I mean come on, cant you be original?

Or was my utility just reverse engineered and ripped off and then renamed by CUSTEL??????

Have to be honest, i agree with JJ completley on this.
Its one thing all working on YOUR OWN version of ROMS, its another entirely to rip another members work of to the point, short of it having a "SAVE" button instead of bling, its the same friggen app.
Very poor form, and desperate in my opinion. Also, your latest rom is full of bugs, bad links, apps not working right...
Spend more time testing, than you do stealing someones work, and you might end up with better results.

If its truly open source... where is the source code?

I just fired up pimp my black v0.2...the tab ordering is exactly the same...95 % of the functions are the same and worded the same. The keyboard tab is new....that is about it. And the source code is missing?
Not very "OPEN" if you ask me...I'd like to compare it to JJ's source code.

heh so its cool for you to monitor my thread see that im playing with caches for my next release then just hours after me posting about it you decide to release cabs to beat me to the punch. Lets see strip your rom of the useless bull**** to where it is the exact same as mine with a different theme and build. Hmm need I keep going? Don't ***** because I post an app that actually works with enhanced features and properly coded and try to compare it to your step above copy and paste pos. We can continue this battle of wits but you are obviously unarmed so I wouldn't recommend it...

[App request] Transparent keyboard

When I first saw this picture of teksoft's new keyboard I thought they had finally made a transparent full screen keyboard, but on then I saw it was just a keyboard skin.
This brings me to my request - Can a developer make a transparent semi-opaque full screen keyboard that still let you see the text underneath, and that was quickly minimizable for navigation purposes. The typed text would pass through to the app underneath.

Obviously a talented programmer would do the transparency better, but the idea is that it would combine the advantaged of a fullscreen keyboard with still being able to see everything that you are typing.

No, they can't as of now many have been trying to figure that out.

When the SIP loads, it does it in a new window, which is why you see your current window move up a bit, so even it was transparent, it would be on a black background. If anything, it would have to be a flash keyboard, that would take a snapshot of the current window, and make it a transparent background for the keyboard. But, even if that was accomplished, you would probably get frustrated with the load time.

Could the SIP (windows 2) (the part in my mock-up with the cursor and space bar keys) generate a 3rd windows, which would be a semi-transparent overlay over Window 1 (the original word document for example)?
Edit: here is an example of "click-through" code for the desktop. Can Windows Mobile do the same?

It just occurred to me that HTC Home is semi-transparent (you can see the today screen wallpaper through it) so its clearly possible on the WM platform.

There are a lot of apps and plugins that have transparent items. The problem isn't with making something transparent, but with making the SIP transparent. How about you develop it?

I think the SIP does not have to be transparent, but should call a 3rd window (with the QWERTY keys) which is.

I wish I could, but I cant justify £100 on Visual Studio (the student version), and the free solutions do not have enough hand-holding and code examples for a rank amateur like me.

I have now posted a message in the pocketcm forum, but I hope a less committed developer who have not already invested a lot of time in another app can step up.

As already mentioned somewhere else, as far as I know, transparency isn't possible.
We are not talking here about making a screenshot and showing the keyboard on top (or anything else), like HTC home does, or like PocketCM Keyboard 0.16 does to support transparent feedback image.
The issue is to "refresh" the background behind, when you type for instance, and that's not possible: if the SIP is visible, it covers the screen, so underneath windows won't be painted (actually the OS won't ask the windows to paint themselves).
On Windows (non mobile), they added support for it in Windows 2000 and perfected it later, on windows mobile, the same feature isn't supported.
Anyway, even if it was possible, I don't really think it would make a usable SIP, but that's just my opinion.

So all windows transparency in windows mobile is fake? If this is the case obviously the project is doomed.
Does anyone else know different?

doubt .net would performe well enough not sure how even pure c++ would performe

like htc home as the background is static

Pretty hard but possible? When we are talking text entry one update a second or half a second would be fine. Because the keyboard is fullscreen one wont be able to interact with the background app except via the keyboard in any case.

Ok I'm a programming noob but lets look at transcriber, you can have the sip open yet it still shows everything on the screen and you can write overtop, is it not possible to overlay an image in transcriber mode and "blend" them together. I'm sure there are problems in the transparent updating, but it just sounds like such a small issue to hold it back even though it most likely is quite complex. I personally believe having a transparent keyboard, or transparent controls in general on small touchscreens would be very useful if done right.
The key I believe is being able to access both the keyboard and the screen underneath at the same time, perhaps with touch and hold or double tap commands, but I totally think this is worth figuring out. Sometimes I really wish I took programming...

I believe this is a developer tool, ie netcf library for use with visual studio or similar program. This should enable developers to make applications universal to all resolutions that will flow nicely with manila interface. Very interested to see, as I am trying to learn a bit of programming myself. For resizing new packages that use xml I suggest programatix' xmlgui tool
cant wait to see some applications developed or updated with this. if it is easy enough to use, I would love to make some to replace some of the custom mortscripts that I am using in my ROMs now

I noticed the rate it which it scrolls though is very slow on my Omnia. Is this something that will be corrected?

