Hi there, I'm very happy with my HTC pro2! It's a very cool device. But there are a few little things I want to adjust. The first thing I'm not happy with is the digital phonepath when I want to text/sms. It's a bit small. Last week I've seen the digital phonepath on the HTC Touch HD and that's much more basic and therefor much more easier to handle when texting/ smsing (at first sight).
The second thing I regret is that opera mobile only has two tabs.. I borrowed a Samsung Omnia a few weeks ago and on that device I could use three of more tabs.
Does anybody know how to chage / adjust this thing on the Pro2?
Oh, I've got a Dutch version of the Rhodium.
To adjust tab count in Opera, in the Opera address bar type opera:config
Once in the configuration editor, scroll down to 'User Prefs', expand it, and look for 'Maximum Allowed Tabs'. Change the number as required. Reboot browser, or reboot phone if Opera's stuck in memory and you don't know how to kill it.
Thanks a lot!! But I tried and I tried, but when I change 'Maximum Allowed Tabs' in another number and saved it, it will not take effect. I rebooted the browser and also the device, but it won't work...
When I reboot the Browser and then check opera:config, it shows my adjustment in 'Maximum Allowed Tabs' (from 2 to 5 tabs), but it still doesn't work...
Anyone?
UPDATE: I did it! I changed the opera.ini file.

i just played around with the basehue.exe (located in windows-folder, which is available as "System Base Hue, Change Color Sheme"-Option on Home-Screen and in Options on S620 using Kavanas 6.1-ROM, but not on other devices, mainly touch-screen devices, i think.), as the Mode of selecting the Bar-Color is wery easy with this app. So as this file was neither on m WM6.1 Dell X50v-PDA nor on my HTC Wizard WM6.1 Smartphone, where i before used Tweaks 2k2 for changing the Bar-colors, i tried copying this file to both PDA's and it works. (even with working touch-screen!). It's a very fast and easy way of changing colors around.
I thought, it might be a useful trick to try for others like me, which also have other HTHC or 6.0/6.1-Devices. (haven't tried it with WM5./6.0 yet.)
So, if it's allowed (Kavana, i ask you?), i may upload the single exe for others to use here.

Basehue will work with ALL Windows Mobile 5 and 6 smartphones and PPCs. All it does is change the basehue entry under the hklm/software/microsoft/color key. Oh and Kavana didn't write it. He just cooked a ROM with it

Seen it was freeware and since it changes a reg then my question is answered thank you
Not saving settings
For some reason if I use basehue or manually edit the registry, when I soft reset my colors get restored to whatever is in the home screen options under settings. I've had this issue before, but it went away. Now its back and rather annoying. Using Rickys Rose 1.6 with sliding panels. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I posted on the NRG Rose Remade thread about BaseHue, i'm not sure why it doesn't hold but have found that if you use SmartToolKit it will hold the colour after a reset

Found this program over at Modaco that resets the registry key at startup to whatever it was before a soft reset.
Heres the modaco link with info:

The file was no longer available on Modaco, but a little Googling turned up this zip file with the install cab and instructions. I just tested it and it worked like a charm. If anyone is interested the value for the black bars is 160.
Well, i tried the basehue on my new Universal (first in WM5, then with 6.1) and still works. (And the color stays after soft-reset.) Seems to be a similar program as the autobasehue posted above this post, ut instead of typing numbers, have a color-circle (switchable to greyscale).
Here i'm giving you the file from Kavana's HTC S620-Rom.

Thanks for your response, but I believe this is the same one that is included with the NRG Rose remake by ricky and stylez, which I currently use. It stopped working for me and the link and file I provided works 100% all of the time. Just trying to give everyone a working option if they are facing the same scenario I am. Thanks again.

I feel there are many options missing and I'd love some help from you guys. this is my first post.
First is there a way we can create a shortcut that directly starts a new SMS msg to send ?
How do I make some programs start automatically as windows starts ?
The built-in calculator is the ugliest thing ever, i want an easy to use calc and not scientific , not necessarily loaded with options. I used calcium for N95 i loved it it was just perfect and straight to the point. ( http://www.mtvoid.com/calcium/ )

you will need to know how to make .lnk files which are simply pure text files containing a path, read on here.
To make programs start up with windows a link to the program needs to be placed in the windows\start up\ folder
Try total commander for a registry editor\ advanced file explorer
For programs check freeware websites such as these.

I would like to do some changes. I already know how i can change the order of the menu names, but i still don't know how can i change the links.
For example:
There is Favourites. If you click on it you can scroll right,left. There are your fav. webpages and the browser: Internet Explorer.
I hate IE, i prefer Opera.
How can i change it to Opera?
Please do not tell me "click on start and there will be the bulit in opera" because i know that i would like to change IE to opera in the new wm6.5 Today screen.

wanna know too, so far i have only found CHome configurator for windows smartphone. But it's not completely compatible. Also in the registry editor i found some keys regarding to the CHome (Titanium) settings and items present.

