Whenever I travel abroad and turn off my connection, my battery lasts for 48 hours without any problems vs 8 in the UK.
I use push e-mail, so I really do not need the 3G speed, they just drop in fine.
I googled all over the web I've not been able to find a auto turn off program yet?
I am on ROM Black Magic
Thx
I use Bandswitch on both my 8525s..
do a search and you will find the file.

Hi,
"Schaps 12 buttons with 3G band switch button" Works fine for most ppls.
Before you can install it you should study his thread a little bit, you may need too kill a certain registry string berfore.

this wil do the trick
Even better, you can do this without third party tools.
Just go to your phone options.
Select the tab "band" and switch the network type from "auto" to "gsm".
Did this help you?

make sure you kill your data connection before hitting ok to make the change..
That's exactly what I do. Start-Settings-Phone-Band-GSM.
what do you gain with just edge vs 3g?

My reason ist to save battery consumption
edge vs 3G
The main reasone i upgraded from the 8125 to the 8525 is so that while my phone was getting push updates from my exchange server callers would goto my voicemail without any warning. This is a problem with Edge voice or data not both...
OK, Scnapps does work w/ BlackMagic Roms
So I'll use the manual switch, it sounds fine
Thanks for the help, this 3G has been a total waste of time for me.
the only issue, I think all my GSM types have 3G:
GSM (900+1800) +UMTS2100
OR
GSM (1900+850)+ UMTS (1900+850)
OR
gsm (900+1800) +UMTS850
OR
GSM gsm (900+1800) +UMTS850+2100
Nothing without UMTS?
All:
I just got a Cingular 8525 and immediately upgraded it to WM6 (it had WM5 on it for about an hour). I am in a 3g covered area but I do not think I am getting a 3g connection on the phone. I have the big upper case U in a box, and then I have the signal indicator with an E over it. This makes me believe that I am connected to Cingular's edge network. Also, if I am on the phone and I try to run a sync with activesync the phone tells me that I have a voice call in progress. Any suggestions? AT&T support was clueless.

The U indicator is UMTS - that is 3G. However, most of the newer ROMs replace it with a 3G icon. What ROM did you use? Anyway, also, you may try the reg tweak to enable the BAND tab in the Settings > Phone menu. You can find that tweak in the wiki.

I have the same thing with my rogers phone, what I'm guessing is the phone is designed to pick whatever signal is strongest, (which is usually Edge) and not often-rescan for UTMS/3G.
If you google and download Band Switcher, you can force UTMS/3G at your leisure.
I wasnt aware the USA had 3G yet? I was always told that Edge was the best they had out there from a few mobile operators in the UK.
What Radio stack are you using?
Cingular, now known as "The New AT&T (AT&T)" has 3G up and running in some of it's markets.
No one seems to be answering this question.

We have quite a bit of UMTS and HSDPA coverage here in Massachusetts on Cingular/AT&T.
hi! does anyone have a working globe gprs settings for Cingular 8525? Netwiz is not working on the Cingular 8525, it says it is only designed for dopod devices only..
Globelines
Bro you can call their hotline 919-8888, they will really help you.

SPL 2.10 Olipro
SuperCID
Radio: 1.54.30.10
4gb Sandisk microSDHC
what's your rom?
I'm using different WM6.1 roms, and everytime i flash a new rom, i use either Netwiz or Connection Setup, and they automatically configure my MMS/GPRS. Works everytime.
I'm using a post-paid Globe sim.
I think there's no globe gprs settings 'coz every service provider they have their own gprs settings.
The easiest way that you run Connection Setup, it will configure your GPRS settings automatically.

For those people in Australia using Telstra and wanted the 3.5G radio support, I finally got my hands on one that support the Telstra NextG HTC Diamond.
Base Rom: 1.38.841.5 WWE
Radio Rom: 1.00.25.06 (not the same version from previous post as this one is NextG specific)
I am sure most of the people would like to try this rom... if someone can show me the way the extract these roms I will be more than happy to post it for testing.
yeah this would be awesome to see if it will make the 850Mhz 3G radio work on any Diamond...!
I am noob in extracting roms... any ideas how to do it?
This would be good to try, but since it has the same version number as the one posted in the Radios thread, I wonder if/how it is different?
I will mark it as AUS version.
But before anything happen, I do need to know how to extract this out and make it work for everyone. Any ideas?
Dude you will make everyone happy if we can activate 850 3G.
I know... that's why I post this up...
My whole point is I have no idea what I needed to do to get the radio rom out.
If anyone can point me the right direction, I will post the rom out as soon as I can.

