Who do you think is the Iron Chef here?
28 views and no replies, huh?
I'll bite.
I like ROMS from Agent 47, gtrab, Itje and Wild Child.
It's difficult to pick one becuase I have used ROMS from each of these chefs and found them to be excellent work.
I think support from the chef is also paramount in picking the iron chef.
At the moment I'm running Agent's valkyrie 2.4 firestorm
smaberg..
his rom is the only one in which i never have to say ..damn,,,
for me, it'd have to be a brawl between gtrab, and itje.
I have used ROM's from Itje, Agent_47, Jackleung, Smaberg and NRGZ. I would say it's really hard to choose which among them is the best as all of them seems to cook better and better ROM's. I guess it all boils down as to which one you want to keep. I would like to keep all but i only have one x1. Guess i need to buy a few...lol!
Jack's rom, still there. Haven't flashed for about a month now.
Why so stable!!!
Oh yeah, I haven't done a soft-reset for a while now, week atleast.
Are there any cooked ROMs that basically have no "added" bugs on top of the ones that are already in R3A and WinMo?
I just don't have time to flash multiple times, though I wish I could.
I really appreciate any advice.
I personally like gtrab's rom,
There are so many great ROMs and iron chefs, but personally prefer itje's Touch-IT!
i was first a user of itje
but there is one major problem in all his roms
when i open opera or internet explorer and log on to xda developers i can enter details from my hardware keyboard..i have to use onscreen..while in smaberg and in agent_47 it works that way..so i use them.!!
I think there is a dead race between itje, smaberg, nrg and agent47.
Itje and smaberg have made very stabile roms. Agent47 and nrg has a lot of eye-candy in their roms.
They are all my favourite, i cant just choose one of them.
itje is the iron chef
Imo Itje and Agent_47 are the best with ALL the other big chefs are right behind them. They have all great work.
Btw, VNMenIeu, Love how u say that Itje is the iron chef but u use gtrab's rom

I got headache to choose, to keep my rom up to date!I'm still using custel 2.5. A lot of newer roms nowadays. Very positive growth.... Custel 2.5, Elf 2.1, Faria, Black 3.5 With Live Removed and Extra Storage, Black Dymond, vp3G's, LVSW, dutty's v2. and so many . Give me advice please.
Well duh, mine of course!
Seriously though, one of the best things about this place is so many ROMs to choose from. Each has it's merits (and it's quirks!). Just pick one, try it on and see how it fits you.
P.S. You missed one flavor in your list. Sleuth255 has put together a very nice LVSW variant as well. When in doubt, check the WIKI. I just updated it today, in fact.
Last weeks I installed almost all of them and (non-scientifically!) benchmarked their performance... See my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1284362&postcount=15
My conclusion: they all are stabile and have more or less the same performance (I think because they have more or less the same core.... sorry chiefs).
The one you could pick is the one with the extra's and addons you want...
My personal experience: LVSW Sleuth edition is very good!
At the moment I'm trying Faria..
i tried every rom (including black dymond). when it comes to stability, nothing compares to lvsw and the derivates. i use elf 2.1. nice combination of features, working bt, fast and STABLE.
what i dont need is a pimp machine with soft reset every two hours...
peter
I think mine is the best.. Actually, mine is unique in how it's built. I did cook some minor (and vital) things into the rom itself, but most is added via. ExtRom customization with all cab's modified to allow removal So, if you want Live, it's there. If you don't, just remove it. etc.. It's a different way to cook, and one that requires a whole lot of CAB modification.
My Live cab is different than any other cab on this site. I hand modified it to install in the way I wanted, and work the way I wanted. Personally, I think it's the best cab around -- and exclusively for Elf 2.1.
thank you. Very good benchmarking and very hard work! I'll try LVSW Sleuth edition.
I have used Elf 1.0 . It is very nice and marvelous build. But I got problem with battery charging. Then I tried black dymond and faria yesterday. But I have to go back to CUSTEL, because I feel more stable and more memory. Just now I tried Black 3.5 With Live Removed and Extra Storage and now I test Elf 2.1.

