version 2.002
Let me know what I need to do to get it to you....
3.3 is new!!
Is that good?
Only problem is....there is no WiFi drivers on my device!!!!
Please post pics
of you screens ,in regards to the wifi drivers, did you try to google ?
Did I try to google and find the WiFi drivers? Yes. I found nothing. If anyone wants to point me in a direction where I might find them, please let me know
try to search in mobile sites like howard forums i think i had it once for my cingular 2125 i just do not remember where i download the driver from, anyways i am still curious if you have some additional applications on your htc s620 from what i have or homescreen ????
Ok I'm confused....I'm attempting to update the ROM on my S620 to the
RUU_Excalibur_HTC_WWE_1.11.405.4_4.1.13.28_02.63.90_Ship.exe
in an attempt to get the WiFi Drivers on my phone. It says my current image version is 1.16.110.01 and I would be updating to 1.11.405.4
Why would my test version be a later version? Is this smart to overwrite this later version? And how can I save this version first before I overwrite it. Thanks!

yes your rom is newer but it is still a TEST ROM , WICH MEANS that its is not the shipped rom without the bugs and in your case the wifi drivers that is why it is a test rom,if you want to install a shipped htc s620 rom then go ahead be sure to downgrade the bootloader first!!!!!
I already installed the above shipped HTC S620 ROM. All I did is run the exe file and let it install. I did not downgrade the bootloaded. In fact, I have no idea what that means?
Everything seems to be working fine on the phone now though, and WiFi is now available
What issue might I have with not downgrading the bootloader?
you will have a downraded bootloader as a result
Any ideas on where to find the ROM, now that they are not being hosted at xda-developers?

Custom GPS rom for telus

http://rapidshare.com/files/112775037/CustomTelusGPSRomForTouch.zip.html
As always use at your own risk.
write down your MDN and MSID before you start
Removed:
Relaxed security.
HTC Home , because i dont like , its not very useful and takes too much space and memory.
ArcsoftMMS , because it does not work with telus
Alltel customizations.
HTC Cube , ( Left touchflo intact , just cube part is removed)
Some other stuff that i dont remember.
Added:
Jbed java
Opera mini ( has its own icon, removed security warning you get everytime you connect)
Dotfred's task manager
GPS launcher for those who use TomTom etc.
PDC clock
PHM notepad
Pocket Rar.
addes cabs of telus mobile email, google maps, live search, spb mobile shell to my documants. you can install these if you want.
Mini Howto
step 1 Unlock / install bootloader from
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/ImCoKeMaN/Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe
You must follow onscreen instructions very carefully as its very easy to miss something.
step 2
Install Alltel stock rom
http://216.139.227.226/alltel/RUU_V..._NV2.00_PRL30008_0331_Ship_withSpecialNBH.exe
Boot it up after flashing but do not align screen , if you miss that do not let customizations run.
step 3
Install my custom telus rom from
http://rapidshare.com/files/112775037/CustomTelusGPSRomForTouch.zip.html
If your data is not working
You did not follow instructions in step 2. Please repeat step 2 and step 3
I there anyway you could do up a rom that is identical to the rom released with the telus htc touches now but with the GPS support? Ie... still has HTC Home and the cube etc. I like the rom the way it is I just want the GPS support. I emailed Telus and they wouldnt give me an update on when they are releaseing there rom update.
I believe this rom has gps and rev A.
Another cook, welcome to the club. Good luck man
Thank you.
I am not a professional cook.
I like newest stock base with some programs added or removed. Everybody is cooking with wm6.1 that is designed for other devices. So i had to cook for myself. Whatever i cook, I just post it here so that somebody else with similar taste can use it.
BTW its not my first rom, i had cooked some for Titan, i just bought touch and cloned it with titan.
hey i would love to put this rom on my phone. i have never flashed my phone befor so i will be doing some reading. Any suggested threads for flashing my telus touch. also how do i find out my MDN and MSID? i just want gps why can't telus put out an official update now
Edit:Nevermind i found it. will probably be venturing to flash this tonight or over the weekend
Thank you verry much for this rom a1jatt i flashed it on my phone last night with no problem. theire is one thing i noticed that is a little annoying don't know if it's happening to you but the phone dialer keep popping up at random times when i close other applications. Apart from that so far it's better than the stock telus rom.
i have a question. I wondering if when telus comes out with the official rom upgrade will i be able to upgrade to it with no issues(assuming they are activating gps and have a 3.xx radio version) also will this re-lock my phone.

