Any help guys?
Thanks, Chris
EDIT: I'm on T-Mobile Combi 35 with Web'n'Walk from MobilePhonesDirect.co.uk
Sorry but *bump*
I'm kinda helpless here. I rang T-Mobile they couldn't even find the phone model to reset its settings so they couldn't do anything...
Help please?
I'm gonna take to a T-Mobile store tomorow.
Thanks, Chris
Is your Text Message Service Center number all set up properly? Can you check your voice mail?
I have no idea, this is the first time with a windows mobile/htc phone...
When I put my old Virgin sim in it works fine just had to change the network in settings.... Put in my T-mobile and changed it back to them and it doesn't work again...
I'm gonna go to a T-Mobile store today and see what they have to say about it.
Thanks, Chris
mobilephonesdirect
Hi ChrissehB,
I was looking at the deals on mobilephonesdirect but am a little wary of buying online from one of these retailers.
I have emailed them twice with the same question and they have not replied in the space of a week, which didn't help my confidence.
Can I ask, how were they to deal with ? Are they reputable, did you get the contract you were expecting with no nasty surprises ?
Maybe you could also answer the question I emailed them with. Was the phone on the t-mobile contract htc branded or has it been re-branded to t-mobile ?
Many Thanks
Si
It works fine, the phone is unbranded, no firmware branding or anything, unlocked. It's very good service. I went to a T-Mobile store and they said because its from a 3rd party it can take upto 48 hours to activate and the sim hasn't just activated yet so nothing to worry about...
Thanks, Chris
Thanks for the info Chris.
Si
You normally get this when you have no coverage ... it will offer a resend in the multithreaded SMS window.
If not ... I suggest you may have forgotten to run the carrier wizard and soft reset afterwards. This will setup the device for the new carrier stuff. It should off the wizard automatically when a new SIM is detected.
Paul.
Um Okay... Tried it and still nothing...
Thanks, Chris
Make sure the full area code in in you contacts mine is 353 or +353 them number i found 1 network you need full area code and some you dont.
Might work..
Just tried it with 2 other phones. One, an old nokia, says invalid sim, and the other, SE w810i, does the same as the TP2..
Hmm Ohwell... T-Mobile said if its not active by tomorow lunchtime then ring them and they will try to sort it out.
Thanks, Chris
It's all fixed T-Mobile said there was an error with the network which wouldn't let it activate but they've fixed it and it's all fine now
Thanks