HKLM\Security\Microsoft\CHome
but i think editing the .cpr file is also needed for everything to work....
for myself i haven't got it working the way i want it, but may b we can make this a central thread if anyone finds out how to do it.... please put a tutorial in here........

1. copy 2330fc3c_manila from windows to somewhere (use totalcommander / resco explorer)
2. edit properties: remove "read only"
3. stop TF3D (settings/personal/today/items/ )
4. copy 2330fc3c_manila from somewhere to windows (overwrite old one)
5. start TF3D (c above)

In my ROM, the file 2330fc3c_manila is a ROM file. The file can not be changed.

It can be changed as most of the manila files are cooked into rom. You need to ensure you remove read only protection on ur computor, edit using sql lite.... see this post...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4084829&post#9406
Guys, does anyone suffer the same problem I do with using new cities in the db?
I have Dutty's 3.9XT but suspect this is the same for all ROMS. I can add my local city without a problem using the weather database but then I cannot use it as my local time as the timezone is way out. This means that I have to use another original city with the consequence that it is this city's weather that is shown in my calender.
There must be a way to fix the timezone for any added cities given that those in the original db are correct. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Whilst you have added the city correctly, it sounds like you havent changed the timezone whilst adding the city. When using sql lite, look at your city entry and alter the timezone (period is in minutes) to 0 (it is probably set at something like 180 or what ever. Also make sure the msid code is set for 85 for UK.
Alter that and do the usual routine of applying the manila file, soft reset, and voila you should be able to apply it as you should.
Any problems, send tell me your city and i can alter it for you.

Thanks (and apologies for the duplicate post in Dutty's). I was actually asking how to do it in the weather database editor. Never tried SQL Lite. But will give it a go.
OK, tried SQLite and is obviously beyond my capabilities. How do I find my city entry in this? I am no db guy hence the fact that I thought that the weather app would handle this type of thing.

Many thanks for the offer to help but after a further search, I found SQLite Administrator and can now edit the db. Strangely enough, the timezone was correct but the msid was not.
Have successfully changed the settings in the db and my home town now indicates the correct timezone. I can now see the weather correctly in the calender. Many thanks again for your invaluable help on this matter.

Hi
Make sure you really stop the opera.exe process from running. When you exit opera, it actually not close completely, and when you used other tool like memmaid or similar (if you have) you can still see the opera.exe process are still run.
That is why it dont work.
Alternatively you can copy out the opera.ini from \\Windows\Opera9\
to you pc and then edit this line and make sure it set the desired number and then copy it back.

Here i attached my screenshot too.
Also i attached another screenshot from Memmaid, when we close opera, it is actually still running at the background. Make sure this process is not running. I used memmaid to kill it. and then restart the opera. Then everything should work.

If you're having trouble killing the opera process, just reboot your phone. Firstly, double check you have the correct setting in opera:config, then turn the thing off and on again.

Did you check to make sure the opera.exe is not running??? before you rerun opera or test it again? Also like brynweb said, reboot ur phone .
Note: the normal taskmanager will not see it unless you used tools like Memmaid to ensure you really quit all the opera apps.
Im sure that is why it doesn't work for you. (see post #7)
well... the main problem is kill opera. I've used Memmaid and also Advanced Task Manager and I kill opera9.exe and also operaL.exe and a second after it appears again! It keeps appearing...
just disabled TouchFlo and all without success!

Hmm strange... I know it is kind of frustrating when it is not work.

But strange enough, not for the couple of tries. I tried to exit opera with button at left bottom corner, even restart device couple of times. Number of tab changed after restart to 2 again. So I left it like that with 5 tabs selected and after a night it suddenly works and I have 5 tabs. I have no idea how it started to work, but it did
Edit: I tried new beta, but I was buggy and did not resised text as good as 9,5.
Yep editing the ini file on a pc works fine, I now have 5 tabs.

the problem is that the "Internet push" option always relaunches opera.
there's a thread somewhere here around about fully disabling this - which also gives you cca. 9 MB extra RAM

This worked just fine for me... and now the phone also restarts quite more faster, although every time I want to start opera it takes a little bit more time, but no problem for me...

I tried without any success to change this setting as well . I went through opera:config, changed the number from 2 to 6 in the maximum tab allowed setting, restarted the phone over and over again and i gave up rather frustrated after it didnt work.
I woke up this morning and tried to add more tabs and what do you know? i have 6 tabs! i dont know what happened but its worked!...

Disable inetrnet push through Memmaid or Rhodium tools. Opera autostart or background working shall end with reboot.
In Opera key in opera:config> user pref> Max. tabs
Choose any number and save by clicking OK on the end of page. Restart the Opera and you'll have more tabs. I feel 5 is ok should be max.