I like my ROM.
CUSTEL still won Program and memory space. Faria, LVSW Sleuth edition and Elf 2.1 won the speed. LSLW based won the most stable. Which one do you prefer most? Do you agree with this conclusion?
Elf V2.1 works for me
I haven't tried all so I can't compare. Indeed I have only flashed my JASJAM yesterday for the first time with Elf V2.1. So far it has been working great for me. For those who has been hesitating to take the plunge, I would say read the WIKI. Make sure you know what you are doing. Then do it. I did that and I am a happy man. And I am sure many of these ROMs are all great. We (and MS) are lucky to have this great community to support this WM platform.
Cheers.
I agree with you. Their hard works are very great. Everybody in this forum and out there can't deny this.
LVSW 19-05-2007 Sleuth edition and Elf2.1 are very nice to try. So I test Elf 2.1 first. Sleuth still on downloading... rapidshare got a little bit slow.
cool topic
What a great thread to read peoples summary experiences. This kind of thread would have been previously scoffed at with ' go read for yourself ' replies by some that have left this forum except to throw the odd spot remark.
I am currently using FARIA after trying some of the Black and LVSW variants. I like FARIA a lot because of the addin utils, and am not concerned about only 20Mb free after boot. I make calls and use TomTom, not much more.
The MAJOR thing that I like about FARIA is that now my car charger works, whereas all the other ROMs didn't allow the car charger to work - go figure!
Thanks to all the contributors and chefs who hold true and know when to reply and when to ignore some of the less experienced users questions. Its about COMMUNITY, not superiority. Thanks, and may your sheep be blessed with a thousand lambs.
I like FARIA especially on startup, date/time finishing and speed. But it's addons take much memory so I have to reset so many times especially after using MAPKING and WIFI. I'll like FARIA if it a lite version with an option addons.
Hi,
I think tom and meschle should join forces, making a fast, well performing (meschle) rom with good applications with an awesome GUI (tom).
Tom's roms always have amazing bootscreens, themes, and an overall very nice GUI, whilst they lack performance.
Meschle's roms always perform well and are very fast, but they lack the visual aattractiveness as Tom's roms.
Therefore, combining the two would produce an all rounded super rom!
What do you all think?
you can do it, you re the man!
no not me, meschle and tom!
Agreed. But there would still have to be some compromises made as rom can't be 100% as beautiful as Tom's and 100% fast as Meschle's.
Whats wrong with the new Vanilla ? It is just perfect...
Just install HtcHome or what you prefer for your design change bootscreen if you like.
Can it be better ? I guess not
can't find the keyboard icon and skin as in B&B
I don't qgree with you uzzy.
First of all, they are not the only coockers.
More, everybody has its own style: you mention the main difference between these two one but the purpose is to have everybody having its onw "touch" in roms.
Even if it is WM, the coockers are not MS

I agree with you this sener.
I think it would be a lot more effective if we filles the wiki with so much useful information that everybody could cook his own ROMs. The only thing we might need is a kitchen with a better gui. I used both of their ROMs and like both for the stated reasons. Since I couldn't decide which to use I cooked my own ROM.
You'll have to spend about 50 hours of reasearch to be able to create your own version if you are a beginner, with a little help and a lot of computer experience you can handle it in 2 hours or less.
Fast and super stylish won't work, compare XP and Vista!

If you don't like it you don't have to use it, but why deny other people the opportunity to experience something new?
Just because you don't like the idea, doesn't mean you have use your first post ever to stop tom and meschle making a rom together......its their choice, not yours.
And also, where did i say they are the only cookers? - I didn't, so why say "First of all, they are not the only coockers". This fact is totally irrelevant.
I mentioned Tom and Meschle because they are the BEST cookers for Artemis (Not the only ones).
Oh and btw, learn to spell.
Well, they are the best cookers in this forum that publish their work. I'm pretty sure there are guys (or girls?) out there that laugh about the beginner mistakes people are making here.
I'm not saying that I'm better than any other cooker out there, but I never published any ROM for legal reasons and because I don't want 1000 questions/answers for each ROM I produce. No thanx, don't got the time.

I agree on this one!!
If somebody could provide a good kitchen with a better GIU, I would be able to learn to cook myself.
Now I just don't know how to start... you need to read/combine several threads to be able to get the info you need to start to learn...
If just some of those master cookers, can make a decent guide for us, we'll be able to do it ourselfs...
Hopefully one day somebody would do this guide and kitchen with a better gui, cause I really hope I can learn to cook
Believe me, cooking is not very difficult, (in my opinion) the Artemis' Wiki is crap if you are a beginner and want to learn to cook. I recently found out how this works and was amazed how fast you can cook a ROM. I'm currently busy at University but next week my tests are over and I will start creating my tutorials with pictures and videos.
You need HyperCoreKitchen, OK Package Creator and a official ROM, that's it. As soons as you know how to do it you can create your own ROM in minutes. I'll make a big thread out of it, you won't miss it.
I don't want to offend those who have spent a lot of time creating tutorials and writing into the wiki (thanx for your work guys!), but there are almost no all-in-one tutorials. I read in the Kaiser, Hermes, Artemis and some other wikis and forums to get all the informations I needed. Basically if you read the Hermes Cookbook and use OK Package Creator instead of doing all the package stuff it states there then you know what to do.