Hi XDA developers,
Tnaks for all your help ! where would I be without you!.
I have got an XDA2 from ebay, when I got it I was told that it was unlocked, as my company uses vodafone I wanted to run the phone on that. I put the SIM in and vodafone comes up on the display, text messages can be sent and your unlock software says the phone is unlocked.
BUT, I cannot make calls, when I dial the number it simply beeps three times and then ends the call, when I try and ring the number it also will not connect ... please please help, ive contacted the seller and he says that it worked fine on O2, I havent tried a O2 Sim but is the phone faulty or is it a problem someone else has encountered with these devices !
Your urgent help would be gratefully apreciated. Thanks James
This is probably a blocked phone, it is either stolen or been subject to an insurance claim whereby the company has written it off and blocked the imei to prevent further use of the phone. It will work abroad as the imei will not be blocked in other countries. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend.
Thankyou
Thanks for the response, I think you are correct.. What I think has happened is the person I got it off had a new XDA2i and I believe that this had been got from his insurance company.
Can you confirm that XDA's work with vodafone ! I know they do, and I will have to sell this to someone from ebay.com so they can use it in there country.
thanks and all the best
James
I'd see if I could borrow someones O2 sim before thinking getting rid. You might find it just doesn't like your Voda sim.
I don't think it has an imei bar as it wouldn't pick up a network and you certainly couldn't use sms on it.
JD
Imei bar does not prevent signal reception on some networks, it just doesnt allow access to the network. And yes it would be a good idea to try another sim, however it does display symptoms of a blocked phone.
I have an XDA II. I bought unlocked from Ebay some months ago. Originally I was using a T-mobile sim, which worked really fine, with good strong signal all the time. But when the contract ran out I decided to go with Vodafone. It was a wrong decision. The signal with the XDA II is crap, even though the same sim get about a 70% signal in my other phone, a Nokia 6310i. I get the same 3 beeps and no call.
If I goto to other places the signal improves but it's never 100%. I can make and take calls and SMS messages, but cannot set it up for MMS messages. Vodafone say they cant help me because they dont have any XDA phones and dont know the setting to input.
My conclusion is that Vodafone and XDA's dont work well together. I can only assume that the arial in the XDA II is more in tune with other networks like T-mobile.
UNLOCK MY XDA2
Well i got a link from here to Unlock my XDA2 from 02 to orange and it has worked ok thank you so much for the person for downloading the link all the best antony
The person posting the question has no problem with signal, it registers fine, he gets 3 beeps when he dials, then it hangs up, I would like to know the outcome because I am 90% sure it is blocked, however I would be delighted if proved wrong as the guy will then be able to use his phone.
Bad news
Hi, Thanks for your concern, and yes I did try and unlcok the XDA from your site, and aI also did a ROM up-date.
I have now tried the XDA with an O2 Sim and like we thought its totaly dead, not even a signal on this network...
Luckily, I have had a lot of interest from outside the UK, and hopefully will make a small amount of profit from selling the item on.... but unfortunatly the guy who sold it me wont respond to my e-mails!... I could contact his insurance company and advise them as to what he has done... but to be honest is it worth all the problems that comes with it!, as as usual I the victim will probably come off worse!.. so can anyone else tell me there views of the vodafone network and if I should try again with an XDA 2 that works in the UK!, let this be a warning to everyone to chheck the IMEI with O2 before they buy a second hand XDA!... thanks once again!
Vodafone is fine with xda 2, for value on payg you cant beat tesco, its 20p across networks but you can choose 3 numbers and you get to call those at 10p per minute and half price sms. O2 payg gives you 300 sms free for a tenner topup and free wap access over gprs. So according to your usage just take your pick. Sorry to hear the phone was blocked, I had it 3 seperate times with xda 1 phones, most of the time the person who made the insurance claim isnt aware of the fact the the imei is barred after being written off. The insurance companies could address this by demanding the damaged phone before paying up.
Thanks
Thanks for your help, ive now got rid of the dodgy XDA to france (hope to god it works there), ive got another of ebay for £160 and double checked its not IMEI blocked... and paid by paypal so I dont get stung again.
I use vodafone as its my corporate SIM, e.g they pay for all usage and private calls are really cheap... but I cant use GPRS ! YET!..
THanks all anyway ! alls well that ends well as they say
Nice one, and yes it will work in France.
Hey Guys,
Long time peruser first time poster. Heres the deal, got a HTC-S621 (on 8/15/08) with the Kavana_080408 ROM. Worked for a good while (until 8/23/08) until I used it on talkshoe.com then it simply stopped working. I can not receive a signal or on the rare occasion I do get reception, the phone can not communicate (no text, or calling service... Not even basic network communications)
but:
When I take the SIM out and put it in my old phone, the old phone worked.
When I use my wife's sim card from an alternate carrier, the S621 works.
The S621 does NOT work with SIM cards from T-Mobile.
I flashed the ROM at least 5 times (different ROMs) since the problem occurred, and the S621 still can not pick up the carrier signal.
so I'm deducing:
The radio is fine since alternate carrier sims work.
the sim is fine since it (and the recent prepaid sim i purchased) work in my previous phone.
there must be a registry entry or app that should resolve this issue.
Thanks in advanced for your helpful replies.
Reflash to 6.0 and see if the problem persists....if yes, return the phone with 6.0 on it and get a new one.

