Wiki Having Issues - About xda-developers.com

I decided to make my first contribution to the xda-developers wiki today. Only to discover that when saving my small edits, the page was saved horribly wrong. Unfortunately this means now that all I managed to do was BREAK a page....
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_HardSPL
As you can see, that's not right anymore. And as saving is broken, then I can't seem to revert properly either without ending up with the same result.
If it helps, I am getting repeated reporings of the following PHP error.
Warning: preg_match() [function.preg-match]: No ending delimiter '/' found in /var/www/phpwiki/lib/InlineParser.php on line 146

I fixed the php error, you should be able to revert the page.

Thanks man.
I had to Purge the Cache on a Few pages afterwards to get them sorted, but all OK from what I can see.

Actually, not working. Only what the Cache is Purged it displays OK. Otherwise, Nothing but bullets.
e.g. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Diamond_HardSPL
and the HTC_Hermes page.
Thanks

Thank you very much oh glorious admins!
Page fixed.... And I even added my edit now...

If its a cab file you're trying to install, copy it anywhere on the phone. Then using file explorer on your phone, click on the cab file and installation will begin.
If its an exe file, these install from your pc through Activesync. On your pc(with phone connected), click on the exe file and it will copy the files to your phone. It will then tell you to check your phone, which will then look like you had just started a cab file installation.
If either cab or exe asks you if you want to install to device or storage card, it should be your choice unless the creator has specified otherwise.
Some files require rebooting the phone after installation. Most will tell you before they reboot, and some creators will tell you its necessary. In this case you should manually reboot it if the installation doesn't automatically do it for you.
just out of curiosity. how did you manage to flash 6.1 on the phone when you are unsure of how to install a simple application?

what kind of stuff? like does the phone do backflips or break dance?
be a little more specific man..
for the keyboard go look in the sticky ontop of this forum and download the keyboard file to your pc. plug your phone into the pc and let it sync. then take that file and through activesync > explorer put it on your phone
on your phone, go to where that file is located and just execute it..install to device. then reboot the phone when its done installing.

there are sticky's full of instructions for installing new roms....followed by 1000 pages of the same questions and the same answers.
i wasnt trying to be a jerk.i was honestly asking because id like to know how he installed his 6.1 so we can try to make it a lot easier on n00bs that ask the same questions time and time again. since he seems like a new user, hes the one to ask right?

You honestly think hes the one? I didn't think installing cabs was that hard. Put cab on phone, click on it from explorer, and wait just a bit, Done. I really don't think he is the chosen one. In fact, I would venture a guess that it was pure luck he was able to get 6.1 flashed at all. No offense. I nominate Gixxum to be his personal tutor
which is why id like to know how or what instructions he followed.
I didn't think you was being a jerk, infact i found your answer rather commicle, so i had to reply with comedy, i just imagined he followed the forum thread and think from his answer i was correct? But maybe not?
Biglarge what's the answer?

Im glad you guys are having fun at my expense, this is how I figured it out. It was posted in this forum, I wish I had the name on it, but I give thanks to ever wrote this and am sorry I didnt have the nameHeres how to beat the 270 error.
When running the installer, "push any key" through the first few steps as it says.
When the queue comes up saying "press center key and screen should turn white", "press any key to continue"
FIRST - press any key, to bring up the next queue
SECOND - now push the center button on your phone, and it should turn white
THIRD - push any key on your PC to start the actual flash.
If you do step 2 before 1, it will still continue onto the flash screens, but will Error 270 at 1-10%.....
Hope this helps some of you!

Maybe if next time you are more clear with what you are trying to get help on. We can help you.
Error 720 is/has nothing to do with "Installing programs"
Think about it.
That was regards to gixxum, and in my post of installing programs, I clearly stated installing the keyboard and I believe the sirius program. I am sorry for all the confusion. Later

BigLarge: we're just trying to have fun, did you get your cabs installed?
Im almost afraid to say it, but no, I put them on the phone and it seems to install but nothing after that, I have learned to type with what ever text is on there though.

