Hi all,
I have upgraded my Hermes (8525) to the Black 2.0.1 Cingular version. nice rom by the way. Since upgrading, when I "Explore" my device using activesync it brings up c:\ not the device. This is the first time I am trying to get info from/to the device since upgrading. I have rebooted my PC and softreset my PPC and ensured that the firewall was off and still no dice.
Anyone seen this before? a quick search didn't turn up much (in english);

Give that a try? Never seen that happen before.
Nope. Didn't work. Activesync works OK. I can sync all the information I want. i thought maybe it had to do with "Allowing Wireless Connections" while connected to the computer, I disabled that and still no change.
Custel, your cingular additions to the Black rom Rock. Do you plan on customizing the Black 2.5 rom once released?
Stupid stupid activesync. I had to redownload and reinstall activesync to get it working again... All set now.

well mine stuck for random reason. i think i did set the traylaunch to be visible and it never came back

thanks for this, tom but I need to sync with exchange server remotely using GPRS/EDGE
anyway, seems like i somehow managed to overcome this issue (keeping fingers crossed) by adjusting all date/time, etc. settings gradually as opposed to doing it at once
I upgraded my Dash to WM6 Official and 2 times since then my phone (Now an S620) looses it's partnership with WMDC!
When I connect my phone to my PC WMDC opens up sees the phone and then asks if I would like to create a new partnership.
Each time I have said yes and waited 10-20 minutes for the partnership to complete.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a registry setting on my phone which is getting wiped?

do you have windows live one care? i had the same problem and thats what was causing it

Yes, I do have OneCare.... Hmmmm....
Do you know if there is a solution to the problem? How did you discover that was the problem?
I'm running OneCare 2.0.2350.10

I'm not an expert, but I would suggest that you tighten it
I am having the same issue. And I also have OneCare. I have been googleing for a while now to try and find more information. No success so far.
I was hoping to find a way to fix it.
Merwin, how did you find about OneCare being the problem? Btw, good job narrowing it down to it.

Actually, i was the one who made the sarcastic comment. doalittledanse was the one who said OneCare was the problem. However, I have OneCare as well and haven't noticed any issues with it.
I can't get Active Sync to recognize my phone. What needs to be done?
Are you using Vista ? In that case you need to update the sync center.

ok after like all night i somehow got it to work, doesnt ask how (it was late in the morning)

the problem i'm having with active sync and 6.1 is that it starts on the phone (in the background) automatically. and it won't die either. you kill it... and it's back a short time later (even if you haven't connected to your computer).
not a biggie i guess. i tried the fix (where you create an exchange server and then adjust the active sync settings on the phone) but it didn't seem to change anything.
anyway... i have no idea if there's a fix, but at the very least am currious to know if anyone else is having the same issue.
this isn't an install fluke either (though it could be a fluke with my phone specifically) as i had the problem on multiple installs of the rom and w/ multiple 6.1 roms (both the 07 and 08 versions).

I thought i had done that...seems like i had to do it again to "kick" in TY
My procedure like a well known old "fake server" method.. with little addition...
Here goes:
1) Open Active Sync
2) Click on "Menu" and select "Configure Server..."
3) Enter false info in the server address / user name / other details
4) In the "Edit Server Settings" tab "Deselect" all (Contacts, Email, Calendar, Tasks) settings.. Finish settings..
5) Click on "Menu" and select "Schedule..."
6) In BOTH drop-down menus select "Manually"
7) Enter "Adjust peak times" and "Deselect" all days...
8) Click on "ok" and then close Active Sync.
9) At last, install "Elias Async Killer" for stop activesync when unplug cable or disconnect bluetooth activesync session...
10) Soft Reset...
That's it...
"Don't delete" fake server in this method.. It's not affect or conflict your regular activesync sessions with this settings..
This is work for me.. Sometimes activesync started by some programs (like tomtom7, igo8 etc..) ..in this case simply close it.. Dont worry.. It's not our famous "Activesync issue"..
Please try this method and report your results..
If it's work we are handle a big Diamond issue...

If you are using exchange server, pushmail or whatever necessary livesync, this is not for you
It's only work for local activesync sessions unfortunately..

Use task manager from fdcsoft v2.9.
-Go to notification
-You will see 3 items that say: repllog.exe.
-Select the one in the middle then press on the lower part an icon that looks like a paper with a pencil, its the 4th icon starting from the left. Click on it.
-On the part where it says EVENT check if it says: The system time changed.
-Change this "The system time changed" to "Turned AC power on".
-Reset device.
-No more stalker activesync.
Although it might apear on fresh boot, but once you close it thats it no more activesync.
Hope this helps you guys out, I tried this on a different ROM, but see why not this shouldn't work on udKs.

sometimes even this doesn't work...
How did some cooks get rid of the active sync pop-up "thing" in their roms? If I remember correctly, Panosha for instance, did solve this problem...i mean, they could tell if they wanted to...i guess

Not all cooks hide secrets. Actually this problem is easy to solve. Cooks just need to replace the 4 sync*.dll from a working build before cooking. This will solve all your headaches. No need fake servers and stuffs like that.

I really appreciate the input from the cooks about those "unsolved" problems, because, we, the users, would need so much more time to straighten these issues, while even on the other hand, just a little hint from the cook can make big impact, whatsoever...i really don't understand, why wasn't there any advice from the cooks who did solve it...with all due respect...
SergioPc's solution didn't help async to go away in my case, really.

Ummm... Am a lil lost here..The activesync issue you referin to.. is the one wher it automatically pops in the background.. right ??!?!
If thats true.. Doesnt elias active sync killer application take care of this on its own ?!?!..
Or is this issue somethin entirely different !?!

Elias Active Sync killer does not always work.
However, I tried the method suggested by the OP and it works. Thanks.

Elias Actsynckiller close real (!!) Activesync sessions when it over (unplug usb cable or disconnect bluetooth connection..)
But it's not work for spontaneus (!!) Activesync pop up ...

Works perfect for me, thanks. You can change the value in fact in almost everything you like (i changed it to something like 'on pc name change' or something like that) and it did the trick also )

sergiopc method didnt work for me, using beta4 udks rom.
i just accepted that not all methods work and just made the activesync exclusive!

I've read through this thread and I'm still unsure about what issue it's supposed to solve...
Could you clarify the issue please, then I will try the fix on my Diamond and report back on whether it works.

There are two issues with active sync...
1) when you connect your device to the your computer (via usb cable / bluetooth) and active sync starts automatically... but when you unplug or disconnect active sync does not stop automatically.. you have to do it manually..
The solution for this is elias AsyncKiller.. once you install it.. it kills the active sync conenction when you unplug the device from the computer..
2) sometimes, even without you connecting your device to any computer.. active sync pops up and runs in the background.. it does not sync anything but just keeps running in the background..
This solution given in this thread is for this problem..

Thanks for clarifying! I already use AsyncKiller and I have never had this second problem with any ROM.

I also never had it in the rom i have been usins from quite sometime... But have suddenly started facing it.. Must have cooked somethin rom..