After the problem occurred, I installed:
The official Rogers WM6 rom
The official HTC Brightpoint rom
The official T-Mobile Dash rom
and the originally installed 080408 Kavan rom
of which an alternate carrier sim worked. The question still remains, "why do the T-Mobile sims not work". I have more affinity for the phone then I have for T-Mobile. Switching would be cheaper then buying a new phone but I would rather try to solve this issue.
Does anyone know how to force radio acceptance from the phone to the tower?
Maybe just maybe your sim is damaged?

Oh.. Your going to love this part of the tale.
Like I mentioned before, swapping out my sim for my wife's sim makes the phone functional. So of course I can't just take her sim, so we decided to go to the T-mobile store after church this past Sunday.
SO. I walked in and store and DEMOED the whole tragedy in front of the store rep. And I purchase a new sim for 20 bucks.
Put it in... booted up.... BUBKISS!
Then the Rep. thought the new sim was faulty or something so he got another new sim.
Same results.
Got my wife's sim.... it worked.
So I went home deflated and then I thought hey... it could be a lock on my number and the IMEI number, so I went back to the store a purchased ANOTHER sim. A pre-paid sim. 7 bucks.
El' NUMERO CERO!
But my wife's sim stinking works! Uhg!
So... Recap...
3 Sim changes
T-mobile: -3 Other Carrier: 1
Ok... to be fair... as stated above, my T-Mobile sim worked for a week and some days before problems arose.
hmmm weird.
Here's an idea, give your Dash to your wife?

Oh we wise guy...Why I aughta...
A friend of mine thinks it might be the antenna specifically the GPRS but then I trying to figure out if thats the case, why does my wife's sim work? why would the antenna presumably not work at 850mhz and olny work at 1900mhz and why doesn't the phone tell the t-mobile tower that? All assumption though.
Installed Dash WM5 image and it didn't help. Does anyone know where the antenna is located?
its internal
i would jus tell t-mobile about it... and maybe u will get a free one.. jus go off on them til u get one he he he thats wat i did.. wen one of my buttons stopwrkin..

hmm.. so its not likely that it can be jarred loose or is segmented physically for the individual frequencies.
Guess I'll get a sim from my wife's carrier.

That might work if i bought the phone. It was a gift from my brother... likely from a pawn shop or off of ebay.
Which leads you back to my suggestion
I'm going to switch carriers (via a prepaid sim) for a month then merge with my wife's plan if it lasts the trial.
has anyone ever had this problem understand why its happening or know how to solve it. thanks in advance.
Sounds like a network issue tbh I don't know how Android would have a clue what network the sender is on in order to block messages.
yeah ur probably right. just wondered if anyone had the same problem, spoken to vodafone they said everything working fine.. people can't even call me now from any other network but vodafone, lolz kind of sounds like one of them deals that too good to be true when you choose ur provider. a joke ofc , but yeah see what the outcome is when the so called voda technical staff call me.

I don't know what Vodafone tech support is like but going from T-Mobile experiences don't listen to a word "customer support" say to you. They know nothing and just seem to read responses of a screen you always need to be transferred to the tech department.
When my G1 stopped receiving any signal the "customer support" guy claimed there was nothing wrong with the network, made me pull my battery and reboot (keep in mind this was a G1 and took about 5 minutes to boot) and after that didn't fix anything claimed it was my sim. I asked to be transferred to tech and 10 seconds later I learned their 3G network was down and all I needed to do was select the "force 2G networks" option on the phone.