Thanks mate, really looking forward to your superguide!!
I've tried various ROMs All the original 1.35's, 1.37's and the 1.93. The last Hong Kong WWE release 1.93.831.1 didn't really live up to my expectations either. Many of the cooked ROMs are a real improvement, but I found Swiftblades ROMs to be the most stable and best performing ones upto now. Just wanted to share this with you. 3.2 is working so well that I'm not really sure if I'll change to his 4.0 ROM. But ah, for the sake of trying I might flash it anyway...
We all appreciate your opinion, but why opening a Thread just for it?!?!?!?!
You could leave your feedback inside SwiftBL's thread...
Sometimes I just don't understand these people....
HastaSSSS

As the thread is started +1 for me. Swiftblades are kick ass ROM
I have tested many many so far, and for now, they are the most stable...
Many thanks to all our cookers, I love you
Dutty's Rom's for teh win... every time...
Dont like Swift's Volume Tweak that makes every MP3 sound like garbage cuz of the elevated GAIN...
another pointless thread
yes guys lets close this thread I can see this getting ridiculous soon, every rom is different every person tastes is different, I dont force or cookers force any one to use thier rom, All I can say every cook spend a lot of time cooking to get the most of our devices so all cooks should be appreciated, Wethere one rom is gooder than the other
Missing "AppToDate" which is available in the TLR ROMs, in my opinion. Otherwise, you have install new ROMs and all programs again and again to be your device updated...
Been a avid lurker/user since mid 07 when i first had a hermes, those were the days..... the chefs being jasjamming, schaps in his early days and many others, I didnt use to flash so much, because i believe then, the roms, although older were more stable (wm6 that is), now the point of this post is, Im not a great lover of manilla, and I love to play games, use opera mini and use notepad/word, my kids love Flip It, PDApaint, Whats the best OLD rom, although great chefs like JLA and Josh have made great 6.1 roms, I believe the older the better... I remember Black Satin by JasJamming and his black series..... Can you guys recommend a real GOOD old Rom? its got to be able to run Games and all the above and the wi-fi gotta run good too, I look forward to your help

I don't quite see how an old ROM is better in terms of running apps and games. I frequently play games, surf the web etc. and I almost always use the cutting edge ROMs. I can clearly say the newer ROMs are better almost in any terms. I said almost because there is always a minor quirk somewhere. But that also holds for old ROMs.
By the way, new doesn't mean Manilla. I don't like bloated interfaces myself, and I prefer my ROM slim, fast and responsive. There are a couple of light ROMs out there at the moment. I strongly recommend you to try one of them. I find http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458843 to be one of the best at the moment.
thanks burkay, i have about three to flash, basically that rom looks the works, and its based on josh's rom, so i know it will be a class rom...
edit: this rom is too perfect. im keeping this one
erm, flashed again, now found a superb rom, its windows 6.1, the name is in my signature. post closed lol
Nice job here, what can i say : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470757
But, i hope to not be miss understanded, all users need something like a 1-10 number of every rom.
For me , for example Natay 2.2 is counted like 10+ ( rapid, light ( 140/60 Mb free) from me, best battery life time > 3days , with radio DiamondRadio 1.09.25.23 ).
Hope down , it will be opinions for all the roms, from different users.
Have a nice day all, who read this.
Shaks.P v4.10 UC 5.2.21042 Light
i think it will be udk's and NATALY's rom
before this thread is locked, wanted to say It's this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498873
hands down
First a couple of guys will say "there's no best, dude, you have to try all by yourself", then a moderator or admin will pop out saying the same and lock the thread.
Cloudy v1.0 is very good. Stable and fast !!
For me it are AZATOR and NATALY.
The others are too far away from stock.
Dutty
Hi, I have tried some, but Dutty's latest is the one I settled with.
It's proven, reliable, and stable. From the numbers of replies and view on Dutty's thread, I am guessing it's the most used ROM. I am sure there are faster ones, but I got many programes on my device already, I am too lazy to switch now.
It would be gerat if we could take a poll. It shouldn't say WHAT IS THE BEST ROM? but WHAT ROM DO YOU LIKE (or USE)? is enough.

Thats where the UC roms come in. Flashing a new ROM doesnt get any easier with restoring everything in the process.
New roms are what keeo the Diamond alive, why would u not want to keep something fresh and updated?
Im takin bets on how long b4 this thread is closed :d
PEOPLE USE THERE DIAMONDS FOR DIFFENT THINGS SO OBVIOUSLY PEOPLE OPINIONS ARE GUNNA DIFFER, THERE ARE A FEW ROMS I LIKE, SWTOS'S NAKED ROMS ARE GREAT AND SO IT UdK'S R4 ROM, makeveral'S BsB 6.5 ROM HAS ALL THE MARKINGS OF BEING THE FIRST GR8 WINMOB 6.5 ROM ON THE DIAMOND
The best rom for me to take the manila and menus rhodium, so for me the best have not yet released, if itje fixes bugs your rom 4.3 will undoubtedly be the best.
Very Stupid!
Hi all....
I just want to say that there is a reason why you all think this thread is going be closed, and so it should be!
There is NO BEST ROM! If you named the thread: 'Which ROM do you prefer and why', then you may get some good replies and some good pointers as to why people prefer certain ROMS - Speed, reliability...etc...
This thread is pointless!! I hate it when there is a reply saying 'Duttys ROM is the best' - How does this help anyone???
Why do you think it's the best? If people gave a decent reply then it would be much better.
nataly 2.5 ftw
simple, fast, best battery, lots of space and ram, customizable

I agree. I like the Xbmod Manila, and the Touch-it 4.3 is super fast and stable. If all the small bugs can be fixed in the next release, it would be my favorite ROM for sure.
