if opera goes to a site it doesn't like, it will just crash. I check the running processes and it isn't running. I go to the start menu and try and run it again and it doesn't do anything! It isn't in the background...It's annoying having to reset the phone just to run opera again.. anyone have a fix or this happened to you before?
Yeah I had the same problem, gone back to using the old version mainly now, 9.5 seems to have stopped crashing since I disabled Opera Turbo in advanced settings though. If you've got it enabled try disabling it.
Edit: Just realised I'm talking about 9.7 beta, not sure if that feature's in 9.5 so you should probably ignore me
Opera Crashes
Hi.
I have the same problem. I thought that the problem was due to have Microsoft Net CF 3.5 intalled in the memory card but it still crashes after intall it on my HD...It's the Opera 9.5. Already tried the 9.7 beta but I have the same problem...
So if someone has the solution, you're wellcome!
I got this exact same, MAJOR problem.... A site which has flash / complex stuff like activex, or whatever, sometimes just sites with popups or somthing. BAM, opera 9.5 crashes.
It doesn't load anymore (sometimes) when started again. Any solutions?
Just the same problem on my HD. But I've found problems only with banks' websites.
had the same problem, after removing ati 3d driver the problem was gone
Don't have that driver, i guess. Any other clues?
What is the site which makes opera crash ? I'll check on mine if the same behavior happens
Also, what connection are you using ? 3G or Wifi ?
Flash plugin sometimes does that so try disabling Plugins from opera:config.
hi,
i got a similar problem, but it crash when I close Opera, blocking the phone.
I've noted that i can't close if java is active, but now it has started to crash all the time, without a reason.
it's quite anoying.
I have tried installing the flash 7 (now unistalled), and I have the Ati driver installed.
I could this be related? I'm planning to use the flash fix from other post and i'll revert of it work

I'm having usses with PIE not working over media net all of the sudden. Everything was fine and then today i switched to wifi...again, worked just fine, then i went back to media net and now PIE wont even try to load the page.
***I know about proxy manager and used it, this is a separate issue i think***
When I open the program, the load bar along the bottom shows a 0kb then it clears...nothing happening. If i switch back to wifi everything works fine. I've tried deleting the connection and setting up a new one using HTC connection wizard (what i initially used and works great upon setup).
I'm using PV DVH 19701 build black and clean and the 1.40 radio. Dont think its a radio issue since I've been using that one for months and the phone worked fine for 2 weeks until i used wifi for the first time. I'm thinking it has to do with a wifi setting or 6.1 not liking proxy manager.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ive been having a similar problem with every single 6.1 ROM I have used. IE starts out fine, I can connect to MediaNet and use PassThrough internet just fine. At some point my IE gets jacked up. It may be related to some application I installed afterwards. Normally if I check running applications IE doesnt show up. If I check Processes it will show iexplorer.exe running usually at 100%. I believe the problem is related to Windows Live. I have tried like 3 version of it, and the problem creeps up on all of them.
Im currently using IE on my phone right now in this reply. I had to repeatedly attempt to open IE before it finally worked. Such a weird problem, I dont know how to trouble shoot it.
This version open for public.
No need enter any email/password
Super fast, stable...
Yeah, I have been using this. Much faster than the previous version I was using. It even plays BBC IPlayer, a little jerky but amazing non the less. Shame they screwed up the logging in for Megaupload but all in all a good upgrade and by far the best browser on WM.

Make sure nothing else is running (use something like wtask to close programs). You're low on memory, you could uninstall some stuff, get a lighter ROM?
Looks like its not that..
I got Errors when trying to use GPRS connection.
Over WiFi / AS it works like a charm..

ps
My ROM is CRC 13.00 only with HTC Home
Make sure you dont have a proxy server set.. Skyfire uses its own, and my prevent it from connecting.
I never use any proxy... where shall I look for these settings...

Crashing
Keeps crashing on mine. have tried gizmodo.com only but that should be enough...
I've been using it for a little while now and find it quite fast and capable. It hasn't crashed on me once.
I did have to fix the proxy server setting, but other than that, I like it a lot.
The only thing I noticed is that it seems to use a lot of battery. I need to do some quantitative testing, I usually use Opera and it seems to use the battery much quicker than even the latest Opera, but I think my battery's on it's way out anyway, so it's hard to tell. Like I said, I'll have to try them with the same sites and conditions. I'll report back if I find anything helpful or conclusive.
Anyways, so far this seems to be a great browser. I've been a very staunch/die-hard Opera user/supporter for years and this is the first time I've found another browser I would even consider replacing it with. Good show. Thanks.
edit:
BTW it's an 8525, a HERM100 currently running CRC's latest stable rom 13.1 pre 6 or something. Anyway, great app. Thanks again.

