8525 needing a reset after going into standby to wake up again?

Hello,
First and foremost I should note that I tried searching the forums but I was not entirely sure what to search for. I tried a few different queries and they yielded negligible results for my issue. Now, onto my issue:
8525 with wm6 black 3.01
I have my 8525/hermes/tytn/etc/ set to turn the device off after 3 minutes of inactivity in order to preserve battery life. Sometimes, this poses no issues and I can just hit the power button to turn it back on when I need to. Other times however, and perhaps more frequent, I press the power button and nothing happens. Try as I might and regardless of how many times I press the damned button, it will not turn on. I have to use my stylus to do a soft reset in order to have my phone back in operation. Needless to say, this has gotten very annoying. I have since turned that feature off but now my battery drains far too quickly.
Is this a known issue or has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, is there a fix for this? If not, would ATT accept my phone for a warranty exchange with this greymarket software on it? If not, can I just flash it with an official ATT image and then send it in? Thanks.

It's called Sleep of Death... SOD... I had it and I flashed the official AT&T rom and havent had it since.

How many apps do you have running. Where are they installed also. I currently run Black Majik, and NEVER have the SoD, or soft reset, so I think it's the stuff you put in your device that may be causing this. Flashing a new ROM wont always solve this, since you and I have the same phone, I think it's what you put in that may cause this.

running? usually just whatever program I have opened since I have it set up to completely escape the program when I X out. As far as where things are installed, everything is installed on my device sans iGo.. However, this issue arised prior to iGo being put on my SD card.

Try this. After a hard reset, load one app to your device, let it sit, test it, and then do another. take your time. See if something you load is causing this. I did a HR on mine cause I had tons of crap on there, loaded stuff slowly and noticed the ButtonFlo CAB is what screwed my ROM from working good, so got rid of it. Since then, its awesome.

Leave the Black and go with JJ's Majik. Is the only ROM to date that hasn't SOD'ed me ... and I run the same apps, the same way, on all the ROM's.

I read a lot of threads regarding the problem, i tried AT&T and same problem, others had it with black, now i am having it with latest LVSW, may be a software problem, i had it using SPB WEATHER and SPB TIME, i hard reset install all but them, worked fine for two days, installed TWEAK2K2, problem came back, now trying without TWEAK2K2, but i doubt problem can be solved

My Opinion
been running through threads all over, just found out that there is no solution, because when a program pushes the unit to wake up from standby it freezes, this program can be weather, alarm, mail, active sync, and even a CALL can cause this, so it's a permanent bug in wm6 and PPC :-(

Phone tab locks "Start menu" after closing

I've recently upgraded to WM6 (Australian ROM) and what I found is that sometimes (yes, sometimes... sigh....) when I close the Phone tab after I have made/received a call, the top of my screen still shows "Phone" next to the windows start logo, and my start menu is closed and freezed. So I can see the today screen, the only part of the phone tab that remains and cannot be closed is the bar at the top. Ihave to perform a soft reset to "fix" it.
I have some 3rd party stuff installed on my device:
Spb Pocket Plus and Spb GPRS Monitor.
Anyone has/had the same issue and has a solution?

What I noticed is that it doens't just concern my phone tab. It happened to my settings - and programs tab to.
And I do not need to make a softreboot. Just turning the device off and on using the powerbutton is enough.
Still, issue remains, any takers on this subject?

Sounds like a screen refresh problem. i would try uninstalling the additional software one at a time to see if the problem stops when you have removed something.

Deinstalled the 3rd party software. Issue remains. Still, it's not a real big deal. I mean, I will get by. I will just have to hit the powerbutton once in a while.
Still, maybe I will give device a hard reset and use it without any modifications. See if that works.
Any other suggestions.

Go for the hard reset, if that fails to fix the problem I would reflash the ROM. If that doesn't fix it, it might be the AUS ROM that is causing the issue with your network.

I agree with all above expect the part of "it might be the AUS ROM that is causing the issue with your network".
What i think might be possible is that the ROM conflicts with my P3600, since it isn't a Dopod.
But as you suggested, I'm going to give it a hard reset.