Really weel done! But there is some work left to do...
I tried the Checkbox button. The text entered int the text property isn't displayed eihter in design mode or runtime mode,
Furhtermore, the control looks ok as long as the backgrounde is white, but not as goowd when (as in my case) having a background whit another color or a picture.

Welcome to .NET You'll need to override your OnPaint method to get semi-decent background images without either flicker or that white you're seeing. Another thing which MS will take years to implement no doubt.

Added a note, then went back to edit title, confirm save box appeared behind onscreen keyboard, hid keyboard and the confirm change popup disappeared and app crashed.
Other than that, nice simple app.

Unfortunately this is quite difficult and beyond my ability... Hopefully at some point HTC will redesign Manila with plug-ins in mind. Until then... we can only bug them to do it!

Thought this would have a Manila look and feel. Still, good work.
Shame you're going to end development here as I know a lot of users would like a more workable and full-featured task management in Leo.

I hope HTC will open manila up a bit more to the devs. I know in theory how to do it, but it's a lot of work like you say. If I had the time I might have a bash at it. First job will be to tweak the layout xml (mode9). Anyways...

Very nice app! Maybe you could add a simple category editor and the possibility to pick a category from a drop down box when you edit a task.

Categories for the time being are generated automatically based on what can be found in tasks... A nicer editor is my current priority though

A really nice application. Congrats. I would love to be able to use selected text options in the edit field (long press in the memo box) so I could copy, cut and paste. This is something I really miss and everybody too.
Additionally it would be great if you could scroll with your finger not using the vertical scrollbar but directly in the text (just like you can in Message Compose in Manila)

This app looks simple and spot on in my mind. Cannot imagine why HTC has left out task capabilities in HTC Sense (and why the standard today plugin task app in windows mobile is so basic)... anyway: this would make out the perfect fit for me, IF it had possibility to filter out future tasks (so that only todays due - or overdue tasks would be shown). Great work anyway!
... but "please please" as for the filtering option

Oh my, not another tab in Manila! Information about tasks on the Home tab that is clickable and allows to launch an appropriate application is the way to go for sure.

ipcalc

One app I would like to see when WP7 comes out is a good, functional, yet nice looking IP calculator. This is the one that I use for my class, but it isn't for WM nor (obviously) for WP7. http://www.radmin.com/products/utilities/ipcalculator.php
I have tried getting someone to port the iPhone version http://www.addressplus.net/iphone/ipcalc/ because it looks pretty, but have gotten no responses either here or over at modaco. If someone could make a great ip calculator for WP7 then you would definitely have at least one buyer when WP7 comes out lol. (a WM 6.5.5 version to tide me over would be great too lol)

It's all working pretty well at the moment. Clicking any of the buttons will bring up a popup list of the values to select from and you can drag the sliders to adjust the settings as well.
I'm thinking of setting it up so when you swipe the screen left/right it will go to the previous/next subnet and maybe adding a main page where you can select from a class/classless calculator.
If I have sometime later tonight I'll try to make a video of it running in the emulator.

Not bad, the idea is there. I think you need some more spacing between elements to make it proper touch friendly, but looks like we got a handy app for sys-admins here!

Yeah. There's definitely not much room for fat fingers on there right now :-( I think the lists could use a little more padding between the values, and maybe there could be a little more space between the buttons and the Subnet Bits slider. It's difficult to tell what's too close for sure without playing with it on an actual device, but I should probably take another look at the design guidelines (I remember reading something about the recommended minimum spacing between elements).
Anyways, here's a quick video of it in action. The emulator runs kinda crappy on my laptop because I don't have hardware assisted virtualization, so I apologize if anything looks choppy (could just be my amateur code too, hehe).

Yup. I added the main page where you can select the type of calculator. Right now I'm pulling out the code that can be shared between the two calculators into a separate class.
I rearranged the way you select the subnet class and enter the IP address as well. The class selection is now a button with a popup menu like the Subnet Mask, etc, and the IP address is now a single textbox as opposed to the 4 separate textboxes.
I'll post an updated video once I have everything working again.

Yup. Here's a quick screenshot of what it's looking like now. Now that the official pivot controls are out, I'm toying with the idea of making the calculator mode selection a pivot...

looking good can't wait, sadly I have to wait until verizon gets WP7, but when It does (hopefully when the LTE 4G is active) then I will definitely be getting this app . One thing I might put, instead of Classed and Classless, I would put Classful and Classless. I was taught that it was refered to as classful when all the subnets have the same mask. Other than that, looks awesome!!!

I suppose I need to register for MarketPlace first, and then it would be available at the release of WP7.
In regards to WM6.5...I'd need to rewrite the application since WP7 development is a different beast. I'll look into the amount of work that would be required to port it, and if it's not too bad, I'll release it in the WM Development thread as well.
