a2dp audio volume to high (sound distortion) - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Guys, and you please test this ??
If you stream by a2dp two sounds like music from touchflo3d and voices from gps software or music from another program (like pocketplayer), the second stream lowers the volume of the first and the sound of the second stream comes very distorted !! I can not use music plus my gps software because the guidance voice comes too loud and distorced. Since the pro2 uses widcomm bluetooth stack you cannot adjust the output volume for the bluetooth device. Tested on several a2dp enabled receivers and all present the same problem. The second stream comes distorted .
Any help/ideas on fixing this is welcome.
thank you

the file responsible for the volume/gain/clipping is wavedev.dll
I need some expert help on lowering the gain !! it's there..

I can lower the volume by long pressing the Play Button on my A2DP Headset

Have you tried the setting in the BT stack to transfer all system audio to BT?
If this is enabled, try disabling and see if the GPS comes through the Rhodium speakers.
The volume level is annoying, I shall add this to the list of annoyances and required bugfixes, I am sure it can be enabled. Not all A2DP headsets have their own volume controls.
Cheers,
Beasty

thank you for the sugestion but already tried it. When 2 audio streams are played, the second has distortion, but not all second streams. The stock ringtones are ok and tomtom too but navigon is not and most of my ring tones. The moste simple test is pocket player + tf3d music tab at the same time. The second stream makes the pro2 audio stack make cliping due to the high gain on the second stream. Looking at Wavedev.dll you see the strings for "secondstream gain".
I tried some a2dp receivers and all shows the same problem.
I don't think that a simple reg will fix this. Googling for this problem i came across some ppl with the same problem some years ago
why don't you try it andd see it for yourself?
Thank you

I has this problem w/ my old Asus P525 (widcomm bt stack) as well. BTW, does TP2 will drop A2DP connection after phone call which exist on all HTC device w/ MS BT stack?

well i never suffered from that on any htc phone. Where a2dp keeps connected

listening to MP3 windows media on bluetooth headset?

hi everyone. is it possible to listen to my windows media palyer mp3 and other audio in a bluetooth headset? i bought a BT headset and got it to wotrk on my xda2 for incoming and outgoing calls...but when i listen to my audio in windows mobile, the sound still comes out of the xda2...
i hope you guys have something for this...
thanks.
I have a PPC-6601 with the same issue. The platform apparently does not support "audio on demand" over bluetooth. There may be 3rd party software or a bluetooth stack tweak that fixes this but as of yet I have not found one. If it exists it is probably on this site, but I'm still searching.
Hopefully someone will post a fix.
This also causes voicecommand to not work over the bluetooth, which means that a wired headset is far superior to a bluetooth one on these phones. Hopefully it is not a hardware limitation.
good luck to us.
Wes
Its not a limitation... but the device should support AD2P profile... which is not still in there.. will will have to wait for it
Hey guys,
check out PDA2K_BroadcomCorp_BTUpdate.cab on this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14329
I believe this adds the AD2P and keyboard profiles to the phone. When I installed it on mine I saw a new profile for bluetooth high quality audio headphones. Unfortunately my bluetooth headset (Logitech mobile freedom) doesn't seem to support AD2P. I was hoping to get low quality audio on demand through the headset, not necessarily high quality audio. My goal is to get microsoft voice command to work over the bluetooth headset speaker and mic.
Let me know if you have any ideas for getting audio on demand over my bluetooth headset, and if you have a good set of bluetooth headphones that support AD2P, the file at the link above should get it working if you have the broadcomm/widcomm bluetooth stack.
Thanks for the link
Thanks for the link, will have to search for the update for PDA2k....
pda2k update
that file should work on any pda using the broadcomm bluetooth stack. it adds the high quality audio profile and keyboard profile.
i am looking for a way to get a headset profile to behave exactly like a wired headset. apparently this is not an option.