Unresponsive keys on Hermes

Does anyone else experience unresponsive Messaging, IE, ok, etc, keys?
I know there were brief threads about this a while back, and most were either not conclusive, or someone blamed the hardware.
I did a test, and flashed almost all current cooked and uncooked WM6 ROMs, and every single one of them has this issue.
Then I flashed WM5, and voila! No key problem.
Any ideas, or suggestions to further troubleshoot this?

i have problems with unresponding keys too. I have too push very hard on the qwerty keyboard. Espesially the "U" key. No matter what ROM I use.

I can confirm that you're not alone. I have random problems with an unresponsive keyboard as well. It happens occasionally on all WM6 Roms I've used (currently on AT&T leaked rom), and without any discernable pattern. I don't THINK it is a problem with the actual keyboard hardware, but I've not tested this specific issue enough to be totally sure. Only a soft reset will bring the keyboard back, and then it may be fine for days. I haven't tried pressing hard on the keys to try to bring it back, as others have. If normal force doesn't work, then I will just reboot.

Seems to be a common thing. I get this sometimes too. I have found it happened slightly less often with either Faria's super-clean or Black Satin. That could be coincidence thoguh.
Although a physical problem which requires the insides to be cleaned is something that could happen to any unit, there is an issues with Hermes keys failing to respond either quickly or at all in certain situations.
I'm honestly not sure if anyone's done enough testing to ascertain the exact circumstances that this can come up in, but it seems that a Soft Reset will always sort it as you'd expect - except for 'physical' problems of course.

Im also getting this problem now and then.. It just happens when im using the keypad allot, or typing faster then the ppc can put it on screen it seems.. But its almost most of the time when im using java apps and MMS and SMS. Wierd..
I got this problem even worse when i had Black Satin installed.. It will happen as soon as i start typing something..

I hate to ressurect this old thread, but was there any update to this issue that I might have missed? I am still having the dead keys issue, and I know it's not hardware as the pressing of the keys wakes up the device but doesn't do what the key is supposed to do.

I've had this Happen to Me Since Upgrading to WM6. When On WM5 It never Happened. Usually after a soft reset It's ok on WM6. I say Test out some WM5 for like a Week And if it doesnt' happen then It's the OS. Prolly Software to Hardware issues.

automapa issue - not working

Is anybody here using automapa? I'd like to use one too, but I have some pretty big inconvenience while using . It opens, but it gets stuck after it catches gps signal (it never happens indoor, where is no gps for example) so i can try to hide it, which actually works, but than i cant recall it again. it is going in background all the time, so even if i use manager to shut it down it doesn't. Didnt you have similar problems with it? any ideas what can be wrong, or how can i fix it?
The only way to solve the situation is soft reset..
I wanna add, that i had lately hard reset, so everything is stock, i use some soft like tweakHD, change screen, sktools and advanced config, nothing more..
please help, i'm going on vacation in two weeks it would be great if it works..

I love my T-Mobile Touch Pro 2....BUT

It isn't a perfect phone. I've had it crash 3 times after having it for 10 days. It's the same type of crash too, the screen just becomes nonfunctional and I have to pull the battery out to restart the device. The phone does not freeze, the time and incoming calls all work, but I just cannot accept any calls or dial or do anything with the touch screen because it refuses to listen Not sure why it happens but I'm curious to see if people have had this kind of problem and or know of a resolution.

Stock T-Mobile rom. I have installed several games and the FM Radio cab, that is all

i think it is not a hardware problem it must be because of something u loaded.try a hard reset. i have t mobile tp2 no problem. i have loaded volpad application, lots of bugs happened. after removing everything was ok. remove one by one and after each make a soft reset. u will solve it. good luck...

I had the exact same problem. My device would think off and on that I had my headphones plugged into it because the headphone icon would appear. Therefore I couldn't hear anything. I finally took my phone to Sprint and they replace it with a new one. They must all have a defect or something. I tried the soft reset, hard reset, and wiping the device. Nothing worked. Not even tech support could figure it out (which isn't surprising, but whatever).

id give it a hard reset and see whats up, some games can lock up ya phone, like the game majong... thats mess my wifes phone up and freeze it if ya dont exit properly.....
Im now on custom shipped 6.5 and my signal keeps switching edge to 3g annd back, so Now im on figuring this out, fun sometimes huh????lol
