How about adding somekinda device info at the device's forum-- like when you open, lets say, Touch HD forum you have a small link at the top which will redirect you to www.pdadb.net specification page with Touch HD specs in it!!!
Mainly because I see all kind of devices on forum and I wish to know their specs, and opening a new tab & writing all the required info in google, is sometimes to hard!!

Hi,
I would like to request a feature which I think would be real help either on XDA-developers.com or wiki.xda-developers.com[
There is an excellent matrix of differences between the different HTC models & the names different phone providers give them.
I've tried using searching terms like 'comparison' or 'differences' (between XDA's) to find it, but the search engine does not seem to be speaking my language.
1.
I think having a better main page hotlink to such a comparison Matrix would be REALLy helpful, PARTICULARLY as the matrix is (hopefully) updated regularly and has lots of hotlinks to the various models.
2.
The second request is to somehow display details in a list of phones as they are released so that I can see whether the XDA I'm waiting for (or similar) has been released.
Thanks for an EXCELLENT site
Hi,
There seems to be a lot on the wiki regarding the handsets, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on software for the handsets.
There's the "Must have tools" page, but I personally would appreciate a page listing software by category.
I am therefore proposing to produce a page called "Software" with a list of categories such as
Diary/Calendar
Contacts
File Managers
Games
GUI Enhancement
Instant Messaging/Chat
System Tools
Today
etc.....
Then, each of these pages would have a list of sub categories with software titles listed underneath, so for example "Instant Messaging" would have IM+, Skype, Pocket IRC etc... under it and each of these would then have it's own page on which to include features, details of compatibility with handsets and WM versions and links with where to get them from (possibly even links to related forum topics).
Obviously I will start from my Wizard/Hemes and the software I have used, so I shall apologise for that in advance, but if I start adding this will anyone complain?
Or would it be appreciated?
Any thoughts, comments or ideas (and things I have overlooked, like this existing) are appreciated.

One question for you would be whether the software section would be a cross device section or under a specific device eg Hermes or Wizard?
Click to collapse
Cross device, totally.
The way I look at it is that most of the software is written to work on "Any" WM device so it should therefore be written generically. I'd then try to include a compatibility list of "This software is confirmed (not) working on..." for people to add their devices to as well as notes on how to get it working if their may be trouble.
For example, Skype works on most, but not so well on a Hermes unless you use the beta.
Just wish I knew more about the advanced features on the wiki software xda-devs uses....
Had a play the other day and at least one other person has linked something into it so far...
Games and Emulators page.
Guess we will see how it goes....
I'd love to help, but I'm mainly a MediaWiki guy, is there a list of basic editing procedures and stuff for the software xda-developer wiki uses?
Hi all, i don't know if it has been asked already but it would be great to have a light black&white forum "Development and Hacking" easy to load and browse from our PPCs/SPs exactly like the iPhone's app called Installer... ok, without all the "sources/install/uninstall" thing, only app name (with very short description like the one we can see if we mouseover a topic's name) and, clicking on it, the author description, link to the Dev&Hack forum article, link to the download, little screenshot or animated gif. And a tiny search engine (no Google)
I know there are websites made like that already like freewareppc or softonic which use RSS, but i was thinking about a more Installer-like webApp.

.. but there's probably something like that already, so i ask you guys and gals where can i find such a service and if you think it would be nice or totally useless
TBH this would take ages to compile and program and with every different model of HTC h/set out there I dont think anyone would have the resources or time to do this. I do really like the idea though kudos for that
Why not look at the App To Date over at MoDaCo?
livefastdiefun87, i don't think it should be that difficult to filter the threads (for example a "[release]" string in the thread title) as links to their first posts (the ones with descriptions, screenshots and downloads) to the user (maybe it's enough for the releaser to keep an eye on the format). For example A_C's releases already have the "required" things (first post: description and download, second post: faqs).
With a little help from any developer i think that even with pocket ie (although a client would be better) we can retrieve every release easier. Then, in order to explore the apps, the user can jump to the ordinary forum.
Maybe i'm making it too simple, but it wont be bad anyway. I'm thinking about a mobile-only road, no ads, no banners, black and white with hypertext
There are several similar threads in other device forums so I thought why not start one here. If the mods think this is in the wrong section or a bad idea please delete.
Okay so as of the time of this posting there is no "Galaxy S3 XBMC" specific version so I'm using one of the generic builds. "xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20120714.apk" is the name of the one I found. Link
Works:
Pretty much everything "works". I haven't found any features that just refuse to execute.
Bugs:
mkv video playback is extremely choppy. Sound is perfect.
tiny menu items sometimes have to be long pressed slightly before they register. (In other words, fat fingers beware).
*edit* - It looks like they were aware of this when they released and are encouraging skinners to rewrite skins for specific devices. There is already an included theme called "touched" that addresses many of these issues.
That's it for now. I'll keep monitoring this thread and post updates to the OP if possible.
Where is the link? I've been waiting years to get xbmc on android.
This is an app and should be in the themes and apps subforum.
I apologize. Mods, please place this in the correct section.
@busties link
Whats the point in having all the models of a manufacturer listed on main page? cant we have a simpler forum? Like list only samsung, lg, etc and inside those have the models like s3, s4 and so on. And all this junk nonsens images of devices, only to make the forum a horrible loading experience.
@Zedgor, please post your feedback and/or recommendations to XDA in this thread. Thanks.
On first visit we show top devices; then you can select "All" , "New", "Subscribed" etc. If you are planning on coming back often, we recommend subscribing to the device/forum you have and then using the subscribed tab - this is remembered by cookie. It will only show the device(s) you care about.
You can also search for your device in the box at the top of the page. This will take you directly to your device forum.