bluetooth music

after upgrading my BA to wm6.5 the bluetooth audio can only play for 0.5sec and then it cant produce anymore sound to my bluetooth headset.
i tried the same bluetooth headset on blackstone and it works perfectly.
can anyone tell me why? anything which i need to update?
any roms can make my bluetooth music work again?
I am having the same issue as you are. I tried the Broadcomm BT and that didn't help. I can get it to play okay with WMP, which I don't like. I usually use PocketMusic free version.
With WMP the music plays fine, I can use the forward/back options on my BT headset, but with any other player I cannot use the forward/back option, though volume +/- work fine.
Without using the Broadcomm BT stack I cannot seem to get past the 0.5 second play time issue.
I currently have a 6.5 cooked rom. I would be happy to have any information someone might have to help both of us.
solution to the problem ?
Is this problem on 0.5 sec playtime solved already ? I encountered this same problem with my bluetooth after upgrading to WM 6.5
up to now, i could listen to music via a2dp with every rom i had. the only problem was that the distance between the phone and the head had to be really short. also you should do the math: the ba has an average bluetooth data rate of 20kb/s due to BT1.1. 20kb/s equals 160kbit/s. every mp3 with a higher bitrate will cause problems, since it cannot be transmitted as fast as it is played. so either the quality must be turned down or you will have to wait for the buffering every few seconds.

A2DP - Automatic Stereo Audio

I have searched around XDA and haven't found a solution to this yet.
I have a wireless transmitter to play music in my car. When I turn bluetooth on it automatically turns on 'Hands-Free' but doesn't turn on 'Stereo Audio'.
Previously on my Kaiser (with a different car kit) turning on the transmitter set it up automatically.
I have tried AutoA2DP (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530932) but I'm not sure it worked - it certainly hasn't achieved the effect I want (although it does seem to open Media Player when I connect now).
Anyone found a solution on the TP2?
Cheers,
I did have take a quick look at my TP2, because I had no problem with the connection. My car radio (Sony Xplod) gives 2 icons... 1 from the hands-free and the other of my Audio. I've looked in my settings for you, and found one option what must be checked. It's something like: Make a seperate connection for handfree and audio! (I'm guissing to that sentence becuase I have a dutch ROM!)
Hope it helped you!
greetz
EDIT:
Just did take a closer look into my car, and now it also didn't take the extra connection with my sterio audio. This is the solution:
Go to Com Manager
Press Setting
Press Bluetooth
Take the second tab
And tap than Sterio Audio
Now He's saying he's trying to make a connection e voila! Now it's playing music true your car audio!
(This is the way with TF3D2!'

Yes - I've been doing this every time I get in my car - I just wish there was a way of doing it automatically (and then preventing the message 'You can't control audio via this headset' or similar).
Cheers,
Jim.
Hi,
Same problem in my car. Same car radio working with two (Sony Ericsson) phones I used before. They always connected immediately (both 'Hands-Free' + 'Stereo Audio). Strange that the TP2 is not comfortable with this simple task. Indeed, I think the option "Connect separately to Bluetooth hands-free and stereo audio services" should be unchecked but despite this option, the TP2 is still waiting for the appropriate tap. Going to BT settings and tapping 'Stereo Audio' each and every time is frustrating and uncomfortable.
Added subscription to this topic.
I'm a bit frustrated too with the AD2P auto connect problem.
I have a Sony MEX-BT3700U Car radio.
When I sit in my car, the handsfree function connects automatically with no hassle.
But not the Stereo Audio (A2DP) function. I connect it via the Bluetooth settings. After that it works great.
The problem is I'm always focused to activate AD2P manually first before I drive and forget that I have yet to start the car. So I have to start over. Going to settings > Bluetooth Settings etc. etc. ANNOYING!
So. I tried A2DP Toggle in combination with A2DP Auto Connect. Doesn't work.
Went searching for hours... But nothing. Think it has todo with the different BT Stack compared to other HTC's.
Still hoping for a solution.
@Ramsfan_Jim: which wireless transmitter are you using? I'm thinking of buying one to use w/my TP2. My factory head unit (VW Monsoon) doesn't support bluetooth.