Don't u think skyfire "EAT" Power too much, my x01ht only last 1.5 hrs if using it.
"To do, or not to do" That´s the question!
I´m using skyfire to see flashstreams. For all the other, i use opera mini!
Opera mini is very fast and this handling is easy.
In skyfire you must zooming the links, ...
Always and always the same procedures.
This is exhausting!
After installing the newest version or a server update by skyfire i have a new problem. in 1 minute reconnected my browser 32x. i have since 6 Month an account. everytime i don't have problems. if i use an older version, the the same problems.
are you have the same problems?
Thats the newest skyfire 8184

Thank you for the division.
Hey your most very welcome
Skyfire troubles!
NO sound....
Anybody??????
ya, i have no sound either.
worked few days ago tho
no issues with sound and skyfire, just listened to a song on youtube
Hopefully the start of MS pulling its finger out

thanks nice find
Finger scrolling is still a bit messed up though... and it's slow to update
I still find the mobile site (m.facebook.com) to be far more useful!
Just noticed something that could be a problem for some users:
While the application is running, even minimised, it uses the internet to update itself. I just noticed this as I was using the application over a wireless connection earlier this morning, then minimised it and put my phone on stand-by. I've just turned it back on to find that it had connected through my data connection (GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA etc) while my phone was off.
So just a warning - it helps itself to an internet connection while it is running

I have notice the same "behavior"
i cant seem to get it to log in!!
I'm using Dutty's XT V3.0 and under the Phone>Option>Data, there is an option to disable data connection when device enters sleep mode.
Not sure if other ROMs are having the same option..

Im getting the same issue. Uninstalled the Ather cab and installed 1.0.0.7 then restarted when prompted. The app loads without issue however I also cannot login.
Device seems to crash and then is incredibly sluggish from there (even after killing the app)
Anyone else seen this on the touch HD and know if there is a fix?
I've been trying this for a few days....and to be honest...I can't see the point of it. I left it running in the hope that it would update itself and alert me of new messages etc..but it doesn't. Even if I exit and restart the app, I still have to tell it to refresh by clicking the refresh button.
using the facebook site via IE or opera is still much better and quicker.
i have thought the same - m.facebook.com is easy and works.
One of the key things it misses as well is the lack of profile photo changes
If they can get this sorted, auto updates etc then it may be worth using but for the moment its gone.
Seems a bit pointless. The only plus side that I can see is being able to upload photos and videos.
There are problems reading comments left on your status... or at least I cant see an obvious way to read them.
The webpage is just so much cleaner.
For thos who can't login...
I have updated my Stock ROM 1.14 to stock 1.56 and now Facebook Official works (previous versions worked on previous ROM).
I haven't noticed major bugs - only scrolling as was mentioned here is ery slow and refresh times....

Sopis - Im running 1.56.405.1 WWE and this still gives me the same login error message....
I too had Facebook-Ather (0.16) installed, i uninstalled it and installed the microsoft facebook cab 1.0.0.7... i get stuck at the login, after typing in my username/email and password, as soon as i press 'Login', the app pretty much stops responding. Then as someone said above, if i close the app the device is very laggy and responsiveness is almost non existant (and even if I manage to get myself to launch cleanRAM, the device is still poor.)
I suppose we need to wait for Service Pack 1 then? lol.

Just tried to install Facebook 1.0.0.7 on my Kaiser and loads without an issue.
Really confused why the HD has so many issues with it!

Thanks I do switch back and forth sometimes but I prefer the regular one... the iPhone one just seems less "practical" in the sense that all these status updates and things are like pop-ups... The thing with me is, once I'm used to something, I'm a difficult one to change
My browser will only let me open 4 pages. Why is this, any ideas? To prevent excessive memory usage?
I remember reading somewhere that it has something to do with how thumbnails are displayed.
The only way around it is installing an alternative browser like Opera Mini, Dolphin, Steel, etc.
Though I don't see why would you need more that a couple of tabs open on a phone.
Well I do seem to need more than 4 tabs open, just habit I suppose...
I have used Steel and Dolphin before, but I'm really liking the built-in browser, apart from a couple of niggles - the second one being that when long-pressing a link (to bring up the "open in new window" menu), half the time it launches the text highlighting tool :-(
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Might want to calibrate the screen?
I'm also finding that after browsing for a while, the browser will refuse to open a new page at all, it seems to start loading the new page, then stops loading part-way through.

This problem is now starting to really bug me.
I'm browsing for half an hour or so, and then the browser will just freeze up, and refuse to completely load the current page, links won't work, bookmarks won't open. Clearing the cache doesn't fix the problem, and since there's no way to exit the browser then I'm having to reboot the phone.
Anyone else suffering this way?

Hi
I have the similar issue, but it appears only when I switch from Wifi to mobile connection. The only solution I've found is kill browser. Can you please check if it's the same at your side ? if yes it's propably bug in web browser app, because market and everything else is working fine.

