Don't want to clog up the original thread. I am thinking of upgrading to Black Shadow but I have a hard time finding information on which applications there might be issues with. In the sbsh forum for example, one user says that on Black v3 installing Ilauncher caused a hard reset.
Does Ilauncher work with v4?
Also I just can't go without phoneAlarm, IM+, Fizz weather, SPB Time, Resco Explorer, Resco Photoviewer, Pocket Informant and PIEPlus.
Just list all programs that work and the ones you are having problems with.
So far so good...
Greetings,
I've been running these for about a week with no problems on the Black Shadow ROM.
Spb Time v2.1.4, Build 947
&
Resco Explorer 2007 v6.00
I'm curious to know if iLauncher works...I have it...just haven't loaded it.
Cheers,
I,ve been running Ilauncher couple of days without any problems. I also have SPB Mobile Shell, Time and Weather installed and those are working fine.
...And Ilauncher is version 3.0.04
Just a Question but why is this posted on Xda and not 4winmobile?

Mostly because I heard of Black shadow today and know nothing about it. Second, there are a whole bunch of posts about black shadow on this forum so I did not think any of it...
resco explorer 2007 works fine.
phone alarm 1.60 works well no issues.

Yeah, well you didn't scroll by. You opened the thread, read it and posted a message far less valuable than my thread. If this post is of no interest to you then don't read it. 99% of all threads are of no interest to me. I use this forum for the remaining 1% of (to me) interesting threads.
And if I can't post in the original thread, and not post a new one, I don't have many options left... People like you are clogging up the forum.
I'd like to write something rude as well as you did, but instead I figured I would write something constructive.
Mortplayer
anyone using mortplayer on Shadow? It works fine but i'm unable to quit the program properly, instead I have to force close it with task manager every time which leads to previous setting not saved correctly.
Windows Live was playing up but JJ has released a patch at 4wm.

Can we stop this petty crap please? Lots of people on these fora are still using the Black ROMs, JJ still posts on here about them...what exactly is the big f***ing deal?
Telling people to go elsewhere to talk about a different ROM is just going to lead to fragmentation of the community and is just trying to create tension between two internet sites out of nothing.
Just grow up a little bit and stop trying to stir it.

The cook himself has requested that all discussion take place on 4wm. So, the big f***ing deal is that *****ing about it here, when the cook has said he'll only support it on 4wm is useless. Also, if he doesn't see the *****es (because they're posted here), how can he fix the issues?
This community is being fragmented by more than JJ... The excellent moderation around here certainly doesn't help either.

Easy, because 4winmobile sux. Everything is buried and impossible to find. Hermes and Black are nothing more than an after thought on that site.

Bravo DMON!!! Couldn't have said it better. Why don't all you freakin senior members get off your high horse?! If you don't want to read or respond... THEN DON'T. You guys constantly *****ing is what is ruining this forum and causing people to leave... not noobs asking questions.
My apologies to the senior members that don't partake in this BS.

Come on Elf - that's like saying if you have a problem with wisbar, you should only post on the lakeridge forums or if you have a problem with SPB Pocket Plus, you should only post on their forums.
The fact of the matter is that nearly everyone who is interested in the Black ROMs on 4WM is reading and posting here, including JJ himself.
But not everyone who is running black can be mithered reading another set of forums and stays here. I think here is where you're likely to get the biggest readership. You'll miss some of the guys on 4WM but most of the big hitters (just like yourself ) are here.
Let them post in peace

A: Having a posting requirement for new users. I understand it cuts down on the "how do i root my phone" posts, but it seems just as bad to require 10 posts in a non-dev section before allowing new users to post in the dev section.
My real issue is that yelp does on work on the virtuous g2 rom. I noticed other people were having the same issue, and I would like to reply to them and let others know that this is a problem. But I have to get 10 posts first. Awesome.
10 posts is not alot...
Get yourself started with this thread. Lol.

If your looking for an answer to your problem with yelp FC's on the Virtuous 0.9.0, I seriously doubt that it will get much attention or a solution posting under a thread titled "[Q] Do you know what's dumb?" You might try posting in the Virtuous thread.
its pretty dumb that you wasted a thread on this, actually. haha. they want members to actively participate. 10 posts is not alot at all.
there are TONS of ways to participate on XDA to get 10 posts. share your screenshot or some wallpapers - there's 2. Go check out the Q&A section - surely there's something you can contribute to in there.
I realize it's frustrating, but the point isn't to annoy and frustrate new users - it's to prevent new users from annoying and frustrating people who are contributing to the community in general. It's also to encourage new people to participate and contribute in ways other than bug reporting/issue reporting. Not that bug/issue reporting isn't important, but if you come on here, report your bug, and then leave, the community gains nothing. If you join in some of the more community-building threads, the community gains a valuable member.