[Q] Question Android Startup

When I goto boot Android from WinMo I get this: XDAndroidStartup : directory does not exist.
When I tried an older version a month or so ago it booted up the first time I tried it then I got that error every other time.
I deleted the older version and put the newer one on, and the first time I tried it it worked. Now I get the error again.
Can anyone help me?
[Edit: XDAndroid Startup Utility - v1.3.1 Worked like a charm]

I created a backup before doing this and even it is gone or at least not accessable. I have full control of the bootloader menu, but this isnt doing me a lot of good. Thanks for any help. I also appologize if this has been posted before. I have seen close topics but nothing that is exactly my problem.
I fixed it. I got it it to work. My appologies.

[TEMP] [FIX] Charging phone with phone off.

resolved. Close thread
Shaquiel Harris said:
Thanks to tnpapadakos for the info. to fix the charging phone with phone off auto boot to recovery issue all we have to do is use the 2.5.1.4 recovery. then you could always flash back to the latest clockwork recovery when you dont need this one anymore but can go back to the other one when you wanna charge with the phone off.
You could either flash it or put it in your sdcard in clockworkMOD/download/mirror.kanged.net/recoveries for easier access to flash from Rom manager. Make sure its named recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-vision once its there when you go to ROM managerr and go to all clockwork recoveries, you can flash that recovery without getting an Error! or rename it to recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-vision and flash it through that option.
Now does anyone still have that recovery? We can't get it from the ROM manager because you will get an ERROR. if anyone has it, post it here and ill add it here for everyone to get.

I looked in the first page.. there is no such fix about fixing the phone booting into clockwork recovery when you turn off the phone. I'd lovea link to the page in that thread were you posted the fix.
edit: OP here is the recovery you were looking for 2.5.1.3 correct?

While you would rather be right. We would rather be happy.
Also... what good does it do you to give you what you want? It's more helpful if we show you how to get there instead... teach a man to fish, right? So how about you stop expecting (and demanding), and instead learn a little... it won't kill you to read through a thread (I'm still here, aren't I?)... instant gratification just shows how arrogant you are.
As for the broken link? There are numerous posts about a mirror being made by someone... how about you click "search" one more time?

damien667 said:
Its not a kernel patch, its a init.rc service than runs before recovery that reads the kernel command line for the offmode_charging variable... if it sees it it stops recovery from starting (even though you are in fact already booted into the recovery system) and starts a keypressing service (to reboot phone into regular boot mode when power button is pressed) and also the battery charging service that is supposed to display the battery icon charging animation (which doesn't work in cwm)... those services (binaries) were grabbed from the OTA recovery... if you read my previous posts, you would know.

HELP: Phone stuck at Fire System Recovery

I am not sure what happened to the phone exactly, but all of a sudden it got stuck at the Fire System Recovery screen. I can't reboot it. It keeps getting to this exact same screen every time I try to reboot.
Here are the options that are on the screen.
- reboot system now
- apply update from ADB
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
Please help, this phone is for my son and he's pretty sad right now not able to use it.
Thanks much!
Edit: If I remember correctly, I probably installed CM Rom on this phone when I first got it.
Anyone?
Anything I can do?

No, Sir. Your post was the pointless one. The forums become cluttered due to people like yourself who do not make any meaningful effort to search and read through the forums to solve problems that have already been discussed previously. If your search function skills lack the sophistication to locate the link @Kramar111 provided, then I submit you should refrain from making such large modifications to your devices, such as flashing CM11. While yes my posting was sarcastic, it's intent was to shine a humorous light on the fact that the forums are here to share knowledge, not constantly rehash it.

Thanks for this guide guys, I followed the instructions and sideloaded the latest Amazon Fire OS 4.6.6 several times and the phone shows "update completed" but I keep rebooting to the Fire Recovery bootup screen.
What else am I missing?