I originally used a Venturi Mini - which had the advantage that it automatically set up handsfree & audio transmission as soon as I turned it on, but unfortunately it broke (repeatedly) with regular use.
I now use this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-MP3-FM-Transmitter-Bluetooth-Handfree-w-2-Remotes_W0QQitemZ250445424484QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item3a4fb5e764&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A6%7C72%3A1683%7C293%3A7%7C294%3A25 which is much sturdier - and seems to have a stronger signal. However, I have to change the bluetooth settings on the TP2 to enable Stereo Audio each time I connect.
Warning - this is a much bigger device, so dependent on where your cigarette lighter is in the car, it may get in the way. I had to buy an extension lead to move it so I could use the gearstick!
Newsflash.
Found out how to auto connect to my bluetooth car radio with my TP2.
I have a radio channel bar (or whatever it's called in english) from one to six. There's a "pause/play" description small above the number five. I accidentally pressed it and it suddenly connected my phone through AD2P.
So just press play and it gets connected. So no software needed for me.
I don't use a BT car radio but I do have a stereo BT and a regular BT headset. The stereo BT has both Handsfree and A2DP profiles. But since I use the A2DP only, in my Kaiser under BT Services I unchecked the Handsfree profile and now my stereo BT autoconnects every time.
ChriX84: thanx, very interesting information, will try it tonight in my car !
Another interesting info (might be useful in terms of a .cab file preparation...): a "BT Mono" (i.e. not Stereo Audio (A2DP)) with a very low volume signal is obtained (in my car radio at least) when pressing the "Play" button on the media player (Core or WMP) while still having Stereo Audio option switched off under the BT settings.

This worked for me too. Was bugging me to the extent where I wasn't bothering streaming audio any more!
Nice tip
I always burned new mp3 cd's or connected my mp3player/phone through a aux-cable.
Bluetooth Stereo Music is a huge step forward for me. The ease of using one device for everything. Calling, playing music without any cables. Thank god for that invention.

What exactly is a radio channel bar? Do you mean like a media widget or radio widget?
Personally this a2dp bug is a deal breaker for me. I primarily use my device for audio streaming.

The bar with all the channel buttons. 1,2,3,4,5 etc.
Above or under those buttons there are little symbols with play/pause etc.

Bluetooth headset volyme, need help

when connecting any "STEREO" headset i can't raise or lower volyme, it's always at max regardless of volyme onscreen.
probably this is due to new bluetooth drivers and hardware.
But if anyone got the same problem or solution plese post it..

Woo. U got the Rhodium too??
To answer your question, it's a well known issue w/ Broadcom stack. And there could poping sound issue as well if you have multiple program sending sound together (e.g. A2DP w/ coreplayer + Voice prompt w/ GPS program) <== Can you verify this.
I don't have Rhodium (maybe yet) but my Asus P525 w/ broadcom stack has this problem. Never heard any solution so far.
a2dp
yes, I can confirm the same problem: with A2DP the side keys do not work for volume setting (they set the system volume which is not coupled to the BT volume when having the WidComm stack).
the workaround is to have a media player with separated volume setting like CorePlayer, which works pretty fine for me
that aint the problem, the problem is that every time i connect the stereo headset it sets the volyme to max and i cant lower the volyme by any meens. (yes ive tried about 5 different brands of headsets)
BT vol
what do you mean by "any means" - which controls did you try? the sidekeys will definitely not work, as I stated above. only if the player has a separate volume slider, that'll do something.

i tried the hardware keys, htc volyme control and built in control of coreplayer.
coreplayers built in volyme works in 1 out of 3 times, and this is tried right after hardreset.
BT vol
well, CorePlayer volume setting works for me always - no matter if I did hardreset or not (and I'm quite a heavy user with Igo, Exchange MailSync, Opera, etc.). CP version is 1.3.2 build 6909.
(and my headset is SonyE. HBH-IS800)

Unfortunately, some stupid program like TomTom, IGO do not has this option...
BTW, do you folks encounter any "poping", or sound distortion issue when multiple programs (e.g. GPS + Coreplayer) trying to play sound together? It would be a deal breaker to me if it does...
distortion
did not have this scenario yet - I use igo in the car where I have a BT handsfree carkit which does not use A2DP. so igo announces everything on the own TP2 speaker, while calls are on the car radio.