There is some information on ppcgeeks.com .. you can flash back to .40 spl / unlocker and then flash oem rom, that will overwrite most of the stuff. but right now its advised not to do so but seems like they are working on it.
Even if telus comes with new ROM i think its best to keep it unlocked. I think its safer that way.
thank you for your reply. Could i get the latest version of this rom. i absolutly love it. it works much better than the stock rom
You got a PM.
great thank you again for this rom

1-2 months. That said, GPS is NOT part of that update, nor are they ever going to add it.
Why not just cook one with the ppcgeeks kitchen?

Sweet...
Anyone tested out the radio yet?
I installed it, stopped customization and then ran my dcd carrier cab.
So far so good, seems to be pretty responsive. For me its more responsive then some recent custom roms I've ran. No issues with the calls or with data. I'll report if anything comes up.
Can you flash just the radio using the SD card?? I have a Titan, but my friend has the Vogue..... I have the radio that was posted on the Titan upgrade forum by DCD, can this be flashed to his Vogue??

This new Bell ROM is simply THE BEST one I have tried. Now granted I am a Bell customer but this ROM gets a GPS lock faster then any of the other ones I have tried.
Hi folks,
During the rom update, do we need to let the customization runs or soft reset before ?
Thank you
question new to the whole rom upgrading dealy
would the bell 6.1 upgrade interfere with my verizon service and whatnot?

Yes. I just let 'er rip. Lost a lot of cool utilities but well worth the pain of finding them again. GPS lox in seconds. Indoors! It's a beautiful thing. No more waiting 10 minutes for GPS. No worries about upgrading from a non-Bell rom, either.
(i am a Bell customer)
Can I use the ROM to my HTC Touch. I do not use Bell. I'm from Bangladesh and use a local provider here. So what you suggest, should I proceed with that?

Should be fine, just don't let the customization run. Be sure to take down all of your settings before you flash too, incase they are lost.

Can someone put the file on rapidshare or some other server. The HTC link to download the file is saying "not found" now.
Thanks

official bell 6.1 update
Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I have a new Alltell Touch, I lost my old modded one as far as Alltel is concerned. I downloaded the new Bell rom because i want the upgraded radio. I unlocked my phone using Cokeman's unlocker and tried to flash to the Bell rom. It gets to 31% and stops and will not go any further, when I retry it gives me an "Invalid Vendor ID" error. I am able to reflash back to the original Alltel rom with no problem. Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? I'm not new to this and I'm getting my arse handed to me by this phone, lol.
HELP! I installed the rom update and I have gps, threaded text messaging and everything but I don't have the "slide panel" interface signature to windows mobile 6.1! why not?

Are you sure you are using a vogue and not an elf? Do they have CDMA in Bangladesh, I would assume it would be GSM.
IF you are using GSM you can't flash that rom.

[Q] Questions about curious debranding results

Last night I managed to de-brand my HTC Wildfire from Vodafone to HTC Generic firmware downloaded from shipped-roms.
The procedure seems to be a success, but I noticed something really weird - my Vodafone ES rom was version 2.24, while the HTC one is version 2.22. I checked for an update from the phone after that but no updates were available.
Is this the latest official version? (I know of some cases where companies change the version number just because they added their own apps/logos in the phone)
The procedure I followed was:
Install HTC Sync
Create a Gold Card
Downloaded the latest WWE rom I found on shipped-roms (RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe)
Ran the installer and waited for it to finish
Thanks in advance for any replies.
P.S. using gold card doesn't root my phone right? (I don't want it to be rooted at this point, so I thought I'd ask)
It's normal. All different carrier branded ROM's have their own version numbers, and the WWE ROM has the lowest build number among these (i.e . 2.22), Most probably, since it was the first one to be released.
And no, you are not rooted, so don't worry about it.

Oh pretty neat I guess.
Any recommendations on which ROM should I keep?
In the past I was always advised to use stock firmware on smartphones, but not sure about the case with modern ones.
Since you don't want to have root at this point of time, you will have to stick with the Stock ROM. If it works fine for your needs, I would say go for it, but, if you feel the need to experiment / mod, then definitely give ROMs like Cyanogenmod 7 and other Gingerbread a try. Or, if so inclined, you can go for Sense based ROMs as well, which look and feel like the Stock ROM, but with various tweaks, improvements, features and optimizations.