You know what's dumb?
A: Thinking it's cool to post "how do I root my phone" in the dev section. Nuff said.
Anyway, yelp not working isn't something that belongs in the dev section and I'm sure they know they're not alone in that issue, they don't need you to clutter a thread with 'hey, me too!!'. I'm sure there will be a solution to the issue and in the meantime I'd just use the website.
not trying to be mean or anything and probly will get bashed, but I had a thought about how to organize the forums so the questons asked would get an answer faster and with more accurate information.
what if we were to have a question and answer part in each of the roms instead of asking in the genereal q and a
you know sort of like each dev would be able to see all the problems that their rom is currently having.
and it would also help the people running those roms see all the current questions.
we should also have a section for the people who are on stock roms unrooted
I personally think it would help in diagnosing issues if they arrise.
I agree on a rom q and a but inside the development thread. Have rom thread ie bonsai and then a bonsai q and a thread with the most repeated q and a's on the op. This is more work for the devs and entirely up to them. It will help out in organization instead of cluttering a development thread with the same question. have the main thread for dl link, changelog, install instructions, possibly bug reports (some have a dedicated page for this) and that's it.
Edit: and most importantly feedback.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
To do that, it would need to be reorganized such that roms would each get their own subforum. Then, they could have a "get the new version here" thread, a "general info" thread, and then all the random individual threads. If you have seen how mod forums are organized at civfanatics, you know what I'm talking about.
Lately, I've been thinking we need a "Guides and FAQs" section. Make everyone post guides being worked on in a "works in progress" subforum and then a mod can move completed guides to the main forum. We might be able to get a nice little knowledge base here if a few people wanted to chip in and write out a lot of what we have learned.

srsly? we cant even get the one overworked mod to move much around as it is.
Which is why I haven't previously suggested the idea.
But, seriously, we need a couple more good mods who want to help build a community here. I know how tough it is. I've been around a lot of forums, both good and bad. It can be hard to find people who are both willing to do the job and mature enough to do it well.

You can set up wpa on it. Also enable access control. When someone tries to connect it will prompt you to allow or deny.
PS, wrong section. You may get flamed.
XDA is going downhill. 4-5 non-development related threads, at least, each time I load up to see what development has been taking place while I was away.
Might as well just merge all the sub-forums, XDA.

Personally I think the development forum should be restricted from "New Threads" and have a sub-forum of "Awaiting Approval" where someone can create a NEW thread, if it's development material, a Mod can move it there. There obviously would be the select few who are "developers" and will be allowed to create new threads in the development forum itself...
Just my dream.
Agreed. Making the development section moderated would be wonderful. In fact, I wouldn't even bother moving the unrelated threads into the proper forum. Delete them altogether and let the user figure out why their thread was nuked.
Some of the gibberish I read on here really makes me cringe at the level of literacy. Some examples include no punctuation, run-on sentences, even spelling errors in the subject, or useless subjects such as "Help". Surely these people must be older than 10 yrs old to be able to afford such a device, but show little effort in their request for help.
is it really hard to scroll pass this thread ?
not sure why ppl get so upset when someone posts in the wrong section...simply move on to the next thread
-access control allows who connects to your hotspot, just click to enable the devices u want to have access to the interwebs...
hope that helps.
I think they should open a PISS AND MOAN ABOUT POSTING IN THE WRONG SECTION thread. That's just me though

I don't really care. BUT I think new users should be quized on the rules before being able to post threads
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on Android OS. We now have CyanogenMod.
Just in case you didn't know when you enable access control if you don't click on the box of the person who is trying to access your connection it will still show the person that they are connected they just won't have any internet connection. So if you testing it and wondering why your still able to connect on another device just try to go on the internet and you will see that you have been blocked. Ps to all the people getting on the guys case for posting in the wrong section after the first person pointed it out there is no need to elaborate. If your not posting to be helpful then you shouldn't post at all. Just my opinion.

Is it really hard to post in the correct forum. Rules are rules. Follow them unless people are being hurt.
And no, not their feelings, we don't care about those.

im requesting the disable crt and the circle 2 battery file
thanks!
I'm requesting 1 million dollars, doesnt mean I'm going to get it. If you want something done instead of asking or expecting someone else to do it for you, you should do it. If you dont know how to, then learn. After all this is XDA-Developers, not XDA-DoThisModForMe

of coz i did search and i did learn. but the disable crt doesnt work.
thanks bro jerdog, which means this forum is not going to allow us to request files?
so everyone must do themselves, so why are we coming here in this forum to find different files different mods?
i have downloaded one mod for disabling crt, but its not working

This is a huge misconception of what XDA is all about and it's sad that this is what most people think. This forum was created for developers to collaborate and share their work with other developers. It wasnt started for normal users to come for roms and things and pretty much leech. it was created for developers by developers to come and collaborate, and learn from each other. Not have other people do it for them. Honestly, It's not a place to come making requests even though lots of people do it. If you want a mod, search for it instead of asking people to feed it to you and do your leg work for you. And like I said if there isnt a mod out there to do what you want, then learn to do it yourself. If you need help while doing it then sure ask away but asking someone to spoon feed you something you can either find on your own or make yourself if not found on your own isn't what this forum is for. It's not for people coming to request things honestly. If a developer shares their work then thats great but they dont have to and honestly people have no right to request things from them.
There are plenty of tutorials on how to disable crt all over xda. That was the point myself and jerdog were trying to make.