When I use IGO8 and the audiomanager at the same time, the sound works for a while and than stops working. I Have to turn bluetooth of, soft reset and turn everything again. But the same problem happens again. Even trying to use WMP or HTCAlbum to watch videos and listen with a2dp the same problem happens again.
I dont know, but it seems that the bluetooth memory reaches a level and than it stops working. I dont Know. Any Ideas ???
Thanks
I have the same problems. It's really unpleasant !
So, i tried to install Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3 and v3.2 to try configurate control volume, but the program doesn't work on my Rhodium...?!?

I'm using the hbh-is800 and experienced the same problem of not being able to control the volume which seemed to always be at max. this was especially frustrating as i quite like the tf3d player, but was forced to use other players with software volume control.
My makeshift fix was to edit the registry for the default volume of the tf3d player.
\HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Config
music_player_volumn default = 100
I lowered it to 30 and after a soft reset the volume on my hbh-is800 is now at a comfortable level.
i still can't change the volume on the fly, but a fixed comfortable volume is better than the original fixed max volume.

I cannot control the volume of Streaming Bluetooth Audio.... :(

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones and a bluetooth receiver in my car.
Once i pair either one to my Touch Pro 2, i noticed that raising/lowering the volume on my HD2 does not affect the audio what so ever(unless i put it on mute).
The music sounds very loud and distorted, and i cant control the volume either way...Anyone else run into this issue? How can i solve it?
That's normal. You need to adjust the volume at the receiving end.
I have the exact same problem. Not sure why as when I pair up to my speakers, the phone tells me it cannot control the volume, yet it worked fine on my "Touch Pro" (the 1st one) and my Kaiser. Not looked for a solution, because its not much of an issue for me really.

But the problem is that, the audio being streamed from the HD2 is so loud and distorted, that i have to turn it down(but i cant).
So even if i turn it down on the receiving end, the distortion is still there.
With my old samsung omnia, i was able to turn the music up or down from the phone...I dont understand why this isnt possible with the Touch Pro 2.
The music coming from my phone is unlistenable. The distortion ruins the audio. Which really sucks, because i spent $300 on a car reciever with bluetooth!
There has to be a solution! Come on XDA!
Try turning it down on the phone first? Or get a player that uses it's own volume control instead of the system volume (I believe Mort Player and Nitrogen will do this).

Same problem here!!!
No volume control at all on TP2, and volume of music cant be changed through the system volume control either
I have a bluetooth connection to my motorcycle intercom system. I had the same problem, sort of.
I installed Conduits Pocket Player, and use the equalizer to bring down the level of the Bluetooth. That worked well enough for what I needed to do.
I read somewhere else on the forum here that this issue is attributed to the Widcomm Buetooth stack on our phones. Whenever I connect my headset to my phone or my laptop, I receive a warning that the volume must be adjusted on the output device, and cannot be adjusted on the phone/computer. It may be related to the poor support for AVRCP.

ok, so it seems that this wincomm bluetooth stack or whatever SUCKS. You're right....I guess the only work around i guess is a player that doesnt use the system volume, like coreplayer.
Coreplayer is great for movies, but for playing mp3's i would prefer Slide 2 Play.
Havent tried nitrogen yet though.
Does a mp3 player exist that is similar to slide 2 play, but doesnt use the system volume of the phone?
I too am not able to use many of the bluetooth audio accessories such as my jabra headphones, desktop speakers and my indash audio system. None of which work as they did with my Kaiser. This was supposed to be an upgrade to my Tilt and it doesnt even support the OLD protocals that were common 2 years ago?? Im seriously considering switching to blackberry. Anyone intrested in a nearly new Tilt 2. Goodbye htc (high tech crap)
THis is a problem with the bluetooth stack, just email HTC so they can get a patch for this. or microsoft because they are the ones that control what stack it gets.
this Goes for the HD2 and others too