Sweet - Saw a Telstra flyer for it. Does it have an extra tab in TF3D called "My places"? If so, is it in place of the Programs tab, or is it seperate?
How's the performance of TF3D and the device in general on the Telstra device mate?

i will release the telstra ROM sometime tonight / tomorrow, just needs patching to remove the Region ID, working with cmonex now.
Thanks Guys, is it possable to also get the rom, rom and radio split as original without region tampering....can be kept as a backup for those in Aus that may want to revert back after cooking.
Is the bootloader available as well.
Again many thanks, you guys and your experties is allways appreciated.

Go to Setting / Phone, under the Band Tab, choose WCDMA and UTMS (850)+GSM(900+1800)
If you still can get signal and get a H then you are winning.
under the HongKong Rom
In Australia with telstra Nextg service
greyed box h and 3testra in tflo home provider spot setting are both auto
under phone settings only UMTS(900+12000 + GSM (900+1800) avail
set to the WCDMA and UMTS 900 from auto..
have a greyed box h and 3testra in tflo home provider spot
switched back to auto got 3g in grey box then after 20 seconds now have E in box have only testra under service in tflo home
Now under auto and even running connections setup I cant get back to my original greyed box h and 3testra in tflo home provider spot and have E in box and Telstra as provider under auto.[Have even set 3telstra as preffered over telstra in network band settings
edit:
set provider to manual ...chose 3telstra over telstra...then conection setup for setting etc ....ok [have H] then went back and chose auto now still have H and 3telstra with all options now on auto
should H be in grey box or just H
I also have the HK ROM with a Telstra NextGen USIM, and here is what I think is happening.
Telstra has 3 networks:
* Telstra NextGen 3G UMTS - 850MHz - Mobile network Code 505-01
* Telstra GSM - 900/1800 MHz (EDGE/GPRS) - Mobile Network Code 505-01
* Telstra 3G UMTS - 2100MHz (JV network with 'Three') Mobile Network Code 505-06 (code is shared with Hutchinson '3')
The best way to tell exactly what Telstra network you are on is by looking at the Network name in the 3DTF Home Screen
Telstra (with an E or G icon) is the 900/1800MHz GSM network
Telstra (with 3G or H icon) is the NextG 850MHz network
3Telstra (with 3G or H icon) is the '3' joint venture 2100MHz network
I am eagerly awaiting the new Telstra ROM or at least the radio ROM. So my question is, has anyone got (a non-Telstra Touch Diamond) working on 850MHz yet ? Does the new radio ROM give access to Telstra 850MHz ?
I have a Telstra branded HTC Touch Pro 2 T7381 which i have put my 3 prepaid sim into. I can use the phone for calls no problems but i can no longer access any internet features. It has no icons or links to Planet 3 and when i open a browser it does not connect even though i have a data plan on my sim.
Can someone tell me what im doing wrong or need to do in order to get rid of the Telstra stuff and enable me to access the internet via my 3 sim.
Well, firstly, putting a SIM card in won't magically make any icons to Planet3 appear. You can visit Planet 3 by going to http://three.net.au. But first we need to get your net working.
Have you run the connection wizard? What access point are you using? Make sure that there is a Planet3 access point setup, and not just "The Internet".
Reports I've heard are that Telstra are responsible for the repairs of the TP2 and as such, if you return it to them, it must have the Telstra ROM on it or the warranty is void. So just be careful if you want to flash the phone to a new ROM.
As to get 'rid of the Telstra stuff', you can try this link: http://www.watsons-online.com/HTC_Touch_HD_tweaking_files/Removing_Telstra_customisation.pdf which was recommended on another site. I haven't used it so I can't vouch for how good it is, plus it seems it is for an older version, Touch HD, so it may or may not work. One user said that it didn't work and that it screwed up TF3D. So try it at your own risk.
Im wondering if the device supports bands OTHER than telstras. Let us know how ya go. Does it have a H up near the clock?
Get three working on T7381 Telstra TP2
Hi, I hope your connected with internet working by now.
Just in case I received my TP2 today.
I went here http://xseries.three.com.au/3/three/mobiles_plans/3SIM/FAQs/USIM_Guide.pdf
and got the settings.
Basically go to the phone settings. then to Communications. Then click on set up data connection. Select "Add a new modem connection" then name the connection "Planet3". Under select a modem change it to Cellular Line (3gprs, 3G). Click next set access point name to 3services. Then click next, then click finish (don't need any settings on the last page). Now you have to use the IE browser and point it to the following webpage. http://three.net.au/hb/htct7272/HutchKey
and your done... you can turn the data connection on and off as you need it.