i think all people on help desks should be forced to be part of a community such as xda developers or crackberry so they can begin to actually under stand more about these phones. it would make it so much easier for everyone!
vodafone technical support got back to me said nothing wrong with the network eventualy had to phone them back and tell them the problem again, aparently from what i was told it was to do with my number porting from t-mobile to vodafone, he said something about the fact that when someone calls or sends a text to your number there technicaly still sending it to t-mobile and t-mobile are not forwarding it on to them, prob due to the fact they have closed my account. reason i can send and recevie calls and text from vodafone users is becasue it auto forwards it through the internal vodafone network, from vodafone to vodafone.
There soloution is for them to send me out a new sim card, then when i recevie it, i have to phone them up and they will add my current number to it.
so fingers crossed this is the solution to the problem, moral of the story is sometimes its probably easyer to change your number and text all your friends or the ones you still speak too, your new number. guess with modern phones these days its not to easy to replace a number ontop of a contact previous number.
well there solution didn't work have to wait till 9 am now tommorow to speak to the number porting people.. and tell them i have a problem called "A Split Service" so far they offered me £10 credit on my account been 3 weeks now something tells me they best be crediting me a little more.
Sorry about necro'ing this thread but i'm having the exact same problem and i was wondering how this one was resolved.
When people try to text or call me they get an error saying "incorrect number" it's the correct number however and i can call them perfectly fine. Vodaphone users have no problem sending texts or calling however.
Similiarly i've also just switched networks to vodaphone and kept my old number.
Have just debranded a HTC Desire from Orange(UK) to T-mobile only problem is i can get on internet to download apps but i cant make or receive calls!
All it says is a womens voice saying "calls are currently not being connected to this number"
Has this phone been blocked somehow.
It was originally bought from Ebay could it have been blocked or something?
If so is there anyway round it.
The sim works fine in other phone perfectly!
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Blocked I would think. I think there is a service to check the imei. Search Google. Phone will only work in foreign country now.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
When you say "debranded" did you mean unlocked? or did you just remove all the Orange cr4p from it?
Did it work before you did this? (though I'm guessing you din't try becasue you didn't have an Orange sim card).
As it was on orange originally i paid a small fee to have it unlocked (only had to give over IMEI number).
After that i debranded it via making goldcard etc, thought all was fine as wireless worked but cannot make or recieve calls!!
If it is blocked, which countries will it work in?
Is there nothing i can do?
I had a very similar problem. I travel a lot to other countries and have various sim-cards for the different countries that I visit regularly. I received similar messages to yours and only found out when trying to make a call that the sim card had expired. Apparently they only last for 12-24 months (in the countries I'm talking about) then you have to get a new card and, unfortunately, new number.
Also had the same problem when I just bought my Desire. I too had it unlocked and a few days later, for no reason at all, what's happened to you happened to me. So I viewed my mobile phone account online on the providers website and found that my account was "missing". I tried the online live chat and they told me my account had been cancelled. They couldn't explain why but after a lot of protesting by me they magically re-instated it.
I think the best advice is to contact T-Mobile. Maybe the sim needs activating, if not done already, or maybe there's a problem with the account or the sim is faulty.
Try another T-Mobile sim in it, or another provider to see if they work. You can get them for free now.
Hi All,
Recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Gumtree online. It was only working on o2 network so got at unblocked from a guy at a market stall so that it works on all network sims. It was working fine for about a week but then randomly came up with a message saying "emergency calls only" and I coulnt make or recieve calls or texts even if i changed the sim to o2. The internet was still functioning correctly however.
Called network provider and have been told that there is a bar on it by an insurance company. Tried to get back to the seller but have not been able to contact him. Have reported him but I would just like to know is there any way to unblock this phone at all? Dont want to lose out on all the money spent on it. would it be worth downloading any unblocking applications if the phone has a bar on it?
Please any ideas, comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies for the long message
Thanks

Unlocking (simunlock) wont help, besides you already have it sim unlocked.
This phone is blacklisted in your country and from what you said it was due to insurance claim. If I were you, I'd call the original carrier that the phone was in and report it. Maybe they'll send you to the police or something but through the carrier you could get to the seller as they still have details on who originally bought the phone.
Alternatively you can sell it further to somebody outside of your country who is not planning to visit your country as the phone will be blacklisted only in your country and nowhere else so it will work fine there only not in your country.

before going for the latter solution I'd check my local regulations first.. In my country for example, not denunciating a known criminal activity like this is considered akin to aiding an abetting the felon.