No, it's happening to me whether I'm on wifi or 3G (and not switching between the two). I don't have a task manager installed to kill the browser, so I'm having to reboot. Very annoying.
Also another persistent problem is that sometimes the browser will just quit with no warning, when clicking links. It's happened about 6 or 7 times, during (estimated) 4 or 5hrs browsing. When you restart the browser any open windows you had are gone.
I'm not at all impressed with the lack of stability of this browser. I know I could use Steel or Dolphin (with no Flash) instead.
I'm getting a replacement tomorrow, due to the "pink screen" issue, so I'm hoping this handset I have now is just a lemon.
Sadly, I'm thinking maybe they will all be the same. These issues, along with the poor calibration/recognition of where my finger is on the touchscreen sometimes, and the lack of a physical keyboard, are starting to make me re-think my decision about getting this phone.
Even more sadly, my friend's iPhones are looking increasingly more and more attractive :-(
If you don't mind for not having Flash (like iPhone), then you can download "Opera Mini 5" from the Market.
It is much faster and probably will give you better browsing experience.
I am using it for my WM device for years and cannot live without it.
The speed is just so damn fast!

I have T-mobile TP2 with 6.5 stock rom. I just add data plan to my phone recently. I notice that my opera mobile will not work any more if connect via wifi but it works with 3g connection. Skyfire, skype and all other programs work with both wifi and 3g connection.
I have opera mobile 9.7 and just install opera mobile 10. Both of them cannot load any page with wifi connection. I also uncheck everything under proxy setting in config menu.
Any suggestions to fix this problem?
Thank you
I have the same problem. If I find out something, I will post it here.
Make that three of us
Please post if you find anything.
Thanks
Yes, Please. Just discovered this today. IE isn't working either. Yes, I disabled the proxy. Other internet apps working fine, just not my browsers.
Use Skyfire It's Better Than PIE & Opera IMO!!!
One can only assume if none of the other browsers are working that skyfire would't work either haha
Worth a shot. Also.. I dont know if you've tried but back up all your info (contacts and whatever else) and do a hard reset. Then test and see if that fixes it.. I would say with 100% certainty that it will.
Then just load back on all your ap's.
Drastic but beats sitting around waiting for someone to happen stumble across the thread that has a fix.
Going to hard reset in the morning. Got some other broke stuff from trying out too many cabs, so might as well. Been getting a lot of error reports the past 2 days, too. Will report back.
Well Skyfire & PIE Work Perfectly Over Wifi For Me Opera On The Other Hand Works When It Wants 2 Over Wifi
OK, I hard reset and this is still not working. No Opera or PIE over Wifi. Any clues? I really don't want to install another browser if I don't have to. Alos, can't find the cab to make Opera exit on X instead of running in the background.

Man Trust Me Just Use Skyfire You'll Never Turn Back To Another Browser Ever Again!!!
I had Skyfire on my Incite and didn't like it. Why do I need to login to an account to use a browser? The stuff that came on the phone that is taking up space on the ROM should be able to work with both Wifi and MediaNet. No reason for it not to.
Have you guys tried using any other builds of Opera 9.7? There are a lot of different builds available here on XDA. Just search up "Opera Thread" and you'll end up with a thread containing links to download most, if not all, releases of Opera 9.5, 9.7, and 10.
If it were just an Opera problem, I might try that. But it is a problem with PIE, as well. That leads me to believe it is a Tilt 2 issue.

I have done the changes, tested IE, Opera, Google, Bing on AT&T 3G network (H with the .cab) and wi-fi, and everything works great! My speeds have jumped over 1.5mpbs consistently with the outlined changes, and all internet data apps are extremely responsive now. Youtube downloads load in less than 10 seconds, and no jumpiness. MobileTV is the same now, before, kept buffering or got distorted every 15-20 seconds.

Here's what I learned while getting the HTC YouTube application included in the OEM AT&T ROM to work perfectly.
The value in the registry needs to be modified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\YouTube
ProxyName = wireless.cingular.com:80 (default value) needs to be replaced with [BLANK].
This value is intermittently restored, so it is nececssary to change a few others to prevent that.
The value at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SUN\JVM\PRELOADAPP
proxy = wireless.cingular.com:80 (default value) needs to be replaced with [BLANK].
The value at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{EF097F4 C-DC4B-4c98-8FF6-AEF805DC0E8E}\HTTP-{436EF144-B4FB-4863-A041-8F905A62C572}
Proxy = wireless.cingular.com:80 (default value) needs to be replaced with [BLANK].
The value at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\Esmertec Java\Properties
com.sun.midp.io.http.proxy = wireless.cingular.com:80 (default value) needs to be replaced with [BLANK].
Changing these three values will prevent the YouTube proxy from being restored. However, this will prevent the Opera Browser from connecting when the phone is connected via Wi-Fi. In order to fix this, the value at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Defaults
ByPassProxyForNonGPRS = 1 (default value) needs to be changed to 0
